I purchased alcohol from a BevMo store. The product was clearly marked as $33.99 on the shelf, but I was charged $43.99 at the register. This price difference cannot be explained by tax and constitutes a clear overcharge. When I asked for a receipt, they refused to provide one. They claimed that I could not receive a receipt because I did not have an account, which is not a valid explanation. I asked for the transaction to be voided, but they refused to void it and did not issue a refund. After I pointed out the price discrepancy, the shelf price tag was removed. An employee with long hair, who identified himself as the store manager, behaved in a very rude and disrespectful manner. Instead of resolving the issue, he forcibly removed me from the store. This was not the first time this happened. I experienced the same price discrepancy and similar behavior during a previous visit. This indicates a repeated practice rather than an isolated mistake. I have video evidence documenting this incident. The incident occurred at the following location: BevMo, 22372 El Paseo, Suite A, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688 Date and time: January 26, 2026 at 5:45 PM. The customer service at this location is horrible. I came to return a bottle of non alcoholic vodka because it tasted like cough syrup. The associate told me I was not able to return something because I didn't like it and it had been opened. The receipt says that you can return something if it's not consumable. It doesn't mention anything about it being opened. It's clear I tried it but didn't have more than one shot. An associate from another location was very nice and allowed me to return it. read more

I honestly didn't shop here before 2020 but this is what happens when you get locked in the house lol. Anyhow I started ordering a few things at this location and have never had a problem with out of stock items until I received a gift for my birthday and wanted to get a bottle for myself . Who knew Rum Chata Limon would be so difficult to find but it is . Sadly I missed when it was in stock and now out of stock every where including here but was in stock in their Ladera Ranch location. All in all, both locations keep their stores clean . It's really nice to order online - pay and just walk in and do quick pick up and leave - make sure to bring proof of order and ID . This was my first walk in pick up since I did curb pick up the last three times at this location. They had the orders ready within 15-45 mins . I was shopping in Rancho Santa Margarita Town Center and suddenly remembered I needed to get some wine for dinner and would have to stop at the grocery store on the way home. But then, like a mirage across the parking lot, I saw BevMo! so I headed over to the Land O' Booze. Physically it feels smaller inside than others I've been in but the variety of wines, beer and hard liquor are all here as are soft drinks, snacks and cigars. Prices are average but luckily there are several wines that I like that are among the selection they offer in their "buy one bottle get another of the same bottle for five cents" deal. Great deal indeed. I walked out with a couple bottles of cabernet sauvignon purchased as part of the above mentioned deal as well as some chips and salami. I have been a loyal ClubBev member for over 7 years at this point, shopping at BevMo at least once a month during that time. Today (4/22/2023), I had a very negative experience at the Rancho Santa Margarita store. My wife and I went to the store planning to use the $10 off $75 coupon that was emailed to me, valid through this Sunday, 4/23/2023. We purchased enough merchandise to qualify for the discount, but apparently the ClubBev system wasn't working and the coupon that we provided didn't register. We tried multiple different options with the cashier who was very patient and customer-service oriented, but it was clearly not working due to an issue on the BevMo system's end. The cashier then called over the (male) manager (didn't get his name), who tried the same things the cashier did, and it still didn't register the coupon. At that point, we asked for him to honor the discount as it was clearly an issue with their system. He then stated "I suppose I'll give you the discount, but only THIS TIME." My wife and I immediately responded with a concern that the issue was with BevMo, and not us. We didn't do anything wrong - the coupon was valid, the amount was valid and your system wasn't working. For the manager to caveat his statement with "THIS TIME" implied that we were in some way trying to scam BevMo or weren't entitled to the discount. I mean, c'mon, we have better things to do than make up fake BevMo coupons for goodness' sake. The manager then didn't correct himself or in any way meaningfully apologize. We were treated as if we were scammers or criminals, and as a result, my wife and I are EXTREMELY disappointed and frustrated with our experience. This is not what I would expect as a ClubBev customer at a high-end, expensive (overpriced, dare I say?) liquor store. I've sent a separate note to BevMo corporate regarding this experience, but I expect very little to nothing being done about it, given the experience I and my wife had at the store today. read more

Chris, the Manager, is so extremely friendly and showed me what a keg tap looks like because I kept hearing that term and wanted to see what it was. BevMo! is a privately owned chain that sells mainly spirits, wines and beers. Although they have a decent selection of inventory, this branch seems smaller than other branches of theirs that I've been to. They are much smaller than one of their competitors, Total Wine, but the local residents may not feel it'd be worth the 8-mile drive to El Toro Road in Laguna Hills for the cheaper prices or larger selection. Their prices are average, some being higher than the neighboring grocery stores, all depending what's your fancy. My husband is thrilled with his recent discovery that they carry more than one type of ginger beer. Otherwise wines and spirits may be cheaper to pick up at Costco. We welcome them to our neighborhood, but question how well they will do in the long run. read more

I decided to check out BevMo Rancho Santa Margarita's reviews on Yelp to see if anyone else had a horrible experience at this store, like I did yesterday. Sure enough, there are similar reviews of HORRENDOUS customer service at this store. This is what happened to me: As I walked in the store yesterday, there was an African-American man standing behind the counter, with no customers. I had four items to purchase, and I thought it would be easier to locate them if he gave me an idea as to where to look. I asked him, "Hi. Can you guide me as to where I might be able to find these items?" I showed him my phone screen. I shop for customers through InstaCart, and the app does not tell me where the items are located in the store. Since I'm on a very limited time to shop because I'm being monitored by InstaCart, it is helpful to get an idea of where to look. Well, the man went completely irate on me. He started yelling at me, telling me that my job as an InstaCart shopper was to find the items myself. I reminded him that since he worked there and was doing nothing, it was part of his job to guide customers as to the whereabouts of certain items, since there are so many different bottles to search from. He would not stop yelling and going beserk. He rudely and with disdain yelled and pointed, "The whiskey is right there! The tequila is over there, and you know where the beer is in the back!" WOW! Was it necessary to respond like that? It felt like he was ready to bring out a rifle and start shooting me! I found the four items and proceeded to the register, afraid of what else was waiting for me. Since I had only a few items, I asked him if it would be OK to leave them in the basket so he could scan the bar code. At this question, he went complete beserk on me again. He went on to lecture me angrily that I was shopping for a third party, but that I should shop like any other customer and place the items on top of the counter. I told him that some stores are OK with leaving the items in the basket, and that I was simply asking, and did not want to engage in a fight with him, since there was no need to fight over this. He would not reason with anything I had to say. He was adamant to yell at me, treat me with disdain, and humiliate me as much as possible. It did not matter that another customer was right behind me or that another customer was walking towards the register. Then he yelled angrily, before checking out the items, "You know, we don't have to do this!" Meaning that he did not have to sell me the items. Wow! He knew I had to purchase the items for the third party through InstaCart. The customer was waiting for her order, so I could not just cancel it. Wasn't it his job to scan the items? Maybe it wasn't his job to guide me as to where the merchandise was located in the store, but it was definitely his job to scan the items so I could leave! He was telling me to act like any other customer, but he was most definitely NOT treating me like he treats any other customer. Or was he? Now that I think about it, and based on the other reviews here, I guess this is how they treat some of their customers. They have completely crossed the line and become a threat to public safety. I left the store feeling like I had just left a war zone. I was grateful that things had not escalated to the point of him punching me in the face or shooting me, but it felt very close to it. Yikes! What a nightmare! It's hard to believe that this stuff actually happens in this quiet city. Unbelievable! I actually feel like going to the police or BBB to report them. Nobody deserves to be put through such a stressful situation. read more

Great staff except one pompous employee. I come here almost too often, I've been in the service industry for years, customer service etc. everyone at this store has been helpful when trying to find something that not perfectly organized or whatever I need except one person I'm singling out today. Now cue the one older staff member with short straight white hair in a crew cut and passive aggressive mannerisms. I've heard them scold workers for general labor when it's slow, blatantly stand in the way of aisles just blocking others like they don't need customers to exist, and I don't think this kind of person represents the brand name or values of the other staff members. When they change their attitude or leave I'll be happy to change my review to 5 stars. Don't be rude to customers and employees. read more

This store is smaller than other BevMo locations -- bear that in mind before you head over. (Larger locations are down the road in Ladera at Antonio and Crown Valley, and off El Toro in Lake Forest.) Whoa, if retail is left to these people, I give it a few more months to live. Went in to buy a Xmas gift, was asked for my BevMo card, of which I don't have one, and was never offered one. The item I was buying said $44.99 but then magically it was $75.99 "without the card." I asked for the "Manager", another broham, who told me I could get a card and receive the "discount." Then, it turns out I HAVE a freakin card from my old home phone number. He gave me the refund and never apologized. If you have an emergency, go ahead and take your chances here. Otherwise, shop local or buy online. Those places don't mess with you when you're just trying to make someone's Xmas bright. read more

I am super surprised to see some negative reviews for a BevMo! Every time I have been in there have been a pretty smooth one, I don't drink much alcohol but they make great gifts so I usually have to rely on the staff to find me what I am looking for. The staff are always super nice and there is one gentlemen that is always super knowledgable and makes really great recommendations. In terms of selection, they have a pretty decent selection. For all the negative reviews about them not accepting your ID because it expired, or not giving you alcohol because you are with an underaged person. Seriously? Just let them do their job, I am pretty sure it's company policy to not accept any expired ID. read more

I've frequented this BevMo! at least ten times, nine of which were to purchase non-alcoholic energy drinks from the coolers in front where the cash registers are located... Nearly every time I was met with a "can I help you?" from a number of cashiers that was not of the friendly, concerned ilk but more in tune with the "can I help you?" a homeless person would receive when they think you're about to shoplift a mini bottle of Grand Marnier. On my tenth visit I headed towards the back to pick up a 12-pack of my favorite brew, which I seldom do because this BevMo! doesn't stock my favorite brew in can form (this is a classy establishment which allows them to charge $3 more than anywhere else for bottles), then approached the front coolers to grab my usual energy drink... No condescending "can I help you?" this time around (with exception to a watchful manager's eye from the cigar station in the corner) and I thought right then that I was making some sort of progress in becoming a regular customer... Hooray me! I was helped by a lady who in past encounters was extremely nice, all smiles and very chatty, with a great attitude that told me she really liked her job. Can't say anything bad about her other than when she carded me... ID from me? Really? I had no problem with this since it's a rare occasion that a middle-aged bald man like myself gets carded, so I took it as a wink to company formality... I was then asked to take the ID out of it's little plastic cover. I complied while showing that is was in fact a valid California ID stating that I was well over the legal age to purchase alcohol. I was then begrudgingly asked to hand the ID over to be swiped through a machine, for which at that point in the transaction I balked. I kindly explained that I did not want BevMo! tracking my data and that scanning my ClubBev! card was enough. In light of data breeches across a number of retail stores that practice these sort of privacy invasion tactics I respectfully refused the cashier's inquiry... Things got real weird and very uncomfortable after she passively took my driver license out of my hand, consciously ignoring my concerns, and quickly scanned the card. What followed was a conversation with both the cashier and manager about how BevMo! did not collect any data or personal information (which, according to their web site, they do), that they swipe the ID's of everyone who looks to be under the age of 50 (which didn't occur with the gentleman in front of me in line), and how the cashier could get fired if I was a "secret shopper" or had a fake ID or wanted to commit fraud or that swiping the card relieved them of any liability of sale (which were valid points)... But in no way was there any concern with my right to privacy nor respect with my apprehension in providing such information, not to mention the contempt and mistrust displayed towards a regular customer while checking out... Well, perhaps that was wishful thinking on my part. The BevoMo! in Rancho Santa Margarita has nice salespeople, no doubt, but their oppressive management style and invasive corporate structure has convinced me never to walk in to another BevMo! ever again. Besides, their sale price for an energy drink is way too high. Meh! read more

I won't name names but I shouldn't have to argue in the store about the items I have at the register that ARE on the 5 cent wine sale while the manager tells me they are not. Then when I walk over to show her she has an attitude about changing the price. Maybe she had a bad day, but that interaction caused me to leave and I will get my champagne from Costco instead of BevMo. read more

This store is pretty new, so it is nice and clean and organized. Here is my story, I called in to place an order with a gentleman by the name of Ryan. He wasn't very familiar with the inventory though, however we were able to get through placing 6 wines that I found on-line that were available at the time. Ryan didn't ask me for my number only what name to place it under. This seems very unusually to me. So I quickly asked him if he wanted to get my information from me. Ryan did apologies, but continues not to ask me for my number. lol I again asked him, "Do you need my number?" He said that you will be okay and will see you at 6 p.m. Then we hung up. Then once I get to Bevmo at 6pm, a lady by the name of Kim approaches me and mentioned to me that 3 of the wines that I selected are not available. I tried to explain the situation, but she was very rude with her rebuttals back to me. At this point, I'm disappointed that I wasn't aware of this. In addition, I was buying specific wines, but ended up getting more frustrated by the employee Kim when trying to figure out what to get that was comparable to what I had order. At this point, I have already traveled the distance to pick up some wine and I was determined to get something. Then when asking her questions about some different wines, she seems frustrated with me, made me feel like I was cheap in the wines that I was selecting and ended up walking away when I was asking her questions and then acting as if she didn't know I was speaking with her. By the way, the store was empty. At this point I was so pissed off that I was the consumer buying and she was the employee treating me with such un-professionalism. I've been in the field of Customer Service for 15 years and I was very shocked. I have tried to call in several times to speak to the manger and every time I call in she happens to answer the phone very rudely and always tells me that Jeff isn't here with no question to: Can I help you? Can I leave him your name & number? Something, but nothing. Moving forward, I will buy my wines from Amazing Grapes or Uncorked in RSM to build my wine cellar selections verse dealing with rude, unprofessional individuals. Very disappointing read more

We went to stock up on champagne tonight for family visiting and we noticed that both the Perrier Jouet and the Veuve Cliquot were a lot more expensive than what we found at Total Wine. One of the gentlemen who worked there asked if we needed help and we asked if they price matched with Total Wine including their website. He answered our question "yeah" with a tone like we were idiots and he rolled his eyes. We immediately left and decided to drive down to total wine who had better prices and consistently better customer service. read more

Staff is always nice and helpful. Although this location isn't as big and doesn't offer as much as the one in Ladera, it's less than 5 minutes from my house. The wines I like are always on sale, and they have a good selection and price on liquor, sake and anything else I buy. Have gone to 2 tastings, both times ended up leaving with at least one of the things tried. This is also the only place I have found the really good Bing cherries free from all the fake dyes. read more

I absolutely had to take the time to write up the most positive review for David at this location. Every time I go into this store, I walk away very happy but yesterday was extraordinary. I walked up to the cashier area and asked for help. David instantly left his post and listened to my story about needing suggestions for wine that would satisfy a couple of "wine snobs" as I described them (in a positive way because they're also my best friends). I told him I usually just go for Justin but I wanted other suggestions. David suggested Athenaeum and Daou cabernets. It was such a huge hit that my friends were taking pictures of the labels so that they could be sure to buy these wines in the future. Bottom line, David took the time to listen to me and made me look like I actually knew what I was doing when it came to the wine I brought to the event. This is fantastic customer service. I love this BevMo! It's new, clean, and organized. The staff is exceptionaly curtious and very helpful. I shop for wine and Kim has always made herself available to assist me in my selections. She has done an amazing job matching my wine likes to the wines on the 5cent sale. She knows her wines. I was also in getting beer for my hubby, Mike and Jessi had numerous recomendations for me....my hubby has some new favs.. The cashiers were curtious and efficient. I live in RSM, however I will drive every time to the store off Antonio in Ladera Ranch instead. The RSM location has a small selection. Not only that, but the blonde woman at the cash register is just rude and not helpful.
