What is wrong with the checkers there? The last three times i've gotten some very strange ones. Today one asked me if I was going to put a banana on my steak?! (Louis) The time before that a checker asked some gals ahead of me if they wanted to move to her check stand that she was just opening. Since they were already putting their groceries on the conveyer belt they said no. So instead of asking me if i'd like to move she went around and three isles down to ask someone else! I don't think I was invisible but maybe that day I was, I dunno. Time before that I went to the 15 items or less and got berated for having four items over. Great people. Great store. Very clean. Laid out perfectly. Always helpful and courteous. I just picked up a Seattle Seahawks decorated cookie for the SuperBowl and the bakery department is absolutely FANTASTIC. I have been using this store for special birthdays, events, and other family celebrations for more than 5+ years. I walked inside and I went to the Frozen fish and meat to see that they had shrimp sitting in water it was clearly been melted which means the shrimp is definitely gone bad. If you look close enough had the pictures you can see the water is already murky which is awful sign and definitely a one way ticket to the hospital. I've only been to one other Stater Bros. and this one really hit it out of the park for me! I was very impressed by the customer service I received today. There were way more workers available than I've ever seen at a grocery store and they were all so friendly, greeting customers as they passed by or checking in to see if there was anything they could help find. They have a very large selection of meats and seafood both in the "regular" grab and go section and behind the counter. So yesterday around 6am in the morning , I got woken up from the GM from stater brothers the one in El Toro Rd California, orange county, this man he was literally over me while I was sleeping , I felt that I was in danger and he is always harassing me for no reason idk why or what his issue is with me and my fiance but he's a really bad person , but yeah he kept telling me if I don't leave the parking lot that he's gonna call the cops on us I told him go for it I'm not doing anything wrong , I told him the cops know who we are they know my situation right now and than he's like oh will than I'm gonna tow ur car I told him go for it lol I'm in the car so they can't tow my car , than he left and 3 hrs later here he comes with a printed sheet of paper saying about towing and something else , but the way he grabbed my windshield wipers and he touched my car it's like bro have a little respect please . t's like dont touch someone property please and thank you , This man luis Adam torres he's a really bad man , I've been trying to get a job there for months and he looks at me like he's disgusted by me , he's rude towards me for no reason , I don't know him at all and he doesn't know me , so yeah hes a very judgemental person, but over all I felt threatened, harassed by him , I am pregnant and what he did towards me hovering over me , I got scared because I don't know what hes capable of doing you know so yeah next time he does this to me again , I will call the authorities on him and file a harassment report, so please if you see this leave me and my family alone , we are going through a lot right now. so please don't be judging others you don't know what there going through , you as a GM should be helping people like me out . The meat department needs to change their gloves after serving fish. I cooked my chicken legs I bought on Sunday and I took a bite and noticed it tasted fishy and smelled like fish. My guess is the meat clerk served me shrimp which I also purchased. He then decided to keep his seafood gloves on and went for the chicken legs. Food is so expensive and then they give us contaminated chicken. We have to throw it all away now. So nasty. read more

I believe Amanda is the name of the person who helps me every year when I do a big balloon order on my daughter's birthday! She is wonderful and so helpful. There was also someone else who was very helpful today and when I placed the order (I wish I knew her name). I order so many cakes from the bakery and they do such a wonderful job. Markets Store Number 142 located in Lake Forest, CA on El Toro Road because this store has very nice, friendly, helpful, knowable, and honest employees overall. There employees spend a lot of time with me, go way beyond what was required to help me, and do everything they can to be as helpful as possible to me. They give me the solutions and overall results I need. This store is well stocked with a wide variety of products and is very clean. It is my favorite grocery store, and the best grocery store I have ever shopped at. I have been shopping there every week since September 2008. Since about October 2024 every week, their Seafood and Meat department has been seasoning and cooking my meat, which I purchased from their department, in their steamer as a free service they offer to their customers. This is very helpful and greatly appreciated by me as I have never done any of my own cooking. This has made a very big difference in my life and helped me eat more of a large variety of healthy food that I really like. My health has improved as a result of this. Mike Rutkowski, their Seafood Manager, does the majority of this seasoning and cooking for me. He spends a lot of time with me to make sure my food turns out properly seasoned and cooked. He is the best cook I have ever had and always does an excellent job for me. He knows how to make the food very tasty, favorable, and moist. He cooks anything I want that would be feasible to cook in the steamer. He has cooked for me salmon, hamburger, steak, and chicken. He gives me recommendations on what to cook for me and how to season it. He regularly gives me suggestions. I have learned a lot from Mike. Mario Zaragoza, the Meat Manager, seasons and cooks my meat when Mike is off and not working. Mario also always does an excellent job of seasoning and cooking my meat. Sergio, the Produce Manager, and Conrad, a produce worker, also help me out a lot as they select the newest and freshest fruit for me every week because I live alone, and it takes me a long time to eat my fruit. This enables me to eat the fruit before it goes bad. Brandi, a Courtesy Clerk at their location, was the employee that told me about the free seasoning and cooking service in their steamer they are offering in the Seafood and Meat department. Brandi is always very nice and helpful to me. Therefore, I give Mike, Mario, Sergio, Conrad, and Brandi my highest recommendations! I highly recommend their company management give them a good job review and reward them for all this! First off I have been shopping at S/B for over 50 years. The El Toro store since it opened when Albertsons closed. I have to say that the people at this store don't care about the customers. Customers shopping at your stores is what gives your staff their jobs. I purchased 1 1/4lbs ground beef on Friday night, went to make dinner for our family, the ground beef was spoiled! Less than 2 days and it was bad, I drove back to the store, and was met with hate and contempt by the store staff about trying to return spoiled meat. I spoke to a woman who claims there was no store manager, he just went home, which was a lie! Said I had to wait in line to which there were a lot of people checking out. Not enough people working check stands! I just went to a check stand and advised the cashier (David) meat bad want to exchange for fresh. Finally told me to go to meat department to get replacement. Surprise they were out of the same ground beef I bought on Friday, so I said to give me the next one up! He did so, hit the weight on the money wrapped it up and I went to the check stand. Gave the new ground beef to David, he then stated I owed $2.32 additional money. I said for what, he stated that the ground beef was a $1.00 more per pound. I explained that it was not my fault that you were out of the same ground beef I purchased on Friday. Really did not the meat they had just a direct replacement. Oh no can't do that! Then a manager named Jonathan(remember no managers on duty he had just left when I got there) took me to a closed check stand. He then rang it up and wanted more money, because they were out of what I purchased on Friday, so I asked why was this the customers problem. Stater Bros sold me meat that didn't survive 36hrs. Said this was not stores problem. I finally lost it and said do you want to lose a 50+ year customer over your poor meat and customer service. He finally rolled the meat package down the bagging area, said to HAVE A NICE DAY in a voice dripping with sarcasm. When I asked for a bag to place the meat in he took the spoiled meat from the bag I brought in a put the fresh meat in that bag! WHO DOES THIS??!! My thought is this is very unsanitary, and could get someone sick. I am sure there is a health code violation there as well! So over the cost of a .10cent bag, and wanting to charge me more for the same product I purchased 36hrs before, Stater Bros lost a 50+ year customer. I am sure that my family and friends will help spread the word by not shopping there. I hope that all read this will do the same! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO ACCETPANCE OF SELLING BAD MEATS, NO ACCEPTANCE OF WANTING TO RIGHT A WRONG THAT IS NOT THE CUSTOMERS FAULT. JUST CONTEMPT FOR CUSTOMERS SHOPPING THERE! Sorry but I was there a week ago and bought your swordfish which was expensive unfortunately it was smelly and slimy. It tasted like poop and was tough as a flip flop sole very disappointed. I would have brought it back but threw away my receipt. I was there today only to see crazy price increases in one freaking week. Like the highest increase ever. There's always a grocer in the fresh produce department! And there's also lots of bags, for bagging your meats and vegetables etc. they keep the store clean. I frequent this grocery store location due to it being in the same shopping center of my FAVORITE Starbucks in town! I feel required to make a statement regarding their produce, although it can be a few days from perfect ripeness, I can afford to wait. What I can't afford is buying fruit or veggies that spoil to soon, which is a way bigger problem in my experience. Their organic selection is very slim, however they have fantastic prices. A long, long time ago I worked in the Inland Empire and often found myself at Stater Brothers to buy lunch or snacks. Back then the stores I walked into seemed unkempt, disorganized and a bit seedy. I felt like the people who shopped there had rusted car bodies covered in vines in their front yards. So I was pleasantly surprised the first time I walked into this store. This location is very clean, organized and classy. It feels large with an abundance of products. I always find what I'm looking for. The meat department - which Stater Brothers is known for - is first class. Lots of beautiful beef to behold...at good prices. Seafood too. On the other hand, the bakery is tiny and the deli area small too. On my most recent visit I was excited to find that they now sell mochi ice cream here and I walked out with several cartons. On the down side, I attempted to get some bulk food items from some of the small dispensers they have but found the ones I wanted were clogged with no one around to assist. So I abandoned that idea. Checkout lines are sometimes an issue. Not enough registers open, semi-long lines but the cashiers are friendly and fast. No self-checkout here. We were in the neighborhood and decided to give this store a try since our neighborhood grocery stores were sold out of meat. Their meat cases were pretty stocked at 3pm on Sunday 3/15! We had already gone to the butcher, so we weren't in need of the meat, but it was nice to find a store where people haven't hoarded it all! This store was out of stuff like tp, rice and pasta, but everything else was available...milk, eggs, butter, yogurt, chocolate, booze...you know, the essentials. read more

I popped in here after I was shopping at nearby Grocery Outlet Bargain Market.. and I kind of wish I'd come here first! (GOBM did not have baking soda, which I needed for the cookies I was baking.) As I was shopping around, I noticed that some of the items I'd purchased were slightly less expensive at this Stater Bros location. When it came time to check out, there were plenty of tills available, and there was only one person ahead of me, which was also nice. Update 7.29.2017 I come here for their meat. They always have a great selection and at prices that are better than any other market near me. I just wish the people (employees) were more friendly and engaging. I get the impression this place is just another job for them and they don't really look happy. I asked about how to get the coupon prices and I was referred to my computer - no help really. It's hit or miss whether anyone will smile let alone say hello to you here.
