There are so many things to love about BevMo. We've been coming to this location since it first opened, and have always found what we've gone in looking for. The staff there is friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to answer questions about wine or beer, and point you in the right direction if you're having trouble finding a specific brew. There was one time that I was in here with a couple of girlfriends (it was during their annual 5¢ wine sale), and a BevMo employee approached us, to ask if we had any questions, or needed help finding something in particular. My friend launches into this dialogue, in which she says she's looking for a specific wine - only she can't remember the name, or who makes it - but can the nice BevMo employee help her find it? Instead of snorting in disgust and walking away (like I would have done...and honestly, wanted to!), she started asking my friend questions about the wine itself. She was able to draw enough information out of her to actually recognize the wine! It was like magic to behold, let me tell you! Seriously - it went from "It was a wine..." to "This is the exact brand!" And of course she bought two bottles, because, hey...5¢ wine sale... They offer some great deals throughout the year, and they have a Club program that you can sign up for, if you're there often enough to make it matter. Beyond the booze options, they also offer glasses for every type of liquor, accoutrements for all your party needs, cheeses and snacks to complement every type of liquor, and several other merchandising options (want an ornament that looks like a mini bottle of vodka? You can get that here!) They even host beer and wine tastings in the store! read more

I love this location. There is always parking and never crowded. Employees are friendly and store is always clean. Just one observation about Bevmo in general...they tend to cater more towards wine drinkers than any other beverage. Why don't they offer their 5 cent deal on craft beer? Or a build your own 6pk which seems to be quite popular in some grocery chains now! I do like that Bevmo offers wine and beer tastings for a small fee. I went to buy some spirits this past week at your Point Loma location. LAST TIME. My cashier Chloe, who besides being disrespectful, rude, pitiful had the audacity to ask for a good review. Nasty attitude, rolling her eyes, saying outrageous comments about her peers and supervision. Screaming at her Co workers who were honestly trying to help her. Seriously the best BevMo I've been in. Everyone here is so happy and helpful!! They go out of their way to help you. This location also sells a lot of different types of alcohol that other BevMo locations don't have. I needed a special type of champagne for my bridesmaid gifts and they only had 4 and I needed 6. One of the sales associates called another BevMo that had some in stock and had it transferred to their location So that I would not have to drive all the way up to La Jolla to get it. I called and asked if they price matched alcohol. Their price on 1.75L Bulleit rye is $45.99. Total wine store has it for $29.99 and costco has it for $34.99. The girl that answered very rudely told me they absolutely do not price match. I live very close to this bevmo and shop there often. I will never step foot in this price gouging disrespectful dump again. I wrote to total wine and recommended they open a store in Point Loma. I hear they are killing bevmo in northern California. This review is purely on the customer service experience. I think the lady who (didn't) helped me was one of the managers at the store. She refused to do a return even though the reason was within the company guidelines, as stated on the receipt. Ughhh... this bevmo used to be one of my favorites to go to but not anymore. my roommate and i come here ALL the time to get the wine deal for 5¢... & the past few times we've been here, we get two bottles with the yellow tag and when we bring them to the counter, they don't scan correctly. the first time this happened i showed the manager that we took a picture and she gave us the bottle because they were wrong. this time when it happened, my roommates went to check the tag & the manager CHASED after them to the aisle & when they got to the bottle, of course it had a yellow tag again!!!! we're not idiots we only grab bottles of wine w the yellow tags especially with the deal. this time, the manager took the tag off the shelf and then made my roommates grab another bottle. at the same time the employee at the counter made comments to other customers telling them they had to wait bc "we were wrong" when in fact we weren't. we love deb, the woman at the cash register that we usually have, she's the best employee they've got! but unfortunately we won't be visiting this bevmo anymore. they blame their customers for their mistakes and then get mad when they're correct. read more

This Bevmo is fresh to the Loma Portal just in time for the holidays! I'm not much of a cook so I decided to make Apple Pie to bring to whoevers' dinner table I end up at. Not the kind with a flaky crust, but the dangerously delicious drink concoction that can have you on your ass if your not careful. It's got 151 proof grain alcohol, and a few other ingredients (find the recipe here http://www.drinknation.com/drink/apple-pie-bulk) all of which I was able to pick up at this booze warehouse. Prices were reasonable and my end result was a large batch of deliciously flavored moonshine that's sure to have someone's uncle acting goofier than the taste would have them assume it would. Service was very preoccupied so I had to find everything myself but, it was the day before Thanksgiving so I won't knock em for that. Love this place as any budding alcoholic would. BUT. Had a huge lapse in customer service this week that ya'll should know about. I'm a huge vodka fan and typically LOVE Three Olives fun flavors (cake, bubble, fruit loops). I went out on a limb this past visit and bought a new flavor they came out with, S'mores. Whereas every other flavor is true to the name, this s'mores tasted more like ass than s'mores. And not in a good way. :-( The lapse in customer service, hence the 3 star rating: Called BevMo the next day because I didn't even get past the first sample sip I poured out of the bottle. I asked the storeperson if I could bring it back either for a refund or for an exchange for a flavor that actually tasted like it was advertised. She said that they could only take back spirits if there was something wrong with them. "There is something wrong with it! It doesn't taste anything like s'mores!!!!!" She said I could call back and talk to Damon, the store manager, but I don't have time to deal with that for $20. She was really friendly and sympathetic, but the refund policy is total whack. Especially when I regularly spend a fair bit of money there instead of other places with great prices on booze (Costco). I can tell you that I won't be spending nearly as much money here as a result of this encounter. Who am I kidding, it won't change a DARN thing and i'll still shop there and spend too much money on boutique booze. But thought ya'll (and Mister Damon the Store Manager) should know how I feel about this policy which is horrible customer service. read more

This review is for my experience at the check out isle on 07-04-21. The gentlemen working the register who's name is Pablo was extremely rude to me. At first I thought I was just trippin, but it wasn't until the person I was with told him "I hope your day gets better man". If you're upset, ask management to give you a break from the register. From the get go he had an attitude that made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Talk about an awkward experience inside this place. There was no rush of customers and all the other staff seemed to be occupied with their tasks. There was no line and I know that I wasn't a difficult customer because I went in knowing what I wanted and the only help I needed was to get something from inside of a display case. I spent less than 10 minutes in this place. Staff needs to be trained on customer service skills, especially when working the front register as a reflection of the business. read more

This was my first visit to a BevMo and I was pleasantly surprised. Not often do you enter a clean liquor store let alone one with customer service and room to shop around. I can't imagine not being able to find any alcohol/beer/wine whatever flavor you are looking for. The prices seemed reasonable but I haven't done my competitive research but they do offer discounts for signing up for their members card. If you're looking to give a bottle of wine/booze as a gift they even have gift bags for sale. And if you're looking to be enviro-friendly they have reusable bags too! Not really sure I drink enough to warrant buying the *green* bag but it's nice to know they are thinking in that direction. read more

The BevMo 5cent wine sale is on now! They have a few of my favorite reds on the sale this time around!. A little disappointed by the selection of whites. However, if you are are a Chard fan unlike myself then you will be very pleased, because there's alot of those on special! Great selection of micro brews. I moved to SD from CO and found my favorites like Avery Maharaja and Dugana. This location also has a great selection of hard liquor and wine. My only complaint is that in spite of the private parking lot the traffic around this can be onerous during school and rush hours. read more

After getting diagnosed with celiac disease, one of the top things that I missed (aside from bagels and cake) was really good beer. In comes BevMo to save the day! This location stocks the largest selection I've found. (largest being around 8-10) They carry several different selections of Green's. They also have Bards, Daura, and a couple others I've haven't tried. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly on gluten free things as well. Pick up a couple bottles of awesome wine while you're at it. Great gluten free beer selection, good wine selection, prices are spot on, and customer service is super! read more

Probably one of my favorite BevMo in San Diego, the largest as well. The 5cent sale is always a reason to stop and stock up on more wine. The representative are very helpful in suggesting what works with certain food and what does not. This time around they suggested a new Pinot that I have not tried yet, and it was worth every $ I spent. Back for more before the sale ends. read more

I've been looking for that awesome purveyor of spirits wine and beer but have only really found a shitload of smaller liquor shops whose only job it seems is to charge an exorbitant amount to get you only nearly shitfaced. They had a moscato that a friend of mine liked listed in the fridge but there was none, so I checked on the isles and thankfully they had 1 bottle left. When checking out of course we asked if there was more and the personnel said there was more in the back.... well b!tch stock that shit up cause obviously that bottle is customers favorite. Visiting from out of town we needed to pick up a couple bottles of wine to bring to dinner and BevMo was where we stopped. Back home there are a couple places like BevMo in size and selection, but I was truly impressed with BevMo. We were able to roam freely and find what we were looking for but when we needed help it was easily found. The individual that helped us was very knowledgeable and we were pleased with his recommendation. I could have spent a good deal of time wandering the isles of BevMo, but we were tired from our flight and just wanted to get to where we were going, so once we had what we came for we checked out and were on our way. Always my go-to liquor spot if I need something special that I can't pick up at my neighborhood CVS. This store in particular is NEVER crowded and always has great customer service. The BevMo card is a great asset to my keychain and definitely saves when you are stocking up. I like going here because it is generally a one stop shop--you can get your booze, mixers, cheese/meat/crackers, etc all from the same store! The 5 cent wine sale--game over. You can't go wrong. The only issue that I have seen pretty much every time is that it takes them awhile to restock the shelves. There have been items that were out of stock on the shelves which required me finding an employee and having them get it from the back. Not a huge issue, but takes an extra 15 minutes or so. Generally speaking, this is a warehouse for all of your social needs and they always have the newest products in stock before any other store! read more

Being a visitor to Cali., I had never heard of BevMo before but I am sure glad I stumbled upon it. I'd describe this place as a Costco for all your alcoholic beverage needs with party supplies thrown in. Tons of cheese and snacks to serve along side your liquid refreshments. The staff was super helpful and very friendly. One staff member was quick to check on an Australian red I was interested in while another staff member chatted with my husband for five minutes about local San Diego microbreweries. The Australian selection was a bit thin, but the SD brewed beer selection was ginormous. The store is spacious, clean and well lit. It's easy to find where you're going. And on the night we happened to be there, there was a $1/a glass beer tasting. I'm from Canada where liquor prices tend to be very high so I can't comment on whether the prices were competitive, but they seemed like a deal to me. Can't get much better than that. read more

Without a doubt the best Bevmo in SD. It is so large it even sells mini refrigerators and has an entire aisle dedicated to tequila mixers. If you are looking for local microbrewed bottled beer, such as Stone, Ballast Point, Ironfist and Lightning, stop here. Most bevmos will carry like 2 or 3 bottles from each brewery, while this location dedicated an entire shelf to a brewery. The location actually sells Stone's 15th Anniversary bottle kegs, which a random customer called a party in bottle. Also stop for the Friday's Beer tasting from 4-7, the staff was very insightful and provided recommendations to match my beer palate. So if you are looking for some particular beer and all the small bottle shops are closed, choose this bevmo. read more

We were in need of wine for our non-profit event, and wanted to make it in time for the wine sale, and had arrived 10 minutes before closing time. Dave, the manager was patient and helpful. Even though we could not get our purchases decided on, Dave had to help us with the purchase so that he could help us decide on sale wines versus non sale. We must have changed our minds 3 times! He was extremely patient, and pleasant, and even walked them out to our car. We will need more party supplies in the future, and will definitely be stopping into this Bevmo again! read more

Wow...you'd think during a planned, big sale the store would be well staffed...not this time. ...and the staff that was there couldn't answer questions on craft beer or vodka varieties. The manager, no name tag, just a t shirt, finally showed up after ringing the call button on the vodka case and abruptly asked, "yes?" Asked about some new flavored premium vodka and he didn't even know the brands that were carried...but claimed no one in the store "knows more about vodka than I do." With that we passed on a purchase. Store needs some definite regional management training and visits, if not some full mystery shopping. read more
