Drivers along the IH 35 corridor knew to slow down before, during or after driving in Selma. If not, there was a high probability you would receive a ticket. Nowadays, the speed trap persona is rarely mentioned. Most folks view Selma as a great place to reside with conveniences of living near a big city. Folks that live in Selma frequently commute back and forth to San Antonio, TX.

And Selma's enough to make you want to hang out here from dusk til dawn. Which would be quite a feet. Although trying to snake your way in here in traffic can be tough. But I don't mean to wine. On with the review. Salma is on the outskirts of San Antonio on the northeast side, right when you're heading to Austin or coming in from Austin. It's not too far out of town, and there are some pretty cute places and some decent food. And all the chain restaurants you can imagine seem to be here, and even a little bit of boba. It's nice here and traffic is not as bad as it is in some parts of San Antonio, and definitely not as bad as Austin, Houston or Dallas. It's a somewhat typical suburb and not too fancy compared to some. I like it, although I probably wouldn't live here.

We were favorably impressed by the place itself, and by the preparations and accomodations the City made, both for the many thousands of tourists expected to arrive, all at once, on the day of the eclipse, and for Kerrville's residents, who were certain to be affected by the influx of people and their cars, and by the demands these guests would make on local businesses and infrastructure. The City did a fantastic job of organizing, promoting and managing eclipse viewing opportunities around town. Besides hosting an "Eclipse Festival" in its Louise Hays Park, the city's Parks & Recreation Department opened the Kerrville Sports Complex as a parking and viewing location. This was not a free offer. Pre-paid parking, on either the Baseball/Softball side of the Complex or the Soccer side, cost $75 to $100, depending when it was purchased. I was happy to pay the fee, because I'm a planner, and reserved parking let me avoid driving around a strange town with a clock ticking in my head as the eclipse approached. It saved me from competing with other out-of-towners for a viewing spot. And best, it provided us with a secure stopping place, food, drinks, merch, portable toilets and easy access to the interstate, once the event was finished. I'd never heard of Kerrville before I started planning our excursion, and I don't think I'll have reason to visit again, but I'm grateful to the City and its citizens for their hospitality.

The authorities are out to get everyone who as so much breaths wrong there. They give off the feeling that they are waiting on every corner to try to catch someone to help fund the city. I know the fines help pay to keep the city looking nice and safe but it's a little too crazy. Go around this city unless it's for the lights.

A…read morepatient tragically died after aspirating during a colonoscopy, the result of improper preventative measures ordered by the surgeon who ordered the procedure. Four doctors were reported in connection with this tragedy: two who failed to carry out the preventative measures, one who falsely recorded that he interviewed the patient even though the patient was unresponsive and on life support, and another who falsified the cause of death. The TMB took no action against any of them. Instead of investigating thoroughly, the Board relied almost entirely on the doctors' own records--the same doctors accused of negligence. The TMB's process is not transparent and is heavily biased in favor of doctors rather than protecting the citizens of Texas. Families are left in the dark while doctors are given full access to testimony. You are not allowed to hear what the doctors say, yet they hear everything you submit. The Board even issues findings before the deadline for families to provide evidence has expired. On top of that, the TMB cannot even manage basic administrative tasks. They repeatedly failed to send me notices of their decisions. The entire system is designed to shield doctors, not hold them accountable. In my experience, the Texas Medical Board does not investigate, does not act impartially, and does not protect patients or families. It protects doctors--even when gross negligence results in death.
