Stopped in here before noon for a snack and found that Beyond Bread is located in the rustic Mountain Lemmon Lodge! Limited parking across the street for 4 cars but managed to find a free spot! The server at the counter was very helpful and cheerful. Shared their delicious lemon tart which was a bit on the sweet side but a little sugar once in a while doesn't hurt! You can see how good it was as I remembered to take a pic just before the last bite disappeared. The cappuccino was a very large one and they did have oat milk! It was great but had to share as they didn't have decaf. The best part was enjoying these treats in a wonderful, rustic environment surrounded by evergreens outside. read more

Double check all closing times as businesses do and can close earlier than expected or from the last time you visited ( our experience). Anyway, amazing food and good service. Drove up to Mt Lemon for the first time and popped in to this location which is actually within the Mt Lemon Lodge. Ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon and it was terrible. The tomato on the sandwich was literally white and had no flavor. The eggs were also overcooked, the coffee was cold. The kough-amaan pastry was okay but we'd definitely not go again. read more

I'm really happy for this location up on Mount Lemmon. It's a great place for lunch after hiking the plenty of trails around Summerhaven. The seating area is wonderful. We always eat outside, regardless of the time of year. The patio is absolutely wonderful. The folks behind the counter are very friendly, and the food is brought to the table in a timely manner. I had Rex's Revenge and it was great, good balance of the dressing against everything else. The bowl of chili was excellent as well. read more

After a long hike, we were starving and stumbled upon this gem. We ordered two sandwiches: Brad's Beef - roast beef, provolone, green chiles, red onion, and Russian dressing. We got it on the jalapeño cheddar bread, and it was phenomenal. Highly recommend switching to that bread--so much flavor. Rex's Revenge - chicken, shaved Parmesan, lettuce, tomato, and Caesar dressing on focaccia. Make sure to ask for extra Cesar dressing. It was a little dry. The ambience was great--there was a live band playing while we ate, which added such a fun vibe. For dessert, we grabbed a chocolate chip cookie. It was soft, gooey, and hit the spot. It's a small town with limited dining options, so expect a bit of a wait--but it's worth it. We'd absolutely come back! read more

Fine since it was the only thing available but we wouldn't return unless we had to again. The Mac n cheese was super greasy chewy cheese and very little pasta for the price. The veggie sandwich was alright, but expensive also. The extra side salad for 3 dollars more was not worth it at all. The biggest piece of lettuce looked like it had been frozen and was soggy instead of crunchy. I don't think it should have made it to the plate. read more

Been here a few times now. Mostly for treats and hot cocoa, but this time I went for lunch. Staff was friendly as always, food didn't take that long to come out. I love their location as you are in the Mt. Lemmon Lodge. They provide games to play and just a beautiful outdoor seating area with big tables and some spots have propane fireplaces. My only gripe is that you have to purchase something to use the bathroom because they only give the code at the bottom of the receipt. They have the bathroom doors locked requiring a code to unlock. Is there a lot of people that just come to the lodge to use their bathrooms? I guess. Anyway, this time I got a Reuben sandwich. It was made with pastrami which I prefer over the corned beef ones. It wasn't bad but it wasn't memorable either. The sandwich was dry and the pastrami lacked enough flavor and the sauerkraut lacked zest. I've had several Ruebens from different restaurants across the USA and this one is just ok. Prices were very reasonable for the sandwiches I do want to try some of the other sandwiches just make sure it isn't just the reuben. The dessert I had was the brownie. It was good and a great price but way too rich and overly sweet. They need to balance the desserts better, IMHO. The have other desserts like pies and scones. They look very appealing. This place serves beer which is a great option. I think it's perfect for the lodge. I also think their hot cocoa is the right level of not too sweet. read more

Note: this review was from December 2023. This location is quite unique as it is in the mountain town of Summerhaven on Mt Lemmon. It has a roomy interior seating area and a very large outdoor patio equipped with heaters, a small fire-pit,a few games (shuffleboard, foosball, corn hole). The menu was fairly basic with limited items (choices of bread and only one soup), but generally the food was good, typical of the Beyond Bread chain. They also served a few beer & wine options. Service was slow as they have some staffing issues, but they were very courteous and apologetic about the wait. The decor and ambiance for the location was great, but would have preferred a more unique (non-chain) dining experience. read more

Walked up to a patio filled with dogs & sat down with my dog while my husband ordered a sandwich. $29 for a single sandwich and two iced teas. My husband verified with the cashier that where we were sitting was pet friendly. After my husband placed our order the manager came around and systematically asked dog owners to leave the premises. Waited 26 minutes for a sandwich and requested it be made to go since we were no longer welcome on property. They placed our to-go order on a plate in a bag - not wrapped at all. My humble suggestion? Get some signs if your patio isn't dog friendly and train your staff to answer that question the way management will enforce. As others have suggested - get your sandwich down in Tucson and drive it up here. Eating with a cookie at the Cookie Cabin instead is way more enjoyable :) read more

This review is specifically for the Mt. Lemmon Location, I'm a big fan of the Tucson Beyond Bread locations. However, this location doesn't live up to the quality standards and the price is higher than in town. You'd be better off packing an order from the Tucson location in a cooler and driving up with it. To start, they have apparent staffing issues. During our stay at Mt. Lemmon Lodge they only served pastries both days we were there and the pastry case was mostly cleaned out. Super disappointing as we were counting on eating dinner and breakfast here. On day trips, we've come up and had breakfast including the quiche and sandwiches. Unfortunately, the two people who ate the quiche left feeling unwell. Yet, we've had the same menu items in town without any issue. This location has some improvement to make before we'd return. Their hours are randomly reduced and menu limited. I hope they can improve their staffing and quality. read more

Same your time and money. Took the family on November 30th at about 2pm. Luckily it was far from 'packed' so it made for an easy choice. We were hungry and I should have recognized the signs abound. Somewhere between 1/5 and 1/8 tables were seated inside and out. Most people looked gloom and few had food at their tables. No biggie, right? We get to the cashier and get a 6'8" sloth telling us food is taking about 40 minutes. Mind you the menu is short and the sandwiches total about 6? Yes there are other options. We decided to wait it out and quickly fell in line with all the other customers: gloom and disgust. Seems someone didn't schedule sufficient cook staff or wait staff. We got drinks and some rack-hard cookies to hold us over during out 40 minute wait which turned into nearly an 80 minute wait. Then when the food comes we ask for kitchenware to eat our meal. Mr. Excitement #2 replies in a monotone while walking away that we need to get that elsewhere. Hot sandwich was barely warm. Staff were either given depressants or told to treat customers like that one Dave Chappelle 'Pop-Copy' skit from 20 years ago. read more

Disappointing in so many ways. We entered with our small dog in tow, walking past a number of customers sitting on the deck with their dogs. At no point during the long wait in line, or the ordering process, or the unreasonably long wait for our food were we told that we were not allowed to have a dog on the premises. After waiting for over an hour for our order, it was finally delivered, and along with it came an extremely smarmy gentleman who introduced himself as the manager, Jeremy, and told us we were not allowed to be indoors with our dog. He explained there was a "pet friendly area" out front, which turned out to be one bench and one table, both occupied. At no point did Jeremy offer so much as an apology for the wait, or the fact that he had waited until our food was placed in front of us before kicking us out. His attitude was enough to turn us off from ever coming to the Lodge again. Had Jeremy spent his afternoon working on assisting his clearly overwhelmed staff (or at least walking through the dining room apologizing to numerous hungry, frustrated customers), I may feel different, but his management style is clearly ineffective. read more

I had a sandwich here yesterday. The location is beautiful and the weather was glorious. It took forever to get our food, though. The roast beef sandwich on rye bread with Russian dressing was not bad, though it would have been better with a good mustard instead of the dressing. It came with a side of pickle chips, which were nice. Just being on Mt. Lemmon was such a nice break from the summer heat in Tucson that it was easy to forgive any shortcomings in the food and service. read more

Boy, what a disappointment!!!. there was a small center of chicken about 2" in diameter and 1" thick that was edible. The rest was hard as a rock. it was like it had been baked and re-baked for hours...could not even cut it with a fork. Plain lousy and a bad flavor of coal. Also, the salads...very bland and plain. Tuna salad....basically two canned tuna and mayo balls with thick cut huge unpeeled cucumber slices over a bed of lettuce. Not very healthy dressings... I hope management sends me a comp for the in town location. The mt. lemmon location just isn't working well. read more

I ordered the Molly Crisis sandwich with jalapeño cheddar instead of whole grain, but they still served it with whole grain bread. I can't recommend this sandwich; it was dry and bland. Additionally, the owner came over to address what they perceived as "noise" from our foosball game, which was just my three sons and me having fun. The atmosphere quickly soured, and we didn't feel welcome anymore, so we left shortly after. read more

We loved it up there! We go up the mountain a lot to escape the heat and be in the trees. While we enjoy the other restaurants, the limited hours are always a bummer. We love Beyond Bread in town, and felt the same way up here. It felt like being on vacation for an afternoon. The kids were super entertained playing foosball. The bathrooms and tables were clean, the staff was really nice, and we were pleasantly surprised with the prices. It's exactly what Summerhaven needed. read more

Went to have lunch today and arrived at 11:45 AM. I stood in line for over 40 minutes to place our order. Thirty minutes after placing our order a service member came a told us that they were out of one of the ingredients for one of the sandwiches. We had to adjust the order and wait an additional 15 minutes to be served. The sandwiches were good but really, an hour and a half to get a sandwich, ridicules. read more

It's just too bad the sandwiches are overpriced and don't come with the usual sides as they do in Tucson...I love the pasta. Homemade sweets, bread, goodies, and freshly squeezed OJ. Wonderful staff. I met the gal from El Paso who makes the best chocolate chip cookies - my husband wants more! And Vaughan - I can say so many things. A gem and an asset to the Lodge. I know he is a wonderful chef and also an abstract artist. I saw images of his works. The man is a wonderful soul. I think that the owner of the Lodge has hired people very carefully. Be good to the folks here, please. Their food is amazing. Gratitude, please. For those worried about prices. Keep in mind that this is not a regular destination like a city where we are spoiled with stores and delivery. Have patience. Think about how supplies are brought up and what happens when there is a storm - you cannot control that. If you don't support local, business dries up. You cannot place "big city, big box" cheap prices on a small business - quality costs. Support the dreams and the gifts that we are being given from these folks who have chosen the mountain life as labors of love. Leave Walmart where it belongs and don't expect it in Summerhaven. Support this tiny town that is built and sustained with love. We were stuck as our car broke down and had to stay the night. The sweets here were so good and I brought a bunch home.
