I haven't been here in a long while, so I was looking forward to joining a friend to try out an item on their June summer menu, escargot. The service was good, fast and friendly, and the restaurant was inviting. We shared the escargot, which in itself was okay. They were quite small and thus barely able to bring the true flavor. This dish was saved by the delicious garlic butter sauce and artichoke hearts that came with the dish. My friend and I agreed that we could have had the latter without the escargot and been quite delighted. I had the crepes florentine with chicken, which were perfectly prepared, flavorful, and correct in temperature. I highly recommend them. read more

Came in for a pre-mothers day brunch & the staff was very friendly!! Main issue really was the quality and execution of the food. The breakfast sandwich was lacking flavor & unfortunately the brioche was incredibly burnt & eggs were overcooked/dry. Others at our table enjoyed their food so it seemed like there was no general consensus, but the portions were small. Prices were expensive. We ordered the 2-2-2 ($16) and it was fine the sourdough bread was yummy! Personally I think the prices don't justify the value / quality, but really loved the wait staff. I need to stop in at Ghinis more often! Delicious food, nice patio (also nice indoor seating), relaxed ambiance, and friendly service earned if a 5 star rating from me! I dropped in here this afternoon for a quick solo lunch. I got the Italiano omelette with whole wheat bread and a side of hash browns, plus two slices of bacon ($16 plus a $4 upcharge for the bacon). The omelette was great. The bacon was crisp (overcooked for my taste). The hash browns and toast were OK. Overall, it's a pleasant place. Service was OK, though I was there shortly before closing time and they were clearly in shutdown mode. read more

Love, love, LOVE this cute & underrated little gem of a cafe in Tucson! Ghini's has a great menu for brunch or lunch with options for both more traditional American breakfast food and some delicious French staples. There's plenty of tables for seating indoors - I do wish there was an outdoor patio space, which would be lovely to relax and dine on..but I understand they have to work with what they've got in their strip mall location. The most recent time I came here, I got myself the Croque Madame for brunch and subbed the options for the side with a French Onion Soup for an extra $8. The French Onion Soup was a great size and tasted very rich and delicious - just the way you'd want it to be! I also enjoyed the Croque Madame - especially with a bit of hot sauce (available on each table) splashed onto it for some extra heat! For drinks, I highly recommend the French Mimosa! It's made with Lemon, Chambord, & Champagne. It has a great sweetness that is notable yet not overpowering, and also a bit stronger than your typical Mimosa with the alcohol!! One more thing - this spot is great for vegetarians & vegans. There are plenty of options on the menu, and they are also very accommodating when it comes to preparing vegan alternatives for just about everything on the menu. Most of my family is vegan, so it's one of the reasons the particularly love this cafe so much (in addition to the delicious French food)! Nice patio area, The burger is just another (arrived preformed frozen) Sysco burger however the onions & the cheese stepped it up. I asked for a side hash brown & some mayo. They forgot my side but did bring mayo. The mayo was room temperature at best, very watery & honestly horrible. I don't know what Mayo you order but it's the worst! Would I order the burger again, no. I would go back tho & try other interesting items on the menu. My server was not the person who brought my food. She did inquire about my meal from across the room tho. Discretion no, more like embarrassment. Some things need to be said table side only. What can I say? French onion soup could be one of my main food groups. I think only 1 other place in town even has it but GHINIS is my go to! Soooo good. So gooey. Back at Ghini's again. I keep expecting to lose faith in this place. The King doesn't live forever. Usually, a great place declines over the years. It's got to be hard to sustain excellence year-after-year. But not for Ghini's. Not sure how many years I have been eating here. Literally have never had a meal at Ghini's where I did not say afterwards: "wow that was absolutely delicious." Honestly, the food is so good here, it ought to be criminal to offer... since it is so addicting. This was our first time eating here when they were celebrating Bastille Day. After visiting France, I really enjoy French food and wish there were more French establishments. The female manager is a force of nature. I would hire her in a second. The young lady filling water was also efficient. The rest of the staff seemed disorganized. We ordered the chicken Florentine croque, the grilled avocado toast, and the red, white, and blue crepes. I thought everything tasted fresh and flavorful. While the grilled avocado toast has a memorable presentation, I think the name is a bit of a misnomer as the avocado did not appear to be grilled, and the bread, although certainly enjoyable, was not toasted. I look forward to coming back and giving their bakery a try as their cakes are aesthetically pleasing. I recommend eating here, especially if you have extra time to enjoy a meal. read more

Arrived for Sunday Brunch and no surprise it was extra busy, but we got a table for 3 on the patio within 10 minutes. Wait staff are friendly, attentive, and offer great suggestions. Tables are somewhat small, but we ordered in waves so it never was an issue and servers accomodated us. We went for it and started with a Classic Bloody Mary, Caramel Apple Mimosa, and a "Staff Favorite" Orange Cream Recovery Elixer. All are delicious, however we expected the Elixir to have more sweetness. Not a deal breaker, though. All our food was excellent. Not a bad bite. Super cute cage and bakery! Loved the French vibes! Matt was server and even though it was a super busy day he was on top of everything. Service was amazing and restaurant was clean with cute French Parisian aesthetic. I tried the cold sandwich and asked for my bread to be toasted. My meal came with choice of fruit or greens and I chose greens, I also had the Carmen GF dessert which tasted like tiramisu and sweet chocolate and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. I had lunch there with a couple of friends. I ordered the French Dip, one ordered a western omelette and one ordered spinach & cheese crepes. All of us ordered hash browns as the side because there was a sign saying they were the best in town. They were extremely good, not sure about the best in town. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table because it was noon and they were very busy. It's a cute place albeit small. It's in a strip mall so there isn't much room for expansion. Service was good, our drinks were refilled promptly. Staff was very friendly and even though it was busy, tables were cleared quickly and nothing left sitting around. As far as price, a tad pricey from what I remember from reading the menu. I don't know exactly because a friend paid the bill. We brought the dogs and sat outside on the patio. They are very dog friendly and even have a dog menu; some pup cups were ordered. When I want to feel like having a sit-down breakfast in Europe (or have guests that would enjoy such a departure in Tucson) this is where I go (Le Buzz is another option). Tables are packed closely together, even on the porch. That's just part of the experience, but conversational noise is fairly high (and only semi-private) as a result; hot drinks come in small, white ceramic cups. Service can be slow and it's not clear whether it's a shortage of waitstaff or a kitchen that was never intended to handle the expansion that the restaurant made years ago. Staff remains friendly. Suffice to say, intimate dining is not here Lol. My usual order (simply because it's my favorite bfast to get anywhere) is the corned beef hash. Alas, it is merely "good" (the corned beef is finely cubed and may not be fresh made/shredded on premises). Their eggs provencal is my dad's favorite and we both opt for the toasted french baguette as our bread option (small, oval loaf that's very crunchy on the outside and pairs terrifically with jam/butter or piled on with eggs). Coffee is bottomless and good and they do brew decaf as well. There's a bakery next door with both sweets and bread options. Parking is free/easy, though you might have a short walk. Weekends will have waits - you could put your name down and peruse the bakery or wander around the strip mall (there's a pet/fish store at the opposite end) or simply run an errand and come back. read more

Food is always delicious and prices are both competitive with certain dishes ( kids menu) and a bit eye opening (crepes) when the bill comes. Overall a place I like coming back to. Would not order again. I thought it would have the richness of French onion soup but it didn't. That was better but it was also just okay. The tricky thing about French food is you either like the seasoning level or you desperately want more. This was definitely the latter for me. I've also been to France and this place sticks to the very French way of under flavoring. Was hoping Ghini's had more to offer. The side of hash-browns was perfectly crispy, however it has no salt. Just shredded potatoes and oil. I had to add salt and pepper aggressively to my whole dish. We also got the French toast Suzette to share. It had a grand marnier sauce and whipped cream topping. Underwhelming to say the least. It was extremely one note. Just orange and nothing else. Would have been nice to taste some cinnamon or nutmeg in the French toast batter, but it was seemingly just egg. Also the bread in the Le croque was the same for French toast. The bread didn't have any discernible flavor or texture. Just very boring in both applications. We did try the eggnog and both thought it was good not great. It was sweet with vanilla but no spices, and thin on the egg flavor. Could have been richer and thicker. For $7 it's a tiny glass that's 1/3 filled with ice. Store bought taste better bc it's much thicker and richer; for half the price you can have a quart to yourself. Went to the bakery afterwards and the people manning it left much to be desired. No one is friendly or nice. Very much get in get out which is sad bc that's one of the things about French pastries, you want to gaze and inquire. The woman working couldn't describe the flavors at length for the pastries that were unfamiliar to us. Which was a bummer bc we could have learned something new and ventured out. I ended up getting the frangipane pastry that was dusted in something; a combo of flower and powder sugar maybe since it had a chalky mild sweet flavor. The filling was okay but there was maybe a teaspoon spoon of it so the effect overall was chalky and mildly sweet. Would not get again. This is one of those Tucson places that is meant for the snowbirds or people with very mild palates. If you're looking for wow, grand, delicious flavors this isn't going to do that. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! This was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. While the food is decent--which is why I gave this place another chance--the service was completely unacceptable. To start, I waited over 35 minutes for a table for one, even though there were multiple empty tables throughout the restaurant. Once seated, I ordered the Breakfast Margarita-mosa. The server asked if I wanted to make it a double, and I clearly said NO. I also ordered the Eggs Provençal with a side of sausage. The server didn't ask how many pieces of sausage I wanted (since it's offered à la carte), but I let that slide. My food came out fairly quickly, but my cocktail didn't arrive until I was halfway through my meal. When the bill came, I noticed I'd been charged an extra $5 for a double shot in my drink. I went to the cashier to point this out, and the server who took my order decided to jump into the conversation, arguing with me and insisting I had asked for a double--which I absolutely did not. She only stopped when the cashier had to cut her off. To make things worse, the manager refused to fix the charge, saying they couldn't adjust it because I had already drunk the cocktail. But how was I supposed to know I'd been served a double when I hadn't ordered it or tried the drink before? Then, the manager asked if I wanted to speak with the server AGAIN to "resolve" the issue--absolutely ridiculous! This place desperately needs to improve its customer service and professionalism. Between the long wait, the poor communication, and the dismissive attitude from the staff, this experience was frustrating from start to finish. While I appreciate the use of local ingredients, $40 for a cocktail and a basic breakfast is absurd. There are far better spots with shorter waits, better service, and a much more enjoyable vibe. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere! read more

In town visiting friend and found this gem on Yelp! We went in during breakfast time and it was busy on the inside but they also offered outdoor seating so we chose a seat outside. The staff were really friendly although we had two waitress, they both seemed to be on the same page and made our service nice and easy! I love the variety of vegan options they provide. I tried the Florentine Madame and it was so delicious! The eggs had so much flavor and that bechamel sauce was delicious. I chose the hash browns as my side and they too had so much flavor to it! My dad had heard that this cafe has the best French onion soup in town, so we gave it a try. It was pouring outside so we couldn't have a seat in their planter as suggested. We wrote our name on a list and awkwardly stood in everyone's way with others doing the same thing. 10-15 min later we were finally acknowledged and seated. The French onion soup came out ice cold and we had to request it heated up. I had eggs Provençe and maybe it was because I had been to France this summer, but they didn't blow my skirt up.
