TL;DR: Go to New York Golf Center instead - Club Champion Manhattan would rather fit you with the…read moremost expensive set than the set that best fits your game. My first Club Champion experience was in Palm Springs - I got fitted for new irons, which I love. Great experience there. In September of this year, and mostly because I had such a good experience with my iron fitting in Palm Springs, I came in to the Manhattan location (where I live) to get fitted for long game (driver / 3w / 5w). I came after work, so we only had about an hour - I asked if that was enough time to fit everything, and was assured it was (even though online if I remember correctly a long game fitting is supposed to take 2-3 hours). My fitting was rushed, and it felt like as soon as I made one good swing or said that anything felt good, my fitter was eager to get me into that club vs. checking all possible options. I ended up spending over $2,000 on a driver, 2w, and hybrid. My equipment was also not built correctly - the 2w clearly had something wrong with it from the first time I played with it and I needed to take it back into the store to get it fixed. While I was waiting to talk to my fitter to see what was wrong with it, another customer walked in behind me and showed me his club, which Matt also built, that had the face falling off of it. The results (including after the 2w was fixed) were inconsistent at best. I know I'm not a pro and equipment isn't going to magically get me to hit 100% of fairways - but I am a 4 handicap, so I have a relatively consistent swing, and I was consistently hitting the ball worse with all three new clubs than I was with my old clubs. I submitted a complaint directly to club champion, and they had me come back in to get re-fit with Jake Small, the "master fitter", who was great - he was able to take my on-course feedback, test a couple theories for why I was having so much trouble, and made a couple fixes to the settings of my clubs. I have only positive things to say about Jake - I've even recommended him to friends of mine (who have used him and also spent gobs of money). Even after Jake adjusted my clubs, I still wasn't achieving the on-course success I was hoping for. I chalked this up to user error and kept playing, until my driver snapped in half on a swing. The $450 shaft that Club Champion fit me into just split into two. I reached out to Jake to see if there was anything they could do given the 1 year warranty had run out - he basically said anything would have to go through the shaft manufacturer and the best I was likely to get was 15-20% off on a replacement. I went to get re-fitted at New York Golf Center, and the fitter there confirmed my suspicion - I was fit completely incorrectly. Not only were different heads better for me (I went with a Ping LST), but I performed better with one of the stock Ping shafts than with a similar shaft to what Club Champion fit me with. I feel strongly that my original fitting was done hastily, with little to no concern for actual on-course results and only with an eye towards getting the most amount of money out of me as possible. I won't be returning for future needs.

Came in for an iron fitting recently and wow...I hope the manager sees this because I did NOT feel…read morewelcomed as a customer. First of all, some context: I've been to Club Champion once before for a driver/wood fitting and the experience was pretty good (let's say 4/5 stars) - I got my recommended specs and left without purchase, just the fitting. I was looking to repeat this experience, just with my irons. When I entered the place was not busy, lots of guys standing around watching college football. I set my bag at the hitting bay and began speaking with Marc about what I'd like to get out of the fitting. I responded saying I'd like to get a feel for specs and models that would fit me best, but did not have intentions to purchase today and would save up for a future purchase. This did not settle well with Marc and when tension flared. "I don't really know why you're here then and if you're just going to jerk me off without buying then I just don't know why we're doing this (fitting)".....I was shocked to hear this and felt attacked as a customer. Very disrespectful and I confronted Marc on how rude this was. No shouting, no name calling, but a senior member came over to address the conversation and rather than mediate resolution he amplified the same positions as Marc, telling me he's not sure why I'm here and wants to make sure Marc's time is being used "efficiently." At that point I was about to pack up and walk out. WTF? Guys, read your website - step 6 of "What to Expect from a Club Fitting" clearly says "You are under no obligation to purchase." Go look for yourself: https://clubchampion.com/golf-club-fitting-process I'm adding +1 star here because I was able to stay and hit in the bay with a few clubs and cancelled the fitting. Go elsewhere if you want to be treated with respect and decency.
