The owner is shady right from the rip. I walked in with a simple machine screw bolt for handlebars. He starts doing the game all man use a real expensive. These are real expensive. I don't know. I don't know. Once he did that I said I'll just take it back please and then the next word out of his mouth was oh I was gonna give it to you for free. For free.? I told them straight up you're talking out of both sides of your mouth. You think I'm an idiot. I'm an elevator mechanic. I work with nuts and bolts for a living. I know it's expensive and what's not. I called them out on it. he told me I have a stick up my ass. I said you're trying to rob people and then I ask what would you charge me for this expensive bolt that you said. he replied back a dollar fifty I started laughing. As the reviews state you will get good service for a great price here. This neighborhood desperately needed a bike shop. Buzz is a great owner and is for the people. I came here twice now once for a tune up and another time for gear alignment. Both times I had no issues and was riding my bike out there feeling much better. I also purchased an elaborate bike pump for about 30$ which I thought was a good deal. The customer service and prices are definitely two reasons to come here. Terrible experience! I've never taken a bike for a tune up before so I don't have standard for how things should work but I know bad customer service when i feel it. I dropped a connondale off on Monday for a tune up and the owner told me it'll be ready in two days. I called on Thursday (they are closed on wednesdays) to confirm it was ready and the owner told me he doesn't have my bike and that no one ever left a connondale with him that week. I can't speak for everyone but I LOVE my bike, I've had it for almost a decade and cannondales are expensive bikes, so you can imagine how scary it is to hear that after you know you trusted someone with your bike and they have no idea where it is. Luckily, after talking for a few minutes, he finds the bike and says it should be ready in two hours but he'll call me back. He never calls me back. So the next morning I show up at 9:45am to retrieve my bike but the owner doesn't show up until 10:30am (they're supposed to open at 10:00am). I go in to get my bike and nothing has been done to it, it's still in the same spot I left it in, 5 days ago. He was apologetic and offered to drop my bike off at my home later that day but I tried to explain to him that I lost confidence because he seemed disorganized and didn't even know he had my bike until I called 3 days later. He had an opportunity to give me some assurance and make me feel like he took the matter seriously, the store had good ratings and I like to support small businesses so I was willing to give him another chance. But instead he began to berate me and tell me I have unreasonable expectations, I'm a nervous customer, and I should go to one of the corporate shops. So that's exactly what I did. I will NEVER trust this store again. The work may be good, I'll never know but never have I ever had a customer experience like that. read more

I wanted to like this store but the customer service was not up to any standards. I spent 400.00 to have a tune up, a seat , 2-new bicycles tires installed on my trek and the employees sold me on these great tires till 2-weeks to get them in. When I got my bike back the tires still have a clunk in the crank that I was having issues with the reason I wanted a tune up to grease the crank. I was told I didn't need to grease. The tires have a horrible lump in both trek oem tires. When the tires spin you can clearly see the lumps in both tires I was told the run flat tires needed to be re-inflated properly to to not have lumps I replaced the tire my self to find out I had basic tubes installed I replaced the tubes with brand new tubes and the lumps are still in the tires so I check the rims and the times are true. I called to ask about a warranty or replacing the tires I was told to bring the bike in so them could test the bike out I brought the bike back to the shop and took the bike for a ride crashed and the guy took my bike for a test ride came back and crashed my bike ( no big deal) and I was told the tires are bad and they have to replace the tires 8 days later I call and asked when my bike will be ready and spoke with the manager who was nasty with me on the phone and starting telling me how the have to run more tests in the bike to prove to trek the tires are bad for a warranty claim and gonna be another week or more for trek to warranty the tires and I would be with out the bike for another 2-3 weeks (it took them 2weeks the first time for new tires) I ask for new tires and was told the only way I can get new tiptoes is by paying them for new tires. I explained how the tires are brand new why do I have to pay for new tires again ? I ask to return them and was told no!! With a nasty attitude I told the manager I am on my way to pick up the bike I'll be them in 30 min and was told he's leaving he doesn't have time for me. When I got there only a nice lady was there and felt bad she didn't know what was going on but was very nice about the issues. I will not bring my bike back to this store ever. I would not recommend to go to this shop until the manager goes through better customer service training and learns how to speak to customer. Now I have to buy new tires and install them my self take apart the crank to grease the beating properly. I'm very disappointed with this shop. read more

My experience at the Bike Hub: - Long and messy warranty process with Trek - run-around updates from Buzz - excuses - literally put my life in danger (more on that below) This is not a good shop. Don't go here. I've been to many bike shops and this one is the worst. Long version: I took my Trek Madone to the Bike Hub for a warranty claim. Buzz didn't seem thrilled with the idea of carrying out the claim for me, but I figured it's his responsibility as a Trek dealer to deal with warranties, so he should be able to get it done for me. In addition I asked him to install a power meter crank arm, which is an easy job, I just don't own crank arm tools. Buzz informed me after about a week of doing nothing that he also didn't have these tools and he had to order them special for my bike. It took weeks to get the bike to Trek (shipping was 3 days). Part of the wait was due to Trek and some miscommunication about documents needed for the warranty but the bulk of the wait was due to Buzz not having the bandwidth to assemble/disassemble the bike and needing to order those crank arm tools. Eventually the bike made it to Trek and Buzz told me that Trek told him the frame was not repairable and that I needed to buy a new frame. He was eager to sell me a new frame, offering a 5% discount, yada, yada, "I'm doing you favor because I feel bad". So imagine my surprise when I called Trek with the service number and it took merely minutes for the Trek rep to tell me the bike was definitely serviceable and that a new frame was unnecessary. Lesson learned: Buzz just wants to sell bikes. After 2 months I got the bike back with the power meter installed. I was charged $200 for these shenanigans- Buzz could have done right by me here and waived his assembly/disassembly fee for the warranty but he didn't. Again, he just wanted to make money. To top it all off, I just rode this weekend and when I got back the crank arm fixing cap was missing and my crank arm was wobbling. THE CRANK ARM TOOL IS ONE HE SPECIFICALLY ORDERED FOR MY BIKE. I'm not sure if he just didn't put it on or if he put it on improperly, but there's no excuse. My crank could have fallen off while I was riding, and if that happened while I'm going 40mph down hills in the Palisades (super popular riding spot here in NJ) I literally could have died. I asked if I could watch him tune up my bike and then he gave me a 15 minute crash course on how a bike SHOULD sound and how to know if there's something wrong with it so that now I have more confidence in the fact that bike is working properly. I just got a bike for Christmas and needed the seat sized down quickly before a bike riding class. They were quite busy over the phone so I just stopped in on a whim hoping they could fix on the spot in under 45 min. To my surprise, Julius was so kind and did it pretty much instantly in about 10 minutes or so. He also gave me safety updates on my bike that I had no idea about (I'm new to all of this). I had a really great experience here. First of all, the owner of the shop goes above and beyond to help you with whatever bike needs you may have. I'm piecing together a bike and he worked with his suppliers to get me the parts I need if he didn't have them already in stock. This included quick phone calls for updates and pictures of products available. This is outstanding customer service and will be reason enough for me to be a loyal customer. He's also a really nice guy. Second, they're very knowledgeable and do great work. The mechanic knew more about technical details on parts than other bike shops I had been to in the area (Grove St.). Last, they are more competitive on prices here than close by competitors and they have a better selection. Plus the shop just looks nicer. I'm glad to have such a good bike shop in my neighborhood and I'd recommend anyone to go there. read more

Had great service here. Came In not knowing anything about my bike. All I knew is that the bike wheels were flat and breaks were tight. After 3 days had a call that the bike was ready and it was good as new. Basic tune up, breaks adjusted and both tires fixed. Rode my bike the same day and it was smooth. Moved to Bergen-Laf area in the past year and just discovered this place. Had old cruiser that I wanted to take down to the shore. Dropped it off and he way really backed up and said he needed a few days and I was leaving for the shore then so I said not to worry about it and take his time! The best bike shop i've ever been to! I love that I live down the street from here! When I first moved in, I had an old beat up bike (also i'm pretty sure it was a kid's bike lol). They may be a great bike shop, but I wasn't able to go there, but not because I didn't try. I am passing through with an unexpected repair, and Zahgeb emailed yesterday that I could come by at noon today and he'd try to fix it. I did, about 12:10 and the shop still had all its shutters down although Yelp said it opened at 10. Luckily, as I had gone out of my way to come to the neighborhood to find the bike shop, en route the airport, another bike store down Monticello street, Garcia Brothers, could help me on the spot. read more

I was about to order the FX3 from a Hudson valley shop , but decided to compare prices in JC. Time to Yelp! Reviews were mixed on a lot of shops. Some were reported to have rules requiring shoppers to wear Spandex for service. Next! Then there was the 5 stars for Bike Hub,. Oh please, nothing is ever truly that good, and it's off the beaten path from me. I decided to wager the price of the Uber anyways to check it out. Here's what I found: Small shop, limited inventory, but their service is tops. I explained that I hadn't rode a bike in years, and wanted something to ride along the Hudson waterfront. I said I was considering the FX3, but wanted to know my options. They had me test out two levels down. No up selling! I ended up ordering the FX3 from Bike Hub. It was priced less than the one in the Hudson valley shop. They didn't have it in the shop, but had it ready for me within a week. They even assembled and installed a dog basket I ordered online from chewy.com. Buzz and Olivia are very knowledgeable and accommodating. No pressure sales. Months have passed and both me and my pet our loving our new ride. A very belated thank you to Buzz and Olivia. read more

This place is undoubtedly the best bike shop in Jersey City. I had some OK experiences at other bike shops in the past, but none like the service I got from Buzz @ TBH. He worked with me to order the bike I wanted online at the price I found it for, and let me know that if the bike didn't work out he would give me credit towards another one. He assembled it quickly, fitted me with a helmet, gave me all sorts of tips for city riding (I felt a little nervous since this is my first bike in 4-5 years). The shop is beautifully decorated and they carry Trek which I feel is one of the better quality bike brands for the money. I rode out with no problems--it feels great to be on a bike again. Amazing! I actually bought a bike last summer. It was the last one they had in the shop and the owner gave me a great deal. It was my first ever bike and he offered me lots of advice and one thing he said was that biking would change my life. And, it did!!! I started riding everyday with my sister. Long rides, soul searching and great conversation lead to my realization that I was a lesbian, I left my husband and now I'm in great shape, love my bike and have a hot girlfriend. Excellent store. I visited The Bike Hub in late December hoping to get a handbrake for my new ride. The owner, Buzz, was extremely helpful and patient. He took his time and explained what I needed and what needed to be done. He really went above and beyond. I got a great price on the brake, a light, and few other nifty accessories. Speaking of accessories, they have a whole wall full of them. They even have handlebar streamers! Do I need to say more? Fine... I'll also add that they have what looks like a mechanic's shop in the back so if something needs to be fixed or attached they look well prepared to help with that. They charge a small fee for labor but if you don't want to get your hands dirty it may be well worth it. It's a laid back store with a friendly vibe. It's NOT intimidating (major points for that). The prices seemed very reasonable. And even though it's a relatively new business, it feels like it's been in the neighborhood forever. This is a wonderful shop so I hope they do well and stick around. Definitely check them out. P.S. The store is super easy to get to. The 87 bus stops right outside their door if you're coming from Hoboken or JSQ. It stops across the street if you're coming from the south. read more
