I was recently in Montgomery for a work trip, and stopped in one rainy evening with a group of 25 for an early dinner. This place did not disappoint. When our Tour Bus opened its doors, the staff's eyes did not widen with fright, rather twinkle with excitement. For those of you who are old enough, you will understand when I say this place made me feel nostalgic because the wave of aroma that hit me when I walked through the doors was that of pizza in from the 1980s. It was marvelous. In addition to all of the standard pizza treats and options, they had a great lineup of sandwiches, calzones, and salad that made every single person in my group happy. Moreover, they even had great beer on tap. If you like dark beers like me you'll love the Porter that they have in house. You would think with a group our size that we would've been waiting all night for Service, but that food started coming out within five minutes of the first order, and everyone was happy. This is a great place for small groups, large groups, and everything in between. It's worth saying that I was inspired for the first time in my life to eat a meatball sandwich. I could only handle half of the sandwich because it was so large, but the next time I'm in Montgomery I will definitely go back to this place for another. This place has the worst customer service I've ever seen. No one greets you when you walk in. They all frown at you and are unhelpful. I ordered a pizza on their website, informed that my order would be ready at 8:52. Walked in at 8:20 and watched these so called workers walk around and do nothing. No sense of urgency what so ever. At 8:50 I got up walked close to the counter, one of the females asked me about my order. When I told her it was online and showed her my name, I found out that they hadn't even made my order. It was still sitting on the counter. Their excuse was that they were busy. I was sitting there watching them walk around as if my order was not important enough to get to. Oh, and let's not start on the unprofessional attire that the staff was wearing. Distasteful and simply disgusting to look upon in what I thought was a business. The whole time I was in class all we did is a group was wait until we were able to get some authorizations to go have a bite to eat off base. Naturally, asking around paid dividends because word-of-mouth is stronger than any review could be. That being said, when a vast majority of folks got back to the dormitories and said that this was the place to be, it peaked my groups interest. Boy was I pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the taste of the ingredients on these handmade hand tossed pizzas. When I tell you that we went back three times in 10 days it is not an exaggeration, but merely a retailing of facts. We sat in very tables and booths and even enjoyed a bit of basketball in a separate side room with big screens On one outing, we were having such a good time just enjoying company and regaling entails a victory that we straight up ordered a round of cannolis for the table. Yes, the cannolis were absolutely delicious and yes, the Godfather was certainly quoted. If you are reading this and on the fence as to whether or not you should go I suggest you minimize the screen and pull up maps so you can make your way there. The owners are great. Nestled in an old warehouse, the vibe is that of a hopping college pizza joint. Pizzas are either 12 or 16 inches and are either hand tossed or square pan. I ordered pan the first time we went, but they were out of pan. The crust is flat, thin, and the edge crust is toasted pretty hard. But, the cheese is plentiful and good quality, as are the toppings. They do not have fresh basil, sadly. Service is slow. You walk in, stand at the register to order. We waited about 10 minutes to order the first time. The second was faster (3-4 min). They have 4 ovens and a hefty call in business. So, even though we were the only ones in line, there is a significant wait. On Superbowl Sunday, it took an hour for our pizzas to come out. You can order by the slice, but their slices are pricey. Buying 2 slices (1/4 pizza) is almost as much as a 12 in. Since Mellow Mushroom (my favorite pizza) that was 2 blocks away closed, this is the best pizza around unless you want to go to Prattville. Good beer selection that can be bought by the pitcher (9 beers per pitcher). read more

I visited Bibb Street Pizza twice during May 2026. After my first visit, I returned a second time because I wanted to be certain that what I experienced the first time was real and not simply a misunderstanding on my part. On both occasions, I was completely ignored. The employees clearly saw me standing there, yet no one acknowledged my presence. No one greeted me, no one said they would be with me shortly, and no one made any effort to assist me. The experience left me feeling not merely unwelcome, but openly disdained. The situation reminded me of what Ralph Ellison described in Invisible Man, the feeling of being unseen despite standing plainly in view. Even growing up in Montgomery during the 1960s, if I accidentally wandered into a "Whites Only" section of a store, such as the upstairs lunch counters at S. H. Kress & Co. or H. L. Green downtown, a clerk would at least tell me I was in the wrong area. As a child, I appreciated being told directly, because I have never wanted to remain where I was not wanted. The employees at Bibb Street Pizza made their feelings known through their actions during my visits in May 2026. I am not angry, nor am I trying to discourage others from patronizing the business. However, I believe the staff should understand how their actions may be perceived by others, whether that was their intention or not. I sincerely wish everyone there well. I ordered a calzone with pepperoni, extra sauce, and NO cheese because I am lactose intolerant. They completely ignored that, put a different kind of cheese in it anyway, and then still charged me for extra cheese. To make it worse, they also charged me for extra sauce that was supposed to be INSIDE the calzone, yet the sauce wasn't even inside--it was dumped on the side instead. That's unacceptable. On top of that, the calzone was made wrong and tasted disgusting. They clearly don't understand what a calzone even is. The size was an absolute joke--this was the smallest "calzone" I've ever had, smaller than a paper plate. A quesadilla is bigger than what they served me. The restaurant itself was also a mess. It was very slow, yet I couldn't find a single clean table to sit at. It seems like they're running a great family business. To make a nice comment, my Pepsi tasted like Pepsi. Sadly, the pizza has absolutely no flavor. The marinara sauce tastes like tap water. They were pleasantly accommodating to my gluten free pizza crust request, however provided the wrong pizza toppings (ordered the cheese pizza from the "specials", yet received a marinara based pizza with only mozzarella as the topping). We were in a rush traveling through town so did not bother to request a remake during the busy lunch rush. The pizza had to be smothered in Parmesan and red pepper flakes to make it edible. The mozzarella sticks had a great cheese pull and crust, however, the accompanying marinara sauce again fell flat. The ranch was very thin and tasteless, which at 50¢ a cup was disappointing. Their pizza is made to order, and it's delicious! They serve Pepsi products, as well as iced tea--all self served. It was a cold rainy night and I decided I wanted to get some pizza. I had not been to Bibb Street in quite some time. When they first opened, I remembered a very thin crispy New York style pizza. Unfortunately, I have not been to Bibb Street in quite some time, and it was not the pizza it used to be. The pizza was floppy, greasy, and not as flavorful as I recalled. I was severely disappointed. The garlic knots were OK but slightly undercooked and the cheese was not fully baked into the knot. When you walk in, you order first before sitting down. We ordered the large supreme pizza, and it's huge! The crust is on the thinner side and it was pretty good. The calzone was an interesting one; it wasn't what I'm used to. You do pay extra to add pepperoni in the calzone. Everything is made in house which is cool, but I wouldn't say that it was the best. The service was on point. Make sure to ask for plates and sauce like ranch if you like to dip your pizza in it. The two employees I interacted with were nice. You do get a number with your order. They give you a taste test for different beers. The empty tables were pretty dirty. They had pretty good traffic on a Saturday night at around 9pm. This was our first stop in Montgomery, and it was a good one! The place was hopping, so we found it difficult to park, but once we got our food we understood why, and it was at lunch time for everyone. The pizza was delicious, nice and crisp on the bottom. We had to eat outside, and in the pouring rain, we still had a spot. With no flies outside. It looks so fun inside though, and if it was less busy, we would've stay in. Honestly, I'd return to this establishment over and over and over for three reasons: the food, the staff, and the atmosphere. Walking in I noticed two things, the interior is smaller than what I originally thought and they were blasting a little Blink 182, which was a great sign. immediately, the staff began making small talk with us, gave us great tips on different local restaurants, and told us the amazing set up they have with the brewery next door, Common Bond. Apparently, they allow you to bring beer back and forth between the restaurant and brewery, and there's a little patio area with corn hole and chairs that they share as well. The interior, although small, has a relaxing vibe to it. Like I said, the staff is extremely friendly. I loved making small talk with these guys and learning about their beer selection. Not only do they have a great beer selection, but they allowed us to sample them as well. My favorites were the two sours they have on tap. Also, their coffee stout is fairly tasty. It's made with cold brew so the coffee flavor is more intense then most coffee stouts I've enjoyed. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the garlic knots with fresh in-house made marinara and a large neopolitano pepperoni pizza. The large, depending on how much your party can eat, feeds about four people (8 slices total). One thing that is really cool is they hand-toss the pizza at the counter right in front of you. I don't think I need to say it again but I will, this place is awesome! It's probably a good thing that I don't like here or I'd be in trouble. Side note: the restaurant has a private room that seats about 8-10 people comfortably. Went last night around 7. It was busy but not overly so and there were plenty of staff behind the counter. Party of four, we ordered our food. Thirty minutes later, they finally called my number and when I got to the counter, he hadn't even plated it yet. Fifteen minutes after that, two more at my table got their food. The fourth person never got hers and when she went up to question it, was told "Oh, yeah, we'll start it now." She got a refund. My calzone was overly cooked to the point that the crust could barely be torn with my fingers, let alone a fork. My history tells me if you can't get garlic knots right, the rest suffers. These garlic knots were beefy and solid (though could have more garlic) but my problem is...if you make my pay more for marinara or other sauces I EXPECT it be included. The fact that I have to check to confirm is a huge deduction. Standards matter and I should get what I paid for (in this case it wasn't the added sauces).
