We didn't go because they were fast (they weren't), and we didn't go because they were friendly (that could have used some improvement, as well). We went regularly because they served GOOD pizza--freshly-made crust with the fresh toppings of OUR choosing, and we got to watch them make it! It was a nice, clean restaurant with nice music playing and TVs to watch. They had self-serve soft drink machines, and I could drink as much as much as I wanted (that's important to me, as expensive as drinks are these days). I was sad to see them go! read more

My first trip to Pieology wasn't what I expected. I guess I was thinking more of a sit down restaurant but this is an pizza subway - make it at the counter as you go. Each pizza is $8.95 with as much sauce and toppings as you want. There is an extra charge for the more extravagant dough. They do have chef-inspired creations also for $8.95 such as Spicy Italian and BBQ Chicken. My date and I chose the BBQ chicken. It had chicken, red onion, blue cheese, mozzeralla, olive oil, and BBQ sauce drizzled on top. The blue cheese added a nice zing to it but to be honest, I had a better BBQ chicken pizza from Pizza Hut. I think the chicken needed some type of seasoning to it like black pepper or a rub to add more to this pizza. The BBQ sauce was a sweet type. I downloaded the Pieology app and received a free order of ooey-gooey bread. The ooey-gooey bread was better than the pizza. It had mozzarella and cheddar cheese and was brushed with garlic butter. There was plenty of cheese on it. I was not impressed with the marinara that came with it. The marinara needed more zest to it. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Service was also very helpful. The restaurant was very clean at the time I came through. I would like to come back and try more at Pieology. But if my next pizza is on the level of the BBQ chicken, then my 2nd trip could be my last trip. read more

Not sure what's happening at this place. Out of olive oil, which Is the main ingredient in majority of the pizzas. They looked in the back and didn't have any. That means it's an ordering/managerial issue. Additionally, they had no fountain drinks. Not sure if the machine was broke or if they didn't have syrup. This place needs an overhaul. read more

I went as they had a closed signed I begged the manager where I was coming from and to please let me order. I tried to place my order on the app but it wouldn't allow me since it was 1 hour before close. When I called, the lady said she could not accept orders over the phone since it was 1 hour to close and told me to try the app. I told her I already tried and would just place the order in person. When I got to the restaurant the toppings were spread out similar to Subway, Chipotle, and Moe's. The oven was behind the food so you could see your pizza baking. The pricing was good and you could get as many toppings as you'd like without additional cost. I ordered the thin crust pizza and picked the toppings of my choosing. When the man finished making my pizza, he put it in the oven. Another guy came from the back with a mop and bucket and started mopping the floor right where they prepare the food!!! He also handled food WITHOUT cleaning his hands or putting on gloves. The other worker was also cleaning the floor and handled food WITHOUT cleaning hands. I thought it was so nasty and disgusting for them to mop the entire floor while food was out and not covered. I could understand if they were cleaning a spill, but no they were cleaning the entire floor because they were going to close in 30 minutes. As you can see, my pizza was BURNT!!! When I opened the box it smelt burnt! This was absolutely horrible and NASTY!! I do NOT recommend at all. Go to Pies and Pints, Papa Johns, Dominoes, or even Pizza Hut. read more

Why do I even go here. I ordered a pizza and told the woman at check out that I'd be sitting outside. 30 minutes later, still no pizza. When I go in to ask where's my food, they can't find it Then when I ask for the manager, the gentleman by the name of "Reggie", who sitting on the dining room floor on a computer claims they looked and couldn't find me. Clearly he did not look right out front on their patio where I said I would be. Poor customer service, you'd be better off going to Walmart and buying a frozen pizza. It's a Sunday 2:45 pm there are 2 people working here. Both bathrooms have no toilet paper, all of the tables are dirty, the ice machine isn't working, the napkins in the dispenser are coming out stained with grease, the garbage cans are overflowing, there's no music playing in the restaurant and the employees look like they are hating their jobs right now. I don't blame them. They need help and definitely a manager. I just watched the guy who cooks the pizza push the garbage down with his bare hands and then walk right back in the kitchen to cut another pizza. C-19 and the govt is destroying all businesses and we have to wake up! Go back to work people! This is just so sad to see. Placed a mobile order for there new Western BBQ pizza, cheese sticks and two other pizza one of them being there thick crust pizza. Needless to say I was very disappointed. The thick crust pizza tasted like a cheap frozen pizza. The other thing was when I went to get my order they didn't make western BBQ pizza so I had to wait the. They made it with an attitude that they just threw stuff on it didn't put stuff that should have been on it. There was no French's onions no ranch no BBQ sauce after the cook. So while waiting the the pizza to be made the rest of my order got cold. No sorry just you can have a brownie for the wait. After spending 33.00 all I got was a brownie and a screwed up pizza missing stuff and not even the same size as the rest of them. Company responded asking me to email them. The pizzas is made to order. The pizzas are reasonably priced. Have a couple of toppings the same price as when you have them out on everything. Outstanding customer service and food!! My husband and are vegan. Pieology offers several pizza crust options including a Cauliflower crust (not gluten-free) and a vegan gluten-free thin crust. They also have Daiya cheese and many vegan toppings. The restaurant plans to expand menu to include more plant-based "unmeat" options. We were celebrating my husband's birthday on 1/31/19 and the staff made us aware of the the BOGO birthday special and free bread sticks with an app download (with a purchase of an entree). We ordered 2 pizzas, bread sticks (with Daiya cheese), and a lemonade and our total was $14. Best way to describe it is personalize size pizza with unlimited toppings. Mad good! We love us some Jesus so seeing scripture on the wall was a double portion. Ever since the Birminham location closed we try and stop at the Monterey location . Today was the worst . The last time the pizzas weren't ready even though we place the order on line in advanc, their excuse was "oh we just got the order and them they work in very slow motion Today ordered them 46 min in advance. get here and only employee in the store says "someone just picked them up". He then started making one that wasn't for us while a lady also was waiting in to order. Then he started making ours, another customer came in and said she got the wrong order, the employee said "ah this are yours " and tried to give it to us we no they been out of the store in other hands. he then started making ours. But if you're a fan of the "Subway Restaurant" style of choosing what you want on your pizza, then this is way way better than the $5 Hot'N Ready we all hate to love. 3 beers on tap too! I was pretty impressed with my pizza. For $8.95 and unlimited toppings you can't beat that. If your pizza sucks it's your fault as you chose every ingredient that goes on there. Only issue I had with this location was the time it took to get through the line. Their brochure states "Don't be concerned about a long line. We move fast!" No you don't. It took me 25 minutes to go through the line with approximately 15 people in front of me. Now once you order, the food does come out relatively quickly. This business model seems like it will work and at the price point it can't be beat. Give this place a try. They do offer a 10% military discount. read more

An unusual interaction at the restaurant today. The staff argued with my party that Parmesan cheese and Romano cheese are the same thing. The staff was abrupt and not professional. Pizzas were soggy as if the oven may be set incorrectly. Not a pleasant experience due simply to the unprofessional staff. Also, the payment process includes a request for a tip before service is even rendered. It's not a good business practice to ask for more money based solely on the staff's ability to add the toppings (except Romano) that I point to. And they did it with a bad attitude. If you like the crafted pizza like myself you definitely will like this place. What makes Pieology different from most of the places where you can custom create pizza is that they have different types of crust. They offer six premium crust from artisan thin, artisan thin wheat, pierise thick, gluten free, cauliflower crust, and hand crafted deep dish. You order at the counter, you select the crust, the sauce and the cheese first. They have several different types of sauces and cheeses that you can choose from. I chose the hand crafted deep dish. This was shaped just like New York Sicilian pizza. The crust was pre baked and they the put the cheese on first before they add the sauce like Chicago style deep dish pizza. I asked them to put the sauce down first and they gladly did. I only wish that I would of asked for extra sauce on my pizza. Got the spicy sausage which was sliced just how I like it. I also got pepperoni, bacon and mushrooms. You pay at the register and they give you a number and bring it to your table. They also have additional sauces that you can put on top of your pizza. For those who don't want to create their pizza you can order from the chef inspired signature recipe pizzas. For those eating on the lighter side they have create your own salads, or you can order a classic Italian salad, Greek salad, spinach salad and an Elevated Caesar salad. Another difference is you can or cheese bread and a cinnamon churro pizza for desert as well as chocolate chip cookies. My pizza was delicious the cheese was crispy on they edges and the pepperoni curled up as were crisp to perfection. We stopped here while we were charging our car at whole foods. We had the thick crust pizza ($1 extra) with red sauce, pepperoni and black olives. You can get as many toppings as you like for $8.95. But if you want only one topping and the thin crust it's $6.95. We also ordered ooey gooey cheese bread for $4.95. It did not arrive at our table at the same time as our pizza. We finished our pizza which was good but I had to go to the counter to ask about the cheese bread. It had been sitting on the back counter. No one had cut it and delivered it to our table. The adults working there were very pleasant and explained the ordering process. I think the other employees weren't keeping up and were disorganized. This was my second time ever trying this franchise. The first time was definitely better and set the bar high. The crust is nice and crunchy but this time around there wasn't much space left for edge crust. The toppings pooled over the edge. That made it really messy to eat. The toppings also didn't stick to the crust. I allowed the pizza to cool for 15-20 minutes and the toppings slid off. I give the overall flavor a 3 out of 5 stars. I was the only customer inside so it took a fair amount of time to place/receive my order. I wouldn't stop in this location again unless everything else in the area was closed. read more

It was our first time here and visiting for family reunion this was the first thing we had here and i know i will be going back before we leave to head home. I like the options of toppings not your ordinary toppings carrots, cucumbers spicy chicken, spinach and pinneaples. For $33 total my husband, daughter, and I had our own pizza. The wood fire oven cooks the pizza fast but they don't wipe the black suet off so it gets everywhere. The employee's aren't friendly at all either. I've been to the one in Auburn, and was not overly impressed. However, there isn't anything like Pieology in the Gump. Decided to give it another chance for lunch, and it just isn't all that great. It honestly tastes like a lunchables pizza mixed with a Subway sandwich shop, It's probably the worst pizza I've had since they served "pizza" at my public school cafeteria. I won't go out of my way to eat here again, and I REALLY wish this place was an Uncle Maddio's Pizza instead.
