This was a pretty awesome place and highly recommend going for a visit if in the area. It was about $40 for the 2 of us to come here. There are so many exhibits that showcase biblical history. Parking is free. They also offer a dining package for a last supper. Gift shop has so many nice things. Staff is super friendly. When were visited there were 2 field trips going on. We visited tonight as part of their Starry Night Experience. We had a delicious meal and experienced the story of Jesus's birth with candlelight and caroling. Our guide was good and shared several insights that made the story even more meaningful. read more

Wow! What a great place to visit and learn. Made me think i was on the set if The Chosen! It's not a big place but it was perfect for me since i now have a heart problem. I walked around with my cane and found lots if places to sit and catch my breath a bit. The have guided tours but because of my health we opted out. Next time we are going to do their biblical meal. This is not the best place to bring a kid. I'll talk more about that, but I thought I'd say it first in order to help answer the number one question on someone's mind. They are accommodating to children. Yes, but it isn't a place where kids will have an exciting time. In fact, they may find it boring. I don't say that with the least criticism or complaint. What they have here is stories to tell, artifacts, and history. It's a very interesting place to come if you want to learn. If you want an exciting time, this is not the place for you. Now they do have a playground area where children can learn how to dig for artifacts. And they do have a class to teach making the bread, which resembles Mexican style flour tortillas. I forget the name for it. Naan maybe. You have to sign up and schedule this with a group though and none were available for us. In fact, we were the only ones with a child, and ours was 3 years old. Vern is such a nice guy and very knowledgeable. He was our tour guide. He talks and tells stories. It is evident that he has been telling these same stories for years and has added many things to them. He talks fast. He is a good story teller and he is funny and interesting, but he talks fast and you have to listen fast. So after explaining how bomb proof their building is, he takes us through a locked door where actual artifacts are displayed behind glass. We all crowd around in front of each window while he explains what each of them are. They protect this part of the museum and nobody is allowed inside without strict supervision. Then we go eat our meal, which was supposed to represent the typical setting that a Passover or the Last Supper might have been, and are served food that is typical of the day. During this meal, we were seated with the same group of people who went through the artifact museum. We were not able to talk much, as this experience was just listening to more of Vern's stories for about an hour. Halfway though the meal, my 3 year old was having trouble keeping herself entertained, so I gave her my phone to play games on, to lessen the chance she would disrupt the group. As for the food itself, this was not particularly a great meal. It was expensive and I made the joke that they sure did eat expensive food back then. It's not so much supposed to be a great meal as it is a learning opportunity and a way to experience Jesus's and the disciples' lives. In that regard, I was disappointed. Food was served on modern dishes instead of handmade pottery. Food didn't appear to have been cooked on an open flame. It just didn't seem authentic. Vern did explain that they have to meet modern laws and conform to the health department, so that just took all the realness out of it. After our meal, we went outside into the yard where there were replicas of this and that. Tents, wine press, olive press, water wheel, a house, and other such things. Vern stopped at each one telling stories and explaining things. My little one was as good as she could be, for as long as she could be, but she was in no mood to stay quiet and listen to stories anymore. I was able to lead her ahead of the group and walk around with her outside in order to keep from disrupting the group. I would very much have liked to listen to more of Vern's stories, but from a 3 year old's perspective, it just wasn't a fun place to be. I might add that although this is a Christian place, teaching things about Christianity, it was not necessarily a religious place or a religious service. It was purely historical and informative. This is the most rewarding visit I have made in my lifetime. I live in Dublin, GA. My son, who is a resident of California came down in August of 2022, and gave me the birthday trip. To my suprise he planned it with his siblings, who joined in, along with my grand children and made it a family affair. Didn't any of us knew what to expect. Our attention was captured from the moment we entered the grounds. The Biblical foundations were sights to behold. I hope to return some day and gain more insight and knowledge relating to the settings of the Biblical History. The Scripture became more relevant as a result. I stopped by this place on my way back to Houston. As far a biblical centers go, this one is a must visit. It ties in actual scriptures with the recreation of archeological sites and artifacts. This place is spectacular, and I definitely recommend visiting at least once in your lifetime. read more

This visit was amazing! I was staying near by and passed a sign headed to the hotel. I stopped in with my grandma and we both enjoyed ourselves. Our tour guide was full of knowledge and poured it out on us. We learned so much! The center itself is so well designed that it was a hot summer day, but we remained comfortable. I was unsure when pulling up, but left amazed by the experience. They have been able to get an incredible amount of stuff on a fairly small property. If you are going, then I would highly recommend the tour and biblical meal. Our guide, Vern, was an amazing wealth of knowledge and did a great job bringing the Bible to life. We experienced life in a tent as a Shepard, saw a sheep fold, tombs, crucifixes, a threshing floor, alters, wine press, olive presses, millstone with a water wheel, a typical home, city Gates and more. I can see where this would be a challenging place for a self guided tour. If was a little pricey, but felt like it was very worthwhile in the end. The meal was educational and plentiful. We took 3 kids age 7 to 11 and they enjoyed all of it. This also included a tour through the artifacts from Israel. That is something you don't want to miss. read more

If you have ever wanted to experience the scripture with fresh eyes and a new perspective, then you will want to hop in your late-model time machine, set the time circuits for Israel, 1500 BC to 500 AD, and head to the Explorations in Antiquity Center for a most unique and authentic experience. We did not plan our visit, (though you can schedule a tour we opted to explore alone. We will, however, take the tour next time we visit,) and spent about two and a half hours roaming the outside exhibits. On a side-note, the weather was poor when we visited; overcast and misty. I recommend going on a drier day with a temperature of your choosing. There are 23 'posts' in the courtyard housing the exhibits. All are described in your tour book that includes scripture references that apply to each station. Also, most will have additional written information at the station, going into greater detail so you will know and understand exactly what you are seeing. More important, you will learn about the colorful and vivid imagery God used in the scriptures, referencing ancient traditions and customs. Though their meaning is veiled from us by passage of time, you can see, feel and understand what God means when he talks about the work of the shepherd, the separation of the sheep and goats, watchtowers and vineyards. I found myself saying on more than one occasion, "So that's what that means." The Center also offers Biblical Meal presentations that require both reservations and at least 10 participants. The two rooms where these meals are served are in replicas of rooms discovered at both Pompeii and Herculaneum . The literature says that the experience will give you insight about the Passover and the Last Supper. If you have young children, there a 'Kid's Dig" area you can arrange by appointment. Your kids can comb the sand, learning actual archeological techniques and searching for both genuine and replica artifacts. Will your child be the next Indiana Jones? Fedora and whip not included. This was a very cool place. If you're looking for something inexpensive to educate or entertain you ($10 per person, $30 for the optional meal,) then this is perfect for you and your family. Get your small group or Sunday school class and take a field trip to LaGrange; maybe conduct a Bible study in the replica Synagogue or Byzantine Church . When you're through, head over to Callaway Gardens and make a whole weekend of it. read more

My granddaughter was there yesterday with a homeschool group. She was helping a little boy to read who is dyslexic. The teacher fussed at my granddaughter and a very loudly always saying the little boy was old enough to do it by himself. My granddaughter tried to explain to her what she was doing. The teacher cut her off and accused her of talking back. The mother of the little boy tried to explain it to the teacher and the teacher cut her off also. Toward the end of the class the teacher came back over fussing at them in a very loud voice. At the end of class that boys mother took my granddaughter over to explain again to the teacher This time the teacher listened but still fussed at my granddaughter. My granddaughter has never been disrespectful to anyone and those that were there with her came back that up. It was bullying by this teacher and no child should be treated like that. This is something my granddaughter will never forget and that makes me very sad. Something needs to be done about thisParticular teacher apparently she is not suited to work at this biblical center. read more
