The wifi did not extend to our room and there were bedbugs present. I have over 30 bites after my 2 night stay.

The toilet sometimes didn't flush, but it did after waiting a few minutes. There's a fridge that kept our food and water cold. There's also a microwave but we didn't use it. There's cable so it was nice to wind down and relax with a movie. On our way out to dinner, there was a guy sitting under a tree by our room, which was unnerving. How long was he there? I'm glad he wasn't there anymore when we came back. This motel is in a town with a population of 648. There's a museum across the street that was fun to visit. For breakfast, the hostess at the motel recommended the golf club. We went to a cool coffee shop to get iced coffee to go. For dinner, there's a pizza place and a restaurant in a hotel not too far from the motel. This town doesn't have a lot going on. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of buildings/businesses closed. My man and I were predicting that this place might be a ghost town in a couple of years. However, we drove here from Mt Shasta and Castle Crags, then visited Burney Falls, and Lassen Volcanic National Park!

The car show at the Casino was amazing and car club members were friendly and knowledgeable. Nicely appointed room, most comfortable bed, and plenty of space. Enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the beautiful cars after Burney Falls and Lassen Park hiking. What at a treasure in Burney California.

It…read moreis fairly close to Burney Falls, which was why we were in the area, but beyond that there is no reason to book this hotel otherwise. They were having technical problems at the front desk at checkin so it took a few minutes longer, which is ok, things happen, but I had to ask about coffee in the morning and was assured there was but no details. Our room was upstairs and had a really weird minty perfume smell that was really strong like they were trying to cover some other smell? The room itself was mostly clean, and the bed was comfortable enough. The bathroom had a shower and tub and were mostly clean. There is a small refrigerator and microwave. There were also some small bbq's for grilling your own dinner if wanted and a small area with picnic tables. However, the office was not open when we got up before we left, so no coffee for us except the little coffee maker in the room with some no name coffee. For $150 a night in a motel that is not very modern, I would at least expect some coffee and pastries in the morning. For the price I would not stay here again. Apparently the sister motel Green Gables has been renovated and may be a better choice if you truly want a place to stay in Burney proper.

No, everything isn't new and perfect, but no one should be expecting that in a hotel such as this. It was fun to wander around guessing maybe what room was used for what purpose long ago. All staff encountered were friendly and helpful. We stayed on a Saturday and it was karaoke night at the saloon. Lots of regulars that had fun taking turns singing. It was also prom night so we had the privilege of being able to see a young couple dressed to the nines come in to dine at the restaurant and a few gussied up young ladies come in the saloon so mom (the bartender) could take some photos of them before they headed out. Overall it was a welcoming place and we felt included. My one and only nitpick is that I'm not sure it's suited for those with disabilities (I'm guessing that's largely due to the building being built when it was). I'd stay here again without hesitation.

Can't wait to return. BTW... We were there the same weekend as the person with the dogs who left the one star review. We had occasion to speak with the men who work there a couple of times and they were kind and helpful, not at all as this person described. Seems this was more a her problem than a place problem.

It is always AWESOME. It's obviously older but does not feel old because it is soooo well maintained. The grounds with the lakes and the geese with their babies make walking around to get a few steps in, a really nice experience. There's a deck with chairs next to one of the little lakes. All rooms have functional kitchens with pots pans dishes etc. AND a full size refrigerator. I checked out the bigger rooms with the indoor tubs and they are like apartments. HUGE. The indoor tubs have the same hot mineral water flowing through but I found the rooms too warm for me because they are more humid. I prefer the small rooms with the outdoor tubs. But if you have a big group the big rooms are a super bargain and I'm thinking you can open the windows to cool it off. The small rooms all have newer AC HEAT units that are fabulous. I'm not sure about the big rooms. You should ask. The outdoor tubs are showing their age because the finish has worn off from use but they are totally comfortable and always fresh and clean and comfortable. The office hours are short and the voicemail box seems to always be full so gettin in touch takes some patience BUT IT IS WORTH IT if you want a ONE NITE STAY. If you check the reservations calendar and see one available night between blocked out nights, you CAN NOT book it online but they will let you stay one night if you CALL THEM. You just might have to call several times. But again...worth it! If you find this review useful please VOTE!
