We stayed two nights in a sweet little room off the courtyard. There were some minor problems with the room, but when we brought them to the staff's attention, they were corrected quickly. This is a small, historic hotel with a lot of character. Don't expect a sterile Hilton room. Our room was comfortable and clean. The entire staff was helpful and friendly during our stay. We had warm and interesting conversations with locals and the staff. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was excellent.

My chicken sandwich was large but flavor wise it was bland. The sauce was supposed to be aioli but what came out on the side was a horseradish sauce instead. Weird. The server was nice but there were only 2 servers - and it is Fair Week in town so I feel like they could have prepared by having more staff. In addition our server was also tasked with answering the phone for the hotel and checking in guests. Overall the restaurant is grossly understaffed for a "busy"lunch crowd. The server did apologize several times and offered us a free dessert. Unfortunately by the time the check finally came the dessert never came. My family waited in the car while I waited for the dessert to come out. It never came. I let them know that I was leaving and I did not want the dessert. So disappointed.

There's cable so it was nice to wind down and relax with a movie. On our way out to dinner, there was a guy sitting under a tree by our room, which was unnerving. How long was he there? I'm glad he wasn't there anymore when we came back. This motel is in a town with a population of 648. There's a museum across the street that was fun to visit. For breakfast, the hostess at the motel recommended the golf club. We went to a cool coffee shop to get iced coffee to go. For dinner, there's a pizza place and a restaurant in a hotel not too far from the motel. This town doesn't have a lot going on. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of buildings/businesses closed. My man and I were predicting that this place might be a ghost town in a couple of years. However, we drove here from Mt Shasta and Castle Crags, then visited Burney Falls, and Lassen Volcanic National Park!

Room 10 in the tastefully restored midcentury motel was our choice because it offers arctic AC! Seriously, this small LG unit is quiet and effective! The two queen beds were perfect. We pushed them together to make a giant family bed for our two enormous beasts. Don't worry, we are seasoned travelers and brought king sheets to put on top for the dogs. The mattresses are memory foam! We love them as we have a tempurpedic at home. The train is far enough in the distant from this room that it's quite pleasant to hear the sound across the river. Make your coffee and stroll over to view Mount Shasta from the benches provided in the morning, but the really photo op is just after sunset when the mountain glows. Note, the pine tree sap will drip on your vehicle if you park in the designated spot for room 10. If you back in, it gets on the windshield. Nose first, not so much. We travel with windex and microfiber cloth, so we were prepared. What's nice is all the options for a stay at this resort. If you want a cabin with a hot tub it's available, or an Airstream, the have rows of them. It's a nice walk down to the botanical gardens and the river. This would be an ideal location for a group event. Many folks recommended coming back in the Fall, so hope to return again.

Carrie checked me in and was very helpful with suggestions on places to go and see in the area. If you're traveling to/from Bend, OR and Reno or Northern CA this is a great place to stay. There's also a great country store in town with the best cinnamon rolls and a hamburger joint so there's food nearby. I'll be staying here again the next time I roll through.

Full hookups, clean, peace & quiet, friendly neighbors, etc. Our shady spot was perfect for our dogs that we had fenced in around our trailer. If Burney Falls is on your bucket list, this is the place to bring your RV!

Said Eff it, we're going! My wife and I dragged our Travel Trailer out there with our two dogs, found the resort with ease, pulled in, and that's when I met Allen. He is the NEW OWNER! He was very polite and gave me all of my information and my camp sight number. After we had settled in he swung by just to say hi so I told him all of the hesitations I had about staying there. That's when I learned he had just bought this trailer resort back in March 2019, and was in the early stages of a 100% revamp. In his exact words, "when I bought this place it was a mess!" He evicted all of the permanent tenants, hauled out all of their trash, and is now remodeling all of the mobile homes on sight to rent out as cabins in the future. THE STAY. It was awesome!! I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was super quiet and relaxing. We had a couple neighbors parked near us, but everyone was respectable. The camp sight was level, so parking the trailer was easy. Full hook ups worked just as described. Dogs do have to be leashed in the camp area, but a 30ft walk up into the brush and you can let them off the leash to roam and do their business. AT&T is from what we were told the only provider that gets reception out there. We found it to be very spotty though, sometimes it would work just "okay" and other times it wouldn't work at all. The WiFi there was less than acceptable. It wouldn't work at all for us. I brought this up to management and he told me that they are aware of the issue and have 2 WiFi boosters on order to fix that- so with time that will get better. Burney falls is about a 4 minute drive. Allen gave us directions to a really cool spot you can park for free and then walk in on the back side of the falls along the pacific coast trail. Give the subway caves(lava tubes) a visit, took us about 25 minutes to drive too but was super cool! So in all, give this place a shot! We had an awesome experience. Better than some "5 star resorts" we have stayed at in the past. The new owner is welcoming and polite. The views are breathtaking. And its centrally located. THANKS FOR THE AWESOME STAY ALLEN!!!!

They were having technical problems at the front desk at checkin so it took a few minutes longer, which is ok, things happen, but I had to ask about coffee in the morning and was assured there was but no details. Our room was upstairs and had a really weird minty perfume smell that was really strong like they were trying to cover some other smell? The room itself was mostly clean, and the bed was comfortable enough. The bathroom had a shower and tub and were mostly clean. There is a small refrigerator and microwave. There were also some small bbq's for grilling your own dinner if wanted and a small area with picnic tables. However, the office was not open when we got up before we left, so no coffee for us except the little coffee maker in the room with some no name coffee. For $150 a night in a motel that is not very modern, I would at least expect some coffee and pastries in the morning. For the price I would not stay here again. Apparently the sister motel Green Gables has been renovated and may be a better choice if you truly want a place to stay in Burney proper.

In that search I located this lodge. I was kind of leery as I thought it might have been on a main road. Well, it's not! It's on a side street off the main roadway. We booked cabin #7. Cabin #7 faces the roadway where the parking lot is. Believe it or not, we could not hear people in the parking lot. Cabin #7 is two floors. On the first floor there is the only bathroom, a small kitchenette area, and a king bed. Upstairs there are two extremely comfortable queen beds! Literally the most comfortable bed I've slept in! The only draw back was the people sharing the adjacent wall. I believe their stairs are located where ours were in the cabin because we could hear them running up and down it all night. Once they went to bed it wasn't an issue. This Lodge is a self check in and out which was nice! Easy to do! The lodge is close to everything! McCloud Lake was fun for kayaking and McCloud Falls were right up the roadway. Highly recommend breakfast at White Mountain Cafe and dinner at Axe & Rose Brew house. We will be coming back and staying here again.

Chose not to report it to the owner as it was a minor issue. On the second day, we were in the room around 5:30 PM and noticed our door knob moving. We checked the window and noticed it was a shirtless man trying to open our door. We loudly said, "excuse me what are you doing?" and the man walked away. We texted the owner about this incident and asked if they could have this checked out. The owner responded by saying, "It was very likely another guest confused at which cabin was his. The area around the lodge is extremely safe." No indication that they took the time to review camera footage or checked out the area. We later confirmed ourselves that the man was a guest in the room next to us as he was outside next to his room. Later that same day, we were about to leave the room again and noticed that a key was placed on the #5 outside our door. We checked the key and confirmed that it works to unlock and lock our door. We were never informed that another key would be placed outside our door and we do not know how long it was sitting there. Anyone could have saw the key and used it to open our cabin. We immediately notified the owner and their response was that their staff was onsite to service other cabins and may have grabbed an extra key to our cabin. Owner didn't seem to care that an extra key was available to anyone who walked by our cabin. We expressed that we were concerned for our safety, but the owner didn't show that they cared about an extra key just lying around for anyone to grab.
