We had a long day of traveling and hiking so wern't picky or expecting anything spectacular in Burney for places to stay. The check in was quick, the office smelled like fresh cigarettes. We felt our room wasn't bad except for the stained sheets that were suspect. They smelled clean and it was late so we turned them around and covered up the spot to feel better. The bed and pillows were not very comfortable and I was glad I brought my own pillow from home. The room was small, but the bathroom was a large size, and the room looked recently remodeled, was clean. All in all I wouldn't say not to stay here if you're ok with basic. First off, the check-in process was pretty seamless and simple. I looked at the rooms on their website and they looked decent. When I physically entered the room it smelled like cheap perfume or some sort of strong smell as if to cover another bad odor. Metal bedframe (trying to mitigate bedbugs IMO) tiny TV, fridge & microwave. I don't believe the price point is correct for this room at over $115 per night, but hey...I came, I saw, but I won't use the services here again at that price point. Making money is one thing and I support that, but taking advantage of the clientle just because there are so few options just doesn't sit right. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The bad vibes started at the check-in process and declined from there. The motel states that check-in time is at 3 PM, and they are super-strict about it. Most hotel cleaning staffs would let the front desk know when rooms are clean as they are cleaned so they can start checking guests in early. Not the Charm - no one checks in until all the rooms are done, or at least that's what the front desk clerk told all of us assembled in the lobby at 3 PM. There were five families waiting - the good news for those at the Green Gables (sister motel of the Charm that has the same clerk) was that there was no wait. All of us in line were commenting about the same thing - we couldn't understand why the clerk couldn't start checking us in. Second, if you're on the upper floor, good luck getting up to your room. Not quite sure how those stairs passed building code - despite asking for a ground-level room, they didn't have one available and we had to trek up stairs that wouldn't pass code due to their steepness. Bathroom was fairly dirty, or at least it appeared that way. We couldn't get another room (clerk confirmed they were booked solid) so we dealt with it. They really need to remodel. Beds were pretty terrible too - sheets are as advertised by other guests, bed was hard as a rock. The Charm didn't charm me and it's a place to avoid. read more

We booked this motel because it was the only option available for the 4th of july weekend. We checked in and got a fairly large room on the second floor with two queen beds but that was the nicest part of it all. The room started off okay, but every time someone showered it started to smell like someone had died in the walls and something was decaying somewhere. The smell got so so bad we had to checkout the next day. I'm not sure whether the smell was coming from mold or something else but it was unbearable. In addition to the smell I was bitten by bed bugs and I noticed the sheets were not clean. I would not recommend staying here. read more

After staying here for one night during our trip to Burney Falls, I have to say I felt a little misled seeing the overall four-star Yelp review for this motel! The main positive point of this motel for me was its close proximity to Burney Falls -- about an 8-minute drive. Other than that, it was an uncomfortable stay for me and I'm glad I only had to endure one night. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets felt rough on my skin. The AC unit was loud. The walls were really thin, I could hear people talking in the rooms next to us. As a result of these factors, I only got two hours of sleep. Also, the people next to us had their music blaring until 12:30am (mind you it was a Sunday night/Monday morning). Their music was so loud that I could hear it over the tv in our room. Unfortunately the office closes at 10:00pm each day so there wasn't anyone I could report the noise to. In addition, flies and gnats entered our room whenever my husband and I opened the door. We didn't have the door open for a long time. Burney is a small area so I'm not sure how many options there are for places to stay. I would only recommend staying here if you'd like to be within 10 minutes from Burney Falls. Otherwise, I recommend staying in Redding which is an hour away but it probably has better hotel options and definitely much more restaurant choices in the area. read more

After last night I'd give them negative stars if I could. I checked in at 3pm, no issue. But at after 10PM, some raving maniac starts pounding on the door, kept trying to open the door while yelling at me to open the door and telling me I was in the wrong room! If I was in the wrong room, how come the key given to me worked? With the room# on the packet I was given? I had to call the police! Then apparently the same person called my HOUSE to say I had the wrong room! REALLY??? Needless to say this totally ruined the weekend as I wasn't able to sleep after that. Turns out it was the manager. What kind of inconsiderate person would do that at that time of night??? I've been staying there since 1992. But last night will definitely BE the last night. I do lots of hotels Mabey 7 months out of the year I stay in hotels. I always do Marriott personally there the best high quality and great service and super clean I like it better than Hilton. The charm motel and suites with HANNA !!! Is immaculately impeccable it's I made them go through so much switch back and forth. She was the whole time complete comprehensive ! She clearly has one of a kind customer service. Hopefully she gets well employment treatment as well as pay because she definitely deserves it anyone who's been here will clearly agree! Booked a room through Priceline; had no problem with confirming the room with one of the staff members when I called. Very nice and polite. The room itself was very clean and had a modern style. Mini-fridge, roomy shower, ice machine were also a great addition to our stay. We had no problem finding parking even though they were booked out for the weekend. The location of the hotel is very close to all the tourist locations: about 15 mins from Burney Falls and about an hour from Mccloud Falls; also many others. It's also across the street from Safeway which made it very convenient. Overall had a very pleasant stay, 100% recommend it. Will be staying here again in the near future. read more

There isn't really anything I can complain about here. The office apparently closes at 10pm (to our surprise) and gave us a courtesy call to make sure we were on our way. I picked up the pace on the windy Hwy 299 and got us there in the nick of time. The room was as advertised with no surprises, except for the bathroom being much larger than expected. Everything we used was functional. This motel is right off the highway but this is such a remote area that there is no late night traffic noise to worry about. The front desk clerks were friendly in my brief chats with them while picking at the complimentary breakfast. It was fairly simple, enough to get me through the morning. In all honesty, I'd say Charm Motel is a bit overpriced for what you get. Once we got into our room, we automatically noticed the room reeked like sweat. Thankfully, we had our own febreeze in our car to mask that unpleasant scent. Hours later after a long day venturing through Burney & Mt. Shasta-- of course first instinct is to take a shower and relax. After showering and watching a couple episodes on their free WiFi which sucked, we decided to get in bed and call it a night. A few min of laying down in bed my significant other and I started feeling unbearably itchy.. so we turn on the lights and inspected the bed. On the fitted sheets of the bed we found stains and weird crumbs which could possibly be food or boogers... DONT KNOW. We both came to a conclusion to just take out all the sheets and pillows. We were more than prepared for our trip and had our own blanket that we placed on top of the bed and our own pillows. It was more than tough to sleep being super disgusted after what we just saw. Unfortunately, office closed at 8 and there wasn't any way we were able to reach housekeeping or switch or room. The day of check out, we brought this to the front desks attention and they seemed really surprised.. more awkward about the situation than apologetic. If we ever visit Burney in the future, we'll make sure to avoid staying at Charm Motel. The only good thing I could say about Charm Motel is that they are dog friendly and welcome your dog with a goodie bag with treats in it. read more

I'm a firefighter who stayed here during a fire assignment for about a week. Every morning when we leave for the fire, we check out because we don't know if we will be reassigned to another fire. It's pretty unpredictable as you may imagine. My point is, several of us were staying at this truly lovely motel. We created a lot of work with our checking in and checking out every day. The whole time the staff were nothing short of a joy to see at the end of each day. They were beyond understanding and extremely polite. The rooms were always impeccably clean and everything is well maintained. One of the days happened to be my birthday and my wife called to see if they could help her get me a cake. They made it happen and they even got me a birthday card from the motel staff! It was such an amazing surprise from my amazing wife and these incredibly caring people at the Charm. They made me feel at home and I couldn't recommend the Charm more strongly. Thank you to you all!! read more

Check in was good. Parking was good and safe. Room looked nice and clean. Now for the problems,,,,,,bed had only a dirty looking blanket and dirty sheet. The sheet had what looked like blood droplets and dirt marks. The pillows were small. The tv is small. All night the heater would come on and it sounded like a big diesel truck. It was so horrible I bet the neighbors were bothered too. All night when the heater came on, it woke us up. So we had a horrible nights sleep. Morning we found an old dry used bar of soap in the shower. Went to make coffee and there was a pot of coffee there from the previous renters. They need to train their housekeeping staff much better. Disgusting..... and we were on the bottom floor and the footsteps above were so loud. Put carpet on the second floor to help this problem. Hardwood floors magnify the footsteps. Another reason for horrible nights sleep. read more

We stayed at Charm from July 23 through 26, 2020 to visit my son who just moved to Burney. Initially I had made reservations at the Green Gables for the 16th and had to change them to the 23. Booking had changed them but somehow the Charm people did not and said they would charge us for the cancellation because of their own mistake of having the wrong dates...when I said we were PI's and would report them they changed and put us in for the 23 but didn't have a room left, so we had to take room at Charm, and it was a bottom handicapped room....even though their rules said they would kick anyone out who kept guests up past 10, when that happened we tried and tried to locate the office personnel and no one would answer...we had people over us both nights that literally ran back and forth (probably kids) all night long...no sleep at all. It was a horrible stay. The room was okay, but we suspected our sheets were not changed the first day, there was a musky smell, and I don't think it was cleaned very well for the covid restrictions I know they were supposed to follow. My husband went to ask that they change our sheets the next day and we were told they don't come back on the second day to change sheets. What? He insisted and said our sheets were dirty the first day. They were wrinkled and had stains. Finally the horrified house keeper said she would tend to our room. Our overall stay was a nightmare and we do not recommend staying there unless you don't care about noise and unattentiveness....I never write reviews cause I think you get what you pay for. But in this case, I hope you heed the advice before you pay for a room here.... read more

Was a little pricey for the room you get, But was clean and people were friendly. Rooms are dated and there really isn`t no place to sit in the room, one chair and a bed, no sitting area. No smoking room with burn marks in the night stand. Beds not very comfortable in my opinion, and walls are thin could here the guy next door snoring and coughing. For the Fisherman, Hunter, Hiker or any outdoor sports, this is the Motel to stay. Laundry facility, fish cleaning station. This Motel has it all and I will stay there again. There's not a whole lot of choices of where to stay in Burney, so I booked this place, thinking our experience might end up like "Joy Ride." Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised - clean, quiet, with cable and a mini fridge. You can pretty much walk up and down Main Street and see all of the town from here. Burney Bowl is across the street. Of course, the rooms are pretty small and the shower was ancient, but a nice stopping point. read more

This little motel is a keeper! No need to look any further. Absolutely nothing fancy but we don't need fancy as long as it's CLEAN, which this one is. The floors and baseboards in the bathroom were clean, and the room smelled fresh. We were in 147 which is a deluxe King. Really not anything deluxe about it but we were more than happy to pay the 10.00 difference for it since it was ready for check in and ours wasn't. We were 3 hours early for check in so to us it was worth it. There's plenty of parking, even free HBO and WIFI! We will absolutely stay here when we come back! Oh! The other bigger plus was the young lady at check in. She was so friendly and such an asset as the first person we customers interact with. read more

This is a great motel. I was sent to Burney by my employer for a four day job there and the company arranged the place for me. I was really pleased with the mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and even a hair dryer in the bathroom. I enjoyed my stay here and would consider this motel again. Simple rooms, somewhat dated but extremely comfortable, though I would like fluffier pillows, but I am kind of a Pillow hoarder so maybe it's me. Rooms are close to the parking but they were never loud and very clean rooms. A great value and close to the major attractions of the area as well as several good places to eat or have drinks. a well kept fish cleaning station if you need it and BBQs. room amenities include mini fridge, coffee maker microwave. Good hot water and pressure in the shower, something I really appreciate. Amy at the front desk was super helpful in helping us sort out where to go snd super sweet, as was Amber the housekeeper. Absolutely wonderful stay for a week at Charm!! My husband and I were on a fishing trip and it was so nice to come back to a great, relaxing king room and the picnic areas every day. Service desk clerk is very discriminating. When I walked in (wearing dirty clothes, just got off work from Lassen county) and asked if he had a room or anything. He said no. When he was in the phone I heard him say to a customer he does have rooms. How odd right? So I hopped in my truck and had my friend called, and shit you not he all of a sudden had a room available within the time I left in my truck while leaving the parking lot which is about 1-2 min. I feel I was treated differently because of the way I was dressed and looked. That is poor judgement on the motel. I do not recommend this place to no one. read more
