Larger than the Big 5 location I usually visit. Came here because their website said the sprinting shoes my son needed were out of stock at our usual location, but available here. The guy in the shoe area clearly did not want to be there. When he brought the shoes out he quickly handed them off, mummbled that they didn't have anymore, and went back into the stockroom. He didn't specify if that was for his size in all the styles/brands, if that was the last pair for that style... While my son was trying the shoes on, I did find a pair in the clearance area. We were not sure where to put the shoes the associate brought out. We put them next to the door. When the guy came back out. We tried to tell him where we put the shoes. Before I could finish my sentences, he cut me off with a quick "okay." The cashier was the opposite. He was friendly. He asked if we found everything okay. I was close to rating the store 3 stars. At the same time, the inventory and cashier kind of outweigh the one employee in shoes. read more

Big HUMONGOUS thanks to Eddie and his Saturday morning crew !! Came into town from out of state for Perfect Game Tournament (Baseball) and packed the wrong color pants (not in uniform, can't play). Ran (drove) to Big 5 only find out they didn't open until 9 ( 1st game starts @ 8 am). Saw someone walking in the store @ 7:20 am and decided to call hoping someone would pick up. Not only did Eddie pick up the call but once I explained my dilemma he got the pants I needed and allowed me to purchase them !!! Got them to my son by 7:50. Added bonus: he wished us good luck and found our we're from the same hometown (The SFV). EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE !! Big "5", you've won this customer over!!! I went in Friday morning to buy a new backpack for my son to go hiking with his Boy Scout troop. At checkout the cashier asked if I had a coupon, which I did not. I got home, checked my e-mail, and there was a coupon for $10 off... The e-mail was stamped 9:38 AM, my receipt was stamped 10:06 AM. So Saturday morning I went back to Big 5 with my receipt, coupon and an attitude that I was going to have to argue to get my discount. There was no argument. They refunded the difference without any question or problem. Big 5 has a great selection, and their sale prices are usually very good. Now add great customer service. read more

Big 5 is always amazing. I like that I can get unique items as gifts for my kids. Stuff that you can only find on Amazon. I have two boys and they need a lot of athletic gear. We went in today to purchase a raft to head to the Salt River with. My wife had noticed that there was a sale on the couples rafts here. We went in and asked the girl behind the counter if many people used this particular raft for the Salt River and she said "yeah" and turned away from us. We purchased the raft because we had already researched it. Very minor small talk from the same girl as she rang us up. Dropped the receipt on the box and said "have a good one" after circling the parking lot my sister in law called and said she wanted one too. I went back in to grab one and brought it to the counter. Not a word from the cashier this time and she just dropped the receipt on the box again and said "take care" Was not impressed wit the customer service. I purchased a pair of Russell brand compression shorts that fit me just fine, yet within no more than 2-3 months of the purchase the shorts are falling apart. There are three seem rips leaving giant holes in the shorts. Waste of money and would not recommend these shorts to anyone! read more

Went in today to buy my husband shoes for work. Went to the shoe section and picked up the shoe I wanted to purchase. The employee working there walked past me and gave shoes to a lady who was obviously ahead of me, that's fine. I waited while he gave her her shoes, while she was trying them on,he started putting other shoes away that she had previously tried on,I tried to get his attention before he went into the back to get her another pair, as I knew exactly what I needed. He ignored me...not even..a hello I will be right with you..acknowledgment. So I continued to wait another 5 minutes... I put the shoe back on the shelf after waiting 10 to 15 minutes and being ignored. I went next door to Khols for about 45 minutes then I returned. On this second attempt,I again picked up the shoe I wanted and began to wait. I saw the same employee walking around the camping area and never once looked back at the shoe section. The cashier called him up front for a price check and he approached the shoe section and began looking at the shoes possibly to obtain the price, I caught his eye..finally and gestured I needed help, he looked right thru me,then walked into the back...by this time I am 10 minutes into my second attempt to buy these shoes, I guess they just don't want or need my money or business, I left again...without shoes for my husband. I am so angry and frustrated with that store, I will never go back again. read more
