I grew up with BIG 5 Sporting Goods. We got our sports gear there, sometimes shoes and other odds and ends. It was nice to see one open in Natomas to avoid Arden area trips. So many sports goods stores come and gone in the last couple of decades. The only sports store chain in Sacramento for over a few decades is Big 5. I visited this Big 5 in Natomas a few days ago. There was no greeting when I walked into the store, even though they had two employees right at the front door talking to each other! Not a good sign for service! The store has all the sports gear I expected in Big 5 reasonably priced. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I decided to get them at the Big 5 close to my home. I just received the worse customer service from Marcos "the Manager in North Natomas. He could not figure out how to return my $40 online order. He was studying the instructions and never apologized for making me wait or not figuring it out. He just said to call customer service. I called and PF course they were closed. Thanks for nothing Marcos. I will be complaining to his manager Ken and will never purchase from BG 5 in Natomas again. read more

Bounce it, toss it, run with it, or just hang with it... Big 5 has almost anything and everything sport related that you may need! This location is such a welcomed commodity, since the true sport store seems to have fallen by the way side. Big 5 located in North Natomas is one of the larger storms in Sacramento. The mere fact that it is new, sets it above many of the other older established locations. The sales team that is on the floor is still feeling their way through the newness of a grand opening. The cashiers are super friendly, as is the rest of the staff. I have high hopes that this location will become one of their A+ stores. North Natomas is home to a variety of local played sports, and this location will hopefully feed the need. I stopped in to start my holiday shopping in hopes of finding some pretty cool shoes and, sporting equipment for my nieces and nephews. I did not find exactly what I was looking for, but the gentleman that was in the shoe area was more than happy to try to find the shoes for me at one of their other locations. Customer service at its finest. I did find some other cool things, and was glad that I took the time to walk through the entire store. The store really has so much more! Welcome to North Natomas!! Hurray... Big 5 opened up in Natomas. Cheap pricing, big assortment. Friendly enough staff. Big 5 was the sporting good store of my youth. Back then the prices were affordable and parents can buy sporting goods, athletic shoes, sports gear... for the entire family without taking on a second mortgage. The time was before video games and cable TV (yes I'm old), kids back than joined organized sports or the occasionally neighborhood unofficial pickup teams. Get this the prices are still affordable... way cheaper than REI, Dicks, Sports Authority, etc. But just like in my youth, the store footprint is small. All Big 5s seem to maximize inventory space by stuffing a lot of merchandise into their shops. Huge full stock of sporting items. Keep in mind, they rotate seasonal goods. Hey, I don't gripe about the spacing in the shop. The business has been around since 1955 with over 400 locations, so their business approach seems to be working. Heck I shop there for the simple fact that the prices are cheap and they carry my shoe brands, New Balance and ASICS. Since they opened, I bought a golf glove and tennis racquet. Getting back into the swing of things. Go check them out. They are in the same shopping center as Target. read more

Why does Big 5 still bother with selling firearms and ammo? Seems like every time I go there, that counter is closed. Even during the prime time hours of weekend when someone might want to buy a firearm or ammo. Oh and speaking of ammo, this is not 2020 or 2121. Your prices are way out of line. Definitely the Mask police in there. They would not sell me a bow and arrow for my son because I have breathing difficulties and refused to wear a mask like I do anywhere else. Was able to find what we were looking for online and check the in-store inventory before heading over. The staff was helpful and pointed us in the right direction right away. Another review mentions a lack of inventory, but it's not a super large store and has a good selection of items for its size in my opinion. And as I mentioned, it's easy enough to check whether or not something is in stock before making the trip. read more

New Big5 in the promenade shopping center! I have been to other local Big5s and I must say this one is very nice! It was really well stocked, clean bathrooms, friendly staff & good Christmas pricing. Big5 is that store you always kinda forget about but then they end up having what you need. I have been looking for mens, nike slides and they were sold out in the size i needed at several places or overpriced. I saw they were on sale for $19.99 so i stopped in on my way home & BAM last size 10 hanging up in the color i was looking for! I was pleasantly surprised! read more

Came here for what I needed, I thought the store was well kept and organized, it looked like this Big 5 was well stocked with inventory, I'll definitely come back and look around a little longer next time. Too bad they don't hold items for you for at least 24hrs, I tried, I called a few hours before closing, because I was looking for a particular item, which I couldn't locate at another Big 5, they had two, so I told the worker I'll be there the next day, but he said it's a first come first serve type thing, no holding items for customers, it was all good at least he went and checked for me to tell me they had two items in stock, I end buying the two fishing rods which I was happy about. read more

Great. I've gotten a bunch of stuff here like a CO2 pistol , the guy was very helpful in advising me to make the right choice.

If I can give this store zero stars I would. I completely agree with "THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER".First thing that set me off they said they couldn't sell ammo because the night manager didn't have the proper training.....WTF? Secondly, needed some baseball pants for my son. I asked the mgr where the one's on sale in the ad were. He pointed to the round rack near the aisle so we picked a couple to try on and got the ones that fit my son. Get up to the register to pay, price rang up wrong. Manager said it's a specific style on sale so he goes back and brings back a different color. I said naw man I need a size small in grey. Comes back says all we got are extra small sorry can't do anything for ya. At this point I thought he would of said hey...we'll give you those for the sale price but dude had a dumb ass look on his face and didn't know what to say or tell me. Hey night manager Asian or Filipino dude you got the worst customer service skills known to man!!!! You should be working at a drive through at Burger King! That's how terrible you are guy!!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERICE EVER!! Went there twice, first time was to buy a BB gun and the manager had a nasty attitude because I wasn't sure exactly which BB I should get. He was extremely rude and rushing me. The second time I went in with someone and they asked to purchase ammo and the little girl behind the counter gave us the wrong information and was very hostile about us trying to purchase ammo.
