Dicks had an IPO back in 2002 and trades on the NYSE under the ticket symbol DKS. Their retail prices are standard. But also some very reasonable pricing and great discounts & sales too. I still miss Sport Chalet and Sports Authority that unfortunately filed for Bankruptcy back in 2016. I also prefer to shop local and support the Mom & Pop shops. But brick and mortar sporting goods stores have become dinosaurs...so I've grown to like Dick's. It's become one of my go-to's when I prefer to try something on or experience the product prior, opposed to online shopping. And Dick's has much better quality brands and inventory compared to Big 5. Been to this location a handful of times, and each time made a purchase. I've also ordered from their website once because the size of the item I wanted wasn't in stock. The layout here is decent but the store itself is always clean and pretty well-stocked. There's usually a fair amount of store team members wandering around either stocking or tidying the sleeves & racks. A few of the Team Members here are very helpful & kind and seem to care about customer service and experiences. Reason for knocking off a star? Some of the team members here, as well as the ones at the check-out register, appear as what I call "dialing-it-in and punching a time clock" because they act as tho they don't wanna be here...and are too cool for the room. I wonder if this stems from management here...or they haven't a clue and my reason for pointing this out. Because some of Dick's Team Members need to be better Team Players or go take a seat on the bench.

Usually my first stop in Hawaii is the nearest Ace for camp stove fuel. The one here, not only did not have it...they didn't know what it even was? Anyway, the guy working here was really sympathetic to my cause. He said it's hard to get because the locals only hike in the summer and are too scared of the cold to hike in the winter so...people stop carrying backpacking fuel. Hilarious, if true! (it was in the 30's at my camp on San Jacinto, great sleeping and stove cooking weather!)

The customer service at this store is exceptionally good. I was looking for a last minute item for my tennis racquets (vibration dampeners). I called first to see if they carried the item. David answered the phone oh so professionally, and politely. A minute later, David had the item in his hand and provided me with two brands. He was very detailed and thorough. The next morning, I came by to pick up the item. A masked David greeted me upon arrival. It's the Pandemic 20' era. I was happy to see Big 5 employees and customers comply with the current health & safety regulations. I made a lightening bolt move toward the section displaying tennis racquets, and David followed me to check if I needed assistance. Kudos to David for his excellent customer service skills! The store is tidy, clean, hassle-free, and with ample parking. I recommend shopping here for your sporting good needs.

I was only entitled to a store credit. The staff person said that because my brother in law did not specifically request a gift receipt, there was nothing she could do. Now we are stuck with a store credit that we will never use as the clothes here are just...bad. And my husband doesn't even like the replacement shorts so it was a complete waste of money for the original $138 pants. It is a ridiculous and unethical policy not to issue a refund when the product is returned unused with a receipt. Really shameful, Vuori.

With two hours to spare before my daughter's HS varsity tennis tryouts, I was frantically Googling where to get her a quality racket and actual legit tennis shoes. I remembered someone recommending Pete Carlson's, checked the website, saw they closed at 6pm, and we raced across town. We pull up and a man wearing a helmet, about to leave on his scooter, yells over that they actually closed at 5. It was 5:10. Any parent knows what came next: "Great, Mom! Now I have no racket or shoes for tryouts!" I pulled up the website to show him it said 6pm, fully expecting him to ride off into the sunset and tell us to come back tomorrow. Instead, he parked his scooter, took off his helmet, looked at my daughter and said, "We can't have you going to tryouts with no racket or shoes. Follow me -- let's get you what you came for." Enter Raul, the unicorn of customer service. He reopened the store for us and then proceeded to give us some of the most thorough, genuinely caring customer service I've experienced. He didn't rush us AT ALL. He took the time to help my daughter find the right racket and tennis shoes so she could walk into varsity tryouts feeling confident and prepared. And Raul apparently isn't the only one drinking the magical customer-service water over there. I had previously called with a tennis question and that employee was fantastic too. Clearly, great service is part of the culture here. What also impressed me was how much pride Raul takes in his job and how highly he spoke of the owner and the hard work that grew the business from a small area in front into the large store it is today. There's a fast food place inside, you have the deli section and bakery. Of course the frozen section with quite some nice decent items. It's basically a grocery store on one side of the place. Even a decent isle for the international goods. There's a fairly decent section/department where the alcohol is located. So you have one side that's groceries and the other is basically everything else. Home goods, technology, clothing and so on. There's even a pretty decent size garden center that is pretty massive but it was a little sparse with what they offered. Some patio furniture, mainly soil and the usual pots and some plants. They also have a department for delivery and pickup. It's quite interesting for me...lol... Of course you have the option of self checkout or with someone. Bags are additional fee as we all know. What I didn't understand is, some of the items you would need to pay before hand if you want them. There's the beauty department where you have to leave your basket outside and pay for what you need before returning to it. And some other items in the store where you have to do the same or they can leave it at the customer service counter until you're finished. I had to do that with a measuring tape. We were still shopping and asked if it was ok. The staff seemed a bit annoyed with the request but took it to customer service anyways. Besides that concept, it a pretty good place for your one stop shop.

She asked me to wait while she double checked in back, came up empty as well, but told me that a new store shipment was due in couple of days, and that I should come in early, as they stock the new items before they open. My review here is completely because I appreciate service, especially from a person whose job it is to be of service. Too often, that is not the case.
