Wow is the first word about our experience. We went to start our riding mower 3 weeks ago and it was dead as a door nail. The battery was not the issue. It was in desperate need of service. I came across this shop merely chance. I called and explained our predicament. We have a quarter acre and with all the rain the "grass" was growing out of control fast. Knowing the time of year and the number of people most likely in our shoes we expected the initial estimate for repair. It was our doing for not getting it in sooner. Anyway, we explained that we could not bring it to the shop. Luckily we were told he does pick up and delivery. The price for that was well under our expectations. We were given an estimate that seemed extremely fair. Long story short, we have our mower back running like new. It was faster than the initial estimated time. Plus the cost was under the original estimate including pick up and delivery. He worked with us around our work schedules and was ever so polite. One note, he only does riding mowers which is not a detriment. I just want to ensure readers know this up front. To sum up, we will definitely call him for the mowers next service. These guys are top shelf! In some cases small engine repair shops can be hit or miss but that is definitely not the case here. I have used them on several occasions and they have certainly exceeded my expectations every time. Last year I had them repair my Honda harmony II and it drives and cuts like a dream. They fixed the transmission in about a weeks time including the wait time to get the parts. It runs like a brand new mower. Early last year I bought a new husqvarna weed eater. Last week it stopped running and wouldn't turn over. I took it in to them and the looked it over, figured out the issue and I'm going to take it back. They were more than accommodating and provided me with a great service. I'll never use any other mower repair company in Saginaw. You will not be disappointed! I had enough lawn equipment to start my own mowing business. Unfortunately, none of it worked and all I know is how to put gas in it. Called the nearby establishments that all had a 4 to 6 week waiting period. Talked to some other questionable "independents" off Craigslist that said they would come out and "take a look"....no show, no calls. Desperate, I looked to Yelp and "Big and Small Mower Repair" came up 5 stars! Bill called me right back, scheduled a time he would be here, showed up, fixed my stuff for a decent price and returned it within a week. I would give them 10 stars if I could! You rarely find anyone, particularly in any repair business, that delivers what they promise, doesn't overcharge, doesn't take advantage of a woman who knows nothing about any of it and offers a 30 day warranty because they are confident in their expertise. I guess that's why they've had a successful business for decades. Bill even took the time to educate me about what they did and why and brought the parts they replaced so I could see for myself. I had sent 2 other push mowers with him that he returned and didn't charge me for because he said the cost of the repair wasn't worth the value of the mower. Incredibly honest! They may charge a small fee for pickup/delivery based on how far away you are, but when you add up paying someone else to mow in your equipment absence, gas, and the cost and hassle of renting or borrowing transportation to get it there it's worth it. They also sell parts as well, are super nice, and a pleasure doing business with. This place is amazing! Hard to find without a GPS but absolutely would recommend them to fix your mower. Dropped my mower of at another place and it sat there for a week and nobody looked at it so I went and got it and brought to Big and Small. They fixed it in about 4 hrs. They fixed more than I asked them too and even changed the oil and sharpened the blade. Thought I needed a new bearing and belt ( about $120) but the mechanic told me they were a little worn but still working fine and that he could replace them but he didn't think it was necessary. They are honest, fast and have excellent customer service! read more
