Second time coming here for oil change. The first time I was charged $97 total for oil change, didn't need cabin air filter or air filter, ($50 of that was labor) which is cool but this second time I needed oil change and the filters. Same price for oil change but for the 2 filters, cabin air filter was like $20 and the air filter was like $30, they charged me $150 for labor to switch these out!! These don't even take more than 5 mins to change. Ridiculous. Total price for oil change and filters was $360. When I signed paperwork where it showed how much it was going to be when I dropped off my car, it was my fault to not pay attention to the total or else I wouldn't have moved forward with the filters. But I definitely was not expecting for a stupid number like $360. They did give me a discount of like $45 but still, a little excessive on the total. I went to the Bear Valley location. I have been to the Hwy 18 location a couple of times prior with my truck. Both places do great work. Having been to both places personally I prefer my experience at the Bear Valley location and it will be the one I go to in the future. I Showed up for the appt I set ahead of time and they got my car pulled to the back and Anthony the technician got started on it right away. The guys up front were super cool and very attentive to the other customers. Customer service is a top priority at this place. I just went in for a simple alignment. Let's begin with the fact they had my car for 10 weeks and still did not fix it right. I drove it once and realized I had the same problem as before I took it in. All the guys here were super nice and professional. I was recommended to come here for my smog by Dream cars for my Porsche. Called made an appointment and when I arrived was early and they got started right away. Unfortunately they were having issue with the smog test machine and couldn't complete the test. They apologized a few times and even told me where their closest competitors were. In the end they couldn't complete the test but didn't try to charge for the time and effort either. My dad felt confident after speaking with Johnny and I was given an early morning appointment for brakes and rotors . He showed me the severe wear and tear as well as showing me I had two tires that were dangerously close to a blowout. He gave me an amazing and competitive price for parts & labor and provided me a cool place to sit and wait because I live about 35 miles from the location and couldn't get a ride home. There was cold drinks and coffee as well as donuts and candy . The facility is one of the cleanest automotive shops I've seen (and I've grown up around auto shops). Was a great experience from start to finish. Went in for a smog check and received a complete inspection that came with a full break down of the inspection. We ended up doing some maintenance on our truck as well because of it and the turnaround time was great, you can tell they took their time to get it done right and with all the equipment and great workers they have they had it done in no time. All the technicians we dealt with were respectful and professional Johnny, Jason and Jim are all awesome at what they do. Where do I start? I have a 2020 Dodge Durango R/T and my A/C stopped working back in June of 2023. I took it in for a diagnostic since they were able to get me in the next day and would have an answer by the end of the day (local dealer scheduled me weeks out and would need it 3-4 days just for the diagnostic). The price? Couldn't really complain due to a quick turn around time. At first, I was told they could not see a leak anywhere and it was low on Freon and I only needed it recharged. Diagnosis and Freon all done same day and on I went. About a month later, the A/C stopped working again, I called and informed them of the same issue occurring. I was able to bring it in as soon as I could. They informed me they would complete another diagnostic and use UV dye to find a leak. They told me they found the issue and there was a leak in the A/C hose. I was told it was a lengthy process and they would need to keep the car for a few weeks. That was no issue for me since it was summer and I needed the A/C fixed. Time goes on and the Durango was ready. A/C was blowing nice and cold, no issues. A couple months go by (October) and what I feared would happen, sure enough happened. The A/C stopped blowing cold. I called again, and by this time, they already knew the reason I was calling. Dropped the car off and so began the waiting game. They did another diagnostic with UV dye and found a leak in the evaporator. They told me they would need the car for a few more weeks since they had to take apart the dash, fix it, and put the dash back together. Understandable, sure. Time passed by and it was ready for pick up (I was at work so I personally couldn't pick it up but we needed the car that day). The A/C worked as it should have been but unfortunately there were a few issues inside of the interior that were not there prior. I called and complained, to who I'm assuming was the owner, and he got me sorted out and all the issues were resolved. It's currently 06/21/2024 and the last issue was resolved. It has been a lengthy process but I am highly pleased with how Big Apple Automotive handled my situation, and the quality of work done. I thought I could trust them but no. I swore not to go back and managed to avoid them for over 30 years, until my son's battery died and they were the only shop that AAA could tow to that was open on a Saturday. I'm hoping they go out of business before I find myself in the unfortunate situation of needing a mechanic on a weekend again, so I never have to hear their name mentioned to me. They are an embarrassment to the high desert. Stay away. Stay far, far away. And if the tow truck driver suggests them, have your car towed ANYWHERE ELSE. When my son said he was towed there I thought maybe they had changed, but if anything it just got worse. Big Apple on highway 18, I called for an appointment for a lights and brakes test, they gave me an appointment for 9am in the morning, yet the guy that does the inspection apparently does not work on Mondays? I took rescheduled appointments for me to figure this out, do they not know when their technicians work? Where is the communication? Not even a courtesy call? The guy in the front desk was very rude, they quoted me a certain price and changed price once I got there, this happened more than once, are they randomly just giving prices as they see fit? in the final inspection they again bumped the price an extra 100 dollars and they said rudely do you want the inspection or not? my initial experience with the owner was good, but this clown in the front desk is a problem, stay away from this place at all costs. read more

Went to this shop on a recommendation of a coworker. Asked for a Smog, Oil Change and a ABS sensor. They said they would review the truck and let me know what repairs would be recommended. A day later, they sent a estimate for almost 10k worth of repairs. This is how they drum up business. They use scare tactics for those who don't understand vehicles. At that point, I asked for the smog and oil change. I asked for synthetic. They use a synthetic blend, which is not the same as full synthetic. I asked they about the pricing on the ABS sensor. They were charging $417 for a $200 dealer part. They said, that's what it costs. (That's without labor) such a rip off. I did not let them do it. The day after I picked up my truck, I noticed a leak under the oil filter. The mechanic installed the gasket improperly and the filter was leaking. I called the shop and they asked me to bring it back. I took 2.5 hours off work and brought my truck back. I thought since their screw up cost me time and money now, I would get a break on a alignment. They gave me $20 off. Not even in the same ballpark of my missed pay. The mechanic that fixed the filter stated that the gasket was defective. That's a lie. I just laughed. The only thing defective is their mechanics. All three shops are the same. Overpriced, fear based tactics, dishonest and no talent hack shops. Not to mention they lied about a bunch of the items that needed serviced. The folks there seemed competent and motivated, and the customer facing attitude was welcoming and pleasant. It was really the best experience I've had in an auto service department, where all I was doing really was waiting but the environment was good to be in. There was a thorough inspection to my vehicle as well and I was impressed with the report provided through a link via email, which was easy to access, review, and understand. The list is also provided on the paper receipt, but the email link has helpful additional info about each point. As a bonus there are doughnuts and coffee in the lobby and the restroom looked very nice. But last Friday when I went to the Hesperia Road shop to get an estimate on replacing a timing belt and water pump, I was quoted a $4400.00 price. As a former mechanic, I knew the price was overly inflated and was told in the past by the now retired owner to see him for an honest price. Anyway, Jason tried to tell me that I also needed new motor and transmission mounts that I recently replaced myself. Anyway, I went to Valley High Toyota to get an estimate from them and they quoted $1500.00, 1/3 of what Big Apple wanted. Have been a customer for a couple years. Went in this week for a little help tightening the exhaust flange on my jeep wrangler. The female who is apparently the manager or owner at the desk was rude and said they would not tighten it for me unless they did the origional work. I expressly stated I would assume the liability and pay whatever they felt was fair. I was just asking for a little help since I did not have a lift or the correct tools for the job. I had my motorhome towed there and then had it had to stay overnight and they helped us clean it out , clean out the refrigerator ordered us a rental car. And then I realized I didn't have a suitcase because of course everything was packed in my motorhome one of the wonderful guys ran up to his house got me a suitcase and 2 ice chests so we could continue on to Vegas.
