We just had our first lesson with teacher Mark. It was worth every dime! I had been on the fence for a while about private lessons. However my kids will be the oldest ones with floatees on and it's about that time! They've been crying at swimming lessons so I thought I would give it at a try at our community pool, where they have have had nothing but happy memories. So you're probably wondering why you should shell out $$$ for lessons: 1. They are not that much more when you consider the convenience of lessons at your pool when you want them 2. One on one or semi-private, as opposed to 4 Kids to a class! 3. The teacher progresses at your child's pace, not to the lowest denominator. Within 9 minutes (yes, count them), teacher Mark had them doing "Big Arms". My kids have been doing "torpedoes" and floats forever in group lessons. I don't recall them doing arms. Then they moved to the deep. At this rate we will be out of floatees in 2 weeks! If you want your kids to learn water safety and to swim at their own pace, this is the way to go!!! I may sign up my oldest as well to get her ready for competitive swim team! read more

Update 7/14: I received a personal apology from the owner Chris and a complete refund. Never received a lesson: -First teacher canceled for a family emergency, then she was a no show again the next day with no call from her or the agency. -Second teacher, agency called and said she was in traffic but would be there. She never showed, nor she or the agency called. read more

These guys are disorganized with poor communication. I set up lessons with Luke. The person rescheduled and then came a week later. After one lesson, they quite. No idea why they quit. Then I was told a new person would be sent. Over a week later, no response. I originally signed up for courses end of May and wanted to start lessons right away. Now it is almost July and still no lessons. I could have had regular lessons for over a month. Big waste of time. read more

The follow through of Big Arms Swimmers is terrible. We are using them as I pre-paid ...but twice in one week they've cancelled same-day. This happened even after I specifically confirmed. We are using Haley and she's good with my kids, but it's not run as a business. Terrible operation. ================================== Updated 8.18.16 After I wrote this review - literally the next day - someone called me to cancel ALL THREE lessons for the next week. I don't think that they actually schedule you with an instructor when they confirm your dates. They hope for the best and are fine cancelling on customers at the last minute, with no consideration for your time/schedule/planning. Worst experience ever! They just did not show up but they charged me and they did not respond when I questioned this. Horrible experience and my poor 2.5 year old was left standing by the pool with no lesson multiple times. read more

My two boys have had several lessons with Brandon (Sacramento area). He has been wonderful! He is a great combination of teaching the proper technique, and incorporating some fun during the lessons, which is great for little boys. It also helps them feel comfortable in the water and enjoy themselves. We've used Big Arms for two years, and the teachers have been terrific, young adults. I love the convenience of using our own pool. read more

Very good teachers but horrible agency. Because of bay area traffic, the instructor was late multiple times but very good with kids so i did not mind. However, instructor got sick and he had to cancel the lessons twice so we had extra lessons scheduled but Big arms did not respond properly and charged me for another 6 lessons automatically instead of me calling them and cancelling them. And they are not even responding back with reversing the charges. Dont go with them . read more

My 3.5 year old loved his first class! The instructor was great with him in the pool- understanding my son's capability quickly and moving at the right pace for him. My son loves swimming now! So convenient too! Update to review-- The instructor was great but the scheduling / admin was horrendous. Multiple last minute cancellations of lessons, last minute changes to start time of lesson- completely unprofessional. Ruined our scheduling for multiple weeks and disappointed a 3.5 year old one too many times. The entire back office of scheduling and invoice processing is a mess. Also, can never get a hold of anyone. Will not be using them again. Too bad. read more

My two grandsons had a few lessons with instructor Sam Lee (San Jose). They already took swim lessons for 5 month before in the athletic club, but I did not see much progress. Sam did incredible job. My 6 year old twins learned for a few lessons more then for 5 previous month. Sam is very enthusiastic during the lesson , gives them home work and follow up next lesson. I am very glad we have Sam as instructor this year and would like to continue with him next year. read more

Terrible customer service - they charge for lessons which are cancelled and never re-scheduled. I asked for a refund on unused classes and they never responded. Impossible to speak with someone over the phone. The number listed states the number is no longer in service. Atrocious experience. read more

I used them last year and was very pleased with Kevin and Chris. They worked with two 2 year olds that cried the whole time but did learn. This year I tried them again, and I got Hayden who seems very good and the kids are now 3 and even though a little resistant they seem to be learning. He is very patient. As far as payment they have been very kind and let me pay in 2 installments. So my experience with the three instructors I have used has been great. It is really nice that they come to our home which makes it a lot easier with 2 children in Agoura. read more

Beware they steel your money and do not provide the swim service!!! I paid $246 for 6 lessons and no instructor showed up for the lessons. When I called the coordinator Terin he said no one was available for the lessons and would issue a refund. After several phone calls and 5+ emails, I never heard back. So I had my bank dispute the charge and the company continued to refuse to issue a refund. My bank is now further making an investigation since I have documentation that I contacted them and they never responded. What a mess!! Do not use this company unless you want to loose your money. In addition, they do not have trained swim professionals. They are just high school students with no organization. read more

Booked private swim lessons for both my boys, great deal and convenient they come to my pool. Get a call two days before scheduled swim lessons with a cancelation of ALL lessons and supposed refund. Claims the instructor gave her unexpected notice this week and the only other instructor in Houston (which I find hard to believe) won't drive an hour to the lesson. Incredibly frustrating as I have already pre-paid the full amount of the lessons. Private swim lessons are incredibly hard to come by, very disappointed. read more

They no called, no showed for my first lesson and then cancelled the next 2. It took several calls before I could get a refund on the lessons and even got charged for more lessons in the meantime. Every person I talked to told me how sorry they were and then took no action to correct the situation. I would like to think that this is just a one time misunderstanding, but each time I called I spoke to someone different and they each told me the same thing, "our accounting department only meets on Friday and you will have to wait until Friday for a refund". After a month of Fridays I wrote a yelp review and it was not until then that someone took ownership of their mistake and made sure things were handled. I have now been refunded my money and had several follow-up calls to see if there is anything they can do. read more

So I have been waiting for a refund on the monies paid to Big Arm Swimmers. They are quick to charge you, but horrible to refund money. I'm hoping I don't have to take them to court, but if I have to, it is worth the day off. read more

Robin is an excellent instructor who connects well with my 12 year old son. He is on time and makes it fun. Would highly recommend him.

They contact you constantly to set up appt and then get your credit card and no show no call.
