I don't usually write bad reviews or reviews at all, but I want to help people not waste the time and money we did. If your goal is purely water comfort and exposure, this place works just fine. If you want your kid to actually learn to swim, unless they're in a private, they won't. We had our daughter in the group class for 3 YOs for 7 months and they did the same 3 activities the entire time. 25 mins of a 30 min class involved a teacher moving them across the water, zero variance. Then they'd do one starfish on the back, then jump off side. Our daughter had fun, but that's not worth the cost and time to not actually learn to swim. We stuck it out and tried to be patient but enough was enough. This place just cranks out kids and doesn't seem to listen to the feedback. We finally moved to the "other" major swim school in town and within two sessions, she's already holding her breath down under water grabbing toys and swimming alone with a noodle kick support. This place is fantastic. All 3 of my children take lessons here. My daughter started lessons here during the pandemic when she was 2 and now is a fantastic swimmer and we feel very confident (she is very confident too) with her swimming abilities in open water. We frequently travel to the ocean and Tahoe and having our children know how to swim and be safe in the water is extremely important to us. Now my twin boys who are 3 are taking their lessons here and the coaches and staff are extremely friendly, positive with the kids, patient, and really help them work on their individual skills. I was a swimmer growing up and I want my kids to be swimmers too. I choose Splash Swim School because it's an indoor school near my house. We had our first class today and here are the reasons we plan to come back! 1- easy to get to, large parking lot, not a crowded area 2- super clean bathrooms and changing rooms. 3 - WARM water! My very young kids do not like the freezing cold, the air is also warm so they don't freeze when getting out of the pool. Huge benefit! 4- kind and knowledge staff- my kids had an awes time playing games, wearing flippers, singing songs, etc. I felt confident that the instructor was knowledgeable and comfort around children. 5- fun environment for kids : they play with fun toys and get to wear flippers, it A kids dream. Oh man did we have a traumatic experience here. My daughter went to two lessons here a couple of years ago and she is just recovering and starting to like swimming again now. We have lots of friends who have loved this place but it just went horribly wrong for us. Their aggressive techniques were explained to me as their standard curriculum. Other parents in the observation room told me "don't worry, your kids will get used to this" but no thanks! The staff tried to make it right by offering free private lessons but we just high tailed it out of there. Babies just cry throughout the class, the instructor is slow, so we got maybe 5 minutes of instruction in a 30-minute class. Very repetitive and children can't advance as they just teach the same thing over and over since they add new kids each week. Unbending policy for canceling - if you have full classes and waitlists, why make people give 30 days?? Girls working the front desk are snotty and dismissive. Terrible business. read more

We really enjoyed our swim lessons with Splash Swim School! Our son is 9 months old and had so much fun doing all the activities in the pool. My husband had so much fun too! :) With the recent uptick in COVID cases, I am trying to limit the amount of indoors with folks outside of our household. We haven't had a great experience here. Our 6 week old went to the hospital last week, where she stayed for over a week, and Splash charged us a missed class fee. Not a great biz model for repeat customers, if you ask me. I pay a monthly fee, shouldn't the loss to me just be the $100 I pay a month to be a member and not using it? Your child progresses to the next level and you're told he needs to move classes, yet they offer you no suitable timings. They demand 30 days notice of cancellation, yet you would be more than willing to continue if they could offer you a class time that you could actually get to. Where was my 30 days notice? I have to give you 30 days, but you don't offer the same courtesy?! They will not even consider using the credit you have towards your child's sibling who also takes classes there. Bad form Splash. Expecting families to throw a month of tuition at classes that they themselves have stated will be of no further benefit. Took our little one in for the first time. Complete chaos. 20 people inside just spectating and kids are coming in and out of the pool. I had no idea where to enter, where to wait or where to go after class. Finally after waiting in line I found out where the class instructor would be. When the class started it was just extremely crazy routine of one activity to the next that got my head all dizzy. I mean it was like "let's go in a circle and sing" then without any pause "ok now go the tunnel and splash their face". After 10 minutes of like 20 of those activities our little one cried all the way back to the car. To this day he is scared of getting into a body of water and this has ruined many of our favorite outings as used to love water and never wanted to leave. My son has been going to the school for a month now and he absolutely loves it. He is almost 3 and is in the Water Baby class and even though the class is the same, he gets more and more comfortable in water. I hope he will graduate soon to the next class and pick up new skills. In terms of the facility and staff, it is clean and staff is friendly. I wish they have enclosed shower stall for adults and teenagers. My girls have been taking lessons here for years, and I have always been happy with all the instructors and administration :) There is one instructor that I want to give props to, and that is Ms. Rollie. My child was very afraid once she entered the yellow group, especially since the lesson's time changed and she was going without her sister. Ms. Rollie is an amazing teacher. She is very present with the children, and watches their every move, and will correct their every move, in a very kind way. It is exactly what you would want in a swim teacher! I've been taking my 2 year old grandson to Splash for the past 3 months. He loves attending the classes and has a sweet primary instructor, but the assistant instructor is a different teenager for every class, there's crazy staff turnover at this company. His classes are basically "play time", rather than "learning" lessons. There are always two staff members at the front desk as we enter and depart the facility ... not once has anyone ever said "welcome, hello, goodbye"! The most upsetting issue is their make-up policy - which is NO MAKE-UPS! We are currently researching other swim class facilities - if anyone has a recommendation, please advise. The swim classes might be 30 minutes but you kid really gets about 6 minutes of "real" instruction. Just do the math (5-6 kids are in every class). You'll find that your kid is holding on to the wall more than they are swimming. THIS IS FACT, AND READ OTHER POSTS AND YOU WILL FIND THE SAME. My daughter spent a whole summer taking swimming lessons at this facility and barley learned a thing. She transitioned through a few colors and when she left last summer she received her purple ribbon. Honestly, the ribbon program is a joke. You have to remember, that this is a business. And the only way businesses stay afloat is if they make money. You can tell that this place is about making money, not teaching kids how to swim. When my daughter was enrolled last year, I noticed she learned very little skills primarily because of the system they have in place. It's not really an individualized program (although they tell you it is). For instance, if your kid is an all-star, you kid will not be moved into the next level until the entire class is ready. The only time my kid was moved up in levels is because I asked why it is she's still in the same level. Miraculously, she then gets moved. Meanwhile, this allows the owner (Liz) to continue collecting a paycheck. Another thing about this place is it's always stuffy and hot. Notice, they do not use air conditioning. During the summer, it's extremely uncomfortable to wait and your child. Just another observation made. These conditions only help solidify the shadiness of this business. This summer, I decided to give this place another try. I tried it for one lesson, and they immediately want to move my daughter down a level. But... I get it. She might be a little rusty, but it upset me because I knew how slow it is to move in skill/level. So, I asked to cancel nicely, and didn't get the answer I wanted. I pretty much got the "contract" answer saying I have to give 30 days notice... blah, blah, blahh... It turned into a bit of a verbal altercation, and after 2 weeks and a credit card dispute filed, I finally received my money back. I did not understand why it was so difficult getting my money back for services that I did not want anymore. It's one thing if she's been enrolled all summer long, but ONE LESSON!!!! Gimme a Break! The fact that you have to wear a mask IN THE POOL is laughable. My mask was soaked with chlorine which is probably dangerous and they literally watch you and make sure it's over your nose because my son kept pulling it off. The mask mandate is lifted and it's even easy to stay 6 feet apart. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

"Extremely unaccommodating and misled." I was MISLED when I signed up. They told me you get 2 missed classes a year, but in the same breath said there are no make ups. What does 2 missed classes a year mean?! When I signed up, I thought 2 missed classes meant you could make them up. So I had a family matter and was out of town. Upon return, they said there are no make ups, you still pay for your missed classes, but you could drop in using 2 free classes regardless of missed or not. WELL...then they could say you could miss 10 classes, still pay those, and still not make it up but you could use your 2 free classes. What a MINDF&*K. It boils down to the fact there are no such thing as 'you get 2 missed classes a year.' When I called management, they said if it wasn't the right fit we could leave the swim school, without actually admitting they were misleading. They DO NOT CARE about loyalty AT ALL. They could take it or leave it that you're there. Plus, their rates go up $20 a year. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AT ALL. Because we live close by I feel stuck after introducing my son. How could a business operate knowing there are parents that are just doing it in resentment and disgust while their kids are innocent and already started and they've already expected to return the next week. How could you yank them out right when you started. It comes back to I WAS MISLED, and management WOULD NOT accommodate AT ALL. They would rather lose business than offer 1 make up. STINGY SCHOOL. STINGY BUSINESS. They also didn't care if you wrote a bad review. They accept it, too. How stupid. Then, when I went on YELP, there were all these reviews of the same thing. They list out all the very poor issues that were TRUE. I feel suckered. I told them I'm taking my son while feeling misled, and they stuck the policy of no make ups in my face...while I signed up with 'you get 2 missed classes.' DO NOT JOIN THIS SWIM SCHOOL. YOU WILL REGRET INCREMENTALLY, because eventually you'll realize 1) Policies are a rip off, 2) Prices will increase every year in order for you to quit like a rip off storage rental, 3) no extra swim times to practice, 4) Staff are extremely unaccommodating, 5) Bad and rude management 6) You're going to hate every minute watching your kids who are already suckered and can't do anything about it as a parent because it's disorienting to yank them right when they joined. My daughter has been going there for three years. I am lowering my star rating because thru time, I've gotten to really see their shortfalls. The positives first: The place is clean and waters are warm. Each ribbon level and what is required is clearly defined. It is great for kids who are just starting to swim as it is methodical and they focus on water safety. The negatives: Each class is 30 mins and a group of 4 kids. The kids stay together and the class moves to the next ribbon only after all the kids complete that level. What that means if your kid is ready to work on the next level's skills, she can't move up until everyone else is ready. Theoretically, that is fine but practically, kids like mine who has consistently gone for 3 years every week gets held back. There are always kids moving from class to class, dropping out, new kids coming in. My daughter was in the red ribbon for almost 12 months and now has been in blue starfish for 8 months. I wanted to nudge my daughter a bit and have her do the 45 min classes and Splash won't let her. I know my daughter and she works well when nudged. I have taken my daughter there for 4.5 years, every since she was 2 and the last 3 years consecutively. They don't value my business, my loyalty. It took Tiffany, the WC manager, 1.5 weeks to get back to me with a simple question. I can't even sign up for class 2 months ahead of time, because their system can't support advance booking. The teachers are unexperienced, very strict with kids, and use "cry it out" method if the kids don't listen to them.. seriously. My kids loved water, swimming and pools, we've been going to a different pool for 2 years, that's why I was so confident when I booked 2 camps back to back and paid over $600 for 2 weeks. I knew my kids would love it. But instead the teachers ruined the whole experience for them by forcing and pushing the kids to do things through crying.. i was trying to talk to everyone at this facility including the owner, explaining that there are better ways to teach kids like through playing but they insisted that they've been doing it for years and that's the best way when the kids learn it through crying. I couldn't believe it! Now my kids are afraid of water, pools and everting that reminds them this horrible place. We are spending hundreds of dollars with therapy to remove those fears. Also when we canceled the classes, the splash didn't return our money back for the half of unused lessons. We were going to AQUATECH and planning to come back there once they open after the pandemic. AQUATECH is so much better, the trainers are experienced, gentle and friendly with the kids and they have makeup classes policy, you can cancel on the day of the class even. This review might be bit longer however I must express all the feelings and the experience for you to imagine how bad this place is. Our daughter is now 4 years old and she has been attending to splash since she was 7 months old. First couple of years the things were really good and she was enjoying it since either me or my wife would swim with her. When she reached to level 2 it was hard for her to swim with the instructor and took some time to develop the trust, comfort and feeling of the safety with the stranger in the water. One period they stared to change instructors every week so my daughter would see someone different almost every other class. It was very stressful for her but we were hoping that she will get used to it and will enjoy the water. Last thing we wanted was to stop the classes. One time about a month ago our daughter start refusing to get to the water very badly, she was crying none stop very unusual. What happen is that the instructor, some carless person, who would look on her watch every 3 minutes and look up the ceiling like she is dreaming instead of watching out for the kids didn't see how my daughter is sinking. So, after that incident she only went to water for 10 minutes the next class after crying for 20 minutes then another 15 minutes after crying the half time again. So, the third time I took her to the class and she did the same thing and I went to talk with the scheduling person to change her day, time and the instructor with the hope that she will be fine. When the next class came, guess what, the same instructor with her fake smile on her face was waiting in the water for our daughter. She saw her and start crying again, shaking and saying me to take her home. So, I came to them and ask them to put our account on hold thinking that in a few months she will calm down and forget what happened to her and we will take her back. Guess what they have told me. They said not a problem we can do that however we need to charge you for the upcoming three classes since that was the first class in the billing cycle. In addition to that they also charge for that day even though the mistake was theirs. I got in to argument with them but of course not for the $60.00 dollars. We paid them 1000's of dollars all those years and it was so insulting and disappointing to learn that all they care was the $$$. They don't care for your kid, they don't care about the emotions, stress, psychology of your kid. Otherwise they could have apologized for what have happened with the sinking incident and the messed-up schedule and offer couple complimentary classes if we ever decided to go back. But NO instead they did collect the full month's fee and didn't show any disappointment at all. For them losing a customer that has been attending for over 3 years and the fact that they couldn't manage a two 3-4 years old kids in the water at the same time meant nothing. This is not a restaurant so people can take the look on the reviews and go get the experience. This is your kid that you are trusting to this careless, unprofessional people. If you want to do something good for your kids don't take them to splash. If you have no other choice and the place is the only place nearby, still DON'T. At some point, you will regret 100%. My 5 year has been here for a little over 2 weeks doing intensive 4 days a week. I decided to give this place a try despite the negative reviews. The first day was a little rocky far I called and spoke to gabby about my concerns and she provided excellent customer service also put my mind at ease a bit. My kid have attended this school for almost two years and I want to share my poor experiences at this school. 1. The rate keeps changing without informing you in advance. We started while the rate was $88 per month with 25$ of yearly membership fee. Half a year later it was raised to $90 and then $94. The monthly fee is deducted automatically from our credit card and you only knew the new rate from the new bill. No one will inform you in advance. 2. Pool issues happen without former notice. This summer, we experienced 3 pool issues. We drove about 10 miles in afternoon traffic to the school only to know that they can not have classes on the day because of the pool issue. Things happen. This is understandable, but three times in one summer is really hard to understand. Moreover no one is compensating for the time and efforts spent in vain driving there with a disappointing kid. 3. No makeup classes are allowed. No matter how early you try to inform them about your vacations or any other arrangement, no makeup is possible. Only when they had pool issue, they would offer a makeup, which means makeup is not always impossible, the only problem is the reason for the makeup. 4. The ribbons are extremely hard to get. My friend's boy used to hear the teacher told the supervisor that the boy was ready for his ribbon, but the supervisor replied: "OK, let him wait another week" without really looking at how the boy was doing. My kid used to have a very good teacher who she loved dearly, but after she left, everything hidden became intolerable. Parents share the same feelings that the school tried hard to delay the ribbon so as to keep the kids in their school as long as possible. 5. Time is quite limited. 30 mins class in water and after that no time for the kid to play or practice at school. 6. No feedback to parents. This depends very much on the teacher. After my kid had the new teacher, we had no clue how she can improve any more. My kid got her last ribbon in summer and half a year is gone, she has not got her current ribbon yet. And the funny part is that, the teacher is not focusing on the practice of the current ribbon, instead she is teaching skills for the next ribbon already. 7. Poor office management. We lost a big bow at school and when we went there the next day, we were informed that they got it and left it on the counter. However, after they tried to contact the colleague who got the bow, we were informed that it was lost during the night when they were closed. I was informed that it "strangely" disappeared the next morning when they came to the office. The kid was thrilled when they told her that they got it, but she broke into tears when she knew that it was lost from the counter. I hope all the documents with private information of kids and family would not be lost so strangely too. I gave two stars because I wanted to thank the last loving teacher we had who helped in covering up problems this school had, but for the rest of it, we were really disappointed. If you have any other choices, please don't consider this swim school. read more

Dont even bother coming here. My son used to love being in the water but now thanks to Splash Swim he now has anxiety about being in the water. The class was supposed to get him comfortable to be in the water by himself without Dad or I in there with him. Instead they were forcing him to do techniques he wasnt ready to try. During class when he would tell the instructor he didnt want to do it. The instructor was aggressive with him and being rough with him. Like forcing him on his back when he would turn on his stomach because he wasnt comfortable. Instead of finding a way to get him more used to doing the technique. We talked to management. But I'm almost certain there were no consequences to the instructor. You have to remember these are high school / college kids teaching kids here. Who really dont give a shit about yours. I seriously wish I would have listened to the reviews about their aggressive and really uncaring ways they try to teach your child. There are better schools out there. My child has been coming here for a good 5 years and the only reason I am still paying is because I don't have any other options nearby in terms of year around swim lessons in an in-door pool. From the first year till now, I have had several run ins with front office staff because they have managed to mess up over and over again, weather with the scheduling, move up reassignments or just not notifying parents when there are pool problems. Also, the teacher turnover is extremely high. My kid has a different teacher, every other week. There are also no make-up sessions allowed. If you choose to take a different class for one week, that will become your permanent one. With the price per session, you would think, they could provide some flexibility for working parents that may miss the class because there are Bart/or traffic problems. read more

All my daughters went through Splash Swim School and we've had excellent experiences. We've enjoyed the indoor, heated pool, and instructors. They are great with the kids, making sure they fully understand each stroke and breathing technique before moving on to the next thing. The instructors are also really great at keeping parents informed of their progression. My older daughters went through the ribbon program, earning new level ribbons until swim team started. They will continue again in the winter to keep up with their strokes ad exercise. My youngest just moved up to the advanced toddler lessons and is making great strides in being water safe. I agree with other posts that it's been painstakingly slow re trying to sign up. I'm gong to keep trying bc it seems they do combine safety w learning which Aquatech does not! Also Aquatech instructors chanfe so freqtly . Will keep u updated if My kids ever get in! Just FYI my kids continued with aquatech. Had private instructor evaluate regarding their pool safety and they were ok! read more
