This is just a partial review since we only tried the snow play area. Tickets were $25 per person, and the process was smooth with almost no wait. They're pretty thorough about checking waivers, which I appreciated for safety. The snow play space is small with a short slope, but they provide a bunch of plastic sleds, so it's still fun to mess around. I just wish tubing was included for the price. Two events lead to this 1-star review. First, I had just loaded onto lift 13 when the lift stopped. I looked back to see 2 snowboarders fighting on the ground in front of the lift. The fact that some people can be A-holes isn't what bothered me, what bothered me is the incredibly slow and lackadaisical response from the staff. The attendant from the lift was doing her best to separate them while I watched 1 staff member slowly walk over. Second, and this was the most troubling, was the lack of attention to beginner-level skiers on lift 2. My wife took our 6-year-old, first-time skier on to lift 2 while I followed right behind. We both let the attendant know it was his first time on the lift to which she just responded "chase the chair and you'll be fine". As the chair came around I watched my son almost fall off the seat. My wife and I both yelled stop as she pulled him back on. Without even turning to look, the attendant nonchalantly said "he's fine, he was on". When we reached the top of the lift, there was no assistance to help them and they ended up taking a big fall off the chair, both hitting their heads and my wife injuring her tailbone. They stopped the lift just long enough to get them to the side before resuming again. They let us know in the future we should give them a thumbs down on the approach and they'll slow down the lift. It would have been REALLY nice if the attendant at the bottom of the hill had let us know that. As we gathered ourselves on the benches, we watched beginner after beginner fall as soon as the chair pushed them forward. Often times there were 4-5 people on the ground, creating obstacles for other skiers to avoid as they exited the lift. Several times we watched the exiting skiers fall over previous skiers that weren't able to clear the area. All this to say, the concern for safety and level of professionalism left a lot to be desired and we do not plan on returning. read more

We paid approximately $210 for 3 tickets to snow tubing and snow play. It took us about 30 minutes to arrive from our cabin and parking was easy as they had attendants to help facilitate. Check in was fast and everyone who worked there were incredibly friendly and energetic. Their welcoming attitude made the whole thing relaxing and fun. This review is for Snow Valley's Thunder Mountain BBQ & Bar. Family loves the loamy downhill mtb runs and zero lines! Trails always maintained and changed up each season. But, my boys disguise going to SV to eat the wagyu burgers with fresh trimmings and seriously killer fries. Kinda not kidding. Best burgers ever, the chef knows his grill. So, this review is actually for Thunder Mtn BBQ & Bar. There was an honest mixup with an order, and Mackenzie the Supervisor, Matt the Sous Chef, and Cole another Supervisor honored the order redo without hesitation. Nicest damn people on the mountain, seriously! Wished I wasn't driving or I'd hit up their open air bar lickity frickin split. It's all new digs on the mountainside porch looking up at the runs. There were about 10 people in our family that came on this trip and not only enjoyed the tubing but also ate inside of the building that offered several different types of food along with a full bar. This is a great mountain to ski and snowboard its more of a beginner and amateur mountain. The parking is good. The lodge needs a bit of an update, however, the customer service is excellent and we had great service in the gift shop. Too bad this season 25/26 is lacking snow. read more

Came here to snowboard for the first time and had a great time. The check-in process went smoothly and even though there was a lot of people, the area was pretty spacious to accommodate everyone. After a few runs, we went to get drinks from the bar which were very delicious and mixed well. We ended up eating after and just got some chicken tenders and fries. They also serve Chinese food but it was unfortunately closed the day we went. There was lots of seating available which was ideal since we were a large group. We love coming here as our local resort! Great for beginners with so many green and blue runs. Maybe not as fun for those who are more advanced but still a great resort for all. It's very easy to book ahead online and book parking as well. If you have your annual pass, parking should be included/free. Once you are at the resort, check-in is super easy as well. Even when crowded, there is plenty of space and most of the lifts are pretty fast. They also have some pretty decent options at their food hall/cafeteria or you could always bring your own. If like to sleep in a little and you're a night owl like I am, hit up Snow Valley for Night Boarding! It 30 mins before Snow Summit with ample parking! We brought headlights to put over our helmets. Some areas are are dark and hard to see so the lights helped. We did bring the kids in the day for some sledding and snow play before hitting the trails. This is the only resort where you can bring kids for sledding, snow play and get on the trails all right next to each other! Definitely an under-rated resort, often over-looked by neighboring resorts such as Big Bear Mountain Resort and Snow Summit. Whether you're a seasoned expert or a beginner, Snow Valley provide an excellent range of slopes and amenities to suit all levels. They offer 14 runs, catering to a range of skill levels. Beginners will appreciate the wide, gentle slopes, while intermediate and advanced skiers/snowboarders can enjoy more challenging runs. Snow Valley gets a fair amount of natural snow, and the resort has invested in snow-making capabilities to ensure there's coverage throughout the season. It's a great spot for an early-season ski trip, as the resort often opens earlier and close later than some other local area resorts. Pricing is a bit more affordable than the company counter parts but can still be pricey for those who didn't opt to purchase a season pass (IKON, EPIC, and BBMR). Snow Valley is about 30 minute drive back down the mountain if you are staying in Big Bear. Although there is a drive, I like this spot better than Big Bear and Snow Summit, but that's from the perspective of someone who lounges with alm thir families food and extra backpacks....haha. It's a bit less crowded than the 2 other popular slopes, but it's not too bad considering you could go on more runs. :) I like their lounge area as there is a large upper area. I know some people prefer Snow Summit and Big Bear over Snow Valley, but not me! One of the biggest perks of Snow Valley is its parking--free for passholders, conveniently located, and never full. That means: 1. Your car is your locker 2. Just park and go, no need to take a shuttle! The bathrooms are always well-maintained and decently clean, which is a nice bonus.The cafeteria offers a solid variety of typical ski resort fare, and the prices aren't outrageously high. There are plenty of tables, and they even provide free water--definitely appreciated! As for the lifts, they usually have only a few open, mostly Blue and Green runs, so it may not be ideal for Black Diamond seekers. But as a beginner, I love it! Plus, the live webcams make it easy to check conditions and crowd levels before heading out. And the best part? It's 20-30 minutes closer than the other resorts when coming from Running Springs--less time driving, more time on the slopes! read more

People here in a long line, getting the ski pass not too crowded. But the staff working very slow not professional at all. A group of 6 people in our group for 5 teenagers and 1 baby 7 years old I asked if it's okay or any suggestions for the baby boy they said ok . This is my first time to take my kids to this place to have experience. But after I understand it I know It doesn't feel like they care about the quality of their service and safety. We're arrival around 2pm but until 5:40 my daughter and her friends still waiting in the line to ride a lift & the baby boy just wasted money to payed them. Parking is $25. Snow play is $29 for a tiny area with little slope for sledding. Staff was unprofessional. I bought a pre-sale ticket dated 2025 that has black out dates for 2025 AND 2026. I went on the date that wasn't on the list of black out dates. The window staff refused to honor by claiming they have changed the black out dates for 2026. I went to talk to "customer service" guy upstairs. The guy acted nonchalant like not giving a damn that they are not honoring their own tickets! With the additional $25 for parking, our family of 3 paid $100. The snow play was a joke. You'd think that since it's man-made snow, they would at least make some fresh powder and dump it out at opening. Instead, at 10am, there was no snow-- only ice. They provided some "snow toys" which were just some sleds and no other toys. The tiny slope was fine for young children to sled. As a frequent flier to the local mountains to snowboard, Snow Valley is definitely a mountain with convenience. it is the closest to the bottom, roughly 30-45 min closer than Snow Summit/Big Bear resorts. We opted to visit this location for my birthday and we were pleased! Rolled up at 8:52a on a Wednesday and they still had a few ADA spots available, which was great! The mountain is very beginner friendly and most the runs are manageable. Some Blue runs can be considered higher end Green runs. Although the resort isn't massive, it does have several runs available and a park! For the quality of the snow and it being closer to the bottom, this resort is well worth it to check out! read more

The slopes were maintained well, the premise was clean and organized. It was also not so crowded despite the holiday week. This review is specific to give thanks to the wonderful staff who helped my 14 year old son. It was my daughter (8) and son (14) who has autism visiting for the first time. My son was struggling to learn but a few young men staff were so encouraging and helpful. I remember specifically, Isaac who taught him how to put his boots in and out of the board and how to lead. Then a couple more of the staff were giving him instruction. It was warm, encouraging and so appreciated. Having a child with special needs makes outings more difficult and not always enjoyable. The Staff was very friendly and it made all the difference for us. By the end of the day he picked it up and is ready to come back. read more

I took my 8 year old here for ski school the day after Xmas as he had been begging me to learn to ski for years. I grew up skiing in the mountains of Big Bear, but hadn't been skiing in at least 20 years, so was not very confident in my ability to teach him. I prepaid for everything ahead of time online including parking, ski school, ski rentals, and helmet rentals for both of us. It was pretty expensive for everything, around $500 for the both of us. I signed him up for the 9am class as I knew it would be busy. I had printed all of our vouchers which was beneficial as most of the employees were just able to scan them quicker. We quickly got front parking, got our lift tickets printed and then stood in the rental line. We got in the rental line and wow, it filled up quick. We still were in line almost 40 minutes. We had a couple that asked if they could go in front of us with a kid that also had ski school and was freaking out saying they had to get out of line to get tickets and blah blah so I let them go ahead of me. Right when they got to the front, they had 10 other kids cut the line. I pretty much was not about to put up with that and told them they could pound sand and it was extremely rude to cut the line the way they were especially when I cut them a break and let them go ahead of me. Rude people. They offered to let me go ahead of them but stayed in line. Staff did nothing while other people in line just stood around pissed at the people. We got our gear and went over to ski school. I dropped my son off and went over the bar for an hour. Rented a $27 locker for the day as I didn't feel like walking to my car with super heavy gear. I finally got the cahones to finally get on my skis and get out. I saw my son and he was still learning basic skills. I went down the bunny hill once by myself and did ok. My son only went down the hill once in the three hour class. The class gets to cut the line, but it was still pretty busy getting on the lift and even getting down cause there were only 3 hills even open as it has been really warm. I took him down a few times after and we stayed almost all day. Staff was pretty nice and we had a nice time. read more

There are different lines for singles, couples and groups so all lines go really fast and it never took longer than 5 minutes It's the first time in my life when I spend so short time in a line. I've been a regular visitor of Snow valley for many many years, so this year it is owned by big bear Company. Nothing changed, except prices went double. We also had the worst experience on chairlift number 13, operators were running it so fast, my friend couldn't catch up with the lift and fall under, and almost had a very bad injury. I don't know why they're running chairlift 13 in snow valley that fast because it is a beginner level lift. The price is doubled, but I don't see any other improvement other than putting an electric door at the entrance, and a couch by the fireplace. read more

I had not been to Snow Valley in a very long time and was surprised how much I enjoyed my visit. The best thing about Snow Valley is you save 30 minutes of driving (easily turns into an hour in traffic) compared to the Big Bear resorts. Assuming the weather is cooperating and there is ample snow, Snow Valley has enough runs to satisfy most skiers. The only downside is that the runs are much shorter compared to the large resorts in the Sierras. If you avoid the base, the lift lines up in the mountain are short or non-existent, even in the weekend. The ski rental was priced reasonably and very efficient. The cafeteria was just ok and overpriced (who isn't). Parking on weekend is $10. What I didn't realize was that you can apply the $10 to your purchase in the cafeteria so bring the ticket with you. One word of advice, don't bring a back-pack. They are very strict in not letting you wear a backpack on the lift. Overall a very enjoyable time at Snow Valley, surprisingly. read more

Oldest continually run ski resort in SoCal, started in the 1920s as "Fish Camp". Originally was the site of one of the very first overhead ski lifts designed by one of the founders of Nothrup Grumman. Nowadays they use artificial snow machines but this week brought plenty of snow showers that blanketed everything in snow. Mt. Baldy and Mountain High are more well known but we liked Snow Valley for the pricing and the more diverse crowds. Strangely endearing to me were the ladies in full clubbing makeup while hitting the slopes, loved the effort. Tips: -Get here early, google maps is wrong and you'll see the minutes keep changing if you come too late. You'll probably spend about 30 minutes changing and prepping anyway, and better do that than to sit in bumper-to-bumper. -Lifts get crazy busy after lunch, skip lunch or eat at a weird time if you can. -Parking lot, there is often three rows of parking so look when you park and make sure there is space for others to get out, saw some people get stuck or do some crazy moves to maneuver out. -Coming and going up the mountain don't be a dumbass. We saw so many impatient people driving into the oncoming traffic lane to pass a slow truck or car, you'll just end up behind another one. There are a couple passing-lane spots, on the way back we were delayed by two hours because a Mr. Impatient tried using the opposite lane to pass someone and slammed head-on into a totally innocent driver. Total chaos with cars at a standstill for hours and ambulance and police rushing down the mountain. read more

Both of them have incredible personalities--fun, patient, and totally tuned into their students' needs. We're back here again in SNOW VALLEY. My son brought another group of his Friend here at SNOW VALLEY, and this time for SKIING and SNOWBOARDING. We were driving to BIG BEAR and we were still in the lower Part of the Mountain, but there was already a lot of Snow, and there was already a checkpoint where they checked for Tire Chains. I'm glad our Vehicle has a Tire Chain Ready in our Trunk, or else it would be expensive if you buy it here . There's no EXCEPTIONS on the TIRE CHAIN RESTRICTIONS when there is THICK SNOW here, unless you have a car with four-wheel drive, then you are good to go. But if you have no ways providing yourself a Tire Chain when needed, then they will send you back home. So always check the Tire Restrictions when planning to go up here. We didn't get into any Traffic going up here, we made it in time for our Reservation. Upon arriving at Snow Valley, it started to pour more Snow and it hurt my Face 'coz it was blowing a lot in my Face ;) Everything went Smoothly 'coz we had done everything, the purchase and reservation, online for our LIFT and SKI TICKETS. If you decided to do the in-person purchase, you have to go in a long line for a TICKET, if it is your First time coming here, I suggest that you purchase your Tickets here so that you know which activity really suits you here 'coz there are NO REFUND once you have purchased already. I spent today $600 + plus for 4 People for SKI and SNOWBOARD and of course LIFT ACCESS . And also, they do Offer MILITARY discount here, but it only works if you purchase it here, it won't work on the online purchase. My son and his friend had a Smooth Transaction on getting their gear to go SKIING and SNOWBOARDING. It's not my son's first time to SKI or SNOW BOARD here , he came here Multiple times to SKI before, so he is really familiar with the place. While they are in the SNOW, I went to their Food Area 'coz usually there's Tables and Chairs in all of the Outdoor Decks, but today they were set-aside, maybe 'coz of the extreme snow here today . The first floor of their food area was packed with people, and the Food was almost out for the day. I bought a CHICKEN strips, it was dry and hard, maybe it's because it was among the Last few that they were selling. Then I went to the second floor and I loved it! My eye was loving it 'coz I saw a BAR! I lined up and got my Bloody Mary drink, it has a strong Spice in it, just the way I like it and then I sat in one of the tables, ate, enjoyed my drink , relax and kept myself warm while waiting for my son and his friends to finish Skiing. Absolutely love this place. Probably the best bang for the buck around Southern California IMHO. I'm a grizzled old school ski bum and this place is exactly like how I remember it growing up. It's not corporate, is simple, has a definite family vibe, and is there to provide people a place to SKI, not entice them to pay for overpriced hotel rooms or real estate (*cough cough* Mammoth *cough cough*). Definitely not a huge resort but it's more than enough to have loads of fun. A few other pluses: NOT corporate - has not been assimilated and ruined by IKON. Hopefully it stays indy. Local vibe. Cool people working there for the most part. Varied terrain. Good for beginners as well as for experienced rippers (esp. if Slide Peak is on) Short lift lines Old school lift tickets (not the stupid RFID "track you everywhere" ones that the big mountains have adopted that never work) Night skiing (when they do it, it's pretty good) NOT overcrowded usually NOT overrun with 20-something a-hole snowboarders getting high and trying to out-teen-angst each other (*cough cough* Bear / Summit *cough cough*) Decent terrain features ("Edge terrain park") with some cool jumps and rails for the borders and freestyle ski guys to shred on Hang out, tailgate, have a beer in the parking lot, no biggie, no attitude. Like it. WAY easier to get go up 330 /18 than going to Bear or Summit For a small mountain their main lift cranks - fast, 6-seater. The load queue is a free-for-all madhouse though so it's usually +/- 3 people per chair unless it's busy and they tell people to get cozy (uncommon). Slide Peak. When it's open, it's an absolute gem. Best old-school, visceral stuff around IMO. Problem is it's hardly ever open. A few things to be aware of: Parking is paid - only $10 but it can be kinda off-putting. They need it though. The main lot is in pretty serious need of a regrade / repave Bathrooms are kind of a pain to get to from the main hill (but do have adequate capacity and they do a decent job cleaning them) Main lodge and deck / patio is kinda small, so runs out of seating quickly. Cafe prices aren't too unreasonable for a resort Rentals can be chaotic. I only dealt with that a couple of times - I have my own gear and my kids do rentals from a local place so don't have to deal with it up there. Prices aren't too bad as I recall, it's just cramped and they run out of stuff not infrequently. Driving up is horrible. 330 is a log jam through Running Springs and Areowbear all the way to the tubing park pretty much every day. Bring your patience and a strong bladder because you may be in your car for 2+ hours All-in-all this has place does a really good job for a small-ish mountain. The focus is on a great and fun ski experience, as it should be, not vacuuming as much out of your wallet as possible (IKON sites), hawking overpriced hotel rooms and restaurant grub or pumping sleazy real estate deals. You don't come here because it's the best of everything, but it's an awesome, dependable spot for a fraction of the drive and cost. 1) Seamless processes from the way registration works, to bountiful and knowledgeable staffing at the rentals. Even their cafe has organized procession like IKEA's food court. Want a burger? Grab one. It's cafeteria style grab-and-pay. 2) Great for beginners. I bought a beginner snowboarding lesson. It was an hour and a half for $159 on a Sunday which included the rentals and the lift ticket. It did not include a helmet which was a $14 surcharge. 3) Long bunny slope with a good incline. It's so important that you can actually pick up some speed to learn, this place has that. Lots of plopped down people all along the bunny slope on the way down so you don't feel bad about your learning progress. 4) I really liked the food! Their nachos are in a heating cabinet and standard nacho cheese but it officially is better than the movie theater Tostitos box that I always get. Chips were crispy and not stale, and the burger was actually super tasty. Skip the chicken sandwich. For those three things though...$46 5) Short drive from LA. To have this option without a full drive to Big Bear is really nice! Knowing there's an option that had slightly softer snow than Mt. High for just an hour drive was awesome. WEIJUN! The skiing lesson I received from Weijun was next level. She did a fabulous job of listening to my skills, and she tailored drills and exercises to improve my skiing. My biggest concern leading into the day was getting off the lift (I wasn't successful during my first lesson in Mammoth). Weijun talked me through exactly what to do, reminded me to relax and smile, and I NEVER FELL WHEN I WAS WITH HER! She was so patient, kind, and smart. She was a great advocate and teacher. I would highly recommend Weijun for lessons. Few tips unrelated to my lesson: 1. Show up at least 1.5 hours before your lesson. There is no way to skip through the rentals line, and it was so so so long when I went (over 45 minutes). 2. Pre-pay! They have a great kiosk to get your pass if you pre paid and have a voucher. 3. Incredible value for a fun time!! Snow Valley is where I come again and again every year. Glad to see it fully operating again. Had time on week day last week to come up, and wow, it is great even for post winter/early spring session. The three main lifts are perfect for any skill level. I managed to finally convince my friend to come up to lift 1 with me. After that one time, it was the only lift we went on for remainder of the day. We just stuck left of the mountain and sent it down the intermediate slopes! He just had to get over that initial fear!! I feel like the people that ski/snowboard here are respectful and friendly letting you really go down the slopes at ease. Because we also came on a weekday, no traffic up and down on our drive. No long lines to get on the lifts and slopes were wide open! Great value for the lift tickets and not as high and deep into the mountains as another resort. Look out for their annual 4 pack sale for $100-120 that happens around November or so (they share updates on their social media platforms). Sucks I couldn't come up earlier when there were more pow but looking forward to the seasons ahead here! read more

This place is not for anyone with kids under 7yo - I mean yes you can come with them but it won't be much fun if you have multiple young kids. It is not a family destination even with staff telling us multiple times that we'd be able to use the site for fun with the kids. This review rating is based almost solely on the misleading staff in fact. First off we specifically asked the parking lot attendant if this was a location that we'd be able to enjoy with our 3 kids all under 5yo and he assured us that there was a play zone that we'd be able to utilize. Took our $10 and let us in to park. Then my husband bought the tickets for the play zone, so out another $150, and we all headed to the play zone after again being told all was good to go. The play zone is a GIANT hill that you have to take a lift to in order to sled down. They have a 1 adult to 1 child under 6yo ratio. WHY IN GODS NAME DID THE STAFF TELL US WE'D BE ABLE TO USE THIS?! We're we suppose to leave one toddler unattended while the other two toddlers and adults go up the hill ? So instead for the next two hours (trying to justify the money we spent) one adult took one child up at a time on the lift to sled down the hill while the other adult and two kids waited at the bottom bored to tears. In total we were able to go down the hill 9 times/3 per child as we did this awkward rotation. So is this great for adults? Probably. Skiers/snowboarders/etc? Sure. For two parents with 3 small kids however? Definitely not! P.S. Hot chocolate should be $2 at most not $4. A 6 pack of hot chocolate mix at the store is 99 cents so even selling it for $2 would give you an $11 dollar profit. read more

I would highly recommend Snow Vally Resort to any client, guest, friend or family. I don't think people take into consideration how much money it costs to buy out an existing resort....Millions. I also don't think people take into consideration how much it costs to blow snow on those mountains every other day, or what liability insurance alone would cost with an operation like this.... I opened a school and ran it for three years in Huntington Beach. 300-400 students on my grounds 3 days a week, and a preschool. My liability insurance, alone, was through the roof. I hope everyone can try and appreciate the experience the personnel at Snow Summit are trying to provide for you! A fun day filled with adventure, happy vibes and good memories. The food is restaurant quality, hot, fresh and amazing. I can attest to that. The personnel are amazing, from everyone that I have encountered there, and I personally think Snow Valley is doing a great job!!! read more

Super crowded on weekends and holiday, to the point that it can be dangerous and give a Disneyland feeling ( 45 mn wait to get the lift and ride the slope in 2 minutes). On busy days, lot of people who barely know how to ski try to ride advanced slopes or they take their kids on said slopes so it can become dangerous avoiding people who drop like flies in front of you or the ones that stop in the middle of slopes to take selfies..yep yep, you read that right. Maybe they have a death wish? Who knows lol I recommend on slow days, the slopes are nice, resort is big but AVOID on weekends or holidays. As for rental, check after the tech cause it's hit or miss, they didn't adjust my shoes right last time I went and the hook came open on a black slope, I felt my ankle start to move a little too much on a turn, checked and the thing/hook (not sure how you call that) was lose but completely jammed so I could not even open it to retighten it, I had to go down like that with a lot of caution to avoid hurting myself.. It turned out the tech had left an extender on my shoe which is not okay, and the extender came lose but yet was jammed into the slot, so I could not remove it and retighten my shoe.. read more

Their "tubing" was a waste of money. 22 yr old and 16yr old were over it after 45 mins. Maybe for younger kids (10 and under) but it's a joke of an experience for anyone looking for a true tubing experience read more
