I really enjoyed my visit in December 2024! There were about 10 people in our family that came on this trip and not only enjoyed the tubing but also ate inside of the building that offered several different types of food along with a full bar. My only complaint would be to have higher/more intense tubing experiences available. It was OK but was more in line for children not adult adults, especially for the price.

This is a great mountain to ski and snowboard its more of a beginner and amateur mountain. The parking is good. The lodge needs a bit of an update, however, the customer service is excellent and we had great service in the gift shop. Too bad this season 25/26 is lacking snow.

Came here to snowboard for the first time and had a great time. The check-in process went smoothly and even though there was a lot of people, the area was pretty spacious to accommodate everyone. After a few runs, we went to get drinks from the bar which were very delicious and mixed well. We ended up eating after and just got some chicken tenders and fries. They also serve Chinese food but it was unfortunately closed the day we went. There was lots of seating available which was ideal since we were a large group. Overall, we all had a great time snowboarding and enjoyed the fresh snow!

    Our crew. Snow condition.

If like to sleep in a little and you're a night owl like I am, hit up Snow Valley for Night Boarding! It 30 mins before Snow Summit with ample parking! We brought headlights to put over our helmets. Some areas are are dark and hard to see so the lights helped. We did bring the kids in the day for some sledding and snow play before hitting the trails. This is the only resort where you can bring kids for sledding, snow play and get on the trails all right next to each other! Overall, the trails are groomed, the food is delish, and they serve alcohol till closing!

Staff are friendly and helpful. Didn't feel rushed at all. Great spot for families with younger kids. F&B was pretty abysmal though. Not much of an option for very advanced skiers but was a fun ski trip for families . Skip the lines and buy. Your tickets online including rentals

I know some people prefer Snow Summit and Big Bear over Snow Valley, but not me! One of the biggest perks of Snow Valley is its parking--free for passholders, conveniently located, and never full. That means: 1. Your car is your locker 2. Just park and go, no need to take a shuttle! The bathrooms are always well-maintained and decently clean, which is a nice bonus. The cafeteria offers a solid variety of typical ski resort fare, and the prices aren't outrageously high. There are plenty of tables, and they even provide free water--definitely appreciated! As for the lifts, they usually have only a few open, mostly Blue and Green runs, so it may not be ideal for Black Diamond seekers. But as a beginner, I love it! Plus, the live webcams make it easy to check conditions and crowd levels before heading out. And the best part? It's 20-30 minutes closer than the other resorts when coming from Running Springs--less time driving, more time on the slopes!

People here in a long line, getting the ski pass not too crowded. But the staff working very slow not professional at all. A group of 6 people in our group for 5 teenagers and 1 baby 7 years old I asked if it's okay or any suggestions for the baby boy they said ok . This is my first time to take my kids to this place to have experience. But after I understand it I know It doesn't feel like they care about the quality of their service and safety. We're arrival around 2pm but until 5:40 my daughter and her friends still waiting in the line to ride a lift & the baby boy just wasted money to payed them. The rental gear we got was pretty worn out, wouldn't recommend it for newbies or anyone wanting a nicer experience.Really inefficient.

Took my kids sledding today . It took 45 minutes to get down hill one time due to wait times, they have 1.5 hour time slots so they got to sled twice . For the cost not worth it. First time I went down the guy pushed us backwards , not enjoyable.

Honestly, I haven't heard amazing things about Snow Valley but we went this past weekend and I was super impressed! The runs are decent, less crowded than Big Bear and closer to home. Of course don't expect it to be the size of Bear or Snow Summit but it's not horrible! We definitely plan on returning! We even got a machine wax for $15, discounted with our pass and it took less than 5min. We were in and out. Wasn't the best wax but it at least did the job!

You know someone is from California when they say they're going to the snow

All I can think of while I was here was every 80s ski movie I've ever seen! Is it a thing to have a nostalgia of a place that you've never even been. That's what a good cinema can do. #GrowingUpEighties

Ask the Community - Snow Valley Mountain Resort

Our adult kids want to come and ski while we are in town in a couple of weeks. Is there a lodge onsite for non skiers to eat/drink/hang out?

Yes, non-skiers can hang in the main lodge to eat, drink, and hang out. No lift ticket needed unless you are going onto the snow.

Is there a restaurant in the lodge? The updated website only lists food for Big Bear Mountain, not Snow Valley.

Hello, yes! We haven't built pages for the Snow Valley food and beverage offerings yet. Snow Valley offers Basecamp Barista (coffee), Chalet Grill, Hasta La Pasta, Lift Taco, Hideaway Grill, Chalet Marketplace, Last Run Lounge (bar) and Deer Meadow… Read more

If we buy ski group lesson package for kids, they get free lift tickets. Do they also have ski and boot rental included too?

Yes. You can add on skis/ski boot rentals for a discounted rate $25 for the 23/24 winter season. Start by adding a child group lesson to your cart. From there, you will be given options to add on the free child lift ticket and discount child… Read more

Does the resort offer 2-day pass like Disneyland? Does parking fee included with group lesson?

    Not at this time, no.

How is the parking situation for the 23/24 winter season? Is it still $10 parking fee that we pay upfront?

Hello, lease review the Paid Parking info here for the 23/24 winter season: https://www.bigbearmountainresort.com/transportation/parking

How do i pay for parking?

I went on a Friday Feb 3, 2023 and parking is free.

Are dogs allowed? We want to go for sled/tubing and have dogs and an elderly with us. Thanks!

Can I bring food and beverages?

theres some tables and chairs outside near the snow area but from what i saw people who brought their own food "tailgated" aka at at their cars.

My husband and I would like to take our 2 daughters to the snow and he would like to bring his sister and her 4 kids with us. Is the full day price per adult? Or would that cover everyone?

depends on the age of the child and what you are planning to do. but everyone needs to have a ticket/pay to get onto the snow.… Read more

Hi there! Does your snow tubing usually sell out on Saturdays? I want to bring my wife and 2 year old up this weekend. Not sure if it's too busy or not! Thanks!?

They do sell out really quick so you have to plan ahead😬

Hows the driving condition going there, from L.A to snow valley resort?

It was fine when we went last Sunday and should be until it rains or snows again.

Can you buy snow play tickets in advance?

No, you buy them on site. I recommend getting there at 9, you'll have to fill out a waiver for all participants and you can hang out in the lodge. It gets busy around 10 and crazy by after lunch

What time do the teens learning to ski/snowboard lessons start?

Group lesson times for ages 13+ are 10am, Noon and 2pm daily.

In Covid times, is there a place to sit and have an adult beverage after I finish my lesson and wait for my kids lesson to be done?

    Yes, outside though.

Is there an age / height limit for snow play/tubing/sledding? thank you!

For sure know that for sledding there isn't as long as they ride with you. However, it's tough to fit 2 people on there as the sleds are pretty standard.

Could we go on the lift just for fun and come down on the lift or do we have to snow board or ski down?

You can pay to sled. I think it's $40 for the day during holiday hours but about $25 at other times. It's a different run than skiing.

    How much snow tubbing?

Full day Snow play (sledding) is $36 for adults Fri-Sun, $20 Mon-Thurs Kids (6 & under) are $22… Read more

Is there snow mobile rentals here?

Need an update on this question please.

I would like to go there with my family but I can't ski or snow board. is there a place i can stay without going on the snow and still see some of the lifts? I was told to go on the snow I have to ski or snowboard. Is there cellphone service or WiFi?

Yes there is plenty of seating on a deck at the restaurant, overlooking the ski lifts. You will be able to watch the skiers go down the hill. I had no problem with cellular service. I would highly recommend Snow Summit

    Do they have a bar?

    Yes they do.

We rented a cabin by Arrowhead lake and found out AFTER we got there that it is a private lake. We were told by locals that a great family lake was Lake Gregory which was about 20 minutes away. We drove to lake Gregory only to be told by park rangers that we cant swim in the lake unless we go to the designated family beach area and pay $10 per person (adults and children included) to use a small crowded beach area. That particular day I gave in and paid so my children could have some fun outside and in the water. I was determined to continue looking... FINALLY, I searched for rivers, streams and hiking nearby to get some peace and adventure and came across this little gem. Maybe we got lucky since it was in the middle of the week, but there were very few people on the trail, not to mention only one other family with kids at the swimming hole that my kids played with. The water was clean and cool, it was not crowded, there was ample shade and sandy beach areas...it was PERFECT. I would highly recommend this area for family use.

For this most recent long three-day weekend in Lake Arrowhead we decided to finally give this place a try. We are two adults in our 30s with no kids. It is important to note that because honestly, this place is for children 10 and under. It is not for teens or adults. It is honestly pretty underwhelming if you are an adult, but it can be quite charming if you are a child. It is also $55 per person and $15 for parking which is a bit expensive, but I understand the inflated price due to the location and having to staff it. One thing about this place that is nice is they don't have a bunch of add-ons once you get inside, so you really do just pay one price unless you decide to get food as well. The other part of this park is specifically designed for people into mountain biking. They have six different trails ranging in difficulty from easy to difficult and about half of the visitors seemed to be doing that which we would go back specifically for. The activities for adults are pretty limited, so the main ones that we did were the bike in the air that goes around the rim of the property. This is the ride that you see in all the marketing and is the most popular. It was probably the most fun we had but it was honestly a bit scary once you get to the steepest point. It's about 50 feet above the ground so it would be quite a fall down. After that, we tried some archery and ax throwing which was surprisingly fun. After that, there was honestly nothing else that we could really do given our age and size so we headed out after that. This would be a great place to visit during December with children 10 and under because they do have Santa Claus and people in costumes and what not and each of the buildings is alpine themed and is very quaint. They also have a very large area that serves as a wedding location so I'm sure that is also another part of this place. There is a large free parking lot attached in front with EV charging available as well.

The crowd varies during the year, when we came during the fall weekday, it was empty and there was no wait for any of the activities. We came last week (3 days before Christmas) and we had to wait for each activity. It wasn't bad, but it did make the day longer. If you plan to eat, I would eat earlier because in the afternoon lunch our food took about 1hr. The highlight of the trip for my kid is santa and I'm glad we did that first to get a reservations. We did the mountain bike part earlier in the fall and that was nice if your kid is into it. We rented all the gear and opted for the tour guide to help us get use to it.

According to AllTrails the hike is called Metate Trail and is approximately 2 miles of fairly flat trails. There are many different trails that links to this so you can extend your hike and go a totally different way. The Indian Rock Camp is only about 1/4 mile into the trail if you take the entrance on the left that says "interpretative." Once you get to the sign you will need to explore the hill for the Rock Camp. Our kids had a blast exploring and looking for acorns to play with. There is also a small hut for the kids to explore. Further down the trail is a small creek and lots more trail to explore. We saw signs of a large herd of deer so if you are quiet you maybe in for a surprise.

I love this place because it brings everyone back to reality, letting us know that we were not the first ones here, and we will not be the last. Its a really neat little piece of history in a secluded patch of woods. The trail head is located at 34.287955, -117.212582, just walk east and you'll run into it. I'm pretty sure there is a map and sign there as well.

Green Valley has (small - around 3 feet high) falls and cool water to soak in. It is south of the main campground and the public can park there (I think there is a parking fee to get into the campground?) and 10 minute walk down to the falls. Really peaceful, and the amenities (showers/bathrooms) have been greatly improved over the years. It barely feels like 'roughing it'! My onlycomplaint, and it was a BIG one is the flying BUGS were buzzing/bombing me he entire trip! Some people's blood (MINE) is supposed to attract them more than others. Because I noticed other campers were NOT impacted. Bring a skeeter hair net or repellent. I went in September , Space 41. Oh! and wild turkeys came right up to my camp space! Cool.

Restrooms are clean with toilet paper and sink. Just no paper towels (take a hand towel) Stayed from 6/19/20 to 6/21/20 and all slots were taken but everyone was respectful to each other. Ground is dirt and bit not leveled well so do be wise to where you want to place your tent. One slot can have about 2-4 tents (depending on the tent size) we have 1- 4person and 2-2 people tent ... worked out great! Will definitely be back :)
