Some of the things we like:…read more -Lessons are semi-private, meaning there are only 2 kids in the class. -Classes are held in a private residential pool that is clean and shaded. -There are three different seating areas where parents/families can sit to watch the lesson. At least one area is always in the shade. -We work with Kale. Since he is also a school teacher, he understands how to be calm and encouraging, yet firm and disciplined. We have never had Anne as our instructor, but she handles the business end of it, and has always been friendly and organized. I think very highly of their character. -Students swim for the ENTIRE thirty minutes. They never waste time sitting on the step waiting for someone else to take a turn. ***This is very different from the large swim school we tried last year. The classes were so big that only 10-15 minutes was spent swimming. The rest of the time was spent sitting on the step waiting for the other kids to take their turns. - While the instructor (Kale) works with one child privately, he gives the other child an assignment or task to work on independently. Examples of independent tasks for a beginner: putting face underwater on the step to grab fish; wearing a flotation device to practice scooping; and using a barbell to kick from one side of the pool to the other. -The price is very reasonable. It only cost $10 more for a semi-private class here (only 2 students in the class) than a group class with 6 students at a large swim school. Worth it.

I had my reservations that anyone would be able to break my eldest of her extreme fear of water or my youngest of her timidity. But, with her patience and persistence, Ms. Paige had them enjoying the water in no time! We have been swimming year-round with her for the past three years. Not because my children haven't learned how to swim, but because the LOVE it! Paige is unique in that she teaches each child as an individual, working with their own personality style and skill level. Over the years I have seen her interact with many different children. She has a gift with special needs kids. She can accomodate unusual requests, like blending groups of swimmers so that siblings and friends can be in the same class, if desired. To me, learning to swim is as important as wearing a seat belt. It is a life-saving skill every child needs to learn. Ms. Paige will not only teach your child how to stay safe around water, but she will teach him/her to love swimming.

I have visited other swim schools in the area and there are none that compare to what we have experienced here. The facility has changing tables, hair dryers for colder weather seasons, private changing areas and single stall bathrooms for those potty training or parents! Our favorite part of the facility, apart from their amazing staff, would probably be the fish tank and the Bubbles toys they provide little swimmers (that they change the theme every month)! My daughter has progressed and gets so excited for the class every week! She is kicking, learning how to back float, and now can climb along the wall to get to safety & climb out of the pool unassisted. Appears all the exercise equipment on 2d floor has been replaced with same models just new ones. One needs to bring own lock for lockers or buy one from rec center. Too much to list here but do a Google search to review all the improvements made visible and behind the scenes (roof/HVAC/plumbing)

Meaning, they are pretty indifferent when greeting or answering questions about the facility. They don't really say hello until we do. I can tell they are just there to have a job, so it doesn't detour me, but geez. I can't imagine being the face of the facility, and having such a poor attitude. They are not mean or disrespectful, but it's like they just tolerate the paying guests that come in. Kind of like that new emotion on the Inside Out 2 movie. There is one guy that is friendly-I think he has reddish hair and glasses. There is another guy upstairs and the first time we went, he just stared my son down in the youth area for like the first 20 minutes we were there. My son is within the age range, but I guess the staff member wanted to make sure he didn't do anything wrong. I interacted with him a bit, and it seemed to break down a little bit of his mean-mugging vibe. He might try saying hello to people, because most people won't want to break any rules if it means disappointing a friendly guy that is in charge. The facility is cool. I suggest they get built in locks on the available lockers like they have at Carpenter Rec. I also recommend that management have a team building exercise or rotate the front people with other staff to give them a break. If you can get past the blah energy upon arriving, it's a really great facility.
