This used to be a decent place to stop in and eat after a flight but not anymore. The place is disgusting and filthy. You either slide on the floor or stick to it. The tables are dirty as are the seats. The bathrooms were virtually unusable. Trash cans overfilled and debris all over the floor. It looked as though the toilet seats had never been cleaned as they were coated with a black grease like substance. Toilets also had waste left in each one. The food was subpar and flavorless and we had to ask for dips for appetizers and dressings for salads. Service was also very slow if existent at all. Our drinks never got refilled and we had to go hunt our bill down after waiting more than 20 minutes once meal was completed. We found our waitress on her phone and literally had to interrupt her to get her attention. We will never return here again. read more

It was the only restaurant that was open on a holiday. My family used to got to Bob's Big Boy restaurants out west. I recall the food and service was decent. At this BBR the food was not that great and service was slow. Not a place for a return visit. read more

My family came to this place when passing by the Detroit airport. It was a nice stop, very clean and social distance well maintained, all the staffs wore face masks. We ordered Chili and Pasta, plus chicken wings as appetizer. The food was good quality and service was also top notch. We would love to come back here again sometime! read more

We are in town from Phoenix Arizona and had to stay by the Airport due to our early flight the next day. Even though we are from AZ I frequent Detroit once a year for Movement Music Festival. This trip we stayed longer than usual and really enjoyed the city. Usually when we stay by the Airport there are no standards or expectations so going to a "burger spot" we were not expecting much until we had Kayla for a server. Kayla is first off a hard working woman who takes pride in her job. She had all the answers to the menu and then some. I will be honest we didn't expect much from a Airport adjacent restaurant but got a whole lot more customer service than expected. Kayla cared. She saw that we had a long day of travel and just wanted to make us feel at home and she did. She had all of the answers and then some. What went from a short takeout order went to a full on restaurant stay because of Kayla. We enjoyed her energy and respect for amazing customer service. We literally dined in because she made us comfortable and at home after a long hard travel day. The food was good but Kayla made our experience outstanding. Establishments need to recognize servers like Kayla 100% it's hard working people like her that get people to return and talk about their experiences in places that just would have been in passing. I gave it a four star because... seriously this is middle of nowhere..there is not a lot of dining selections around where I stayed( Sheraton) not to mention the hotel only have one restaurant open and it's for breakfast only ,and it is overpriced. I woke up early and had nothing to do. Didnt want to cook but I wanted to eat. I work near here and pass by all the time . Posted on their outdoor sign it says weekend breakfast buffet . I love breakfast food , im hungry , no brainer , I figure ill stuff myself and it might at the most cost $15 bucks . Boy was i wrong . The food was old and dried out , the bacon, some was over cooked, some was under cooked, and it wasnt separated it was all in one big ball of meat . They didnt have corned beef hash, which was something i was really looking forward to . The sausage links had a bad odor to them. The taste wasnt as bad as the smell ,but their wasnt much taste to them , that might have been a good thing . The food that was out was barely warm . No toast . The breakfast bad area was quite small . So i figured at least it will probably be about 10 bucks . It was 16.99! Food was just ok. Server forgot to get my drinks, butter, jelly, and fruit. Had to ask multiple times for each item. At one point gave up on waiting for butter and walked to the prep area to ask for some. Went to Big Boy as a kid and was disappointed for sure. Other tables had someone getting them refills and ask if they wanted dessert. I was never asked about dessert just had the check put on my table and never received any refills on my drink. The Big Boy Restaurants that I favor are those operating under the Elias Brothers chain as opposed to Bob's. I like the Elias Brothers Big Boy Sandwich best. Everytime I am back in Elias Brothers territory I make sure I have a Big Boy. If you want Frisch's Big Boy do not go to Elias Brothers' Big Boy, plain and simple. **1.5 stars** This place is gross. My wife and I had a 3.5 hour layover and left the airport to meet friends at this dump. Service is SLOOOOOOW. I mean like 15 minutes to even come to your table get your soda order slow. Another 15 for her to come back with the sodas and another 15 to even take your food order...so 45 minutes gone before we even placed our food order. Btw, the place was practically empty so it's not like she was overburdened with orders. The food is not good at all and the restaurant could use a thorough cleaning. Avoid. Go to McDonalds or stay in the airport, they have lots of decent restaurants in there. read more

Great food and good variety! I recommend the breakfast bar because of the value. Your average meal will cost about $8-$10, so I found it better to just order the breakfast buffet because it has waffles, French toast, pancakes, grits, breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, biscuits, warm apples (to put over your waffles), warm syrup, a full fruit bar, a decent salad bar and a couple other things. Stayed at the Sheraton (nearby) and was hungry for a meal. I'm from the west coast and not familiar with the big boy chain restaurants. Pro's -Big seating area -Cheap Food -Good selection of American food with good desserts and a all you can eat salad/soup bar Con -Service could of been better I enjoyed my visit. I got the Big Boy burger with french fries. Good burger not great but decent. I also ordered a Strawberry milkshake. It was delicious, not to thick but no too milky, perfect amount. I also got a Strawberry waffle too. It was also good. Food came in a timely manner about 12-18 minutes after we ordered. I also came in a big group (6 guys) and they accommodated us quite nicely, also let all of us do separate checks which is nice. Waitress attended us good but wasn't really friendly. Ew. This is not the Big Boy (Frisch's) I have grown accustomed to visiting growing up in southern Ohio. This is a pale and strange facsimile. This is the airport food of the Big Boy chain. That's no coincidence, I guess, since it is off the same exit as DTW (Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport). I heard a server ask a guy at another table "Do you want an 'Ohio' Big Boy?" Do all of these places have their own take on it? Weird. So, I noticed that my favorite open-faced roast beef sandwich was not on the menu. So I ordered the Pot Roast instead, thinking it would pretty much be the same thing, except without the bread- right? I asked for a cherry rootbeer- which the lady did not understand at all. I just told her to go ahead and put cherries in a regular rootbeer. They know what I'm talking about in Ohio when I ask for that, but okay. Actually, they were the ones that got me STARTED on it, in Ohio. Anyway. They don't have the awesome pellet ice at this location either. Half the fun of coming here for me is the ice. I know that sounds weird. I added the soup and salad bar. That was the best move that I did all night. The Cream of Broccoli soup was good. Really good. The Chicken and Rice soup was just okay. The salad bar had a lot of really weird stuff on it that I wasn't about to try...but not a lot of options for actual SALAD. Strange. I was further disappointed when my entree arrived. I don't know why I expected pot roast would be meat. It looked like some kind of gelatinous soy cubes under a blanket of gel-ish gravy. Yikes. I ate a few bites of it and then played it off to the extremely sweet server that I had eaten too much soup. (At least I *was* full.) She convinced me to take it with me. 2 days later, it's still sitting in the hotel fridge, an unpleasant surprise for the cleaning staff... At least they didn't screw up the hot fudge cake. Not very much options around the airport in the early morning so decided to give Big Boy a shot because it had an Old School flare about it, plus the large "Big Boy" character outside was appealing. We also wanted to try something we wouldn't frequent very often coming from the PNW. I can say we probably will not be going back. The food came out mildly warm. You could tell that they had been sitting on the warmer for a while. The bread was wrong and came out soggy. The waffles was burned and so bad there was no way I could finish it. How do you burn waffles? Server was not very helpful either. When she came by the table to ask how everything was I let her know I was unhappy she never apologized of offered to put in a new order. Staff was friendly and engaging. We didn't have to wait too long to be seated, get drinks, or get our food. My colleague ordered onion rings with his food but when it was brought out with French fries, they gave us the onion rings for free. The burgers were well seasoned and tasty. I had the Swiss miss...I was thrown off by it having "tartar sauce" but it turned out to just be mayo and I had the brioche instead of rye bun. I had absolutely no complaints. $20 for the both of us.
