I'm not even kidding I had the BEST cheeseburger of my LIFE here. We weren't expecting to get lunch here originally but my parents, my sister, and my grandmother and her boyfriend wanted to check it out. I knew that I had the biggest craving for a classic American cheeseburger and I ordered one with a salad on the side. It was juicy and greasy and had the best sauce. It was everything that I ever hoped for in a burger and more. I live in New York City and no matter where I have gone, the burgers seriously don't compare. I also love the classic 50's look that they have going on in the restaurant to give it the perfect classic throwback vibe. Our service was also quick, and the host was awesome too. I wish that I could have gone back for another cheeseburger but there just wasn't enough time. I know that when I'm back in Michigan that I would try really hard to make it here again. read more

Incredible Big Boy (that I learned is a Southfield, Michigan chain and the Bob's Big Boy in LA is a different entity, look both up on Wikipedia) that has a full and nutritious salad and soup bar, a great menu with southern fried chicken and hamburgers, a very cool and spacious interior dining environment and spectacular service that is exceptional, highly attentive and periodically checks in on you. Food was mediocre for the price our server was great. She was all by herself. The place was clean and tidy. We had the buffet. The bacon and waffles were really good!! Everything else was meh! Not the Big Boy we remembered. Was $18 a person for the buffet. That was, in my opinion $5 too much. Anyway we will keep trying different breakfast spots till we find the perfect one. read more

Good hot breakfast that is served all day.. Convenient to the hotels near the airport, I highly recommend the strawberry waffle. It was light, fluffy, nice fresh strawberries and a dollop of whip cream. The bacon was nice and crispy. Others enjoyed their hash browns , link sausage and toast. The eggs were not that great to me. The place is clean and the service is friendly. Airport personnel receives 10% off. They had a nice buffet with salad and other fixings. Next time, I will try their famous hot fudge ice cream cake. read more

Just a place to eat close to our hotel. Service was so so. The Mrs had breakfast. Eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage and a biscuit. She wanted jelly for the biscuit but it took awhile to get our server's attention. Overall, she thought it was good. I had the turkey club. The bread was either over-toasted or it's because I saw it sitting under the heat lamp for several minutes or more before our server decided to deliver to our table. They were not overly busy either. The Big Boy Burger is legendary, and it tastes as it did when I was kid. 5-star Burger served with some crinkle fries, so good!! Service is awesome, my burger came out hot from the grill, fries the same hot from the fryer. I never have dessert, but when in Rome(ulus) do as Romans do. This dessert was so-good! Big Boy Restaurants have been around forever. I remember eating at them as a child. This was my first time inside one in a few decades. And I regret the decision I made tonight to try it again. The service was ok. The place was clean. That is the reason for the 2 stars. And that is where it ends for me. I ordered the soup appetizer (chili), and that and the soda were all that I could eat or drink. The turkey dinner was completely inedible. The veggies tasted like they were right from the freezer bag and waved over some warm water. The mashed potatoes and the turkey had a very strange flavor, and were covered in a gravy that was so salty I couldn't stand it. I will not ever go back to this location again. And I doubt I will make the choice to eat at other locations based on this experience. read more

Ate dinner here on June 10th. Kind of a nostalgic place for my husband as he grew up in California going to Bobs Big Boy. I had the patty melt and he had the double burger. Each was pretty good. Fries were hot and crispy. They seemed a little short staffed as the waitresses were running around kinda frantically. The restaurant is pretty old school and could use a little revamp. I feel bad for Big Boy. Loved it when I was a kid, then it went away where I live. So excited to be able to try one again after many years now that I'm visitong Michigan. It was really sad. There was no one at the "please wait to be seated" stand, so the counter guy told me to just grab a seat. Of course, none of the waitresses knew that I grabbed a seat, so I had to wait a while. Service started out okay, but slowly devolved. I got the soup and salad bar. Salad bar was unattended and hadn't been attended in a while. The "clean" dish and plate piles were all dirty. They all had bits of old food particles on them. Silverware was dirty, too. There were random used plates, sauce cups, and other strange things in the salad bar. Instead of a knife and fork in a napkin at my table, I received two forks, which speaks volumes by showing the complete inattentiveness of the staff where they fail at such a simple task. The soup was okay, the salad so-so. The mandarin oranges had gone bad, by the way. The waitress gave me the iced tea I ordered, took my soup and salad order, did come back once during my meal, but was never heard from again. Many minutes after I was finished with my meal, I had noticed that the waitress had completely ignored me at this point and was refilling the ketchup bottles and salt shakers. She was oblivious to the fact that she had a customer. And I mean A customer, meaning I was the only customer left. I guess even that was too much of a burden for the TWO OTHER wait staff that were there ignoring me as well, since they had maybe one other customer between them. Seeing that I would never get a check, I just went to the counter to hopefully pay my bill. The counter person found my bill, asked for the money, I paid with credit card, he gave me the receipt while looking the other way and dealing with some other customers that walked in. I walked away with the receipt, then as I'm walking out the door, he yells at my that he needs me to sign that copy. I tell him he should pay more attention to his customers, I assumed it was the receipt, as few places ask for signatures nowadays. Overall, a very sad experience. The employees could care less about the customers or the restaurant, which is why I'd bet big money that this location will be out of business within the year. Big Boy is in a death spiral now, which is really sad. read more

This was one of our food stops from our recent trip. Note this is not Frisch's Big Boy like the Cincinnati area where I'm from. It's simply "Big Boy" and with that being said there are some pretty big differences in tge menu. This particular location wasn't the cleanest I've ever seen but the waitress handled our large group reasonably well although there was some pretty long wait times for our food. I got the Handbreaded Chicken Tenders which was 4 pretty good sized pieces with a super delicious Nashville Hot dipping sauce. It had an awesome sweet and tangy flavour that really elevated what were average tenders. Not bad just needed a little extra flavour that the sauce more than provides. The fries were okayish and I liked the inclusion of a piece of toast here. Not the most glamorous thing ever but it was serviceable and filled my belly. read more

So we stopped by the Romulus location near the airport to grab a bite to eat. There were five in our party. We were greeted by our server Tara who was friendly and attentive. She was helpful in telling us about the menu. She made sure that everything was correct and if not she would take care of it. She came back several times to make sure that we were ok and if we needed anything. Great personality and service. Thank you Tara! My choice was the Garden salad. It was fresh and she added crotons upon my request. The vegetables were crisp. I requested extra dressing and did not have a problem getting it. The menu has lots to choose from and they have a salad bar too. I did not use the salad bar but it was well stocked. read more

I ordered 2x the Slim Jim that came with fries @ $9.99 Then a drink that apparently is $4.99 then I thought I ordered dessert that was French Silk Pie. But at the end I did not get the dessert. When I asked about it he said I did not get it. (Apparently they did not charge me for it) My total was $27.26 that was with the airport discount that was 10% off. The omelet was good but 46 cents more than price on the menu. I ordered a piece of apple pie and the top crust was doughy and raw. The waitress took it off my bill with no issues and I'm satisfied and would come back again. The waitstaff were friendly and the food came out quick. read more

We went on a Saturday night when they have a buffet. The salad portion of the buffet was good.....romaine lettuce, iceberg lettuce, cottage cheese, applesauce, three bean salad, pea salad, Cole slaw, broccoli, tomatoes, macaroni salad, etc. I tried the beef vegetable soup which was luke warm and tasted straight out of a can. The cornbread was dry and flavorless. The pork chops and fried chicken were dry and over cooked. The yams were delicious. There is no dessert included with the $12.95 buffet. You can pay $10.99 and only have the cold salad/soup portion of the buffet. The hot food is not worth it. It was worse than a college cafeteria. My friend had a mushroom burger and it was heavily seasoned with salt. It was juicy and served with fresh fries. The service was good. The mini brownie dessert for $1.99 tasted smokey like they had burnt the brownie. The ice cream and hot fudge topping was good. The restaurant did not look the cleanest. This Big Boy is well kept up.  The staff is engaged and lively.  We had a nice time stopping by after spending an evening in Detroit.  The salad bar was fresh and attractive.  The soup was hot and fresh. I tried the Ohio Big Boy with special Ohio Sauce, well, it was okay.  I was glad I had it.  The burger was freshly made and the multi-grain bun was tasty.  The root beer was fizzing like no tomorrow.  Of course the onion rings were top flight! I tried some cole slaw too - it was cold and creamy! The parking lot is roomy and kept up well.  The restaurant itself is in great shape.  They have a claw game at the door where you can play till you win.  Great stuff! Went back to Michigan for the first time in a while and of the many unique experiences one was having a chance to eat at Big Boy again. In fact, my wife had never even heard of Big Boy which is kind of amazing and sort of made me wonder about cultural references in general but hey she's pretty cool in other ways. Anyway, it was the best operated clean and wonderful Big Boy experience ever. First, the food was exactly as expected. Milky milkshakes and fried fries and even homemade ketchup. Pie was delicious as well and these guys even had tea options that were just your average bag of Lipton. But, the best thing about this experience was our server, Kenya. Kenya was just freaking awesome. So nice and service oriented. Incredibly attentive and even when they ran out of a couple things at 1 AM she was offering suggestions and ultimately we had a great meal because of her. Big personality, big heart and ultimately made our day. read more

Owner or Manager did not wear a mask the entire time I was eating at the restaurant. A customer loudly called him out and even said the cook was not wearing a mask (I didn't personally see the cook) This is outrageous as the unmasked owner/manager was helping to serve guests as they were swamped. Terrible service! I actually didn't get to taste the food. I'm sure it would've been good but I couldnt get past the rudeness of the waitress Trini. I was greeted and sat down wuicckly but nobody came over. I started watching the time once it seemed like I had been waiting too long. Another 7 minutes passed. What really got under my skin was when Trini (sp?) Came over I realized she had looked over at my table a coyple times while serving other tables so she knew I was there. At this point I was still hungry, already had plenty of time to read the menu a few times and was ready to order. She blew it!! Introduced herself and asked me if I wanted to start with a drink. I said that I was ready to order and had already been waiting for a long time. That is her cue to pretend she gives a crap. Nope. I get an "OKAY". I said nevermind, I think I'm going to leave. She said, "ok, have a good night (sarcastically) and huffs off. Now I see why there aren't many of these places around. Hopefully someone coaches that terrible server. First I would like say that my food was good and there is no major reason I won't return, BUT it never fails. The servers that don't write down the orders ALWAYS mess something up. The only thing I specified is that I wanted my Big Boy cooked well done. I was close enough to the kitchen to hear her say "Big Boy and fries." She either forgot or completely disregarded my simple request. The burger was still good but pink in the middle which is just not what I prefer. One thing is true. If you get a server that does not write down the order, at least one thing u requested will be ommited or wrong. In this case it was the only thing I wanted. Thank you Yelp for giving people a forum to express our thoughts. I did not make a fuss over this, but servers please, get your pen out. All humans are annoyed when u dont. This is your classic diner with your standard breakfast items that you can get very quickly. It definitely has the older diner look and feel, with all those things that you might find at your America's breakfast dine-in location. The food was hot and fresh, and the portions are generous size. The price is not too high so it is pretty good. Place could use a little more cleaning and touching up but otherwise not it was pretty good and I definitely will be back to eat again read more
