I was with a big group in the Wisconsin Dells and a few in our group mentioned at some point during the trip, they wanted to try Big Boy. If I could rate the food quality a zero, I would. This is based solely on the quality of the food, although our waitress was fine. Inedible fries (some still frozen and somehow stale?), onion rings you can't even bite through due to them being stale and old, and freezer burned meat. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money here. When we complained about our meals, all of which were basically picked at or untouched, we were told they could make us all new food, which we declined as we feared for our health. We were two of 4 people in the restaurant. Granted it was after Labor Day but the food was average, (the fries were good though) but service was slow. I'm not sure if our server was also our cook, so that could explain it. Seems like after Labor Day the Dells basically rolls up the sidewalks and prepares for next summer. I had apparently been at a Big Boy when I was really little but don't remember it. So when I saw this Big Boy in Wisconsin Dells....well....i knew I'd be getting dinner from here. Inside is adorable and like you're in a cool old diner. There are decorative Big Boy statues everywhere, and you can buy a bank or bottle of wine to bring home with you. I split an order of cheese curds, and if you're a blogger, can confirm you're going to get some epic cheese pulls out of the curds. My Big Boy burger was HUGE but tasty, I saved the other half for lunch the next day. The fries are perfection, especially dipped in ranch dressing, and you might as well kiss your diet goodbye and eat them all there, they are sooooooo good. I was stuffed or I'd have checked out their deserts as well, they have a 4 for $20 deal going on right now that looks amazing. Had high hopes as I had fond memories of eating at Big Boy in Kentucky when I was younger. This was nothing like the Big Boy we used to eat at. The decor inside was the best part. Old diner vibes. We went around 4:30pm and it was just us and an elderly man eating there. The staff seemed bored. Our waitress was friendly enough. The food was not fresh. My burger was a frozen patty. Husband and I decided to go to Big Boy while we were in the Dells because we grew up with them. I ordered the Big Boy burger with fries and my husband ordered a patty melt with onion rings. My burger was ok. The fries and onion rings were good and crunchy just the way I like them. Nostalgia,Nostalgia,Nostalgia! Boy this place takes me back to my childhood. I felt like I stepped back into the late 60's,early 70's.Wanted to try the one in Germantown, but they closed and moved to Sussex,so I was excited when I saw they opened one by our place in the Dells.Red vinyl booths and the Big Boy statues all over and a regular bar too(don't remember them having bars in the past) so you can have a beer or cocktail with your burger,and I did.My patty melt was toasted perfectly,just wish it was a little bigger.The onion rings were exactly like I remembered,crispy and tasty,and the dipping sauce had a nice mustardy taste to along with them.My wife's burger also reminded me of days gone by.Now that they're in the Dells,I'll have to try their shakes/ fountain items on our next visit. Customer service was simply ok and rushed, and the establishment is not busy at all. Establishment is located near the end of the Wisconsin Dells stores. First our waiter say the sliders came as is an no exceptions. They have a secret sauce that seems similar to a McDonald's Big Mac Sauce that is just to overwhelming and not making the sliders edible since the sauce cannot be added on the side. The sauce its itself is not greatest and I recommend ordering on the side. The Big boy burger was just ok and we were able to get the sauce on the side. The kids Spaghetti had a really strong taste of basil and oregano making it not edible since the spice flavor was overwhelming . The chicken tenders were extremely tuff to bite and not edible, and our table was not check to see if we can get a refill on our drinks. The best thing was the onion rings. On the inside there is lots of Big Boy merchandise, old posters & pictures & at least 10 miniature Big Boys in costumes! It's awesome! A counter top, booths & a few tables. Wife and I went to B.B on sept.13 2025. Long walk on the Strip. Atmosphere was nice. I had the Big Boy my wife had a cheeseburger. We both thought there was WAY too much sauce and it made the burger patty slide out of the bun. Our burger patties did not have the same taste as we remember from the past. We did get seated within 5 minutes of arriving there. Prices are a little high for us. Next time we go there we are going to have the sauce on the side. We dined with 2 other couples to try out the restaurant. Two people ordered the fish fry which we were told came with 4 good size pieces. What they got were two pieces of fish about 3" In diameter. Another one ordered the country chicken dinner and the chicken breast was the size of a small thigh and the mashed potatoes were terrible. The burger was cold. The only good dinner was the chicken fingers which came with 4 good size fingers. When we asked the server about the fish, she was told by the kitchen that they ran out ( it was 5:30 pm). Apparently when they run out they take 1 piece of fish and cut into pieces to make an order. The manager discounted the meal resulting in $5.70 discount off of the price of $18.99 for the fish fry. Absolutely the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. I was genuinely excited to try Big Boy, but that excitement turned into immediate disappointment the moment I walked in. Every single table was filthy, leftover food, crumbs, trash, just sitting there while one person tried to handle the entire front of house, and one cook struggled in the back. We waited 15 minutes just to be acknowledged and seated, and another 45 minutes to get our food. Mind you, there were only THREE couples in the entire place, and every single one of us was complaining about the ridiculous wait. When the food finally came, it was cold, unappetizing, and to top it all off there was a long hair in my burger. I asked to cancel my order because at that point I was completely disgusted, and they told me I couldn't. Seriously? I've never felt so disrespected as a paying customer. What I was charged for was: Best Cheeseburger on the Planet, No side, No tomato, no red onion, no lettuce, no mayo, no red relish $15.99 PLUS Fried onion .75 That's $16.74 for a single basic cheeseburger with no fries. Are you kidding me?! My Big Boy with fries was only $12.99 I should've said something while there but was in a hurry. Needless to say I will never come back nor will I recommend Dells Big Boy to anyone. And, although the online menu says they serve breakfast, they don't. My sister was a waitress at an original in Wauwatosa in the 70's and the food and ice cream, malts were so much better. But, it was nice for the nostalgic touch.
