This restaraunt has been a family tradition of mine for a long time. It's been a while since we have been here so I was excited to try it. We got the taco pizza, it was not great, I've had better taco pizza. The rest of the family got a pepperoni pizza, it looked like soggy cardboard cheese. I think a Jacks frozen pizza looked more appetizing than that, they shared a piece with me and it didn't taste great. We got an appetizer of the fried pickles. Best fried pickles I've ever had. Man oh man this place is bumping! We went for dinner on our first night there and as crowded as it was, we waited no longer than 15 minutes for a table. I am a huge fan of MooseJaw, and while I am not in the Dells frequently if I am in Madison I make the drive up to visit MooseJaw. Service is always friendly and the food great. I really enjoy the pizza specifically. But, on today's visit I noticed something very disappointing- they are not calculating tip suggestions correctly and I don't know if this is new or I never noticed it before. The universal standard is to calculate tips on the pre-tax amount, as you don't tip on government taxes. However, some businesses, which appear to include MooseJaw, are dong the unethical practice of calculating the tip amount on the after-tax total amount in an attempt to squeeze a little more money out. In fairness, we are not talking about a lot of money here, but it's sneaky and wrong for someone who already plans to tip a generous 20% for example which is what I typically do, and they are actually tipping even more. I really hope they change this deceptive practice. And adding in the fine print that you are doing this doesn't make it okay as people don't read this. When they see a tip suggestion, they trust it's accurate. Food and service are amazing, but this unethical practice should stop. read more

We visited here twice during our stay in the Dells. Both times the service was excellent. The atmosphere was fun, and the food was very good. The pizza was nicely cooked and seasoned, and the bratwurst was really good - Probably the best one I've ever had in a restaurant. We came here for the breakfast buffet on a weekday. This was our first time eating at this restaurant but upon entering there is a LOUD clanging sound. It was 3 loud clangs every 45 seconds for the first 10 minutes of our visit. The food was okay. Some items are definitely better than others. My daughter thought her waffle from the waffle bar was good. The biscuit for biscuits and gravy was very hard. I appreciated that they had fresh cut fruit. My son picked up a plate to use at the beginning of the buffet line and it had crusted food stuck on the bottom of it. Lastly, they need to reconsider where they sit patrons during buffet hours. Having people sat at tables that are right along the buffet lines makes it a less than pleasant experience for those sitting at the tables as well as those who are walking/ squeezing by to get their food. read more

Our experience at the moose jaw was atrocious. PJ's service was some of the worst I have EVER had. I have been a bartender and server for over a decade, so I have quite a bit of patience when it comes to service employees. However, the service we received, or lack there of, was beyond unacceptable. When we ordered drinks, we ordered an appetizer. We waited for over an hour and did not receive said appetizer (or any food at that matter). We watched as tables around us who came long after us received appetizers and entrees and there was still no sign of our appetizer. We were repeatedly told by our server that the kitchen was working on it and that it was coming. He even said, "The kitchen has the bread in the oven." However, after over an hour we asked for the manager. It was only then that we learned that they were out of the appetizer we ordered. Under normal circumstances, no big deal. After over an hour without being told, ridiculous. Beyond that we sat with empty glasses for 10-15 minutes without being asked if we needed another round/refills multiple times. We moved our glasses to the end of the table to signal that we wanted another round and nothing. Each time we would have to flag him down while he avoided eye contact with us. It felt like we were begging for service. The manager we spoke to was polite and gave us an appetizer on the house. We appreciated that, but given how bad our experience was, I believe that a discount on the bill was in order. She apologized for the experience and we appreciated that. However, what we did not appreciate was that PJ made our experience quite poor and not once did he apologize. That would have gone a long way for us. It was very evident that PJ was new (he had to ask other servers for help with some basic modifications) and that he was struggling with the system. He clearly was not ready to be on the floor by himself. When you are paying over $100 (after a comped app and a coupon) for dinner, it really sucks when the service is so poor. I would recommend to the Moose Jaw that PJ spend a bit more time in training so that other families don't have to have the experience that we did. We had been planning on coming back for breakfast during our vacation, but I don't think we will be revisiting the Moose Jaw any time soon. If you go, make sure PJ isn't your server. The tables in other people's sections seemed to have a great time. I truly wish I could have said the same. read more

We recently grabbed a couple large pepperoni pizzas for takeout from Moosejaw Pizza, and while there was a lot to love, there's a little room for improvement. The crust was a perfect pan-style, incredibly thick, and pillowy soft. Knowing they make it from scratch every morning explains the fresh, delicious texture. My only wish was for more consistent pepperoni toppings, one of our pizzas felt very sparse on our large pizza- some of the pieces ended up with just 1 piece of pepperoni. Ate dinner here while in The Dells. We stopped in a bit later maybe an hour before closing time but we weren't turned away or anything so assumed we were good. I understand it was towards the end of the night, but our server had the worst attitude. From us sitting down and getting our menus and taking our order, he almost seem bothered. We ordered two kids meals and a pizza for the adults to share along with a side of tater tots. Everything but the tater tots was good. I think we got the last available of the tater tots because they were cold. They were hard and you could tell that they had been sitting out for hours. The only good thing is when I did let our server know he didn't charge us for the tater tots, but again seemed really bothered by it. I understand things happen. It gets busy and maybe you just wanna go home but you're also working with the public, so maybe having an attitude with your customer isn't the best way I likely wouldn't even visit again when going to the dells. read more

Our waiter was friendly and was efficient in taking our drink order and when he returned quickly with the drinks took our food order. We startedwith the spinach artichoke appetizer that came with well seasoned taco chips, carrots and celery. Very tasty. We ordered2 pizzas. One was a specialty premium pizza and the other we built ourselves. We opted for the thick crust and thick it was. A bit too thick for me but that I went with our group vote. One piece filled me up because of how much crust there was. It was good pizza. The atmosphere completely fit the Moose Jaw name. Very outdoorsy and cute. Definitely a good place to bring younger kids. My family went back as to rekindle childhood memories since they are adults now. They even wore the paper moose ears that they give out! read more

A classic if your staying in the Dells area. Really is an all age restaurant. They have bars, the brewery, restaurant seating, an arcade room and more. An adult twist on tap root beer which we all drank growing up, now just with actual alcohol. It's hit or miss with servers, some are great and some just mundane. read more
