I've stayed here a few times and have always enjoyed it. This stay was no different, but I couldn't help but notice someone's charcuterie board, Beer bottles, and dirty napkins from Saturday night we're still sitting right where they left them Sunday afternoon at 2:30PM. This area is adjacent to where the morning coffee is located so there were staff members walking around here all day who were simply too lazy to clean up this mess. I noticed it this morning at 9am and was definitely surprised to see it all still sitting here undisturbed 5 hours later. Where to start. Not 5 minutes after we get there, the cops had a man cuffed right in front of us. Check-in was great and that's pretty much were it ends. The rooms are so-so. The beds were terrible. The frame of the bed is above the way way to soft excuse for a mattress. I've stayed at Motel 6 rooms with better beds and for way less than $400+/nite. We were going to dinner at the top of the pyramid's restaurant. We asked several times if we needed reservations and they said no. We get up there with several other families and it was a free-for-all to get seats with views of the river. Then, the staff finally comes out and says we have to have a reservation and that they would have to seat us. They had to seat us, not by where we wanted to sit but where they could even out the tables to the servers away from the view. They were pretty snotty about it the entire time. The quality of food looked great, however, there was a serious lack of taste/flavor, especially for the price. Shirt and tie price for school cafeteria taste. We wanted to get bottles of water, but all of the vending machines were out so I had to goto the bar. $4 ea for the same 12oz water you can get from 7-11. The staff, except for the bartender in the bowling/pool alley had the attitude that it was the guests that were there for the staff and not the other way around. You are required to have valet parking to stay there. We were charged $20 for valet and $20 for parking. We used it but, the next morning when we checked out we find that our vehicle was "broken into" as well as the couple who were waiting behind us. I say "broken into" as the truck was left unlocked by the valet. The back window was kicked out from the inside as all of the glass was resting on the bed cover. Basically, the staff told us this happens all the time and by using the valet parking that we are required to use, we use it at our own risk. Go visit the Bass Pro Shop but forget about the Big Cypress Lodge and the restaurants there. It's just purely not worth it for the price, the comfort, and the attitude of the staff. I'd give it zero stars but that's not an option here. read more

I didn't stay here, so this review is only for the atmosphere and the observation deck. SPOILER: I was surprised to find that the pyramid is a shell, and it's not completely a hotel like the Luxor in Las Vegas. (It makes sense that there wouldn't necessarily be a need for so large a hotel here, but I was operating on a flawed expectation.) The ground floor is the Bass Pro Shops, a faux cypress swamp (with real fish and ducks), assorted entertainment activities, and a restaurant; the second floor is more shopping, more entertainment activities, and hotel rooms; the third floor (I think) is more hotel rooms. The observation deck - glass decks on two faces of the pyramid - are cool, with nice views from 28 stories up of downtown Memphis, the Mississippi River, and Arkansas across the river. The restaurant on the observation level looked fine. To me, visiting the deck(s) was well worth the $8 ticket, although the slow line to buy a ticket and go up the elevator on a weekday afternoon was frustrating. read more

Big cypress lodge was my favorite hotel in Memphis. But this recent trip completely changed my mind of this place. The rooms are big and beds and very soft. Now whatever you do friends. Do not stop at the blue green vacations Kiosk in the middle of the store. It is not a questions center they are trying to sign you up for a time share thing. Me being young and really didn't know what I was signing up for, I would not wish this 2 hour seminar on my worst enemy. It's sad when you love a place and you just want to enjoy your time there with out people using tricky selling tactics to try and sale you vacation timeshare things. read more

Everything was great...until a staff member started knocking and banging on our door at 12am waking us up. There was no phone call made to the room so we were suspicious of who would be knocking on our door at this hour and didn't answer. (Do not disturb tag was put on the door as well). After about 5 minutes the staff member tried to enter our room but the safety lock prevented her from coming in. I phoned the front desk and asked what was going on...they said there was a mixup with rooms and were checking to see if anyone was in the room. (At 12am...) We were tired from traveling all day and just wanted to get a good nights rest. This was a huge inconvenience to us and do not feel was worth the high premium we paid to stay in the room. read more

When we found out we were going to be staying in Memphis, we KNEW we had to stay at the big cypress lodge pyramid. We just didn't realize how expensive it would be. For two nights we paid around $900. That includes $20 for parking and $100 for resort fees. We stayed in an interior queen double bed suite and I will say it was beautiful. The room just seemed so luxurious. The bathroom was quite large with double sinks, an oversized jacuzzi tub, and a rainfall glass shower. The room had very comfortable beds, an electric fireplace below the TV, and a balcony overlooking the bass pro shop. We were welcomed with a basket full of snacks and two cold waters in the fridge. My one complaint about the room so that the pillows were too soft, so I woke up with a lot of neck pain. I genuinely have no words for the bass pro shop. We were absolutely stunned at all of the water features and wildlife. Whilst staying at the hotel, you get passes to enter the express lane and ride the elevator to the top for free. The views at the outlook at incredible. We did want to go at night and we barely missed the cut off time of 8:30, which was a bummer. The staff were all incredibly kind. I loved that I could click a link on my phone to request our car from valet. The $20 for parking is for if you park or if you valet, and we wanted our car to be in the fenced and secured valet lot. Valet was kind and available 24/7. Our bellman Chris helped us into our room and he was very wonderful. He was very gentle with our bags and incredibly friendly. For checkout though there wasn't a bellman, so we used the cart ourselves and they are super hard to steer. Whenever I went to push it forward, it felt like the whole thing was going to snap. I understand why they're designed to look like logs, but they definitely are NOT sturdy. Overall, it was nice and we had a great time. I just don't know how feasible it is to stay here more than once. read more

We got 3 rooms and spent a weekend with friends. The service was phenomenal!!! The staff truly want you to enjoy your stay and they do everything possible to make that happen. From the complimentary valet service upon arrival to the delicious home made cookies with the turn down service. The staff was always happy and smiling (not just the front desk, but the housekeeping team too) the rooms were very comfortable and luxurious with a cabin/spa feel. Jason was awesome from the time he brought our luggage up to the rooms to when he shuttled us to our concert (and took us by the beer store on the way) We enjoyed lots of time on the deck patio watching the bridge under the cooling misters. This place has it all! Good food, drinks, rooms and amazing service. I don't usually write reviews, but these guys worked hard to be sure we had an epic weekend, so this is the least I can do. Big Cypress Lodge is EXTREMELY difficult to work with if you are planning an event / seminar. And, they are slow to respond. You can't call one person to arrange the meeting room, catering, and group room rates. Not a positive experience. read more

This was our first and sadly our last time staying here. We thought it would be really fun to stay here but we're mistake. The rooms are dark. The room has a cabin feel with all the wood decor. The bathroom has a little wall sconce above the toilet that you hit your head on sitting there. We turned the jets on to the tub and black particles came out all over the tub. To make matters worse, there was a hole in the ceiling above the tub. The staff did not act concerned at all when we told them. read more

I should have read the recent reviews... First, valet was nowhere to be found. Once inside, the receptionist was kind, the room was beautiful, and we loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the balcony, but that's the extent of the positives. There is a plastic cover on the bed so if you're a warm sleeper AT ALL be prepared for the worst night of sleep ever. A thin sheet over a plastic cover makes for a miserable night of sleep. I have nothing positive to say about the restaurants. The Lookout only takes reservations (would have been good to know), but upon arriving there I'm glad we didn't schedule one. People constantly walking through the tables to get to the lookout is distracting. Don't waste your time or money on Wahlburgers. Tiny, overpriced burgers that don't even come with fries. Also, don't buy drinks here. The manager was rude and although the restaurant didn't close until 9, she decided to close early, as we arrived at 8:30, "because the kitchen was behind". She finally agreed to seat us since my daughter couldn't sit at the bar, and we were served. We expected a wait, since the kitchen was SO busy, but we received our food quickly and we're rushed through our meal. At 9pm, the televisions and music were turned off and we were brought our ticket. Guess we're done. Took it to the room to finish eating. Once in the room, we attempted to call the front desk, concierge, housekeeping, and even the main reservation number. Nobody answered. Guess we didn't need help after all. Overall, this is a very pricy hotel for what you receive. You're paying for a view. That's all. Most hotels of this price range have excellent customer service, extended service hours, complimentary breakfast, and options for food after 8:30 - or at least a place to purchase a coke. This one has none of those things. We won't be back. read more

Our plans were to stay one night but we liked it so much we stayed two nights. The room was a good size, the decor was unique, clean, and relaxing. We bowled, ate good food, and enjoyed the relaxing environment. I would recommend Big Cypress Lodge to family and friends Our one complaint was the woman at the front desk on May 25th (pm shift) was not friendly. I asked where I could purchase more treats that were placed in our room basket and her response was "I don't work at Bass Pro Shop so I don't know." My husband also went to the front desk around 9pm to ask if a water refill station was available and she said they don't have a water fountain but she would send up 3 water bottles. The water bottles were never delivered!!!!! I don't know if she didn't like us or is she was incompetent. read more

I have no clue what's going on with this place. I called for rates then called back to book ten minutes later and was told I was required to book online. To book online would have been $125 more than the price given over the phone. I called back and was given a different rate than the first two. We've decided to go elsewhere. read more

This is my third stay here for a work conference we have every year, and I love it every time. Not only is the hotel totally sweet and incredibly, but the entire staff, from front desk to house keeping to maintenance could not possibly be more helpful and accommodating. And they always have huge smiles on their faces which automatically makes you smile back no matter what kind of day you've had. The rooms are all made to look like little rustic cabins. Some are slightly larger than others, but all are pretty good size. They each have a mini refrigerator and a fake fireplace that looks pretty realistic without giving off heat so you can use it for ambiance even in the dead middle of summer time. The tubs are GINORMOUS and could easily hold 3 people (although I'm not exactly sure why you'd want to, but I'm just saying...). The showers have an overhead rain shower head with fantastic water pressure that feels like a Swedish massage every morning. Plus there a bench seat built into the shower that comes in real handy when you have to shave (you ladies know what I'm taking about ;). And the beds.... Gah! The beds are So comfortable! I want two of those pillows so bad but couldn't figure out what kind they were. So management, if you're reading this comment, drop me a line and tell me where I can buy them. That would be awesome! :) There is a welcome gift basket upon your arrival with popcorn, a couple bags of chips, sour patch kids and two bottles of water, but more can be purchased from the Bass Pro Shop downstairs. And every night they deliver fresh baked Mississippi Mud cookies to your room that are the bomb. There's also a screened in back deck off each room with a table and rocking chairs, so you can unwind at the end of a long day or just sip your coffee in the morning. It's pretty peaceful. And it overlooks the entire Bass Pro Shop below but not in a weird way like you're inside a mall or anything. It still feels like you're in the outdoors. And the privacy screen keeps people from seeing you. There's also plenty to do. There's a bowling alley downstairs with an underwater theme. I'd you're brave enough to take the 300 foot elevator up to the top of the pyramid, there a great restaurant and bar, and also the observation deck where you can see all of downtown Memphis. It's really beautiful so it's worth the ride up. They also have a courtesy shuttle that can take you just about anywhere you want to go in and around Memphis. Jeffrey is one of the drivers, and he's great. Okay, I've rattled on long enough. Long story short, excellent place to stay! Fun for the whole family, but also perfect for a romantic getaway for two. I am reviewing the governor's suite. It is a two bedroom with a den, all with their own keyed door. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom, as does the den! Never seen a shower in the den. The bathrooms in the bedrooms are full size, with double sinks, separate jacuzzi tub and shower. The shower is big enough to fit like 8 people! There is a fake fireplace in the bedrooms, a desk, tv, closet, and fridge. There are high ceilings everywhere. The den "wallpaper" looks like bark. Lots of mounted heads on the walls with antler chandeliers. There is plenty of sitting around a gas fireplace. The dining table sits 8 and is all wooden. The kitchen looks more modern and is big enough to cook if you feel like. Water and snacks are complementary and are in each bedroom and the den! I thought it was just gonna be in the den. I would definitely recommend this place, especially this room if you feel like spending the money. read more

Meh. So... this is a really cool place if you're into hunting and fishing, or outdoor life in general. We stayed in a treehouse suite, which was decorated beautifully and had a cool porch with table and rockers overlooking the store. Also, lots of vintage gear all around, as well as some pictures detailing the history of the pyramid. Pros: nice location. Great staff. Fridge in room. Deep tub. Huge shower. Double sinks in bathroom. Cozy robes. Comfortable outdoorsy decor. Cons: expensive. Tub jets were more 'shark attack' than relaxing. Beds were more for show than comfort - up really high with rustic headboards - looked nice, but uncomfortable to sleep in or sit up in. Had to pay extra for parking and a resort fee (for no pool and dodgy internet!) which felt super-gouge-y after already paying so much for the room. We knew all the extra fees going in, so no surprises there, but still not happy about it. Overall, was an ok experience, glad we tried it, but wouldn't go out of our way to go again. read more

EXPENSIVE! YET (Surprisingly) IMPRESSIVE! I've been in Bass Pro & asked myself: "Who would want to stay here??? It's a store!" Well ... I was impressed! There really is a big resort hotel in here! Unnoticed on the retail side, I walked down the halls just like a hotel! There were all the amenities of a big hotel. We stayed in a "Duck Cabin" & it felt like I was in a cabin in the woods! Really nice! No stuffed-horned animals watching you in this room -just lots of ducks! There's comfortable, large sitting areas, a bar, workout room, etc. We stayed on a Sunday night. Slightly cheaper on Sundays -but Bass Pro closes early and elevator to the top, restaurants, etc all close before 7 pm. When sitting on the porch OUTSIDE our cabin/room, you overlook the inside of Bass Pro. Even though it's closed, it's like looking inside an empty mall. The lights stay on, country music still plays on the speakers, fish are swimming, etc. (you still hear that "mall noise"). WEIRD! It's still overpriced (like all hotels are) -so I won't deduct a star for that. It's not very close to Beale, FedEx Forum, etc. Even with the trolleys, I would not want to stay here if I was carless -but then again, there's always Uber. Pros: + Really Impressed! Very Nice Hotel & Room! + Staff was very helpful & friendly. + Big Goody Basket filled with treats in room! + Big Bathtub + Huge (I mean HUGE) Shower + Big, Cozy Room with Gas Fireplace + Big Porch/Patio with Rocking Chairs & Tables overlooking inside Bass Pro (empty on Sunday Nights) + Clean (Rooms, Lobby, hallways, etc.) + Bar stays open late in a cozy open lounge setting + The Lookout (Top of Pyramid Restaurant & Balconies) has spectacular views of the city. $10 fee is waived for guests + We received The Lookout elevator vouchers (since a Sunday night check-in) + Hotel has many amenities: Spa, Weight Room, Conference Rooms, etc. (But I still don't view it as a "resort") Cons: - EXPENSIVE! - Resort Fee - Parking/Valet Fee - Activities (like bowling) are premium priced for unique experience - Not walking distance to downtown - Restaurants In Bass Pro are NOT Renown for their great food. I wanted my husband to have a fantastic experience on his mini vacation while traveling to a college football game with a friend. At first I made the reservation for two nights, but learned that his friend needed to be home Sunday. Within the 72 hours, I requested a change to one night. I was denied. The customer service representative said to tell them "wink wink" that one of them was sick. That didn't work either. The restaurant is pricey and gross. My husband said his steak cost $58, did not come with any sides, was overcooked, rubbery and full of gristle. The customer service in the retail shops are rude and do not know anything about what they are selling. My husband got so sick from dinner he vomited. The famous snack in the room is two bags of stale potato chips. Room service breakfast took over an hour for toast and tea. read more

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and we can't wait to come back. We both actually live in Memphis, about 10 minutes away so it was definitely a staycation. I am the outdoorsman of the couple, so obviously there was appeal to me, but I was really happy that my wife enjoyed it so much. The room was great, very luxurious in a lodge feel to it. My wife took full advantage of the air tub during our short stay, and she now wants one for our house. I was afraid that the lodge vibes might be too much for her, but it was pretty tastefully done. We really enjoyed the patio, and had several drinks on the oversized rocking chairs. We took an Uber to Flight for dinner, which was super close and convenient. Once we got back, we enjoyed the "fireplace" and got a good nights sleep. We did get room service breakfast, which was just okay, but I believe the restaurants were changing in Bass Pro during our stay so I hope that will improve. Overall we would definitely recommend it, whether you are looking for a staycation or a guest to Memphis. read more

Best 5 star hotel in the area! We love sitting out on our balcony and drinking a bottle of champagne while we watch the tallest in-door elevator in the world go up and down. We love the high water pressure showers, the giant tubs, and the soft pillows and mattress. We come at least once a year and love this place! read more

This place is good. Fresh cookies every night at turndown. Cold bottles of water every time you get your car from valet. Free water in the room. Free bags of popcorn in the room. As many rides as you want up to the top in the elevator. In general just a really good hotel. From someone coming from big metro areas (Philly and Washington DC) I will never get used to everything closing early on Sunday. The restaurants in the hotel close at 7. I didn't read the info in the room but the guy at the front desk didn't mention Sunday hours, and I was remembering what he said. Room service closes at 8. Again, the woman at the bar for the hotel guests told us 10, so we hung out for a while only to get back to our room and find out it was 8. So just pay attention to the times if you are used to places being open all the time. Also, you can't walk to anything from this place. Make sure you have a car. We walked to the Big River bridge but it was 3 miles. We went to Arkansas and back, then Ubered back to the hotel. The one other thing I didn't like was the no windows in the hotel. It was like nighttime all the time. We had a balcony that overlooked the store, which was really cool, but after a few nights there it wasn't cool anymore and I would have loved to see daylight from the room. All of those negatives but I still gave it 4 stars cause it is a cool hotel. The rooms are cool, the atmosphere is cool, and if you are an outdoorsy person, it is cool. I would stay here with kids again but if you are here with adults, stay near Beale street. If you have kids it doesn't greatly matter since you can't take them on Beale street in the evening/ dark. We were excited to try the indoor camping experience. The staff is friendly. The rooms are lovely - comfy beds, great views of the Bass Pro Shop, bathroom with rain shower and soaking tubs. However, the price is not worth it. There were no microwaves in the room. There is no breakfast included. The rooms are $500.00 per night with a nasty surprise of $21 for parking. The parking charge is especially unfair because there is plenty of parking. You must pay for parking even if you don't want to valet. This property is poorly managed because more people would stay if the price was reasonable. It's a lovely hotel but not very over priced. read more

We visited the glass elevator and the Lookout twice since the tickets are included with your hotel stay, we went up at night to see the Mississippi Bridge lights. The rooms are very nice, and extremely well furnished. The bathroom shower is the best ever! If you're a hunter or outdoorsman - or kid - this can be great fun for a family trip. read more

My husband realized he had left his wedding ring on the kitchen sink after we had checked out. We promptly called and was informed that the ring would be put in the mail that day and we should receive it soon. After 3 weeks multiple phone calls and messages left, still no ring. I talked to someone named "Christy" today who informed me that before he can get his ring she needed a credit card number. She explained that the ring would not be mailed unless I gave the credit card number. She finally explained that the credit card number was needed for postage which would be a $2 charge. Had I had known that 3 weeks ago this entire situation could have been avoided. Very poor customer service. read more

If you have a bad back, you will not sleep and leave needing a chiropractor appointment. The ghostly thin TP is what it is. Should they fix those two things, it be hard to beat. We just stayed here two nights with our kids. I'll get straight to the point with pros and cons: Pros: you're staying in a cool pyramid in downtown Memphis near everything cool. The pyramid itself is a point of interest/attraction so you're killing 2 birds one stone. Lodge is walking distance to the trolley. Trolley is only 1 dollar to ride and will take you to the Peabody hotel, Beale Street, civil rights museum, etc. The lodge also offers a free shuttle to anywhere within 5 miles which we did utilize and was very helpful. We took the free shuttle to civil rights museum and then just took the trolley around town and back to our hotel. The rooms and scenery are decorated to make you feel like you're deep in the dark woods and it was awesome. The rooms were sparkling clean, updated, and the beds comfy! Definitely choose a balcony room or you'll be sorry. The elevator to the lookout is quick and fun. We stayed out enjoying the sun and weather for a while. You can see view of Dolly Parton bridge and the city. Every night they bring you fresh baked cookies to your room! So good. There are two restaurants, a bowling alley, shopping, a fudge factory, arcade, etc there. We bowled a game and it was fun! Oh also the gym was great! I worked out once. The 3rd floor is a complete circle so it's good for walking laps. Cons: the food is basically over priced cheap/mediocre fast food/bar food at Uncle bucks. We never ate at the lookout so can't say. The service was unorganized at best. We waited a long time for food. The restaurant was always dirty. One of the waitresses sat our appetizer plates down, realized there was food on it and brushed it off WITH HER OWN HAND. Amazing Amazing Amazing! Best hotel stay I've had! We had a suite and it did not disappoint! Spacious bathroom with jetted tub and gorgeous shower, large living room and a very comfortable bed! My husband and I slept in both days because of how comfy! The workers are all so friendly and knowledgeable of the Memphis area and they made our anniversary special. We got a small cake and card and cookies each day! The bartender on the third floor lobby was absolutely wonderful! She made us comfortable and gave great suggestions. The porch overlooking bass pro is neat too! And they had movie night for kids on Saturday night! We didn't go because we didn't have our kids but it's a great place for adults or families! No complaints here!! We will be back! read more

Not a good experience. We are visiting family in town and we decided to have lunch here. Salads were drenched in dressing, missing ingredients, and the portions were like a side salad. The two stars are for the service and the amazing view. Hope you guys can improve the kitchen. read more

Stayed there May 9th-13th. Beautiful rooms. Large with very large bathrooms. Great restaurant at the top of the pyramid! Most of the staff were very good and helpful. One of the best features was the limo service that would take you anywhere in the city you wanted to go and pick you up when you were ready to come back. This was complimentary and greatly appreciated with a tip!!!! The 3rd floor lounge was very nice. The person working the evening we went there could use some training. Never waited on us. We had to go up and get our own drinks, napkins etc. They were not busy so there was no excuse. Great place to people watch and would stay there again. read more
