Big D helped Jump Start my car when it wouldn't start after I came back from a trip. The person arrived within the hour of calling, jump started it. My biggest appreciation is for the fact that I had to call them back within five minutes after I stupidly pressed the stop button and the car wouldn't start again. They came quickly, started it and didn't charge me for the second time. I called this towing company because someone parked in my assigned space, and I just wanted the car towed. I'll admit I was frustrated when I called, but the person on the phone was extremely dismissive and rude. They told me that the towing sign in the parking lot "is only there because of the law" and that they can't actually do anything--it's just there for people to call. So what's the point of even having the sign or their number listed if they won't help when someone takes your space? Absolutely useless and unprofessional. The management was closed, so where would I park? Horrible customer service and very unhelpful. If this is how they operate, I have no idea what they actually get paid to do. It's a Friday night so there are guaranteed to be many people parking in spots they shouldn't supposed to. These guys are HEROES! The front end of our car went over the edge of an embankment, the frame resting on the top of a concrete block retaining wall. The first company that came out wanted to just drag the car back onto the upper level. It was clear they really didn't know what they were doing and would cause substantial additional damage to the car. Big D came out with a lift truck and a flatbed and skillfully raised the front end, sliding the flatbed under the car so it could be driven back onto the upper (parking) area. They saved me untold damage to the car, likely thousands of dollars, and I was amazed at how (relatively) little they charged. read more

After waiting for hours for AAA to show up, I called Big D towing. My car was broken into at Northgate Transit center garage. The thieves broke my rear window and completely dismantled the ignition. I was told by AAA they probably wouldn't be able to get my car out of the garage due to the low clearance. This was a their way of saying they were not coming. I had an excellent experience with Day & Nite towing aka Big D Towing. I had a nightmare scenario of a car would not restart on the Seattle- Bainbridge ferry and could not be driven or towed off since the steering lock was jammed and the steering wheel could not be turned. With a couple of calls at short notice, Kevin met the ferry at a pre-arranged time in pouring rain and got me off the ferry top deck with a wrecker tow truck (flat beds are too tall) and then took me home. These guys are great! I called two minutes before 5pm on a Friday and they answered! I managed to get my car stuck on top of some jagged cement rocks, for lack of a better description. The man on the phone was super helpful and understanding with my dilemma and quickly dispatched my distress call. A quick 25 minutes later I see the tow truck, he happily turned in and was personable right off the bat! Todd got everything situated quickly and lifted my car up right off the rocks and backed her up nicely into the roadway again. Easy peasy! Exceptional. Talk about making the best out a bad situation. My car stalled out in the middle of I5, when a state trooper got me to a safe exit. At that point I needed to call someone! Dispatch was on top of it. I had a returned call and they left a message in confirmation in a moment I couldn't get to my phone. Great follow up. Kevin came to the rescue and made great time. He was really nice and incredibly time efficient. I was pretty shaken up after having to move over 4 lanes in wild traffic with no power steering or brakes. My car was stolen (black Honda Civic) and was impounded by Big D towing. Instead of alerting the police that they have a stolen car in their lot, they chose to hold my car for 4 days to rack up storage fees. My tow went from $257.21 to $804. Seattle police stated that they are required to look at the plates and alert police if they have a stolen car in their possession, but instead they held the car and sent a letter to the house (which took days to come) to get a hold of me. The person who let my car out the lot was a friendly guy though and so was the person who answered the phone. read more

Kevin helped me out the other day when I had a flat tire. Nobody ever taught me how to change a flat before, which I mentioned to him. I'd give Big D and his crew a million stars if I could. My boyfriend and I decided to hit Taco Bell on the way home from our friends around 2am. As we just finished ordering our food, all the lights on my dash went dark and I could not get my car into drive. I tried to restart it and found that the alternator had failed and (conveniently...) got stuck right at the taco bell ordering station while there were about 8 cars lined up behind me all ready to get their after-hours munch on. Luckily the people behind us were so hungry they pushed my car into a parking spot and I called Big D. He answered right away and got a tow truck to my location in less than 3 minutes...3 MINUTES PEOPLE! The tow truck driver was extra nice and asked if I wanted to try jump starting it in case it was just the battery. Sure! Anything to keep the costs low. He jumped my car and it started up again, I thanked him and gave him a tip and he left. Right after he left, I tried to put it in drive and it died again, this time we knew for sure it was the alternator. I called Big D back and the tow truck driver turned right around in less than a minute. We decided at this point it was time to tow her home. He carefully strapped my car and hooked it up. My boyfriend, me and our box of tacos got into his truck and went home. He was very friendly, kind and funny, so we shared our box of tacos together (it was a nice moment in a stressful situation). We made it to my house and he helped push the car into the parking spot. I am so thankful for Big D and his crew. They have saved me time and time again with my POS cars for a very reasonable and affordable price. To the people who have obviously left horrible reviews simply because they are angry their car was impounded, take responsibility for your own actions and don't park illegally and pay your bills. I'm super weird about having my car towed... I usually insist on riding along I called yesterday with dumb questions and the lady who answered the phone was super nice and answered all my questions and made me laugh. This review is long overdue. On the same day I wrote poor reviews for Ballinger Towing and AAA, I neglected to review the company that salvaged my day - Big D Towing. My car died dramatically and unexpectedly on a drizzly September Sunday afternoon on I5. AAA didn't have the manpower to dispatch a tow truck in a timely manner (4 hours!), so they told me I could contact another tow truck company. I called Big D based on their reviews, and I'm glad I did. They gave me an estimated time of arrival and honored that time. The driver was a very friendly guy. There was no damage to my car from the towing gear. Hopefully, I won't need another tow for a while, but I'll keep their business card handy just in case. Needed a 15 mile tow from downtown Seattle on a Sunday night following a brake line failure. From phone call to hook took maybe 20 minutes, maybe. While no one wants to pay for a tow out of pocket (why did I drop that coverage again?), their price was absolutely reasonable and got me and the patient home with no issue. My gf contacted this company on a Friday night because she locked the keys in the car. We were in shoreline when this happened. They send an older man in one of their trucks the man was complaining since he got there how he brought the wrong tool how hard this car is to unlock. It was raining and we just wanted to get home. The man was frustrated and said to call someone else that he was going to take off. Really? I was mad myself we had been outside over one hour in the rain. The way he was ok with just leaving was not cool. He didnt say ill get another truck out here to get it done. I told to stop complaining and do his job. He got in my face with a crow bar. We exchanged somewords and he got in his truck and left. Do yourself a favor dont hire these folks if one of there tech is this way most of them must be. From the minute we entered the door, the attitude was unnecessarily aggressive and threatening. I didn't catch his name, but the guy with the beard started yelling at us, using excessive amounts of profanity and gloating about how dumb we were to have parked in that spot. Additionally, they also mentioned that they basically ripped us off by $100, as if we had come back in the morning rather than right away it would have been less. He wouldn't let us though because he had "started the paperwork". Also, they never mentioned that up front of course. License to steal. They make me wait an hour and a half... All for a simple jumpstart. Even the driver commented that he didn't know why they didn't call someone else in to help me. When they finally got to me the guy was at least nice, but they charge WAY too much. 75 dollars for two minutes of work? Really? I work minimum wage. That's essentially about seven hours of work for me. When I brought this up the only thing the guy would say was "it easily could have costed 85 dollars". I needed my classic car moved and was really worried as I've had some bad experiences with other companies handling it in the past. These guys were amazing. They called ahead, showed up on-time and treated my car like it was there own. I don't want to call out the names in the review but the two guys that showed up were polite, professional and really set me at ease. They made sure they let me know what was happening at every step of the process and took as much care at unloading as at loading. They even hand pushed the car to where it needed to go in the lot. If it was possible to attach a police report and give less than one star, I would. My car had been towed from UDistrict, and I took an Uber to retrieve my car. I provided this (highly unprofessional) man with ALLLL my paperwork, but he refused to have anything to do with me. I was polite and respectful, but the cops who came later and I realized it's because he was being incredibly racist. I have never had this kind of interaction before that I felt so unsafe- that I had to call 911. The cops came, they looked at my paperwork and demanded he release my car to me... I would never ever ever trust this company with your car. I asked for this mans name and he refused to give it to me or the cops because he didn't want his supervisors to know. I hope they see this. I was involved in a serious car accident in which both vehicles were totaled. Big D Towing came minutes after the police called them. The guy operating the tow truck was friendly. I was traumatized by the accident, so I didn't have the presence of mind to ask him how much it was going to cost to tow the car and then to keep it on their lot until I could find an organization to take the car. (I finally got Cars for Kids--the Make a Wish organization--to take the car as a donation.) Days passed, and I finally went to the lot to clear my possessions out of the car, and to tell them that Cars for Kids was going to take the car away. They then presented with an itemized bill for about $1,500. I was shocked. Only then did they tell me that the cost of the tow was about $350, and then they charge $75 PER DAY to keep your car in their lot. NEVER were any of these costs mentioned to me beforehand--or even when they called to ask when we were going to get the car out of the lot. I think the guy who initially towed the car told me to "not worry about the costs" because insurance would cover them. Whether this is true or not (it turned out NOT to be true for me), the tow truck driver should have told me, clearly, up front, in no uncertain terms, exactly how much the tow could cost, and then that it would cost $75 per day to keep the car at their lot. I would have moved heaven and earth to get the car the hell out of their lot more quickly than I did. It is absolutely the responsibility of the tow truck drivers and other company staff to let customers know BEFORE the car is towed exactly how much all of their services will cost. When they presented the bill to me, I wept. Despite the good service I got here, I feel that I was misled, critical information was kept from me--and I wondered whether this is the company's policy. Do they tell their employees to say nothing about the costs unless the customers pointedly ask? Do they believe that withholding information from customers about costs will serve them better because customers are unaware of how much they are being charged per day? Hey, maybe this works with each customer ONCE--but I will never use them again. I feel defrauded. read more

these guys were very upfront about the price and when I asked if I moved a tire on my van to the front would it would save money they acknowledged that it would. I wasn't quite finished by the time they showed up so they let me borrow their Jack which was far superior to my scissor jack. My van weighed more than expected but the driver soldiered on despite having perhaps less control of his vehicle than desired. After all was said and done the total was far less than I expected I think it was $80 for 3 miles but this 66% less than what somebody else was quoting me so I suspect that these guys are straight shooters. Since I was in a commercial vehicle the driver asked me if it was for a business and when I said yes he said that if I had a resale certificate he would not charge me tax. This guy was all around very helpful and definitely deserved the $80. I tipped him $30 for being such a swell guy and will definitely be calling big d towing if the city of Seattle does not fix our pothole problem and I get two flats again. read more

We had a dead battery at Gasworks park and called Big D Towing for a jump. The guy, Tony, said it would be about an hour. I agreed (but groaned) and he told me to hang on for a second. He was able to re-route one of his guys who was heading out to a different job! Super speedy. It's never great to need a tow truck but the professionalism and customer service focus from Big D will make them my choice in the Ballard/Fremont area. read more
