They answered all of our questions promptly and even brought up planning details we hadn't thought of, which helped us feel prepared and confident. The tasting event was also a fun and memorable part of the planning process. One thing that made the planning process easier was how much The River Club had available for us to borrow, including items like cake stands, easels, table numbers, and other helpful details. These small touches saved us time, money, and stress. They also allowed us to drop off a lot of our decor weeks in advance, which helped us feel more relaxed leading up to the big day. It was clear from the beginning that their team was not only experienced, but also truly invested in helping make everything smooth and stress-free. On the day of the wedding, everything exceeded expectations. As soon as I arrived at the venue, I was greeted by the full staff, which was such a warm and reassuring way to start the day. Weddings can be overwhelming, but they made me feel like everything was under control the moment I walked in. The communication between The River Club and our vendors was seamless, and they executed our vision perfectly, better than we could have imagined. Our bridal party was also very impressed with the bridal suite. We loved being able to use both the indoor and outdoor areas for photos, relaxing, and spending time together before the ceremony. It was a great setup that made the day even more enjoyable. The venue itself is beautiful. It is just 10 minutes from the Scituate Lighthouse, a popular and scenic location for pre-ceremony photos. The space feels unique and open, and many of our guests commented on how nice it was to have room to walk around, mingle, and enjoy both the dancing and quieter areas. The bar area was also a big hit, with plenty of space for socializing. If you are considering dessert, we highly recommend the Grand Finale. Our guests absolutely loved it, along with all the food throughout the night. Neither my partner nor I enjoy country music but that is typically what is played during the dinner hour of weddings we've attended. We voiced this concern to Sara and we were so pleased to have a variety of music played during the dinner rather than country. Sara was extremely flexible as I threw a couple last minute changes at her the day before the wedding and she had everything in order. During the set-up, ceremony, and reception she was extremely professional and attentive but she also looked like approachable and like she was having fun. We had music from a variety of genres, decades, and tastes. It was so much fun and people were dancing the entire time. Afterwards, I had guests saying that they were so impressed by the music selection and that they had an absolute BLAST the entire night. Since I only gave Sara 10 must play songs, that credit is totally to her talent and knowledge of the music and the crowd. Guests immediately seemed to feel at home as they came into the room. The staff was very efficient in preparing the buffet brunch, including both breakfast and lunch choices, as well as accommodating guests' food needs. Our meals were delicious. We especially enjoyed the variety of choices including salads, vegetables, breakfast rolls, quiche, fresh haddock, and chicken piccata. More than a few of us returned to the buffet for seconds. Your Instagram and earlier communications promoted a DJ in the main room; in person the manager told us "there is no DJ on Friday nights anymore," yet a follow-up email falsely claimed the DJ was sick. What should have been a $300 celebration turned into roughly $700 because of repeated upcharges and surprise fees. Staff admitted they don't warn you when it's time to leave the room so they can charge extra. The bartender told us the shots package included the blinking "birthday" sign and it was shown on the menu (I photographed it). Later staff insisted the sign is only for bottle purchases -- contradictory and dishonest. Multiple karaoke/YouTube apps failed during our booking. Staff observed the problem but provided no working alternative. Karaoke was the main reason we booked. Security allowed at least two bottles into the venue at entry and didn't notify the host or intervene. Cameras recorded the entry but staff took no action during the event, then charged us a $100 retroactive fine afterward with no clear explanation. The manager was rude and offered no resolution. There was zero hospitality from staff. We drove an hour and paid for a special night that never materialized. I won't recommend this place for events until management stops nickel-and-diming guests and starts treating customers with basic respect.
