Tried this place 4/9/22 while visiting my oldest Uncle on my dad's side - Big Lui, who lives a few miles away in Hemet. He'll be 84 in July and two years ago at a wedding he told me that nobody visits him in Hemet, they only visit family in LA. After making the trek from Anaheim, I see why nobody visits. I'll live it at that. Uncle Lui kes fish so my wife found this place. It is a cool little BBQ location with a drive thru. We got there right when it opened around 10am and were the only customers at that time. Met the owner, a Banning transplant of 8 years, and was a really nice guy. The menu is pretty extensive. I went for the platter - 4 oz. Each of pulled pork, pulled brisket, bbq'd chicken quarter - leg and thigh, 2 pork ribs, served with 2 slices of bread, pickle and pepper. Here's the breakdown: 1) pulled pork was really moist and flavorful with just enough seasoning and a hint of smoke. I'm Hawaiian and am used to Kalua pig and this was really good. Hawaiians use heavy Hawaiian rock salt, it is saltier than this but he had enough salt that it was fine. I could have just eaten that. 2) brisket was OK - I preferred sliced - it wasn't as moist as the pork. I love a god Texas-style brisket and I recognize that it is difficult to find. I could have done with out it. 3) chicken was cooled really well but it was lacking a little seasoning and did not appear it was too fresh. But it was pretty good. 4). Ribs - to me, this was the star of the show - cooled to perfection - super tender but not mushy - stayed on the bone. Some places are overcooked, others not cooked enough. These were on point. Seasoned well and covered with their home made bbq sauce. At first, I thought it was too tangy for my taste but as the meal went on, It really complimented the the meat and by the end, I was in love with it. The ribs were some of the best I've had. I smoke my own ribs and they were better. It came with baked beans and potato salad. Both were good, beans on the sweeter side, tater salad on the mustardy side. 5). Last but not least, catfish - I got the 12 piece for Uncle Lui, and they were excellent. Seasoned perfect. They were cooled perfectly too. The ribs and catfish were the best. I promised my Uncle I will come back and when I do I'll stop by and grab me more ribs and catfish. They have beef ribs too, I'll try those next time. If, by chance or luck, you find you're way to San Jacinto - go eat at Big Daddy's, you'll enjoy it! read more

We wanted to try a new bbq place. we ordered the pick 3 with corn and cornbread and side orders of mac and cheese and potato salad. The meat portions were very small for a plate that cost $20. The chicken was good, brisket. The pulled pork was tough and very salty. The bottoms of the corn bread muffins were burnt black, but the top halves were ok but a little dry. The macaroni and cheese was very good, I would definitely order it again. We couldn't eat the potato salad, it was way to salty. The food quality has gone downhill. Before the food was decent, not great. Now it is horrible. A few months ago, I ordered beef ribs and they were burnt, dry and tasted like jerky. It was shredded up and served in a cup that had a CRAP load of bbq sauce. It was disgusting. The ambiance.... The ambiance was fine and I don't really have anything to complain about. My girlfriend and I decided to try this place for lunch today. The hours say they are open 10am to 6pm. We drive up, just saw a car leave the drive thru and the smoker is going, walk to the window and there is a "closed" sign. We decide that maybe the walk up window is closed maybe to covid, so we pull into the drive thru. Another "closed" sign, so we decide to just go home. We decide to call around 5pm to see if anyone is there, they answer and confirm they are open. We drive over and are immediately getting attitude from the guy at the window. Some guy wearing a hoodie with tattoos on his hand. Very rude and sounds like he is being bothered having to work. We order two of the #3 combos, brisket sandwiches, one with ""homemade" mac n cheese & potato salad and the other with mac n cheese & fries. We saw several photos on here and Google of the brisket sandwich and they look loaded with meat. In total, our sandwiches were probably 80% bread and 20% meat. I literally had to remove the top bun just to make sure there was actually meat on there. The meat was pretty bland and lacked smoke flavor, which is odd considering it is cooked on a smoker. The meat also seemed to be cut with the grain, not against, wish added to the toughness of the meat. To me, the mac n cheese did not taste homemade at all, it taste more like blue box. The fries were pretty bland also. The only decent thing we received was the potato salad and the Dr. Pepper. Would not recommend. read more

It was HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!! DO NOT GO!! I ordered a full slab of ribs. They were old, dry and we could not chew them. We spit them out back into the tray! When we picked up the ribs to eat them, many of the ribs were very hard and dry like jerky. The few I was able to bite into were old, rubbery, and greasy. I was obviously given overcooked, old ribs. We spit them all out. After I tried to eat them, but couldn't, I called and was transferred to the "manager". She asked me to bring the ribs back to them and they would give me fresh ribs. (We could hear people laughing in the background as I was describing to her the condition of the ribs) I drove 15 minutes across town and once I got there, she said she would not replace the ribs because I ate most of them. This is not true. I brought back both trays of ribs which included the ribs I tried to chew. The ribs were so dry and tough I COULD NOT eat them! I spit out the parts I tried to eat. She apparently is a liar and she never intended to keep her word. She took the ribs from me, put her fingers in them, lied and said I ate them, kept the ribs I PAID for, said she would NOT replace them, and KEPT my money! She STOLE my money and kept the food!! Big Daddy's is very unethical and they will serve dried ribs that you cannot eat and will do nothing to make things right and STEAL your money!! I have eaten there before, and enjoyed the food, but I will never return and I will tell all of my family and friends not to eat there either and what they did. I have always promoted this business, I have catered large events with their food, people from my job have gone there because I have recommended them, but they have lost a loyal customer. This was my very first visit to Big Daddy's BBQ. I had asked coworkers what the best rib place in the area and was told that Big Daddy's BBQ on State and Ramona Expressway was the place to go. I'd seen it many many times before but just in passing. This time I looked up the menu and thought I'd decided what I wanted til I pull up to the drive thru and see banners for other deals including the beef tip fries. This was perfect for me. The fries were well made and the beef tips were delicious. It was the perfect ratio of meat to potatoes and that doesn't go unnoticed by me. You have to order at their window and they'll more than likely have you pull around to park and wait for your food. It's totally worth the wait. When I ordered they offered a deal on beef tips for only $5 that I couldn't pass up. I'm so glad I got them! Now I don't have to cook for tomorrow either! I'm definitely going back soon. The wait wasn't long at all after ordering but it does take time to cook to order. It's a small parking lot with maybe 6 spaces in it so make sure you go when there's not a massive rush.
