Aquarium Marketplace is a food court and shopping mall that opened in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1992. From 1964 through the mid-1970s, the property was actually a real aquarium known as the 'Provincetown Marine Aquarium'. It was owned by business partners Donald Gleason and John M. O'Connor. The aquarium's star attractions were three bottlenose dolphins named Jackie, Lady and Lucky. The entire property was converted into a small mall in 1992. Today hungry patrons can discover a wide variety of different cuisines including fresh local seafood, gourmet burgers, Chinese food, Tex-Mex cuisine, Jamaican food, baked goods, coffee, ice cream, and waterfront cocktails. Tenants have come and gone over the years, but "Fortune Cookie" (Chinese Food) has been around since the mall first opened. The whole complex is currently owned by business partners Benjamin DeRuyter and Bruce MacGregor. My family and I visited Aquarium Marketplace on our recent week-long trip to the Cape. We spent the third day of our trip entirely in Provincetown. When dinner time approached, we decided to head to the marketplace because they have so many different cuisines to choose from. We first stopped at "Native Cape Cod Seafood" (open since 2011). I decided to have the "Shrimp Tacos" (with rice and beans), my wife had the "Fish Tacos" (cilantro lime aioli, with rice and beans), and sister-in-law had the "Hot Buttered Lobster Roll" (with hand pressed fries). All of our seafood dishes tasted so fresh and delicious. We also stopped at "Big Daddy's Burrito's" (open since 1995) and got our son a "Cheezy Bean Burrito" off of the Kid's Menu. He really enjoyed it! We love how there are so many different cuisines to choose from at Aquarium Marketplace and we'll continue to visit on future trips to Provincetown! read more

We picked up an order of burritos for some handheld sustenance during a sunset cruise and the burritos did not disappoint. The no frills stand is simple to find, a breeze to pick up, and they really take allergies (and the humans who have them) seriously. It's why we visit every year. Me and the gf just got some amazing burrito bowls! I got the saucy chicken burrito bowl with creamy salsa verde, and she got the saucy tofu bowl with peanut sauce. They're very different but equally delicious. Additionally, the service was incredible. Our bowls took maybe 2 minutes to be prepared and the woman who cashed us out (I believe is the owner) was bubbly and extremely welcoming. We will be back on our next trip!! read more

I know it's a Ptown burrito in a food court, but I've had great burritos from carts and being able to sit overlooking the harbor by Aqua Bar is an upgrade from most food courts, so I got over my misgivings and gave Big Daddy's a try. There was no line, but now I know why. They don't offer carne asada (grilled beef) on their regular menu, but they did have a steak burrito special, so I tried that. I got it with everything, include sour cream and guacamole. It was decently sized, but the steak was cold and the inside of the burrito was basically mush. And the real kick in the teeth was the fact I paid $22 before tip for that burrito and a can of root beer. Lesson learned. read more

The best stop you can make before taking the ferry back to Boston! I enjoyed my pulled pork burrito as I sat in the front of a fast ferry riding into the sunset. He was right, but he didn't warn me that they'd be bland. The twin tortillas were served overlapped in a paper basket with the toppings of fish, diced tomatoes/salsa, lettuce and cheese on top. Kind of a mess to eat - grab a fork to make it easier. $5.95 We shared the chips & guacamole for $5.95? - cool and creamy, with chunks of tomatoes, but not very flavorful. The chips came in two colors and added some much needed salt, however, so I used them instead of the tortillas that came with my taco, and kind of made my own fish nachos of sorts. There's a nice area out back where you can sit and eat as you look over the water and are serenaded by the music wafting over from the nearby club. If you need to clean up some, you can ask to borrow the bathroom key, which comes attached to a plastic lobster. read more

This summer seems to be a challenging time to find a basic easy breakfast in Ptown. Lots of places didn't have food they normally do likely to the difficulties they are having getting help. So, I ended up with a soft taco from this place. I am sorry to say I wouldn't recommend it. The food was not great quality. I was aware of the mall and the site of picnic tables was the clincher for me to grab something quick from here while my brother got us something from the next door Chinese place My big daddy (sounds so funnnn!) fajita salad was Good. Again, the die-hard lover of Mexican food inside of me was yelling and screaming at me as I was ordering the food while I had a Crystal clear view of the open kitchen behind the counter and all the cooking action that was being handled by 2 twenty three year old (guess) boys from the Midwest, meticulously fixing customers orders. No no no no no - this was not gonna be Mexican food I kept telling me. But in the very same moment i started singing "Let it go. Let it go!" (In my mind) My salad had some of the freshest greens (75% of the takeout plate) I have had in a salad in a while. The chicken was grilled fine. The 2 slices of green and red grilled peppers each were good too. The 3 colored tortilla chips decorated around a 2 table spoonful of definitely house made guacamole was the final touch. Oh, not to forget the soft fajita that was split into 4 parts and came hanging from the 4 corners of the boat shaped party plate. I was yearning for some kickin heat. Because I cannot eat bland make believe Mexican food. I walked in and asked the lady at the counter for some very hot sauce. And then there was magic. I was presented with a tiny plastic container that had a red sauce. What I could taste with my salad was a serious dose of dangerous red hot habanero sauce. Indescribable goodness. Made my night. And set my tongue on heavenly fire! Everything on their menu looked fairly simple and straight forward. And since I could see the kitchen from every angle, I knew the food coming out of it would be safe. They should change the theme of the joint from Mexican to something more original. Wow! My boyfriend and I were mosey-ing ptown after a long car ride and came across this little taco place. Let me tell you the woman working there was extremely hospitable! She made us laugh and you could tell that was her genuine personality. Aside from that the food was AMAZING! I got the pork tacos while my boyfriend got a chicken burrito and both were amazing. When they ask if you'd like to pay extra for guacamole you best say yes or you're missing out on some amazing stuff. The habinero salsa was also really good. Went here for lunch to grab a bite to eat since I was craving Mexican food. This place opens up at 11:30am. We arrived shortly before and had to wait until 11:30am to order (which was fine, but just something to note). I ordered a chicken burrito with ginger curry sauce. The burrito itself was decent, but nothing special. The chicken unfortunately was a bit too charred in my opinion and left a bit of a burnt flavor in my mouth. I did enjoy the ginger curry sauce and the whole meal was pretty light, even in the burrito form. My friend got a bowl, which looked like a great option as well so I might try that out next time.
