I was looking for a place with good salads and this restaurant came up on my Yelp search. Due to the high rating (4.6) I decided to give it a try. The place is set up like a casual restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. When we walked in they had their radio set on a Christian station praising all kind of Christian ideology for all to hear. When we walked in, the lady behind the counter just looked at us with no welcoming smile nor attitude. I said Good morning and I got a slight smile from her. I then asked if they had any diabetes friendly items on the menu....She said...I don't know what that means ????!???!?! How can you work in a restaurant and not know what diabetes is ??? I then said, items with low sugar content. She still said, I don't know. So I decided to order a salad. Their Basco Salad was described as a bed of fresh greens and a nice Lomo on top. The salad came up fairly quickly and it was delicious. The boneless pork loin was well seasoned and warm. The greens were fresh and well balanced. Price $65. A tad bit expensive. All the food was great. Fish was hot and tasty. Burger special was one of the best I've had. Coleslaw was just right. Cashier was friendly but not to friendly. Went here because nothing was really open down the cape. We walked into the restaurant and were not greeted by the lady at the front desk. We asked of we could sit anywhere. The lady, short brown hair classes older, told us in a condensing voice you order here. We ordered Fish and chips and the smashed avocado salad. Service time was pretty quick. We watched while we waited for food. The cashier, lady who took our order was rude to another gentleman who came in asking for a job for her daughter. She answered NO!! The guy tried to justify his question saying that his daughter was 14 years old and maybe that was too young to work. The cashier explained it was the winter and they barely had any customers. I read that other people had issues with other races. My wife is Hispanic, every other person was of caucasian race cashier was reasonably nice but never smiled or looked thrilled to be there. Just before we finished our food a younger worker took over the cashier position. My wife went to use the bathroom and I asked the new cashier is that lady the owner. She responded no just someone that's worked here for a while. I responded well she need to leave. read more

If you are on vacation and the wife wants to go for her fourth consecutive night of seafood but others in your party could do with anything *but* seafood and Nana is complaining that she hasn't had a salad in four days then Basco is the place for you. Broad menu with lots of choices including seafood, burgers, chicken, salads, wraps, you get the idea. Food quality is excellent. Lots of menu items with a cajun flair and tasty variations on standards. Kids said the burgers were perfect. The Basco sauce was a hit. Batter dipped fries, yum. What a great restaurant! Very creative food choices, fresh and beautifully prepared. It's so nice to have a huge selection from a chef who obviously loves food and isn't burnt out instead of the same old standard choices that are in hundreds of restaurants. We had the shop Po Boy, that was loaded with shrimp, a great salad with grilled thinly sliced pork on top. We also had the Brussel sprouts wrapped in bacon and the avocado stuffed with shrimp salad. They has a butternut bisque that was the best we've had in years. We always order lots of things to try as many ideas as we can. Probably needless to say, but we took a lot home. So glad that a good restaurant is now at this location, as the Lunch Box fell off a cliff a few years ago at least. I had to do takeout due to COVID but the food was wonderful and the staff nice. Stopped here on a whim looking for something decent to eat. When my husband and I pulled in, there were no cars and we hesitated...I am so glad we went on in! A good option for tasty sandwiches on the Cape. Two of us got the "Rooster" chicken sandwich with bacon jam and cheddar cheese. A massive sandwich, large perfectly fried breast. Nice flavor, perhaps a little heavy handed on the jam. I love spice but I'd ask them to scale that back a bit next time. The service was very friendly. The sandwiches took a little time but probably because they are made to order, not fast food. I'm curious about their other offerings so I look forward to visiting again. read more

Fantastic food!!! We took a day to play while we were on Cape Cod. Headed east from our condo and stopped at libraries for their book sales, antique malls, Chatham Pottery (be still my heart!) and found a windmill built in 1797. By that time we were hungry. Oysters in Wellfleet were our target. But, thanks to it not being "season" that was not to be. We finally pulled in to what looked like a lovely spot only to find the tuna salad in the refrigerator case looked brown and the fish wasn't sufficiently iced. We quickly retreated to our car and headed back down the road. This was the first place we found that was open. It'd have to do. And, did it ever. I had a lobster roll and cole slaw. My hubby had a sandwich with chicken and chorizo with pasta salad on the side. Everything was spectacular! Cole slaw is probably our most frequently ordered side. This was if not the best, in the top five ever. The pasta salad had SO much flavor. My lobster roll had nice chunks of lobster in a delightful mayo sauce with just a hint of tarragon. We assumed the gal behind the counter was the owner since she was so friendly and working so hard to make sure everything was done correctly. We will absolutely be back! read more
