My son took me here while we were in onalaska. I was very skeptical. Was greeted very promptly. I had several questions on their menu items and our waitress was wonderful in answering. I ordered the pork skins after the waitress assured they were fresh cooked in house. I am very picky about them. They arrived and were delicious, still popping. My preference would be ask for extra seasoning. But they were wonderful. Then to order a burger, I usually dont order burgers from somewhere new. My son ordered a special burger they have and he loves it. I got the Cheeseburger and it arrived and was hot and delicious. The service was great and the food was delicious. We arrived within an hour of closing one day. Extremely nice staff and even the people eating dinner were friendly! We started with an amazing appetizer that that could be a meal in itself. If you like corn, cream cheese, bacon, and jalapeños wrapped up in a ball and fried, served with ranch, then you'll love the cowboy bites. We all had burgers. I had the icehouse special with everything and fries. An excellent burger. The fries were also top notch. Most places you get one or the other that's good. Here, both are going to finger licking good when finished. My wife had the pork and greens burger. Almost got that. I had a bite or two. We both loved it. She said it was so good, she wanted to come back the next day and get another and she's not a burger person. That came with sweet potato fries. I usually don't like these, but they were completely finished as well. My wife loved them and I would get them instead of fries as well, if I wanted the change. My daughter had a stripped down icehouse burger with fries. Nothing was left. It's a nice cozy place inside with an outside area. Very interested in trying the loaded wrapped hot dog. When we first got out of the car, there is a very strong dead fish stench. I'm not sure if it's because of the bait and tackle next door or because it's across from the lake. I didn't really love that but maybe not something they can help. We brought our two year-old with us and they did not have any high chairs so we had to hold him the entire time and had to get the stroller out of the car so we could eat. Don't love that either. It can't be very expensive to order a few high chairs. I think that's ridiculous. The drinks are cans and the cups are red solo cups so don't come here expecting anything fancy. They only have burgers and fried food. I was wanting something green like a side salad. So don't go there expecting anything like. The only saving great was the burger was delicious. We recently moved to the edge of Livingston and Onalaska, and were looking for the nearest friendly watering hole. FOUND IT! The owners - the Peacocks - are really kind and welcoming. The bartenders match their energy. Service 10/10. The awards they've won among east Texas and Polk county are well deserved. Patty put some credits on the juke box for customers to pick what they wanted. It's an old school juke box that fits the environment. Albums were in Classic country, Motown, red dirt genre. Amazing beer selection and awesome bar food (burgers, fries, fried pickles, etc.). The "icehouse special burger" was so good! We're looking forward to our next visit. read more

The owners are a delight Mr. Ken and Miss Patty along with her staff Miss Jennifer. On a lazy Saturday afternoon we were looking for a great place to have lunch and this was recommended to us by a local staff in Livingston Texas. We were pleasantly surprised it was a cool vibe, with a lake view and easy-going staff. We ordered the cheeseburger and fries basket. We were pleasantly surprised that it was locally grown grass fed beef. This made a significant difference in the quality of the burger and we truly enjoyed it. I just got a spot out on Lake Livingston Onalaska at the RV park next door, so I thought we would try this place out. I didn't think they would have any good food because of me judging by the name "icehouse". BOY WAS I WRONG. These are honestly the best burgers I have ever had. I host a large Meetup group and after looking through the patio photos and reading reviews, decided to pick Big Fish Icehouse for our lunch time meeting spot before going to Lake Livingston. It wasn't crowded and our group fit well on the front patio. When we arrived, I had my dog as I didn't know it was "service dogs only." Our waitress immediately came up to me and rudely said "That dog has to go." I understand rules are rules but she was incredibly rude about it. My husband went to a different place with our dog. Later on, a smaller dog arrived at another table on the patio. I inquired why that dog was fine because he didn't have on a vest or anything and she was clearly happy to talk to the couple about their dog. She said he was a service dog and that they had called prior to ask the owner if it was okay. I have never heard of anyone calling ahead for something like that and most service dogs are required to wear some form of identification. I then fount out from another member of my group that this waitress accused my dog of jumping on her as the reason we couldn't keep her on the patio - which wasn't true at all. This restaurant wasn't busy at all and I brought in 20 patrons for Saturday lunch. I don't appreciate the rude behavior, lying about someone's dog jumping on them, or the picking and choosing of which dogs are allowed. 0/10 recommend. The service was slow and the staff was not nice. We will not be coming back. read more
