We stopped for lunch while in town doing some shopping at the local antique shop. Menu items were the usual items that you would find in a small town cafe. The salad bar looked great and we plan on having it on the next visit. Today I had a hankering for a club sandwich and my wife decided on fresh baked coconut cream pie. I added fries. Everything including the fresh hot coffee was terrific. Our waitress was very nice and the service matched the food. Stopped into the cafe as we were passing through Groveton. We were greeted by "We appreciate your business" sign outside. This is a small establishment with very friendly staff. The ambience fits the small town location. The menu has lots of options. Spouse and I both ordered burgers. We ordered tater tots and onion rings. The only burgers were HOT and juicy, onion rings HUGE, crispy and tasty. Too bad I don't live close, because I would make this a regular stop. Give them a try you won't be disappointed. read more

Groveton doesn't offer a ton of different places to eat, but the County Seat Cafe is all you need. Very friendly and dang good homemade meals. I had the small chicken fried steak with onion rings and a green salad. The chicken fried steak is not frozen and neither are the onion rings. I would certainly get them again!! When I come back, I probably will try something different just because I think everything they make is good. Today they had chicken spaghetti for a special, it looked very good. I have some relatives that live outside of Groveton, so me and my husband were looking for a place to eat in the area. We stopped in the County Seat Cafe, which was very quaint. The decor is a rustic country look and the menu is full of variety. They offer daily specials, burgers, chicken tenders and much more. I had a delicious burger. The staff was very friendly and kept coming by to refill our tea glasses. I also made a quick trip to the ladies room and everything was in order (tidy and clean). When we find ourselves back in Groveton, we will definitely stop in the County Seat Cafe again! read more

I stopped here passing through on a Friday for lunch. They had a daily special of catfish, sides, and a dessert. It was excellent and very generous portions. They also have free wifi in the middle of no where. I couldn't even get cell service. They staff was super friendly. I was able to connect my laptop to wifi and do a little work while I ate. Jan 18.. 1150 am. Stopped across the street at Exxon to potty but pipes were frozen. Looked across the street, saw Cafe, decided to eat. Burgers for both, shared fries, coffee. Burgers were hand pattied and were NOT from frozen beef. Server was nice, friendly. As people came in you could tell you were in a small town, everyone knew everyone. And when locals come in at lunch in large numbers, you know it is good food. When you enter, they may say "Well, butter my buns and call me a biscuit, looky who's here!" Very cute, down home place and the service was quick and friendly. The food was kind of bland to me. I got the chicken fingers with fries. The fries are good but the chicken just didnt have any flavor to it. I tried dipping them in their gravy and their ranch but it just didn't help. Country down home cooking In a country down home diner. We shared the chicken fried steak. You can get an 8 ounce for $9.99 and a 10 ounce for $10.99. It's served with mashed potatoes or French fries and Texas toast, and there's an up charge to substitute salad or steamed vegetables. I prefer a "plus your choice of two sides" option. The CFS was crunchy and the cream gravy was flavorful. We shared a piece of coconut cream pie and had a ho-hum reaction to that. There was a slight fridge taste and the crust was a little mushy. We'd stop here again, but more because it's OK and pretty much the only game in town. By far the best place to eat in town. We had the burgers and onion rings. Both were excellent. Fresh ingredients on the burgers with patties you could tell were not the frozen kind. Onion rings were a little on the greasy side, but still excellent. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in town. This town needs a good place like this to stick around. read more

If you're are ever in the Groveton area around meal time there is only one place to stop at and that is the County Seat Cafe. It is a place to get good home cooking along with a salad bar if you feel the necessity to be healthy for the day. The owner and the waitresses are all very friendly.
