I had to catch a train in Chemult and popped in here for dinner. It's exactly what you think of when you hear 'Bigfoot tavern'. Lots of kitschy decorations and Bigfoot paraphernalia. We felt a little bit like outsiders as everyone turned when we walked in but everyone was nice! Monday night football was on the tv. Renee (the manager and bartender) took great care of us. And made sure I left on time for my train! We split the brisket melt sandwich and I got the hazy IPA. The melt was so flavorful with the grilled onions and jalapeños. This mom and pop diner/bar hands down has my favourite brisket sandwich. Every couple of years I make a drive from SF to Bend, Oregon and stopping at Bigfoot Tavern on the way is the one spot that I plan my drive around. I'm no expert on barbecue, but i think it's fair to say that this was some of the best smoked brisket I've ever had. Not only was it extremely tender, it was more than just good tasting meat, you could definitely taste the smokiness. I also highly recommend getting the clam chowder on the side; again, probably some of the best I've had, and loaded with clam meat. This is the purest definition of a hole in the wall you can find nowadays: it's off the beaten path, the owner's are friendly and filled with hospitality when serving you - and the food is absolutely delicious for a reasonable price. If you are driving through Crescent, stopping here is a must and you will not be disappointed. read more

Children are not allowed so we were unable to eat here. I had done my research, was looking forward to a meal here. And did the 15 minute drive from Crescent Lake for dinner with the kids only to be turned away. No one under 18 allowed. Turns out this is common in this area. read more

Once again, while traveling to do a secret review in Idaho I stopped in to this Tavern. I will say, each time I stop it is consistent, the food is amazing, the bartender has been there as long as I've been doing secret reviews (she has no clue what I do) she knows her stuff when it comes to drinks! This was one of the only places open at 8pm after crossing over the state border from California to Bend. We entered just wanting something to fill our bellies after a long road trip but left in awe at the amazing food and hospitality! I got the loaded sausage dog and clam chowder. The sausage dog was great but I think the clam chowder made the biggest impression. Coming from the Bay Area, clam chowder is usually more chowder than clam but Amy definitely didn't skimp out on the clam! It was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious! She was cooking and tending bar. Definitely a dive bar popular with locals working at the nearby saw mills. If my husband was not with me, unlikely I would be brave enough to stop in by myself but would have been just fine. We intended to just go for a drink before having dinner elsewhere but we were welcomed and decided to just go ahead and have dinner at the bar. One girl was working the entire bar and cooking in the kitchen for the busy happy hour crowd. I was so impressed and she was efficient enough to give each customer all the attention they needed. I was unfamiliar with the beers on tap so she let me try a couple until I settled on the Sasquatch beer. Seemed appropriate anyway to have the Sasquatch at the Big Foot. My husband was happy with the bourbon selection at the full liquor bar. We split a steak sandwich which she served on two plates with two full orders of really good french fries.
