Yea no , The website versus the actual store is the complete opposite. I'm glad I didn't order anything online and just went in person just to see what they have on hand. It was more a collection of random items that the owner had bought from elsewhere with a different price tag. The building and the location is shady with a tiny sign , If it wasn't for the gentleman who worked that day ( whom was very friendly & honest ) even mentioned that the store & inventory wasn't the same once the Laws changed now and years ago. This place is more for local people who live in the area and can't travel out . Very limited options for a quick visit & they don't sell weapons of any kind. Tried to use them as an FFL for a recent firearm purchase that needed somewhere to ship. The dealer I worked with told me they were completely unresponsive to numerous phone calls, texts and emails. This was the second place I tried, after attempting to rely on FFL status of a pawn shop. I figured a firearm store that advertises their FFL status would be a sure bet. Nope. Any brick and mortar unable/unwilling to accommodate e-commerce just makes no sense today. I have to buy ammo somewhere, right. It could have been here, but guess not. To bad. read more

This place is a complete joke. First, as someone noted, they are completely non-responsive to other dealers asking for their FFL for shipment. Multiple emails and phone calls went unreturned. Second, good luck if you try to ship through them. Your firearm will go out...sometime...maybe...when they get around to it. Highly unprofessional. The counters are stacked with old papers and trash - who knows where some important paperwork might be. The store itself is filthy and there is debris, old packing materials, etc. littering the floor. It apparently used to be some kind of other business and there are still empty racks from that business cluttering up the place. Their selection is...odd. See the web site if you want to know what they've got. Covid masks? Forget it. Six feet? The store is barely six feet wide so I'll give them a pass but...these guys don't care about covid. 10/10 Every time, because these two folks really care about you and their work serving you well. They could not be more customer-oriented even if they grew wings. So skilled, so personable, they really listen and meet customers where they're at while still sharing their passion. I've had no hiccups even during '20-'21 when every store was slammed. I ordered a firearm online and shipped to Big Iron, smooth process! They've always been responsive to my questions via text. They recently did a couple transfers to friends and me & my buddies were always in knowledgeable hands, everything went great. My friends both said it was their best experience at a gun shop in this city, and they've found their new shop. They take safety seriously, but not themselves. All their customers are nice to chat & joke with. I always leave here feeling supported and happy. I highly recommend if you're a non-mainstream kind of person or new to firearms. This small shop will welcome you and never intimidate you, and there is never condescension to non-males or queers, which for me is the highest praise there is -- they treat everyone with utmost respect. These guys bend over backwards to get people what they need. Negative reviewers seem to not understand that availability of certain things is supplier dependent and the end retailer doesn't have control over when certain high demand items come in stock, or when they will ship after order, especially during a nationwide panic buyout. This is a good store, no neck flapping politics , and even if they are exhausted from being ultra busy they will treat you with the utmost respect. Prices are competitive enough and I will continue to do business with this "local" store over any corporate retailer. read more

Do Not Buy From This Store. I ordered a pistol from a dealer in the midwest, and needed a place to ship it and perform the transfer. My standard go-to gun dealers are Shooters Service Center in Saint Johns and Alison & Carey in east County; however, SSC is a bit of a haul, and A&C really doesn't want to perform FFL transfers unless you buy something from their store. Since Big Iron is close by, I figured that I would give them a shot. I had the dealer ship the pistol to Big Iron in March of 2020. I left them messages that it was coming, and I e-mailed them the same information, including my name, and the information about the dealer. No response at all. I drove to the store to give them my information, and fill out the paperwork ahead of time so that it wouldn't take very long. After standing around for a while and being ignored, they finally asked me what I wanted. I explained that I had left messages and phone calls, and that I wanted to fill out the paperwork; not an unreasonable request, since I am the one paying for it. They acted irritated that I was there at all, and told me to go home, and that they would call me when it arrived. I wait for the pistol to be delivered, and check the shipping status online via the USPS tracking number. Once it delivers, I call them again, and e-mail them again. No response. A day goes by, then two. I leave messages and send e-mails again. I finally get one e-mail from them stating that they are going to ship the pistol back to the dealer. I call and e-mail them again, and still no response. I wait about two weeks, and then call the dealer. He says that he never received anything back from Big Iron. So, I am out several hundred dollars. I have no pistol. The dealer has no pistol. Either these guys have my pistol and won't sell it, or they sold it to someone else, or they let it get lost. Who knows who has it? I had thought that they had gone out of business, based on the craptastic look of their store; but lately, I see evidence of continued business. After stewing about this for over a year and a half, I figured it was time to let the rest of the world know about their shady business practices. I will go back to Shooters Service Center, where they answer the phone quickly, they are friendly, they have decent prices, and they give me my merchandise. I recommend that you do, too. And visit Alison & Carey for repairs and used arms, they are great, too. Do Not Buy From This Store. read more

Looking to downsize, trade in and find something that works better for my small lady hands, we checked out a few shops in town. So happy we walked into Big Iron! The guys are super friendly and relaxed, not condescending and uptight like some of the other shops in town (you know who you are). At Big Iron we felt at ease, which makes this particular kind of shopping experience so much nicer on many levels. The trade felt really fair, they are honest about pricing and very knowledgable. The shop might be physically smaller than some others, but they have a good inventory online and can order what you want if they don't have it. Very happy, thanks guys! read more

I had seen BIA online and was curious. I am a new gun owner,having recently purchased at a Big Chain. I went into BIA not really expecting much...It was not shiny and new with that Big Chain corporate feel. In my search I had been in a lot of independent shops. The difference here was the owner/operator Walt! Knowledgeable, friendly,helpful and professional. I was looking for 300Blackout. Pretty difficult to get almost anywhere right now(wishlist for me). He didn't have any. His reasoning was good " I don't stock what I can't get ammo for". He asked good questions. The best question is "why?" Even though I am a new shooter, he did not make me feel stupid. He ask thoughtful questions. He more fully explained the role of AR pistols and rifles and their roles in home defense. He showed me a 10" 556 AR and didn't minimize my noise/hearing loss concerns in a home defense situation. He helped me with cost considerations and overall practicalities of the platform. Walt knew the positives and negatives. He respected my research and needs. I didn't by that pistol today, but I know where I am going when I buy my next one!!! Thank you Walt read more
