They have two price brackets, expensive and exorbitantly expensive. I honestly don't know how they are able to compete and keep in business. I enjoyed looking at and handling their wares, but I'm just priced out. They would work better as a firearm museum. They are decently friendly, though a bit stiff. I was able to find the items I was looking for at Cabelas (rings and ammo) for about 60% of their asking price. If you like steel and wood this is the place to go. I had read enough reviews to make myself quite apprehensive about even going into this place but my dad was in town and said he hadn't been able to find any .410 ammo anywhere. I said, hey there is this place nearby but I've heard they are pretty much rude but hey lets try it, maybe it won't be that bad. Good news, they had .410 ammo, albeit some #8, which was the least attractive type but hey, they had it, and overcharged for a terrible brand. Yes, they were significantly pricier then online and retail stores for the ammunition that I needed but they were the only place within hundreds of miles that had it in stock. If they have what you need in stock and you've been looking for days or weeks, then pay the higher price and get what you need and stop complaining! This is the Zombie Apocalypse! I sure am grateful. I went to The Gun Room for Archery Supplies. Upstairs is a fair selection of Archery Supplies. Not a wide variety but a good assortment. It's more like a store room of supplies than a store. If you can look past the clutter and get past the large amount of info given on why they only carry certain brands. You may find what you need. I only wanted Nocks. I even showed the sales rep. the arrow I needed a Nock for. He said, You need this one. I buy a Dozen for $4.00. Awesome...... Till I got home to discover. I had in fact NOT been given the correct Nocks. They do sell Free Standing Bag/Targets for cheaper than any other place in town. So I say, Buyer Beware. When I called The Gun Room, Warren yelled at me in a spittle-induced tirade about Taylor's going behind his back and selling directly to his customers. If you want to get a superior firearm like the Colt 1911 this is the place to go to, they are very knowledgeable on that and will demonstrate how to do maintenance properly, showing proven cleaning/oiling, etc. products and methods that avoid common mistakes; they also give excellent recommendations on training and other resources. Bottom line.... if you want the "handgun" of today, manufactured, and wholesaled at today's prices then shop at "current" day businesses and compare prices for the "deal" your looking for. If you want a handgun of "yesterday" which you can't find at "current" day businesses.... anywhere... then The Gun Room is where you need to go! Realizing these handguns are not purchased from wholesalers, but likely "estates" because that's where you find them here and there from time to time, further understaning someone had to go out and find them, evaluate them, then buy them putting them on a shelf for who knows how long before they sell and you complain about the price... come on! There's a lot more that goes into to obtaining these handguns then just going on-line and ordering from a wholesaler... and remember.... you weren't the one who did all the "footwork" in finding and buying this handgun! When your talking about pricing "antique/vintage" hanguns v. "current" day handguns its like comparing apples and oranges. Not only in quality but quanity and availability! So funny reading all these reviews. I didn't realize everyone had the same experience as me with these guys. I went in to the gun room about 5 years ago. I was just looking for an extra clip for my S&W 9mm. The staff working there could care less about their customers. Took awhile for me to get the attention of one of them and when I asked about the clip I was looking for I was basically told that my gun was junk and that they didn't carry junk parts. I have no clue how these guys stay in business when they are such assholes to 95% of their customers. Go over to the Google reviews and check out some of their responses to bad reviews. This place makes for a remarkable museum, but I can't say I'll use it often as a store. I kind of like "grumpy, opinionated old guys" heckling and banter, even if the "Trump will save us all" remarks were so frequent that it derailed sharing actual information. But the markup on their items is crazy. I wouldn't mind paying full list price on things if it helps support a neighborhood business, but much of their stuff is 20-30% above list. And they don't just mark it up but try to convince you it's a good price. I tried to haggle with the guy about the price of one ridiculously marked-up item, and he refused saying I wouldn't be able to get it cheaper anywhere else. I went in to buy a rifle and a pistol a few months ago. The old guys at the counter didn't even look at me when I said hi. One of them was sitting behind the counter doing nothing and wouldn't even look at me. I decided if they were going to ignore me I would ignore them. Terrible customer service. Their pricing is the highest I have ever seen in any small gun shop ever. They did have a large selection but it's because no one wants to pay exorbitant prices. The gentlemen who run this place are very knowledgable, and they all have a great sense of humor. The gentleman who helped me, showed me various hand guns and let me get a feel for them.
