We spent almost a year planning for our wedding at Hulihee Palace. Jade and Paul were awesome to work with. A week before the wedding we found out the storm of the century was coming, the Kona Low. We were warned that the rains would be okay but winds may prevent us from tents being set up and we would have been forced l to cancel our wedding. Big island tents saved the day. They withstood the rains and winds and all we heard from our guests was that the wedding was epic. So when you saw the aerial of downtown Kona and you saw the white tents set up at the palace across from the restaurant that lost their roof, a picture IS worth a thousand words. Those tents made it through the storm and it was a wedding to remember. Big Island Tents did an amazing job of bringing our DIY Wedding to life on May 17, 2018! We had our wedding in the backyard of our vacation home rental so we had to rent everything from tables to chairs and lighting from Big Island Tents. From the very start, Paul and Bob were so prompt at responding to us when we asked for an initial quote and were very helpful when we had questions or asked about other items to rent. We were concerned that there would be rain on the day of our wedding, but Paul and Bob were there for us when we asked about whether we should get a last minute tent (we decided against one and thankfully, it didn't rain!). The delivery guys arrived on time for set-up and pick-up and were really friendly and nice to work with. The lighting guy literally just asked us what we wanted, I showed him a photo and he said "I can do better than that" and got right to working away, creating the most amazing pattern of lights that honestly made our wedding so so beautiful. Everything was delivered and picked up with no issues, allowing our event to be a success. We didn't know a lot about organizing a wedding, and they were patient with our many questions. We used big island tents for our wedding at the Falls at Reeds Island. They were great to work with when picking out what I wanted. The service itself was fine. Delivery was $300 extra and they arrived 15 min outside of their delivery window. Said they would be there from 9-10 am and showed up at 10:20 am. In addition, 2 of the farm tables were scrapped and needed some re-finishing/ looked too used. The tables and chairs served their purpose for our wedding but not 5 stars. We paid 1200 for 3 tables, 2 high boys and a bar. For the price I expected 5 stars. read more

From the lighting, to the tables, linens and bar - everything looked beautiful and like it was meant to be there. BIT was an incredibly patient vendor to work with and we're glad we went with them for our rentals! Because of COVID we had not one but TWO wedding postponements, scaling down from a 170-person multi-day destination wedding weekend to a 12-person backyard wedding. Paul was great to work with, he responded promptly to email and phone calls and was very accommodating to my never ending questions. However, I felt there was more to be desired from the company. Weddings can be a really stressful time, and the pressure is on to keep everything right on schedule. Our tables were delivered a little late, just an hour or so, which wasn't a huge deal but did cut in to our plans for the day because we couldn't decorate until we got the chairs and tables. They were supposed to call when they left the office in waimea to drop off our stuff (in Kona) but I didn't receive the call. One thing that made me upset was that the padded white chairs we ordered were super dirty and stained like they hadn't ever been washed. And the tables were old and very basic. For the price I paid I feel like I definitely should've gotten more. The worst part however, was pickup day. No one called to tell us when they would be coming to pick up the tables. We eventually called and they told us they would be there within a half an hour, so we're scrambling to get everything organized and put outside for them to pick up. Luckily, my whole family was still there to help. Then, when the delivery guys came they backed their truck up over the grass in front of the house we were renting and tore it all up!!! The tables and chairs were stacked only 15 feet away from the driveway!! So I had to explain to the property manager what happened and that was just added stress that could've easily been avoided. Ultimately, we got what we needed when we needed it and there aren't a lot of options for rentals in Kona but I expected more considering how much I paid. read more
