Welcomed right away. Recommended by new friends. The outside is deceiving as it looks like no one is here, no cars. But inside is clean, warm and welcoming. We ordered some wings to try their food as wing lovers. I think the bartender is Nicole (other patrons). She was openly friendly and welcoming to us and accommodating to turn two tvs to our teams. Wings come out and they are huge!! Delicious and cooked perfectly. We will have to try more off the menu but we are full so another visit. Service so far is great and food excellent. We went out to dinner with family we hadn't seen in a long time. This restaurant accommodated our large group and it was a nice, cozy place to sit and relax as a family. A good friend introduced me to this unique spot and I couldn't be happier! This is a really great bar/restaurant to go to if you appreciate exceptional food as well! The food here was impressive, when my friend asked me to meet her at the "bar" I wasn't expecting such phenomenal tasting food! I tried the chicken picatta and it's still on my mind. It had to be one of the best chicken picatta dishes I've had in a long time! My friend sent me home with some pizza she purchased, and that was delicious as well! On the recommendation of a friend we tried this place for our Friday food adventure! It was quite the drive for us but we're glad we tried this unique place on Ferry Blvd in Stratford. All covid precautions were taken including wiping down tables between visits and mark wearing. Our food was perfect , the fish was light and crispy (as a Brit I'm picky about that ;)) and the salmon was oven baked just right with a delicious cream sauce and sweet cherry tomato halves, and my request for double spinach instead of carbs was no problem at all. A mix up with our order was corrected graciously and we were surprised to be presented with a $15 gift card at checkout to apologize for the wait whilst it was fixed... and we hadn't even complained! The wings were crispy and perfectly seasoned ... could have eaten those all day! Very pleasant experience, nice location and friendly staff! Hopefully Big Jim's Galley will be a great addition to the Stratford restaurant scene. Located in the previous location that started out years ago as PTBarnums Steamed Cheeseburgers I can honestly say that Jim's has improved the menu one thousand percent ! Sitting at home wondering where to order take out we mulled through the obvious choices available in our restaurant starved town. I must admit that Jim's was a pleasant surprise. The portions were good especially on a takeout. Everything was made to order. The Tuna sandwich is excellent. The Philly Cheesesteak was filled with tender sliced steak with a large assortment of choices to add. The best kept secret are the clams strips and those Onion Rings.... Scubilisious! Big Jim's is a casual spot where friends can get together and catch up over a beer. The menu was actually rather large and my aunt and uncle are fans of their happy hour. The portions are really large, so I recommend splitting a plate unless you have a big appetite. The Philly Cheesesteak was well executed and you have your choice of a few different cheese options. The burger was juicy and hit the spot. We were also big fans of the onion rings. The downside is that the food took a ridiculously long time to come out, almost 45 minutes for our 4 dishes when the restaurant was empty. Great to see Vic back in action!!! We loved the new look of the restaurant and I think the food is better than the former operation at this location. Drinks were decent. Worst place in all of Stratford. No parking and the lot is on a slant tables and chairs are practically falling apart tables leak all over you. The patio chairs are so uncomfortable moving every two seconds. Seafood tastes frozen and microwaved. Service was so slow waited an hour just for my appetizer they were empty. I am a local and eat here almost every weekend. The remodel is awesome, and the addition of ac makes the inside comfortable on a hot day. New fans on the outside to keep the bugs away. I have not had a bad meal yet from pizza, burgers, the roast beef special, clams, oysters, and the best stuffies outside of Rhode island. Bartenders are friendly and the wine pours are generous. I went here for lunch during the week and was very satisfied with the food we got. I expected it to be not as good as it was because i was traveling back to work with it but was very happy with it. We tried the fried clam strip meal and the clams were fantastic and tasty. Cooked just right! We also got the old bay seasoned dry rubbed wings and they were phenomenal. Visited Big Jim's Galley a few times and each time walked away full and a happy camper. Get there early because dining area is small altho it houses a good size bar if that's your thing. Food was excellent but why wouldn't it be with Marky D. heading the kitchen. He devises some incredible recipes and sauces. The hamburger is to die for; the calamari is crisp (not chewy) just tell the wait staff to have it cooked "well". The fish and chips are fresh. If you like garlic, the bene balls are for you. Try the cavatappi alla vodka, one of my favorites, which I look forward to having again - you're sure to bring home a good portion. Others in my party have had the warm spinach salad, the mussels, the NY strip (properly cooked) and the Philly cheesesteak sandwich, with raves about their dishes. Great place! Used to always visit when it was "Off The Hook" - it was always very good. Now, it's even better. Newly renovated, the bar is gorgeous and double the size. Dining room is cute and intimate and the food is great. Enjoyed a fantastic pizza this past Memorial Day weekend. Ate here for the first time tonight and sat at the bar. Love the remodeled atmosphere. I ordered a burger and hubby ordered the fish and chips. All the food was delicious and was a great portion for the price. It did take a little longer than you'd expect to get the food but we were there to relax and were not in a hurry.
