They updated the menu and as luck might have it, we were disappointed that Brussels Sprouts were a casualty of the new direction. Beer options are still excellent and while the steak tips app is no longer an option (they do have a downsized version of the old app if you ask) there's a steak tip dinner portion that works. The burger is still very good. The ambiance in the bar where we ate is pretty good as well. They were pretty crowded and we had to wait a bit but that's not on them, just something to plan for on a weekend. Our server was very good. SDT is a solid, reliable spot. If you want basic comfort food they have it and it is prepared very well. We'll keep returning and maybe one day the sprouts will be on a specials menu! read more

Our drinks came first then we split the duck wings. Now when was the last time you saw duck wings on a menu? we had to try them and were happy we did. Next we had our entrees. I had the tavern cod and my friend had the goat salad with salmon. My meal was really tasty and so was my friend's salad however she noted that the salmon was overcooked. Went to the Sitting Duck in Stratford, place has various locations across CT. Just got a few bites to eat and sat in the bar area. Shared some Philly Egg rolls, steak tips and a Bird Cage chicken sandwich. Everything was pretty good, the steak tips were my favorite, came with a good pepper aioli to dip in. The Philly Egg rolls were different, almost had a Mexican vibe to them with adding the green pepper, they weren't bad, just different, enjoyed the dipping sauce those came with. We started our meal with the Zbar Calamari - which had hot cherry peppers, basil and hot oil. This was just enough to take those hunger pains away. The calamari was fresh and the hot oil was a nice addition. Our meals - mine the cadillac burger had both bbq sauce and chipotle ranch with cheddar cheese blend and fronions. Just enough topping so your not all messy but enough that the burger tasted really good. I asked for my fries well done so they had a nice crisp and were so good I used no ketchup. My husband's meal was a swordfish with a nice sear with a creamy pesto pasta. My husband does not have the opportunity for swordfish often. However, he was very happy with his swordfish today. We were a party of 5 with a number of people with allergies. Kudos to the chef and staff. They were very accommodating and super friendly about it. Our server was the best. The food was really tasty, well seasoned. Their apps were delicious. Get the duck wings!!! Wow!!! The sticky Korean BBQ sauce in them was pure umami. The menu had a great assortment of items from comfort food to burgers and chicken sandwiches to pasta and higher end dishes like beef tips and salmon. Noooo! Ordered takeout from here for the first time! While I was pretty happy with my salad that was "Tex Mex /lime inspired, it didn't have any lime flavor. The cheesesteak egg rolls didn't taste like anything, you really could say it had any filling because I could tell cheesesteak at all. But the most disappointing was the boneless wings, $15 for 5 and they were sooo dry!! They were over cooked and you really had to drink water to get them down. Stuck in Stratford for the night and looked online for nearby restaurants. This place popped up. Looking at their menu this was a no brainer. The scallop scampi looked scrumptious. Ten minutes later I'm sitting in the bar area looking for my scallops. Nope. It was a special that ended a few days earlier. &@$&@)(&&@$ Well I'm here, I'm hungry, and they have beer. Lets get the seafood special. As good as the scallop scampi looked, this tasted better! Lots of crab legs, shrimp, scallops etc over a bed of rice with some tomato based sauce/gravy. Stopped in for an impromptu early dinner for the first time. Cute little tavern with a small dining room & bar area. They also have an outdoor patio area. Music was spot on in this feel-good vibe dive space. Our server, Sean was super attentive to our needs while also watching the bar. I would have liked to see a bigger dinner entree selection, but they had some unique fare on their menu. We came to Sitting Duck Tavern this weekend for my dad's birthday. I had previously tried their food (and loved it) through take out when COVID first started and was excited to finally go to the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the inside of the restaurant was and our waiter did a great job of seating all 6 of us at a large table, far from anyone else. For drinks my sister and I got the espresso martini with baileys, my mom got a cosmo, and my dad got a draft beer. The espresso martini was phenomenal! I kind of wish I had saved it for the end as dessert as the Bailey's made it extra creamy. They also had a large selection of local draft beer. For apps, we got the duck wings, bacon brussel sprouts, and truffle fries. Everything was great but the brussel sprouts really stood out to me! They were so crispy and had this lovely maple glaze on top. Even my boyfriend, who hates brussel sprouts, enjoyed them. The duck wings were also super tasty and a unique item to see on the menu! For dinner I got the bacon cheddar mac and cheese. It was excellent! I loved the addition of the peas in the dish and bacon and breadcrumbs were perfectly crisped. Other entrees that were ordered were the Cali burger, chicken Milanese ciabatta, pork cutlet, and Buffalo bomb. I tried a taste of each and everything was fantastic and high quality! Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the valley. Great service, drinks, and food - all at an affordable price. I am excited to try their outdoor patio area once it warms up! I picked up some takeout from here - Cadillac burger for me, Chicken Alfredo for my boyfriend. My burger was good - I expected the onions to be a little soggy since it was takeout but they were still flavorful. My fries were also good but just wish I had more. We have lived in Stratford for 12 years and always forget about this restaurant. My husband surprised me by setting up a sitter to watch the kids for our anniversary. He said we could go wherever I wanted for dinner. Quick search on Yelp and the Sitting Duck popped up. Menu and reviews looked good, so we decided to give it a try. It was a Tuesday night, but the bar area was pretty busy. They gave us a choice of sitting in the bar or in the restaurant. We decided bar area looked nice. They have a great selection of local beers on tap. We ordered the fried calamari with the hot peppers for appetizer. Delicious! We both ordered the steak tips with mashed potatoes for dinner. Mine medium rare and his medium well. They were perfectly cooked per our order (except they gave us the wrong plates). Tuesday night is trivia night. Came for lunch with coworkers, i had been here a few years ago on a sunday for football and remembered the food being good. We ordered 3 salads (1 Cobb, 2 goats with added chicken for 3.99 more) and a sandwich. The salads arrived and I was not impressed with the size, for 17 bucks I should get a big sized salad in my opinion. Also there were no candied walnuts to be found and it definitely said it on the menu. So I found our waiter and asked about them, he had no idea and said he would check. He came back with 2 sides of walnuts. We tasted them and they were in no way candied, they tasted like plain burnt walnuts. We actually wound up giving them to the coworker who got the Cobb salad and had already finished it as he stated "im Still so hungry i dont care if they taste bad I need more to eat". The goat salads were very tasty, same with the other orders per their comments, just not impressed with the size of them for the money. Would I be back? Disappointing. Ordered a burger, butternut squash "soup" and a salad. The place was empty but the Kitchen was very slow. Once we did receive our meal, the soup was actually a stew with chicken and vegetables. I asked if that was the soup - I thought i received the meal. This was the "soup." The burger was very rare, not medium as ordered. Sent the burger back, asking for a medium burger. When the new burger finally arrived, it was so burnt, it was not edible. They comped the soup and burger. The waitress was new and very apologetic (she is the only reason for the 2 stars). I ordered a salad bowl with cod fish the wife got buffalo wings and a salad. The problem with an open kitchen is you can see everything. Our food sat under the heat lamps for a long time....... This place is great! We ordered two salads and a soup to go. The lime chicken salad was just what my friend wanted. Light and simple. Nice added touch with the tortilla chips. The tomato bisque soup is such a good starter! It was not heavy. Light enough to pair with a salad. The flavor was so good too. I also had the goat cheese salad and added grilled chicken. Interesting establishment, upon entering through the door your welcomed with a nice wooden country themed atmosphere, I ordered the burratta salad and was extremely satisfied it was one of the best burratta's I've ever had. My SO enjoyed the house nachos, the service was slightly jet lagged I ordered a ipa draft and the drink didn't arrive until after the appetizers came out.
