We recently used Big League Movers for our move from Memphis, TN, to Grand Rapids, MI, based on strong recommendations and assurances from their sales team. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to what was promised. Before booking, I specifically asked about packing quality because of bad past experiences with movers "just throwing things into boxes." I was repeatedly assured that Big League Movers was different--that we'd get top-notch, professional packers who take pride in doing things right. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. Here are some of the key issues we encountered: Poor packing quality - At least half of the items Big League packed were thrown into boxes without any padding or protection. We discovered our ceramic pans had other heavy metal items stacked inside them with zero wrapping. Thankfully, my wife caught this the night before the move, opened the boxes, and repacked them herself. Electronics mishandled - Several expensive computer and electronic items were packed without padding, which could have caused serious damage. Damaged items - An Amish dresser arrived with a broken foot, an Ikea dresser was severely damaged during unloading, and several household items weren't packed at all and arrived broken. Hidden damage - While moving a dresser into a closet in our new home, they ripped a wire shelf support out of the wall and didn't tell anyone. We found it later lying on the floor. Understaffed unloading - Only two movers came to unload everything. After four hours, they were exhausted, and my family had to step in and help to avoid more damage from fatigue. To their credit, the movers were polite, and one team member, Chris, stood out as being genuinely apologetic and trying to do his best. But overall, the lack of care and professionalism fell far short of what we were promised. None of the items we packed ourselves--including half of our belongings that my wife and kids put into bins--were damaged. The damage and issues came entirely from how Big League Movers packed and handled our items. If you're considering Big League Movers for a local move around Memphis, you might still have a better experience. But based on our cross-country move, I would strongly caution anyone with high-value items or long-distance plans to ask very specific questions about who will be packing, how items will be protected, and what accountability they provide. read more

Hired with a $800 estimate. Paid $1490. They fell onto my mother's chair and broke the leg off. They sent the "claim" through a third party vendor which offered me $30 for the damage and no offer of repair. I spent $30 in time filling out the ridiculous 1990s non digital form. I chose them for the high ratings. Odd but my sister said the mover used her phone and put in a 5 star review. We have used Big League movers before and we were happy with the service, so we used them again a couple of weeks ago. We were quoted 6 hours, and it ended up being 12 hours. It was a super hot day, so the movers needed to take some breaks (at our expense). When the move was completed, about 8:45 at night, we were all exhausted. I did not like that when we were finished, the leader called his boss and I had to give a verbal review over the phone. Also, he put his phone out for me to write a Google review. I said the guys worked hard, which they did. But I would rather have been given the opportunity to write my review once we surveyed the finality of the move, and not pressured to write the review in front of the guys who had just worked a 12 hour day. We knew about a couple of broken items, but we found more as we uncovered our furniture. Last time, there was one broken piece, and Big League took care of it. This time, we have found 4 or 5 chips, dings, busted trim, etc. We have started a claim, and I will write another review once their furniture repair guy fixes our problems. read more

We have used Big League movers several times in the past with no issues. This time was horrible. The movers got into a fight with each other and damaged three pieces of antique furniture as well as the elevator in our building. They assured me that the company would repair my items and make things right. This was in June. My claim was turned over to an outside party and to date, in spite of many phone calls and emails, nothing has been resolved. I have used in multiple with a wide variety of experiences. My experience with Big League is this: at the initial estimate, I was told that I would only be charged for services actually used and needed and if I did a lot of prep myself, it would decrease cost however this was not entirely the case. 1). They over-charged me and did not follow up when I asked them about it - difficult to communicate with. They charged me for 2 trucks when each was only about 1/3 full - I attempted many times in advance to communicate that I had gotten rid of many things, as discussed at the initial estimate, but when I tried to follow up both before and after the move, I spoke to office staff just reading off a script. They also over-charged the storage load in as if the 2 trucks were full, when there was only 3 palates worth of stuff. 2). The packers would not follow instructions on helping me organize the packing of items the way I needed, wasting time and money. I packed most things myself so I knew where they were. 3). The moving men on day of move were EXCELLENT. I would not hesitate to use those men again. My main complaint is being charged for much more than I needed and difficulty communicating on follow up. read more

Moved from Millington to Memphis, and the guys showed up. They were super nice and professional. For an hourly service, they were really fast in pushing up my furniture. I only had them move my big furniture that I did not want to move myself, but moving isn't cheap. I would hire this company again. They were super helpful the entire time, even prior to the move. Movers and moving are EXPENSIVE!!! I moved at the end of January. My items were in a storage unit - all boxes and items pre-wrapped. The movers, Deangelo, Kadarius and Deon made my move a little less stressful that day. They moved all of my items in 3.75 hours with 3 movers - and for efficiency my dad and I helped move a few items. And I had over 45 boxes plus furniture and appliances. I had a few moving blankets that I pre-purchased on my own to protect my furniture, the movers mistook them for their own. I called them back and Jim personally returned them to me. If I had to move again, I would definitely call Big League Movers. But I definitely will have to save all of my little coins to have $239/hour. read more

These guys saved the day!! First off, let me start with telling you how respectful and courteous the guys were. They arrived on time, worked together, wrapped everything and moved it without harming any of my furniture or the house. These men are gentlemen! They were incredibly polite and friendly! Hiring Big League Movers was a tremendous, unforgettable, and extraordinarily calamitous error. I would advise everyone to avoid them at all costs, as, in our experience, the stress of moving was compounded exponentially by their presence. If only we had known beforehand. But they came highly recommended, and the Google reviews seemed uniformly good. We were moving from a one bedroom apartment, around 500 sq ft, sixth floor. Our movers arrived around 4 PM, and finished around 10PM, at $206 per hour. This included a work stoppage of 45 minutes so that the movers could "get a little strategy together". This was shocking, as it took half as much time for Two Men and a Truck to move us into the building. Even more unbelievably, we later heard from our neighbors that our belongings were strewn all throughout the lobby of the building and the hallway of our floor, with complete disregard for the other inhabitants. After the truck was loaded, I attempted to address my concerns with the head mover Joe. He was totally unreceptive to my concern, which finally prompted me to remark that this was the worst experience I'd ever had with movers, to which he replied instantly and with malice, "this is the worst experience I've ever had with a move." At this point the goal became getting our belongings out of their truck and getting them away from us as quickly as humanly possible. Upon arrival at our new residence, the movers began unloading boxes onto the patio. While they carried the heavier furniture into the house, they left the boxes for us to move ourselves. So, at 9PM on a weeknight, my family and I became an unofficial part of the Big League Movers team. It was simply beyond belief. When I remarked to the movers that I had never been expected to participate in this way before, they informed me that since this was their first day on the job, they didn't know exactly where they should be taking the boxes. The clearly labelled boxes. Hand to god. Upon inspection, we discovered that they badly damaged our leather couch, along with an heirloom bookshelf with a now badly split back, a 2-inch chunk out of the frame of a 7 ft mirror, and surely more not yet discovered. I was so wearied by this point that I refused to sign the close out paperwork Joe presented me with. Upon this, he, an employee of Big League Movers, began swearing at me, increasing the vitriol in an attempt to rile me further than the complete and unassailable incompetence of he and his cohort already had. I carried the last piece of furniture from their truck myself, in a flurry of insults and taunts, and then they sped off, in an enormous moving truck, down our driveway and into the night. Big League attempted to compensate us, by offering their services, such as they were, for free. But our belongings are still damaged. And the memory of the horrific experience remains. My partner later mentioned that, several days before the move, Big League contacted her with the offer to add an additional person to the moving crew, for an additional fee. She agreed to this, but had she not, they would have sent only two guys. And I have every confidence the "work" would still be going had she not agreed to the addition of the third man. Altogether a rank and totally unprofessional experience from top to bottom. I've used this company twice and both times have had bad experiences. I held off on reviewing the first move only because I believe everyone has a bad day and they did apologize and outlined the steps they've taken to improve. So we tried them a second time and I now have well over $2,000 worth of furniture and other personal effects damaged because they neglected to properly secure the items they loaded. I spoke to the VP of Big League, Mr. Greer, who assured me he'd personally handle this and requested a list of the damaged items along with the value of each item which I provided and then he didn't even have the courtesy to call me with the denial, he emailed me. Not a penny! Not our fault. I'm extremely disappointed with this outcome and see a real lack of integrity at the highest level. If the leadership behaves this way, how can one expect the employees to be any different. CJ and Terrence were great yesterday. They were very friendly and concerned about some especially delicate pieces of furniture. They had their work cut out for them as they had to navigate a small and narrow freight elevator at the new location and a tricky parking situation at the old location. My only suggestions are that they could have known their way to and from the locations better which wasted time resulting in a late arrival and trouble locating the new location. Additionally, I think the move could have been done with a little more urgency but I wouldn't trade their delightful personalities and concern for my Mom's items for one less hour billed. Truly. We are all doing the best we can in the middle of this crazy Covid year. Big League was exceptionally accommodating for this last minute move. I literally scheduled it 5 days prior. We had 7 pieces of furniture to move from various rooms to other rooms in our home. Nothing would be hauled away and nothing had to be moved very far within the home. They gave a quote for minimum fee and when the fee was exceeded while at the home, no one shared at any point that the fees would have to be increased till the final bill came. They charged us $700 to move pieces in our home around to various rooms. We ask for some negotiated "meet in the middle" and the operations director basically said "it is what is". very pool customer service and makes me wonder if living in a nice home in Germantown has anything to do with their pricing. Overall we felt our actual movers did a good job, however this company is run terribly. Our move was schedule for Sat 6/3 and the day prior I received a call asking if we would be flexible and move on Sunday 6/4 because they were behind for the week due to power outages in Memphis and the message said we would receive a discount for our flexibility. I return the call and the woman who answers says I have to talk to the sales guy who left me the message and he'll call me back. All day goes by and I leave another message with her that look we need to know if we're moving tomorrow or not and to tell this dude that yes we are accepting his offer and will move Sunday. Guess what happens Saturday morning? Yep, movers call and say they're on the way over so I have to tell them that we cannot move that day, later on an operations manager calls and confirms yes we will be moving the next day. So moving day arrives and it's raining (this was forecasted so I wasn't surprised) and the guys are working hard to get us all loaded up. We had one drawer come open and them items inside break but whatever, a little disappointed they don't wrap drawer furniture but I can get over it. At some point both of the posts on our porch are knocked into - no one says anything and it's already happened so we just document the damage because hey, it's covered, right? Everything gets into our new home and for the most party in the correct spot. We pay and I notice there's no discount but I feel like this isn't the movers role so I pay and keep the receipt. The next day I get a follow up call before I can call them and I bring up both the damage and the discount we did not receive and I'm told I'll receive a call back - nothing. I've followed up today and still nothing. If this company winds up making things right I'll update here but I'm ticked off, never would have changed my move - especially to a day with forecasted rain if not to save a little $ and I need the damaged repairs as I'm trying to sell my old place. We had a very unfortunate experience with big league movers. Since we were moving to another state, we had to rent our own UHaul. We hired them to load our things into the Uhual and due to the way the men loaded the Uhual, almost every piece of furniture we own is ruined. They haphazardly put metal frames on top of wood furniture, placed wood furniture upside down coming into contact with the metal floor of the truck. They did not protect any of the wood. We did not know this until we unloaded, because we did not watch their every move. When we unloaded, we were astonished at the ridiculous way the two men loaded the truck. The company who unloaded in NC commented and said if that happened at their company the men would be fired on the spot. There was zero order, and clearly did not take care of fragile items. The two men also took their time, standing around talking often and slowly did their work. However, the most disappointing thing of all is that this company refuses to keep their employees accountable. Because it wasn't their truck, and because they didn't unload, they say they are not responsible. So now we are out thousands of dollars due to their incompetence. DO NOT USE THEM. Do Not use this company. I used them on 6/29/2019 and my jewelry was stolen. I called the company over and over again and all of a sudden I couldn't get in touch with the manager. I drove out to the address that was listed on the contract and couldn't find the business. I waited on filing a police report because I thought maybe I could bargain with them to just return my jewelry and I wouldn't cause any trouble. After no luck of talking to anyone I filed a claim with the insurance listed on the contract and a police police report. I talked with Tina Burgess and was told that my claim would be filed. After waiting many months I called this same Tina Burgess and once again, all of a sudden I couldn't get in touch with her. I gave it a little time and then called again, no progress. Actually, I called a week ago and I was told that Tina Burgess wasn't available but to stop calling because this is not a insurance company. So, I reached out to the moving company once again because I'm thinking,I didn't want to give them a bad review and didn't even know about this. I called and talked to Matt and he was very defensive and promised me that he would look into this. Well, NO call from Matt and this iwhy I'm writing this review. I was very pleased with the service I received from Big League Movers. They came as a recommendation from my real estate agent, and they did not disappoint. I was quoted 3 movers estimating to take 5 or so hours to move all our furniture and boxes from current home, drive across Memphis and unpack it all into our new home. The person who came out to give us a quote was incredibly friendly, and professional. The men who came out to move our belongings were very friendly, patient with 2 large dogs barking the entire time (sorry about that!) and most of all efficient. There was a lot more stuff that needed to be moved that I realized but they zipped through it! After moving I noticed a leak in our driveway and thought that one of the guys accidentally ran over the sprinkler head. I reached out to one of the owners and he promptly got back and said to just send him the invoice of the repair and they'd make it right. After our irrigation guy came by to check everything he was able to confirm it was not the sprinkler head, but actually a leak from our pool (bad news for us!). I let Jonathan know and he was thankful for my honesty with him and told me to let him know if there was anything else they could do. If we ever have to move again, I will make sure to reach back out to BLM for their services. We moved a 4br 4ba house 15 minutes down the street. We were given an estimate for 3 trucks and a 5 man crew. The estimate was for 8-9 hours, and approximately $3,000. The move took 12 hours on one day to load, and unload one and a half trucks. They returned a second day and took 5 more hours to unload the remaining truck. So the actual time it took for the move was 17 hours. Since they actually bill by the man-hour (for the most part), it ended up costing us $4,800. They missed their time estimate by over double and their cost estimate by over 50%. The only consolation the regional manager could give me after the fact was 95% of their moves go smoothly. We unfortunately, were part of the 5% that do not. I believe they low balled our estimate to get our business, and then NO ONE on our moving team had any responsibility to keep the team moving with any sense of urgency, or at a pace that met anything close to our time estimate. All moving companies might have problems like this, but we will certainly try someone else next time. Our move was in August. Now that Christmas season is upon us, we're open our Christmas totes to find many broken items, all of which were wrapped in paper. They survived years and years of back and forth to the attic as packed. They just didn't survive a move by Big League. read more

I hired BLM for a loading service, and the staff and movers were kind & professional. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because my movers did not use the moving wraps that I purchased from U-Haul. As a result, when I arrived at my new home in Gulfport, all of my wooden and leather furniture was damaged. Additionally, because one of the movers only partially disassembled one of the legs on my coffee table, the entire piece snapped off; completely ruining it. Because the company does not assume liability for load-only services, I was not able to be reimbursed. For this reason I wouldn't recommend them for load-only services because you have no protection in the event your goods are damaged. read more

I want to provide you with feedback of our recent experience when moving our belongings from a storage unit to our new home on 6/2/17. After multiple recommendations and reading all of the great reviews for Big League we decided to hire Big League for our move. Our expectations were high for the price of services and the great ratings. After having moved multiple times over the years and having experienced both poor service and great service, we were drastically disappointed in the quality of service we received. I respect the difficulty of moving and what goes into it, as I am pretty much an expert at moving considering all the moves we have done over the years. Unfortunately, we had the B team sent out for our move. My husband had to take a young man from your moving team to the ER after a table leaf busted his head open. It seemed the young man who was injured was the team lead and with his absence this left the rest of the movers without direct guidance / supervision. We hope the young man who was injured is doing well, since my bringing this up is only to identify he was the "Team Leader". Additionally, I observed one of the other movers reeked of alcohol and was extremely hungover and another was on his phone a majority of the time. I can't count the number of furniture items that were damaged because they didn't wrap ANYTHING with moving pads (which we were told would be done), the number of gouges to brand new wood floors from scooting furniture or a metal dolly on the floors, the scraped sheetrock that now has to be patched, antique piano that was slammed into concrete because it was too heavy for them, the dents to our stainless refrigerator, the boxes the were put into incorrect areas due to them not reading the labels. It was a terrible experience and made moving into our newly remodeled home highly dissatisfying. We are not trying to get money back but want to inform you of the poor services we received and hope this does not happen to future customers.
