I do not recommend MY TOWN MOVERS! On Jan 3, 2025 MTM moved our belongings using Randall's crew. They did a great job n I actually gave a 5 star review n a generous tip to all four men. After opening n placing my items, we discovered an item missing. During this moving period there were only my husband n myself moving anything from the home until Randall's crew arrived on 1/3. Our vintage treasured lamp was never placed in our new home. The setting it worked in is in the new place in our home without the lamp that goes with the setting. My Town Movers has someone very dishonest moving property. I highly recommend that if anyone still uses them to get inside the back of the truck (s) to inspect every inch before they leave. The lamp is invaluable! We were offered only $125 to compensate for the lamp that was taken. A another example of dishonesty was when we almost gave away $500 bc we were quoted by Preston $1000 to move our piano. BIG LEAGUE MOVERS charge $250 with their moving service. He said he thought that's what the company, Lane Music, charges and put it in the written quote. We decided to call Lane Music to double check n they charge $500. So we used Lane music directly and saved $500. I do not recommend using this company bc there are dishonest people, dishonest business!!!! I should have stayed with BIG LEAGUE MOVERS. read more

I'll keep it simple. This company will destroy your house and cost you thousands. They took my washer from my old house, moved it to my new house, barely attached the washer hose, turned on the water so it was spilling down the wall, and then pushed the washer back in place to cover the leaking and left. They told no one that they even turned on the water. When I arrived at my new house 24 hours later, my floors were completely destroyed. It cost me over $6000. They said it was my fault because they aren't plumbers and don't know any better. I informed them that you don't hire plumbers to attach a washing machine hose and if they were so inept, they shouldn't have touched it in the first place. They refused all responsibility and said they would pay nothing. These people will destroy your home and then spit in your face when their done. Absolutely terrible company and awful people. Do not under any circumstances hire this company. The worst move, by far, in my life, and I have moved a lot. I would give them zero stars if I could. The move was from one home to another ten minutes away. It was estimated to be two days packing, two days moving. The reality was two and a half days packing, almost three days moving. Their gross underestimate was not my fault, but I paid the price. To make up for lost time, and to make things go faster, packing became sloppy, then practically nonexistent. An antique secretary was not secured properly, and no one checked to see if there was actually anything in it, and very valuable breakable items were left to roll around in it. Drawers were not checked in several pieces of furniture, dishes were not packed properly, lamps were not packed, shades were crammed together. Some artwork and framed art photography were wrapped within an inch of their lives, while others were not wrapped at all. Now to the actual move. Three pieces of furniture were broken: a leg snapped off a chest of drawers, a mirrored panel was knocked off a breakfront and never found, and a stool was split in half. A key to an antique chest was lost and now that piece of furniture is unusable. A curtain rod in our old home was pulled out of the wall, having been knocked into with a piece of furniture, or something. Not sure what happened there, as no one said a word to me, and they must have known it had happened. I found the damage after walking through the home for the last time and had to call in a favor to get it repaired before turning over the keys to the new owners. Our newly refinished hardwood floors in our new home were scratched so many times I lost count. Six weeks later we still haven't found some cables to electronics or the printer electrical cord. And the crowning blow. Backing the truck into our new driveway, the truck hit the arm of the gate. It still works but it getting slower and jerkier every time we use it, and it's only a matter of time before it stops altogether. I was offered measly compensation and it's on me that I took it rather than get estimates for all the damage, and I regret it, as we are still finding damaged items, lost pieces of equipment. The damage to our property was much, much higher than the compensation I received. With one notable exception, their personnel are incompetent, indifferent or both. If you value your property, do not hire this company. They don't care. read more

I've moved many times due to relocation ... state to state and international. This time was a local move, moving to a new house in the same city .... this time I had to pay for it vs. my corporate moves. These guys were great. Very professional , fair price and they were strong. We moved some heavy pieces upstairs including a piano. They were smiling and upbeat the entire time. Overall my move went well. One of the packers/movers was in experienced and in my opinion was not supervised or given guidance on what to do next. I kept seeing dollar signs being wasted. I did make comments to who I thought was in charge. The other movers and packers were very efficient and professional. Most of my stuff was packed and moved very professionally. Again, unsupervised and lacking knowledge caused some items to be packed unprofessionally. Luckily I only moved four miles down the road so nothing was broken. Overall experience was good. Our wood floors were scratched/gouged by the movers even after we had asked repeatedly (in advance) for them to lay down protective barriers. On moving day they only brought one moving carpet that they used on the ground OUTSIDE of the place we were moving from. This the carpet was wet and muddy and unusable inside our new place. In response to our request to fix the floors, we were told that they were only responsible for up to $100. There are plenty of other moving companies in the area. When the time comes, I will definitely use someone else. read more

Great experience today with My Town Movers. Ricky, Kevin, and Jimmy were very professional, obviously experienced, and efficient. They were helpful with even small details and got our stuff packed up and out in what I thought was a quick pace. Unloading at the storage facility was really quick too. I should also mention Jarrod who came out to give the estimate (yes he was clear that it was an estimate) and was very helpful to understand what things would cost, how long things would take, and what we could expect on move day. We are doing a total remodel and had these guys come and move furniture from one room to another so more work can be completed where the furniture had been. Needed an unconventional move and this group was really helpful. We had heavy 8 foot gallery walls that we needed moved from the venue to the storage area. -This group was very helpful in getting the gallery walls loaded and unloaded at the warehouse. -There wasn't a time restriction on picking the walls up on the date, so we were flexible. We did have to pay for the minimum hourly time/mileage rate. - The venue has unique architecture, and the moving crew didn't listen to how to back the truck to the correct door and not use the handicap ramp. (Read: The walls ~3 ft too big to make the ramp turns.) The crew did not listen to us for instruction, and tried it their way only to see it only fail miserably. We stood and watched opposed to arguing about it longer. Unfortunately, the 45 minutes it took for the entire load and drop-off included this 15 minutes of stubbornness. -Overall,I would use them again for special moves since most moving companies are more expensive and don't move certain items. read more

Potential Movers Beware of the fine print and know that whatever quote you're given won't be the final cost. This move went wrong in so many ways but I'm only going to address the ones that future clients need to be aware of. 1. Be aware that what you e-sign is not a contract it's only an estimate so be sure to print it or write down the amount quoted. If you can, have them sign something to insure the final cost is within range of the estimate, otherwise you will be shocked as we were. The document we e-signed was not a contract it was an estimate. The estimate was about $6300 but when the move was over we were charged over $9600 (which was eventually negotiated down $1000) I have never e-signed a document that just went away after signing so there was no record of it that's why you need to print it for your records. The estimate was only for packing and moving, nothing was unpacked. We might as well have paid our friends to help us move (less than 10 miles away) because they didn't unpack anything and was going to charge us to haul away the boxes (but in the end didn't). 2. Be sure to have the person who comes to your property for the initial consultation explain exactly what the process from start to finish will be, don't assume anything. For example, our home had a steep driveway that trucks with a liftgate can't enter, you would think that was the first thing taken into consideration with the move. On day 1 of our move we paid for 5 guys who had to walk up and down the driveway with dollies to load and unload our things onto the truck. On the 2nd day of the move I called and voiced my concerns with the supervisor that it was obvious they couldn't finish the job with 4 guys loading the same way they had done the previous day. After that conversation, the supervisor came with his personal truck to help the movers load and transport our things up and down the hill to the truck. Of course we were in 911 mode because everything had to be out that day. Why wasn't this strategy considered the 1st day when we paid for 5 guys was one of many questions we later asked when we had to speak with the owner to settle the dispute. 3. Be sure to get the highest amount of claim insurance possible because Your things are not individually wrapped which increases the chances of them being damaged. The standard insurance offered is .60/lb. so when your glass or small valuables are broken more than likely the weight doesn't equate to the value and you will not be compensated fairly. Too many of our things were damaged and some broken beyond repair. 4. In the estimate I was assured that everything would be out Friday so I booked a hotel. This definitely didn't happen. In the end we were reimbursed but what a waste of money. In dealing with this company we learned hard lessons- be sure it's a contract and not an estimate; get everything in writing; assume nothing and insist and monitor the packers to be sure everything is individually wrapped. It has been just over a year since I moved from Memphis to Maryland but everytime I look at my dining room table and bedroom furniture I get angrier. So I figured I had to share this with the public so you can be leery about using this company. The young scrappy boys, showed up on time and were quite delightful - although the one guy would not stop talking and was wasting precious time loading my things correctly. First off they loaded the POD incorrectly so had to unload and load again. For the furniture I offered blankets, sheets and towels to protect it and as I was wrapping plastic around the furniture was informed I did not need to do that. They loaded up my POD, incorrectly and had to unload and load it again, wasting time that I was paying for; I figured they were professionals and knew what they were doing so did not hover and supervise (lesson learned). When I unloaded my POD two months later I was in shock! Apparently they did not use the blankets, sheets and towels I provided them so my newish dining room table had gigantic gashes and my newish bedroom furniture had gashes and chunks taken out of it. Unfortunately the gashes are so severe that it will be nearly impossible to fix them. My sofa also had grease all over it. And they broke one of my chair legs. I wanted to cry and actually still do every time I see what damage was done to my stuff. I would strongly suggest not using this company or if you do to watch every move they are making. read more

We used this company for our long distance move, and couldn't be more disappointed. We used them for loading services; I understand there will be some scratches etc from a long distance move as I've done it twice now, but nothing prepared me for this. Upon opening the truck we discovered that they failed to accurately pack our items, and half of our stuff fell forward, ruining coffee tables, a jewelry box, headboard, and scratching several other pieces of furniture and damaging boxes. The company we hired was appalled at how our items had been packed, stated it was "lazy work" and suggest we call the company. We did, and they just said oh well we have no liability. They arrived on time, were very professional and ensured my client's belongings were wrapped properly to prevent damage. A simple but loud message I noted is how much the MTM enjoyed their work. We only hired the movers to move the large items like the washer, dryer, refrigerator, etc. to save on cost. The 2 guys that showed up with truck were super friendly and ended up moving way more than I anticipated because they said payment was based on time, not number of items. The only downside was that the previous owners of the new house left their refrigerator, so we wanted to move that one into the utility room and use ours in the kitchen. However, due to liability the movers wouldn't disconnect either fridge or take the doors off to move them, so my husband and I had to do the moving of the fridges in the new house ourselves which was quite the ordeal. I had told them on the phone when making the reservation that I wanted that done, so it would've been nice to know ahead of time their limitations. This happened a while ago, but it stings nonetheless. I grew up in a Catholic family and at the unload I wanted to bless the furniture coming in with holy water. Not everyone might agree but it's what I wanted to do to feel at home at the new place. While doing this a mover, who I later found out name is Brandon Thayer, comes up to me and says that there's no point in blessing the furniture and that God doesn't work that way. Which is bad enough but he then proceeds to ask me why I think that, and a whole slew of inappropriate pointless questions deemed to make me look like an idiot for my beliefs. I had hired this company because I heard it was a Christian company but I can conclude that they are anything but. And from what they said on the phone, he's supposed to be one of the "main guys". All in all bad experience and made me question humanity a little bit, for something that doesn't affect anyone else but me and my family. read more

My wife had to move from Assisted Living to Skilled Nursing. We had furniture and items that had to be moved between the apartments and furniture and items that had to come back home. My Town Movers handled it beautifully. The two movers who did it were Siteno and Griffin. I think what I liked the most was not only the care that they took with our "stuff", but also the care, quietness while working, and consideration they had for the other residents of the Assisted Living and the Skilled Nursing facilities. This may sound like an ad or commercial, but I promise you it's not. If you need anything moved at all..anything; big or small, call My Town Movers. They will relocate anything you need moved; from one piece to an entire houseful of furniture, and for a reasonable price. I called another..highly?..regarded moving company in town (Primetime Movers) regarding moving one piece for me and it was "no go". I called Primetime and left a message regarding needing one piece moved. The owner promptly returned my call, but missed me as I'd stepped away from my office. He sounded a little less than enthusiastic, but at the same time trying to be polite. The combo came off as sounding "pretend professional". ..However, happy to hear from him, I called back leaving a more detailed message, imparting that I needed the one piece; a refrigerator, moved from Hernando, Ms. to east Memphis. I, again, left my home phone number and added my cell number. He now had all three; office, home, and cell. ..I never heard from the man again. The very next day I called My Town Movers, out of Collierville. The nicest, most professional people you'd ever want to speak with. Agent Emily, was absolutely the best. ..She made sure that the address in Mississippi could be found by GPS; then took the time, of her own volition, to chart out the best way for my husband and I to get the job done for the least cost. This meant meeting the drivers along the route to Hernando rather than having them meet us at our home then all leave from there. She broke the cost down so that there would be no surprises, gave information concerning communication with the driver, and very accurate information concerning timeline for their arrival; all with a warmth that radiated through the phone line. Brandon and Siteno, the movers, are two of the most polite, very best professional movers on the planet. If the care that they exhibited while wrapping and moving that one item (a large refrigerator) is any indication of the care they use when moving an entire household, no client has anything to worry about. They acted as though that refrigerator belonged to them. When it left its place of origin, there wasn't a dent, ding, or scratch and when it arrived at our home there was still no dent, ding, or scratch. They very carefully removed our old refrigerator from our home (for charity pick-up) and then removed our kitchen door in order to bring in the new refrigerator; placing the door back when they were done. They unwrapped the new fridge and slid it into place. There was opportunity, but they didn't run the clock into overtime to pad costs; and although they returned to Memphis using a different route than we did, they didn't use some inordinately longer route, arriving at our home only about four to five minutes after we did. Because of the way My Town Movers handled this relocation of one item, we wouldn't hesitate a moment in hiring them for the larger move of a household. ..Huge thumbs up! read more

When the movers showed up, they told my wife that they couldn't make the move in one trip because the truck wasn't big enough. If they had told me on the front end that their standard size truck is 24 feet, I wouldn't have used them. read more

Would not recommend. We used this company on 1/16/15 and spent almost $800. They did not properly reassemble 2 beds. When I complained on 1/19/15, the owner, Preston, stated contract says customer should inspect items before movers leave. I responded how would we no that beds were not properly assembled without using them 1st. Not properly reassembling 2 beds included not putting feet on 1 bed and not redrilling slats on another which fell thru when we used. I sent Preston pictures of both. In response 2 my complaint, Preston 1st said that beds were not assembled correctly because his guys did not disassemble them and this is why company policy is 2 refuse 2 reassemble beds that they did not disassemble (I had asked them to assemble 2 other beds from prior move by Big League Movers). I told Preston that movers did refuse 2 assemble 2 other beds 4 that very reason. My complaint was on beds that they DID reassemble. Preston responded that they were not returning 2 fix and we should have inspected b4 the movers left.  I also informed Preston of damaged leather bed with what appears to be 2 evenly spread rope marks across the bed which presumably were used to secure bed on truck. I sent photos and asked that he come out to inspect in person. Preston refused He said because my family member had helped with move that his company had no duty to remedy any damages and instead accused family member of causing rope burns damage by alleging dragging bed on ground. Preston also incredulously text me that when he drove up to my property on 1/16/15 (they initially sent 16' truck and had 2 bring 2nd one because we needed 24') he started to cancel move because I complained about the service of his formerly owned company, Big League Movers (see May 2013 review). I told him that I too wished he would have cancelled move because had I known in advance that he was same owner of Big League then I would have cancelled myself and asked for refund. He memorialized his professionalism, or lack thereof imho, in text messages which I saved because u cant make this stuff up. read more

This was the worst moving experience of my life! I had all boxes labeled and they were not put in any specific room. It was a long day and I know they were tired, but they questioned some of the items I wanted moved like they didn't want to do it. When we arrived at my new house, I noticed 3 items badly damaged and pointed them out to the lead man and he just ignored it. I have an entertainment center and an (old school) heavy tv. After I got some boxes unpacked, I noticed they left the heavy tv sitting on the floor in front of the entertainment center surrounded by boxes. They did not assemble all the beds. I gave them a tip and wasn't even thanked. The only reason I gave them one was because it was expected by the company and I do admit they were tired and worked hard for 9 hours total. They also charged me $200 travel time because they got lost. I won't be using this company again. read more

Skip this one. Damaged 8 pieces of furniture, the worst was 2 rips in box spring of king bed. Saw them rip it the second time. They said nothing. Took the frame apart too much and had trouble getting it back together. Damaged nightstand by bed trying to put frame together. Then ripped box springs putting the second one on sideways. Several chairs, all, had multiple dings from patio chair to farm table chairs. Farm table had piece off and since I suggested it could be in truck, one guy went to look and found it. Also shot water over floor when disconnecting washer to move it. Took several calls to get to talk to claims person. Several emails later, got to point that unless I had paid for extra insurance (option at bottom of long confirmation email on the move date) there was little he would do. Offered money he said was above standard but no check over a week later. I have not had experience with other movers offering optional ins. Never got an explanation about the 2 movers being new, needing more training etc. Since they wrapped furniture don't know what happened except careless unpacking and moving into house. I did see crowding of furniture in truck. I moved delicate items and many boxes. read more
