Adjacent to our favorite winery, Mawby, Big Little is a wonderful companion to the sparking specialists at Mawby. We stopped in for a quick tasting and the fella pouring inside was really friendly, knowledgeable, and generous. We got a few bottles to go, including the "dune climb" a delicious sauvignon blanc, which may have been one of my faves during our whole wine tasting excursion that day. This was the first stop on a self tour of Wineries in the area and it turned out to be our favorite. One of the main reasons was our host (whose name I didn't get, darn it) who spent time not only telling us about the wines at the beginning but checked in on us throughout. My friend thought the Driftwood was good. I'm more of a red wine person and even though the area is not good for red wines generally I thought the Underdog was very tasty. Disclaimer: This is a review by someone who doesn't drink alcohol because she's allergic! Read on for a review of the vibes, ambiance, and non-alcoholic options (if any)! This place had no non-alcoholic options, so it gets 4 stars. In addition, the staff were very friendly & would joke with us, but at the same time not great at explaining how the tasting worked, so all my friends in the group were left a little baffled and I don't think they ended up doing the tasting properly. I once again asked about the meaning behind the name & once again it was two brothers who had started this winery, a big brother & a little brother - CUTE! The place is definitely a lot more casual, which I wasn't mad about, and they also had insanely gorgeous views of their vineyard & rolling hills. They even allowed us to walk through the vines, making sure to be respectful to the growing grapes of course, & encouraged us to sing to the grape babies as well! It was delightful! read more

I visited Big Little winery with some friends in May and we were greeted by Kate with a big smile. Kate welcomed us and assisted in our selection of wines and took care of us throughout our visit. we were sitting outside enjoying the view and she came out to talk to us about our wines. I really enjoyed the Dune climb Sauvignon Blanc and the Open Road Rosa and took a couple bottles home. Kate made our time there a very pleasant experience and I will definitely go back. read more

We only stumbled on Big Little as we left L. Mawby. They share a parking lot. The woman working here was very friendly. The bar was not as crowded as other wineries we visited. When you arrive, you'll get a complimentary pour of their white wine blend, Mixtape. I thought it was smooth and delicious, and I ended up buying a bottle for my fiancee. If you want additional pours, $5 gets you three. My brothers and I sampled the C-3Pino (so named in honor of the golden "Star Wars" droid) just because we love the movies. It was not good, but it was fun to say we tried it. Stopping by here allows you to easily knock out two wineries in one visit, and that's awesome. Followed up hop lot with a visit here. Hoping to go to Mawby for the first time in 25 years but they were booked for the day. Big Little Wines is part of the same complex and they had an opening. Great location with beautiful view. Waiter was a bit of a character but fit in great with our group. Very knowledgeable about the wines and ciders. We all did flights. The whites really shine here and really they only had one red and a blush/rose that was quite good. Crayfish was my favorite white. C3 was great also. It won't be 25 years before we go back again. Probably more like 25 days or less. If you want to hit any of the wineries in the area on the weekend you should make reservations if they take them. All are going to be busy. We got lucky and hit the timing perfect. read more

Accidentally found this place as we were heading into L.Mawy ... It's Thursday and they are open, why not! Surprise by their wine! They are almost in par with some of the Cali or New Zealand ones I have had. It's a bit pricey given there are similar wine from other regions, but I suppose for a good local Midwest boutique bottle, it's not too bad! I can't wait to open the bottle I get! read more

Little Big is located directly in front of L. Mawby. This small tasting room reminds me of a club or tree house. It was good that it was not busy during our visit as both the bar and the room are quite small. They do a complementary pour of their Mixtape wine and it is $5 for three additional pours. Another option is to buy a glass and take it outside to enjoy the view. There are several picnic tables scattered for this purpose (also if you were smart enough to bring snacks!). All of the wines have fun, whimsical names, as do the labels on the bottles. I was a fan of their Tire Swing, one of the many childhood themes monkiers. With a two in one stop, and a great view, a great addition for any wine tour. read more

Best winery we went to. Meant to go to Mawby, but started here and spent 2 hours on a hillside sipping whole glass pours one at a time for tasting with an amazing waiter and a spectacular view of the vineyards. Never made it to Mawby. This place made our whole trip memorable. They started with a free pour the minute you sat down and it was inexpensive for a flight. He'd come by, pour you a glass and let you sip and enjoy before the next came out. This was a much nicer experience than have the flight of tastes that the other wineries do. This was a follow up to Ciccone vineyards. Skip their Bougie place and expensive bad wine where they won't even give you your glass like everyone else. read more

We had intended to go to Mawby but they had an hour wait for an opening so the host Jim kindly sat us outside here under a tree. The best part of our experience was the view unfortunately. I wasn't a huge fan of the complimentary glass of their Mixtape. Not that it was bad I just didn't prefer it. I wish our server wasn't so downtrodden. When I told her what type of wine I liked and actually laughed and scoffed at me even though it was on the menu. Not sure why she thought that was ok. Perhaps she thought the mask would hide it or something. My husband went with his preferred flight tasting and she quickly commented he had made excellent choices. Unlike the other wineries we visited BLW didn't bring our 3 flight out together. Our server came out on her timeframe with the next offering. We had the hour to kill and were aware of the empty tables so we weren't in a rush. Twice I had to gulp the rest so she could refill as she just stood there waiting. I was surprised she didn't notice and offer to give us a bit more time between pours. Even though I was not a fan of the wines or the server the view was beautiful and I did love all the labels. Such A beautiful place! Everyone there is super nice and relaxed. And the wine is one of the best ones around Traverse City! The first tasting is complementary and then you can pick different tastings or just split the bottle of wine and enjoy the view. Love this place read more

Meh, Big Little Wines was a stop for us simply because it is next to L. Mawby. They specialize in small batch wines. You get one free tasting per visit - we tried the Crayfish Pinot Gris. It was okay, nothing too special. The place is very small and our large group overwhelmed the space! It was also very loud due to a raucous group of ladies that were there. read more

Yes! The simple fact that Big LIttle shares space with L. Mawby should have tipped me off that this was going to be a great find. So should the super hip well-designed labels on their wines I had seen out a a restaurant in TC and in stores. But, what confirmed it all was a visit there last year. The tiny tasting room had a super well-informed woman pouring who was fun and knew her stuff. And the wines all were fantastic. I loved the art in the place, too. So, if you are visiting Mawby, swing by here, have some Mixtape and other wines. Mawby gets busy from time to time, so this way you can always go here first until crowds clear. read more

Fantastic service and good wine. We had Frank as our server/sommelier and he was AMAZING! So friendly, quick, and helpful on choosing what wine we would like by description; not to mention was busy with quite a few tables that seemed to keep filling up.
