Made an unplanned stop to check the place out. Was quite impressed with the wine, the staff, the facilities and the music. We greatly enjoyed both the 2020 Cabernet Franc and the 2021 Figlia. Not sure I understand some of the low ratings....try the reds nexttime folks! read more

We had a great afternoon visiting Ciccone. The Sauvignon blanc was good. I would've preferred it to be a little more dry but it had good flavor. Their charcuterie board was awesome. The wine is seriously the worse I have ever tasted. The property itself is nice but unfortunately they block out the view of the water. They get people in using Madonna's name but she has absolutely nothing to do with it other than being the daughter of the owner. She actually has a strained relationship with them. read more

Cute and cozy winery room that surrounds the tasting bar. Staff was friendly and laid back, very helpful to my friend who is new to wines. They do listen to your questions about Madonna coming to visit their dad- yes that Ciccone- and don't seem to get tired of it although I'm sure they hear it every day. Tasting was $5 for 4- a bit different from some others I had been to. Note to Yelp users- there is a coupon for a free tasting But they don't know anything about it. Beautiful vistas and gardens. The Pacentro is the most delicious wine I've ever tasted!

I know people love this place because it's owned by Madonna's dad, but yikes, this is seriously the worst wine I have ever tasted. We keep coming back here because they participate in the Leelanau wine events and usually have SPECTACULAR food pairings, but the wine literally tastes like vacuum exhaust. It's kind of worth a stop just because it is so wild how bad this wine is. If you go for a tasting, you get to keep your glass and if you bring the glass back with you your future tastings are free. I still have their glass, but never bring it with me for a tasting- that's how bad this wine is. read more

Even Madonna couldn't save this place.... Like a virgin, touched for the very first time...Ciccone Vineyards is, well. Inexperienced. And, it shows. Unenthused staff (yes, I realize its busy...but wine season is short here, at least fake being excited!)....small selection of wines, none of which were particularly alluring. The Madonna Collection is composed of about 5 wines, 4 of which were sold out. Ummmm, ok. Obviously we have some business decisions to make here. Quit making the boring stuff, start slapping Madonna's face on all the bottles so they sell. The outside barn/vineyard space is beautiful....great for an event/wedding, etc. But a $5,000 price tag? Are they kidding? Do they know this is Northern Michigan....not some major metro area or California wine country? Yes, its a gorgeous view over the Lake, but it's a barn for chrissakes. Like a real frickin' BARN. No barn is worth $5k, I don't care if its sitting on an island in Fiji. Overall: if you are touring Leelanau wineries, this one could be skipped. We paid $5 to taste 5 wines AND we got a free wine glass...Which you bring back in for free tastings. Minus one star because their wines are all dry and you don't get a choice for the first 4 pours...You do get to choose your fifth. I'm not a huge dry wine person, so the variety wasn't really there for me. I ended up buying a bottle of Eve apple wine for $12.95. Since I bought a bottle, my tasting price went down to $4.72. We (Ali and Mykola) really like this place. This was our third visit. Great service! Very friendly and willing to help us find wines and picking out selections. The tasting was wonderful and then we enjoyed a glass of wine outside and of course, we bought many bottles. Selection of Dry Wine just perfect. Not too many but at this point, you will make a right choice. Malbec 2017, Starboard 2016, Dolcetto 2017 the Best one. I wish Mr. Ciccone will make some sweet wine too. Maybe Moscato? The wines here were much better than others in the area. Definitely, recommend visiting here. Very nicely priced great wine and atmosphere to taste it, this place is worth finding. This is one of the few wineries we deliberately avoid when touring Leelanau. This winery is run by Madonna's family. Although she apparently does not have a relationship with them anymore, they sure work to get mileage out of her fame. The tasting room is adorned with posters of Madonna, and they've made wines in the past with her image on the label. I don't really feel comfortable with what appears to be a blatant capitalization on a family member's fame without her participation. I'd get over it, though, if the wine were delicious. Let's put it this way. When we came here, the hostess bragged about the Dolcetto wine. "Only Mr. Ciccone grows this grape in this region," she boasted, "so you won't get this anywhere else." After we tasted, one person in our group dubbed the wine "Berry Berry Butthole." That's a pretty apt description of the taste. The other wines weren't much better. read more

Madonna's family has a winery. In Traverse City? OK, then we must go. I mean, I practically wore out my Immaculate Collection CD in college as my "getting ready" soundtrack, so to say I spent time loving Madonna would be an understatement. Honestly, I think this stop was our least favorite of the wineries we checked out on our wine tour. It wasn't bad, it just didn't offer anything particularly special. The pourers weren't enthusiastic, and none of the wines I tried stood out to me. The property is lovely, and we found out you can rent it for your special occasion. We even trekked back to the barn area for a looksee. You know, in case we have $4,500 to drop to rent the whole property for a special occasion. Nice? Definitely. Rustic charm all the way. Not entirely sure how you could use the whole property or why $4,500 would make it worth it. But hey, if you wanna, the option is there. The people here were so friendly and accommodating. The wines were really good, one of the best we had in the short wine tour we created for ourselves. The focus on Italian wines (without being exclusively Italian) really differentiated them from the others we tried. If the credit card connection had been working I would have bought more wines. Madonna's father owns this winery so they had limited edition Madonna varietals on sale (but not for tasting). For $5 you get a glass, and as many tastings as you want (they had 8 wines total). I fell in love with nothing. The 'eve' apple wine was so light it almost tasted like air, but what then is the point? Their piinot grigio was also not aged enough, so the tastes and notes were very faint. The cherry wine was pretty tasty and tart, but we didn't end up buying anything. The cherry peach port tasted more of peaches than anything else. Not bad, but I could've easily skipped it. Come if you are curious. read more

Disappointed. This was the most expensive winery with not good wine. $20.75 for a taste of 4. This was the only winery where you also couldn't keep your glass. Nor could you buy a glass. Spend your time at Big Little down the street. They start with a free taste and want to pour you a glass at a time (that you keep). They really let you enjoy your time with them. I was really surprised by this place... There's nothing wrong with this business or the staff or anything but every wine I tried was so gross. My first wine smelled like when a vacuum belt burns up and tasted the same, the next was like a tuna sandwich with miracle whip, the third was really cabbagey and the fourth was at least served with a hersheys kiss, but was not good either. I'm not someone who's really picky about wine at all, and I didn't even want to finish the four tastes that I had. read more

Stop 3 of my wine trail experience in the Leelanau Peninsula. I would have expected more out of a winery that advertises Madonna so dang much. Yes I know, it's her father's joint. But really? Make it something special! For the Labor Day weekend, the wine sampling dealio went a little like this: $5 for 4 preselected wine samples and 1 personal choice. And like many other wineries around this area, you get to keep your drinking glass! Wines to note in particular: The 2007 Chardonnay is not so good in my opinion. It wasn't horrible but when they described it as buttery, I didn't think I would be drinking a glass of movie-style popcorn. However, this happened to be the case. I would fear some serious artery-clogging after drinking only a glass. I don't think drinking more than one glass of this would be that appealing in any sense... unless you're Paula Dean and really love your butter! On the flip side, two red wines stood out like sore thumbs for their wonderful flavor and long-lasting taste. The 2007 Cabernet Franc was delicious. I couldn't sense the actual taste of tobacco but I surely tasted the spiciness of it. A very strong selection for those who enjoy hearty reds. The other wine was one that I actually purchased to enjoy at home... the 2007 Pinot Noir. Nutty and spicy, but lighter than the Cabernet Franc. It was just so smooth, I had to buy it! The lady attending us was very nice and personable. She definitely made it a better experience. Overall, the winery was smaller than I expected for something as big as Madonna; however, the size was definitely decent. One thing that tripped me up was the mirror behind the bar. I thought it was another side of the winery, only to my surprise I saw my own reflection. Ha! I wouldn't say there was anything special about this place but they definitely have the flavors on point in regards to the Cabernet Franc and the Pinot Noir. Hoorah for yummy red wines! read more

Not good. Staff was trying to figure out what the price was for a tasting and what wines we were allowed to taste and which were premium and which could be substituted or not. They were accommodating when they made a mistake and I think we got to try a premium that we shouldn't have, but it was really disorganized. The wine was mediocre and overpriced. We bought some anyway to support the industry, but man... Steer clear of the Malbec. My wife and I love Malbec and this felt like some sort of boxed wine with a synthetic Malbec flavoring added. Tracy and Janelle roped us in immediately with their personalities and wonderful customer service (other wedding venues and wineries did not have HALF of the personality of these two). Tracy was extremely helpful throughout our months of planning and very flexible when it came to meeting with us and answering all of our questions. There's essentially one reason to go here. If it were the Smith Winery, or the Clark Winery, there would be no reason to stop. But, it is Madonna's dad's place, and the kitch factor is too overwhelming not to stop. It's a beautiful place. The wine, meh, some of the worst I've ever had. The upside is that you get to keep a commemorative wine glass for your $5 taste fee. The bad news, it will just serve as a reminder of how disappointing the wine truly was. read more

We had a great time during Taste the Passion weekend, and Ciccone was out favorite stop. The servers were very fun and upbeat, the Pacentro wine was great--Pinot Blanc and Muscato blend. The paella was our favorite dish at any place we went. We tried a few other wines, too and they have a Dolcetto, Pinot Noir blend that was also my favorite, called Cassie Red- named after their dog : ) We enjoyed talking to Rachel, who seemed young at first but knew a lot about wine. She had also had her wedding there, so she told us about the historic Barn, and showed us pictures. Looks like a good spot for a wedding, too. read more
