It's the perfect store to shop aimlessly for that which you didn't know you need until you see it. Accompanying a friend, I wasn't searching for anything in particular. However, I wasn't bored. Most of the store is dedicated to clothes, which I didn't need, but I enjoyed looking at the special selection room of blouses and sweaters themed for Christmas. Purses, located at the front left of the store, also failed to hold my attention for long, but I enjoyed the selection of animal themed bags. Some of the car bags were adorable, but totally impractical for me. I especially enjoyed wandering the aisles of housewares, holiday items, decor, and linens in the back of the store. The clearance aisle, located in the back left corner, was bare. Next to it were lots of holiday themed pet toys. The store had a lot of nautical-themed decor for everyday and holiday. I found and purchased a cute turquoise elephant cookie jar and salt and pepper shakers in housewares.

While placing items in my cart, I over heard the manager call another customer after she left the store, a batch. My head turned to see if I really heard what I heard. The manager, a heavy set, blondish haired man was still muttering about said customer. When i went to check out I was not greeted. What was said to me by the manager was "hand me all the bottles as you are not taking the buggy outside because customers steal them" I handed him 4 bottles (32 oz each) and he put them in one bag. I asked him to double bag it and he said one bag is fine. The bag broke upon removing from backseat at home and the bottles went everywhere. I purchased a total of 16 bottles of tea. 12 were in a box so they were easily carried into home. This store is rarely stocked. Also, FYI I did not mean the word "batch" but "b!tch" Auto correct changes words all time. I have called Dollar Tree Corporate Customer Service on 2 seperate occasions and have not received a return call or email or letter. Does the company care how their employees act?? I am guessing not. When I asked another employee what was up with the manager, I was told "he is just like that and to accept it". NO I DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT HIS NASTYNESS OR HEAR HIM SPEAK ABOUT CUSTOMERS THE WAY HE DID. WITHOUT CUSTOMERS COMING IN TO SAID STORE...SAID STORE WOULD NOT EXIST NOR WOULD THE JOBS THERE. They have cleaned up their act since the place was leaking all over the place into buckets. This one carries the chips we like, Utz BBQ, which oddly the others do not. They keep the place well-stocked but morale always seems low amongst the employees, not like it is a great job I know. Sometimes sketchy people wandering about the mall. For this reason they have to put poles on the carts so they can not leave the store, and they lock the bathrooms.

After nearly an hour of walking around she finally made her decision on a Simply Southern T-Shirt. We went to the register for it shortly thereafter, at which time the Simply Southern T-Shirt rang up for 30% off. The attendant at the register then proceeded to say "All Simply Southern shirt's are 30%" off". My significant other was so excited that she went straight back to the area where she had just picked out the shirt that I was paying for. She did this before I could even complete the transaction. I finished paying for the item and told the attendant that I knew she couldn't wait to go find more shirts after finding out that they were all 30% off. We then took what felt like another eternity, (probably only 30 minutes in actuality) looking at all the simply southern shirts again. She then found a couple more she liked. We went back to the register now on the opposite side of the store as it was closer to where we were at the time of check out. The shirts did not ring up as 30% off. I explained to the cashier that we had just purchased this Simply Southern shirt and that it was 30% off, as stated at the time of sale by the cash register attendant, all Simply Southern Shirts are 30% off. Again, as stated by the Bealls employee, not just this single shirt, but ALL Simply Southern shirts were at that discounted price. And not only that, but this was a sale that was going on until Tuesday. These are not my own words, this is what I was told at the time of check out. I also provided the shirt we just purchased, as well as receipt for verification. My issue is this, the employee was simply stating something that she believed to be true. But the manager whom I dealt with (middle aged blonde lady) is not fit to be in any kind of management position! I have given this detailed explanation to show how poor this business is at considering the customer. I spent money to make my girlfriend happy. I made a purchase and then went back to buy more on the word that there was a sale stated by an employee, so that I could buy a few more shirts to make my girlfriend happy. Instead I'm standing at a cash register with a line forming behind me trying to explain the totality of the situation only to have what I presume is the manager looking at me like I'm stupid. I did not compete the purchase and walked out embarrassed. Prior to doing so I said to my girlfriend (Im sorry to let you down babe but I can't afford to buy these right now, I know you really wanted them.) Meanwhile the store manager is directly in front of me, a lengthy line of other customers are forming behind me and the sales associate is obviously waiting on what the manager is going to say. I was offered nothing, I gave my receipt of the shirt I just bought 30 minutes prior and explained the situation in absolute detail. The manager stated that the shirt I had purchased was on clearance, but no others were. Well then, why did the sales associate state that "All Simply Southern shirts are 30% off". Why then, after I just purchased an item would I return with said item in a bag and spend another eternity while my girlfriend found other Simply Southern shirt's she liked. They didn't bother to ask the other sales associate anything. I provided my receipt showing the item I just purchased. What could have been an easily rectified situation is now reflecting a poor review. Not only that, but I will no longer, nor my significant other shop here again. Good job Bealls, your neglect in customer service will undoubtedly affect the profitability of your business. Don't take my word for it, look at the other reviews. So thanks Bealls, you let down my significant other, and made me look like a bad person when I was trying to get my girlfriend a couple shirts and be nice. I'm sorry my finances are tight right now, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered and paid for whatever it was anyways. Please see the attached receipt as proof of my purchase, I'm not fabricating this. The issue is when they only have 1 check out open and maybe 2 or 3 self check outs. They now limit the self check outs to 10 items or less. If anyone has an issue on the self check out, they have to wait for the sole full check out person to be available to help them. It's a bad model to have the self check outs managed by the regular check out person. It leads to long wait times and a stressed out looking clerk. Plus if they have to help at self check out, then their line is at a stand still and vice versa. I like Target as a store, but the way they've been handling check out this past year has A LOT of room for improvement.
