I wasn't impressed with what I did see, either, so I decided to wait on this review until I was able to go back and browse without crowds. Honestly, I'm not keen on the trend of cheap, 'bargain' stores that have been popping up lately in Georgetown. Apparently people like their stuff cheap, and I completely understand wanting to save a few dollars, but in the end, you're still getting low-quality (*cough*cheap*cough*) stuff that will need replacing again and again. Bargain Hunt contributes to that. There is indeed a variety of things available for purchase; most notably the appliances, electronics, garden items, toys, and clothes. Throw in some snacks, home decor, and random knick knacks, and you've got Bargain Hunt. I did find a few things that I had forgotten existed (like Skip-Its and Rock Em Sock Em Robots) or that I had been looking for my child/home, but the prices didn't seem to be a Bargain. There was nothing in the store that I couldn't get elsewhere for similar price. The clothes were the worst -- obviously clothes that people didn't want and not priced low enough. I did find some Wrangler jeans for $10; so I suppose it really is hit or miss. The thing that really stood out? A majority of boxes were crushed/opened/re-taped -- clearly items that were unwanted or returned. I did, however, find one thing that I ended up purchasing: an indoor toddler trampoline for $20 (with a 20% off coupon I received on opening day). The box was slightly ripped and had clearly been opened before. At the check out I asked whether it was an item that had been returned. The cashier explained that most of the items in this store were indeed overstock items or returned/exchanged items from other stores. However, if I purchased something from Bargain Hunt and it didn't have everything and/or wasn't good, I had 30 days to return it. Good. I bought the trampoline. We opened the box at home, assembled it, and the trampoline was fine. It had obviously been put together previously, but all the parts were intact and there was minimal signs of use. We kept it. The only thing in Bargain Hunt that might prompt me to come back was the toy/sports section in the back of the store -- there were a lot of toys and games that I do not usually see in other stores. The garden stuff isn't bad, either. Otherwise? Meh. You're really going to have to hunt for a bargain here.

That said, I couldn't find anything I needed here, but they did have lots of nice items. Both locations I visited were very similar, and thus my reviews are essentially the same for them. Both were semi-organized, with an area for outdoor items, bedding, home decor, etc. But, the store kind of has a "yard sale" feel, in that you have to dig around to find any gems. Overall I think Bargain Hunt is a fine spot to stop in and check out if you don't mind the digging. You never know what you could find!

A good place to go browse for something cool…read more Now, I'll admit I'm a sucker for peddler's malls. They're usually nice places to go looking around, and this definitely is one such place. Like most peddler's malls (or as they used to be called, flea markets), they're a large space in an old shopping center (where the local Sears used to be) that's been converted into a display space for many businesses different booths by local people selling various things. It's a big, motley mix of things. Vintage clothing. Furniture. Home decor. DVD's and old paperback books. Toys. Small appliances. Jams, jellies, and preserves made by the Amish or other local small businesses. It's definitely worth browsing around to see if they have anything you might like.

I quickly grabbed the items I needed and went to check out. The cashier did not greet me, and was talking with someone that might have been her husband at the counter next to her. He was not an employee. She talked to this person the entire time she was checking me out. She asked him if he could help put something away since he wasn't doing anything. he said no, but went and did it anyway. At that point she begin communicating with him from about 10 feet away. But was not speaking to me. She hit the total button and then walked away to where the man was, and began helping him. So I used my credit card to check out, and the cash register finished checking me out without any further help from the cashier. The receipt printed and I figured I might as well grab it and grab my bags. So after I had my things and I walked past the cashier, i sarcastically said "thank you" as I walked past her. She replied, "you're welcome", as if completely oblivious to the fact that she had no customer service whatsoever. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because I was able to get in and get out quickly.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of expensive, boutique stores.... especially for growing children! They aren't in their clothes long enough to get your money's worth from the clothes. However, there are many people in this area that can afford and do buy these clothes for their kids, so it is a good shop to have in this town (and everything is nice to look at). I admit that I come in from time to time just to see if there is something practical for my little one. The stores has outfits and styles ranging from infant to child-size. They are all adorable and well-made. Usually, I go towards the small toy section in the back, of which there is a neat selection of Melissa and Doug items, instruments, wooden 'paper' dolls, and other things. I've only bought one thing: a colorful wooden stacker that my child LOVES. That was a good investment. Also, up in the front of the store are clothing by the Simply Southern line. There's a lot of bows for little girls, if you're into putting giant bows on tiny heads. Honestly, I saw more cute things for the girls than I did for the boys. Not a lot of unisex items. I'm addicted to jigsaw puzzles…read more Like, I CANNOT STOP DOING THEM. Some people are addicted to television, some people are addicted to donuts, some people are addicted to eating donuts while watching television, but me? I get a sense of joy and accomplishment when I snap that last puzzle piece down and complete a picture. Then I immediately take it apart, put it back, and start a new one. Well. A puzzle addiction can become expensive. After doing a puzzle swap with a co-worker, I discovered she found hers at Dollar Tree. DOLLAR TREE has puzzles!? I made a quick run here yesterday after work to check and sure enough, they've got puzzles! Ranging from a couple dozen up to a thousand pieces, there's a decent selection of jigsaw puzzles on the shelves. For a dollar each. Now. The quality of these puzzles? Well. They're clearly cheap. The pieces are small and incredibly thin -- they're not like the sturdy, larger puzzles you can buy for $10-$30 at other stores. So, it's up to your tastes. Although I prefer higher-quality puzzles, I go through them pretty quickly and can deal with the cheaper ones for now. Puzzles aside, I come to this Dollar Tree often when I am looking for cheap items for work, wrapping paper, and other odds and ends that I need cheaply. This does mean the quality of the item is cheap -- you get what you pay for -- but sometimes what you need IS something cheap! Aisles are usually pretty organized, workers are chill, no complaints all around.

Maurice's isn't the best clothing store ever, nor is it supposed to be upscale or cater to ladies beyond 30 years old, but hey -- it's an option. This location? Well, a bit smaller than others. And the clothes seemed more trendy/club-ish/expensive than usual, too. Basic tank tops ran $12+ -- eek. There seemed to be more black, glittery, lacy top than anything else. Where were all the flannel shirts and casual tees? Shoe selection was very limited. Jeans were reasonably priced, but the quality wasn't there. I don't know. Maybe my expectations were skewed. Or my perception is off. But after I left, I wasn't really excited about this location anymore...

The Georgetown Antique Mall is a great place to window shop or spend an afternoon getting lost in…read moreweirdness. If you're an antiques collector, or looking for something very specific, it's possible you could find it here; but, for me, this is just a spot to look around. I spent some time exploring this shop one afternoon, and I came across many interesting things. Nothing I needed, but interesting nonetheless. This shop, like many other antique shops, houses loads of old items scattered across multiple floors. Whether you're looking for books, toys, clothing, luggage, accessories, home decor, dishes, furniture (you get it.. the list goes on and on..), you can likely find it here. Or, at least spend some time exploring!
