I will not support any company that takes away a persons personal choice. For one thing when you get your goods and go to pay you deal with a live human being and can enjoy a little chit chat as they ring you up. I don't buy much in the food department as most of it is way too salt laden but cleaning supplies, pet food, birthday cards, bird seed, mouthwash and more are all on my regular list and more. You still get to deal with real people here and that means a lot to me.

The BiMart in North Bend has been my backup supplier of cartons before and always had them so what is Coos Bay BiMart's problem? Next I get asked for ID. I am 70 and obviously well past the legal age of 21 but okay, here's my ID. I then get asked to take it out of my wallet, which is difficult. Common sense is totally lacking from the lady running the checkout stand and when I complain, she threatens to call management and not sell me my Camels. Now I am really pissed after all this BS. If you don't want to deal with idiots and fools who cannot keep stuff in stock and cannot even tell when a senior citizen is well past the legal age without going super intrusive, then AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS!!! Decent gas station located in Fred Meyer grocery store parking lot…read more They have about 8-10 pumps available. Most pumps are self-serve. We didn't see any employees pumping gas while we were there. They have snack and beverage vending machines available as well. Overall, we got what we needed, gas! The pump we used had a crappy lever on it. It kept clicking off like the tank was full, but we only had about a quarter tank when we stopped in. We ended up putting $80 of gas in the tank, but had to hold the pump lever the entire fill-up. A bit annoying.

Having been on the road in our RV for the last couple of weeks, some of our supplies were getting low. I wouldn't swear to it, but I think Fred Meyer stores are only found in Oregon. We've been to a few of them over the years in places like Roseburg and a few other cities in the state. They're pretty massive stores and they don't only sell groceries. If you've never been to a Fred Meyer, you'll be surprised at what you see when you get there. They have a nice deli and produce section. In addition to groceries, they sell things like clothing, furniture, beauty supplies, jewelry, toys, electronics, sports equipment, camping gear, automotive items, hardware, tools, housewares, and more. The store that I visited in Roseberg was very clean, fully stocked, and well organized. I found everything pretty well except for an eyeglass repair kit. I asked several people that worked at the store if they had them and, if so, where I could find them. I got lots of answers like: "I work in groceries section," "I don't know," "Try clothing and apparel,""I'm only in charge of putting up signs," and, "This is the employee area, so they're not here." I finally found an employee in the tool area that told me all the checkout counters have them. Bingo! Sure enough, that's where they were! Overall, I like this store. It had everything I needed and more!

I had forgotten that I was paying with a return credit slip and mentioned that it was a complicated return policy, as I got out the return ticket he mentioned that it was meant to be difficult so as to deter customers from returning items. I than said to him that that wasn't good for customer relations to which he uttered "you can always shop somewhere else!" I couldn't believe what I had just heard... I'm a retired produce manager who worked for over 38 years serving the public and have received 20 Outstanding Service Awards! Had I ever spoken to customers like Terry did I would have been reprimanded and or fired! I have shopped Bi Marts in both Florence, Oregon and Lincoln City, Oregon for 8 years and have never been treated or spoken to with such disgrace by any clerk! Best of all, I got some great deals for things that I forgot to bring on my trip. FYI for you airline travelers. If you forgot something or those pesky airport security folks confiscate your 4.oz of personal items (shampoo, conditioner, lotion), you can pick up a replacement here for $1 each (and no tax in Oregon), along with some yummy snacks (I picked up chocolate covered pretzels). And it was across the parking lot from my hotel.
