New younger lady in training was friendly and sweet. I'm imagining the gentleman who was training her was a manager and clearly great at multitasking while still providing friendly service. We were happily greeted and even paid a compliment about the kids demeanor by Cecil. When I walked in, everyone was super friendly and not just because it's a "five below" requirement but because they seemed happy to be there. Ironically chatted with other happy customers throughout the store. Kids enjoyed their stop and had earned it. Truly left a great impression and I just had to stop here and applaud this location!

OK guess not... 5 below = everything in the store is 5 $ and below (they should have included the dollar sign for people like me) They have a good/decent selection of many toys for kids, popular "in" Disney supplies, water bottles, pool supplies, basically anything you might be looking for. This location is clean and the staff is decent. The first week they were open was madness, but it has cooled down a lot since then. It is located right next to The Edge gym and GNC in the Pier One and Big Y plaza. Overall if you look for a bargain price, you get what you pay for like any other dollar store. They also accept returns but ONLY with the receipt. My fiancé bought a pair of headphones, they broke and he forgot I put the receipt in his car glovebox. They gave him big cahones for not having the receipt and wouldn't take it back. Just a heads up Overall decent place. And no, it is not a clothing store like I thought....so close... ;)

I was in here around the beginning of April to pick up some paper plates for Easter plus a few…read moreodds/ends and I had THE worse experience in this store ever! The store was messier than usual, hard to find stuff (only plastic or styrofoam here plus no Easter plates at all), hard to get through & around the aisles which was worse than usual, etc. You get the point. I did find some utensils, fun pens, socks, etc so it kinda made up for not finding all the other stuff I was looking for other than the plates. As I waited in the endless long line cuz as usual only 2 people at the registers for a weekend day (guess we were lucky to have 2 people), I couldn't believe that the cashier in my line was taking her time ringing up the customers cuz she was busy talking (more like yelling at) to a child (son perhaps?) with a man both standing near the front window. Okay, fine, I'll deal, I wasn't in a rush. Well, when she finally started ringing me up, she started automatically bagging my items. She never asked if I wanted them bagged like I've experienced at other stores and I had already put my own personal bag at the end of the counter which i opened up so I could be handed the items as they were each rung up. So I finally said "I have my own bag" and with a huge huff, she took all the items out of the store bag and literally kept them in her hand as she rang up more items which she then shoved into her already full hand until it seemed she was good and ready to hand them to me and all the while continuing her conversation with the guy & child at the window. She then shoved what she had in her hand into mine which didn't give me a good chance to organize them into my own bag so some items weren't crushed. She did the same thing with the rest of my items. I was still really nice to her as I've worked at registers myself in the past. After I paid her, I had to ask her for my receipt as she was already ringing up the next customer and again with the huff, she ripped it out of the register and threw it at me! Don't care what kind of day you had, are having or hate your job, you should always be nice to customers especially when they've been (extremely) nice to you. Was she mad she had to work that day? Was she mad she couldn't charge me for a store bag? Was she mad that the guy & child were there? Who knows but I won't be going back to this store again. I'll drive all the way to the Cheshire store where it's cleaner, neater, better stocked and much nice cashiers! I would've been fired immediately at my past jobs if I ever treated customers so rudely and/or had people hanging at the register talking to me while I was busy ringing people up. Guess this branch is that desperate for cashiers!

Every person working that day helped to try to resolve our issue. Ultimately, they did find the keys the next day, and I promptly got a call from the store manager. We are so thankful to the Meriden Marshalls employees for their extraordinary customer service, and their actual empathy & concern. While I have always received good service at here, this incident showed me how far above and beyond the staff is willing to go for their customers. Everyone was just awesome!

She has, more than once, when I've checked out, negatively commented through judgement, both to me and about me to other cashiers and patrons, on my use of a non Marshall's credit card for my purchases. She even goes so far as to comment when I'm with a different cashier and she's working next to us. Once, I was with a different cashier standing next to her when my cashier asked me if I wanted to $ round up for a cause. After I said no thank you, this cashier, standing next to us, started making comments out loud about how she couldn't believe that I said no and then began judging me on how ignorant i must be and not have any awareness of the cause. Her behavior was highly offensive and hurtful as she has no idea about my personal experience and contributions to this cause. She doesn't know me but that didn't stop her from making humiliating out loud and inappropriate comments to me and about me. She negatively commented again just last week as I was checking out with another cashier. Since she won't stop doing this, I will stop going to this store and I will continue to share my bad experiences with others.

I was in this Burlington today for some last minute school clothes for my daughter. On that sour note the woman I was told is the store manager is not a nice lady. I have tried to return things two days after buying them and she will refuse the return if the items do not have a Burlington price tag on them even if I have the receipt. My daughter and I have witnessed her bullying employees then turn around and greet us like she wasn't behaving inappropriately right in front of us. I was in the area and decided to stop at this location to use Kohls cash that I racked up from an online purchase. The reason I give it 2 stars is although it was the best organized (least messy) Kohls I've been too of the 3 in the area, it also was the most empty. Literally every piece of clothing I was interested in was missing in most of the desired sizes for me it was L or 32 waist product. Jogging pants in that size, gone. Their Tek Gear line was bear. When I gave up on myself and decided to use the Kohls cash for my wife for Christmas they had nothing in her size for active wear (she is a dance teacher). This is IN SEASON stuff we are talking about and it was missing. When I went to checkout the the associate assigned to a register was wondering off to find a size for a woman on the display but not available. Great customer service BUT not when the lines are long as it is. They need some of other members of the staff to be handling those to keep the flow for checkout. I cant just blame this store though as this is one of the downfall of my Kohls experience and it has happened even prior to COVID. I didn't take pictures of all the delicious looking muffins as I was busy talking to the lady who was there attending and trying to figure out what flavor muffins to bring home. She was very sweet and helpful. I ended up buying pear with almond , Boston Cream and a gluten free blueberry muffin for myself that they keep separately in the back. It's very small inside with no tables. It's more of an order , pick up and go place. My dad loved his muffins. As I did mine. Not greasy , not dry, nor crumbly! Big sized fresh muffins! If you love muffins for breakfast give it a try! The Chocolate Boston Cream was nicely filled with Cream! I'm looking forward to going back for another GF muffin! Prices are fair!
