He came out on time, was personable, but tried to up-sell me about things I was not interested in at the time. When you have limited income you have to do things as you go in these hard times. No one can make me buy something I didn't ask for or don't want/need. The quote he gave me was very very good. I was pleased with it. He told me he would send me a proposal with all info via email later in the day. As he had to rush to get to other appointments. I had told him based on what we discussed he would get the job. He texted me immediately that the proposal was ready. It was an invoice sent via email for the entire amount. That was hilarious. LOL. In any event, when I looked at the write up, there was no mention of metal reinforcement for the concrete during the form and pour. I need that. We discussed expansion joints and he told me I didn't need them, but I wanted them. He doesn't replace cracked bricks, etc., because he'd have to replace the whole thing. NAH. I've been around and I do my own research and some of what he said made no sense to me. If you give me what I ask for I expect to be charged accordingly. When I hire tradesman and pay out of my pocket it's for what "I" want. Not what you are only willing to do. It's too bad because I think had he agreed to the reinforcement my search for competent, morally intact contractor would have ended with him.

I recently called Joe and requested he provide a quote for an elderly friend of the family who needed MANY tree limbs removed from trees growing in the neighbor's yard. These limbs have caused issues with her siding, gutters and roof. In addition, she was barely getting sun light in her back windows because of the growth. Joe was not available but sent his worker, Brian, to assess the situation and provide a quote. We were able to set up an appointment for them to come in relatively quickly. Jeff made sure that the tree debris was carried from my backyard out to the front of my house to be ground up on the truck. He came with four other workers and Jeff was actively involved in helping them do the job and supervising them. Jeff is very easy to work with and everything he promised he would do was faithfully done. The huge tree parts were carefully removed via pulleys and no damage was done to my neighbor's house due to the tight space they had. Everything was removed and his men cleaned up the entire yard and cleared all the debris-they knew exactly what had to be done and their experience in doing this certainly showed. We agreed on a price/date. On the date/time the work was supposed to be done, the guy doesn't show up and states he's doing another job right now. That's fine, I get it. Shit happens. Should have given me an update at the very least, no? Especially since I told them I had another company that was willing to do it but I chose Barricella once they were able to meet the price. The least they could do was show some courtesy here and give me a heads up so I could plan accordingly. I live in NJ and drove to NY and canceled some plans expecting work to be done but they weren't even going to show up. Because it's in NYC and I needed the super of an apartment behind my home to allow for easy access for the removal of the tree, the super (who wasn't a live-in super) had to travel to the building only for me to tell them, face-to-face, Barricella wasn't going to show up. Nice. No apology, no nothing. Just a "We can't show up." Totally disregarding other people's time. I ended up just calling the other company and within a few days, they completed the job. No hassle, no back-and-forth nonsense. My brother has a home in Long Island and we've already set up an appointment to remove a handful of trees. Do better, seriously. Edit: To prove how even more unprofessional this business is, they sent me a message claiming I was posting a fake review. I responded by uploading a photo of our conversation. The owner is now claiming that the photo is also fake. Not only is this immature and unprofessional, it tells me they are taking zero accountability for their mistake and are doubling down on being unprofessional.
